The Legacy of Biblical Womanhood

Rate this book
Many Christian women are floundering-they are confused about what it means to be a Christian woman. Churches aren't sounding a clear call to biblical womanhood, much less teaching what it is. On top of that, precious few resources exist to help disciple women in the biblical image of womanhood. In this book Susan Hunt and Barbara Thompson call women to pass on a legacy of biblical womanhood to the next generation. Part One gives a defense of biblical womanhood, urging women to follow God's design. Part Two applies the principles of biblical womanhood to the stages of a woman's life. This includes a chapter about what it means to have a pilgrim's perspective through the final season of life on earth. Part Three appeals to churches to equip women to live out and to leave the legacy of biblical womanhood and includes practical guidance for ministering to women. When combined with Crossway's Spiritual Mothering , By Design , and The True Woman , this book will breathe new life into women's ministries in the church.

This book has been encouraging and life-giving at a season in my life where I have needed it most. Every woman should read this book and consider how to implement these beautiful truths in her own life and in the life of her church. Because I know one of the two authors of this book personally, I don’t feel that it is fair of me to assign a rating, but it is my prayer that the Lord will continue to use these rich words to challenge and bless believing women everywhere and ignite a passion to be a “frapping cable” in the kingdom of God.

The beginning was really good but as it went on it seemed kind of repetitive. Not very captivating. Good theology. The beginning talks a lot about the importance of the covenant thread throughout the Bible and that was good. Personally, I can cringe about books on Biblical womanhood so for that reason it wasn't my favorite. But, the writing is well done and parts of the book were really helpful and applicable to various relationships.

Not for me

I don’t know what I was expecting from this book, but not this. It’s basically a book about starting a womens ministry. If you are in that line of work, this would be a great book. As an average woman though, not looking to start or improve a womans ministry, I didn’t enjoy it. There were only a few things towards the beginning I enjoyed.

Es un libro que anima con bases bíblicas el rol de la mujer dentro de la iglesia. Creo que es un libro que toda cristiana debe leer. Ha sido muy retador. Me encantó.
