Say hello to the airplane as it takes off on an exciting gliding through the night sky, skimming above the clouds, and soaring into a bright new morning. Where will the airplane go next? This vibrant new picture book from Bill Cotter, author/illustrator of Don't Push the Button! , takes young readers on an imaginative journey they won't forget.
Bill Cotter is an artist who lives in Brooklyn, NY. Bill spends his time teaching art and music to children, playing live music around the city, and perfecting his ping pong skills.
I loved the directness of this story – a simple description of one airliner’s flight from start to finish. We start as the plane says goodbye to the ground, and then follow its journey over trees, over mountains, through clouds, through the night and so on until finally it says hello to the ground at its destination, and we then bid our airplane goodbye. The text is simple, and each colorful double-page spread leads us on in the journey. Lovely! -Jess O.
This book would be a perfect companion to a small child on her first airplane flight or even before, to prepare her for that exciting ride of her life high up in the sky. This book documents an airplane's journey from the time of liftoff to the time of touch down. It exhibits wonderful vocabulary words such as hello (airplane), over (trees, mountains and people), through (clouds) and above (birds) just to name a few. The book has a very happy and uplifting vibe and the illustrations are colourful, big and engaging, just a perfect match for the sparse text. Both are so kid- friendly and appealing to that specific age group. I highly recommend this book.
Raving about this airplane picture book which is absolutely perfectly suited to its intended audience.
Here's how I shared it with my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter. Opening to the end papers I asked, "what color is this?" YELLOW! page one shows an airplane taking off and the succinct text on the left page tells us "The airplane says good-bye to the ground." My granddaughter and I wave at the plane and say "GOODBYE!" We proceed through the book, finding ways to INTERACT with each page.
I can't wait to share this again at Baby Time and Story Time at the library.
Spectacular illustrations take readers on the journey of an airplane. Many of the pictures are from the perspective of the reader looking up into the sky above as the airplane flies above while others put the reader inside the cockpit looking out the window. This book is perfect for any child that adores airplanes. Yet, it could also be used with children before their first flight or if a parent is traveling.
HELLO, AIRPLANE! more suited for ages 3-5, takes readers on an exploration in the air. This concept picture book, with its simple text and soothing illustrations, is fine for those taking their first airplane ride. It'll give them a taste of what to expect and the sights they will see. The book is also a good lesson on prepositions.
Good for lapsit. Each picture is very colorful yet simple. The text is very short of each set of pages (the text is a small simple font). Has a lot of concept words like through, over, above, etc.)
This is a very simple picture book, and one of the first non board books that my rugrat will sit in my lap and listen to. Probably because there is only one sentence per page, and maybe because it's about airplanes. We've already started planting the seed of a love of travel and he's been on quite a few airplanes, so maybe he recognizes that. But probably not. Simple, fun, and makes me ready to go get on an airplane right now.
A nifty little primer reader that lives in the lane between Seeing Spot run and those level one reading book. Nicely centered around all the things an airplane does presenting solid concepts kids need to know.
Great book with well done illustrations. Repetitive text that works well for beginning readers and toddler read alouds. Very peaceful read, Tea liked finding the kid on certain pages.

Hello, Airplane! shares a simple story of an airplane's journey. Each mixed media illustration is a double page spread with only one sentence for easy reading. This would make an excellent story for first time fliers. It's also a great story for a different perspective of flying. Cotter uses a lot of directional words with his story which is great for young learners.
This book did double duty. In my own home, it was the perfect book to prepare our toddler for an airplane ride and it was a fantastic storytime book! On the plane our little girl kept saying the lines from the book as our plane did the various actions. Highly recommend for toddler storytimes, baby times, and personal use! When parents ask me at the reference desk for a book to help a kid get ready for their first plane ride, I give them this one.
Say hello! The airplane is ready to take off and soar above the clouds.
Sooooo after a couple weeks I actually hardly remember this book at all. I mean, I remember it, but I don't remember much about it, which means 1) it's not that memorable, and 2) (probably related to 1) it didn't get much re-reading at our house. But I think it was cute and served its purpose, and I'm sure we would enjoy it if we read it again.
This is a basic book for 2-3 year olds about airplanes. Simple sentences and facts like how airplanes are filled with people and airplanes fly through the clouds. Nothing too challenging, but maybe if your kid has a fascination with airplanes at a young age they will get a kick out of this.
Young children who have ridden on a plane or who live near an airport and observe planes gliding above their home, will enjoy this book many times over. Mixed media is used to create bold illustrations, and the text on each page is simple. Very nice story for the younger set!
This is a great book for very young readers who are learning about airplanes and all of the places they fly. It helps build vocabulary; there are only a couple of words on each page, and the images are large and colorful. I would recommend for ages 3 and under.
Wonderful, wonderful book. Loved the shifting perspective of the illustrations as you follow the plane's journey. Text is cleverly integrated into the illustrations. Could be used for preparing a child for their first flight, indulging in their airplane fascination, or introducing prepositions.
Colorful illustrations and an easy storyline make this a great book to prepare a child for a plane trip or accompany the child on the trip. My son loved the pictures and relating it to his experience on a plane.
Such a wonderfully illustrated picture book. I can't wait to get my hands on a hard copy as I think the illustrations will be even better. A great book for kids of all ages.
