My best friend dropped a bombshell, leaving me shattered. The past came rushing back and threatened to consume me.
No one knew. How could they? I spent the last decade putting everyone else first. Anything to keep the attention off me.
Because I was over him.
Over us.
It didn’t matter until it did.
Alcohol numbed the pain, making it easy to fall back into the arms of what never should have been.
Now, we’re stuck planning a wedding together.
I wouldn’t make the same mistake twice.
My broken heart couldn’t be ignored.
Evan
With a father like mine, I was blind to see how badly I screwed up all those years ago. Time changed a lot of things, but she still had the same effect on me as she had nearly fifteen years ago when we first met.
We shared a past, something we kept to ourselves and moved on from.
Or so I thought.
A reconnection, a drunken night, made me realize she did something to me no other woman ever had.
She was a force to be reckoned with, and if I didn’t fix my ways and be the man she needed, I would watch her walk away like I did nearly a decade ago.
Only this time, I don’t think I’ll ever get over it.
She was mine, and I would make her see it.
Although this book is a standalone with a HEA, it is best read in order as the characters make appearances in each book.
Missy is an Australian author who writes kissing books with equal parts angst and steam. She loves writing stories about billionaires, enemies to lovers, and the boy next door- just to name a few.
When she’s not writing, she’s taking care of her two daughters and doting husband.
Inspired by the acreage she lives on, Missy regularly distracts herself by visiting her orchard… some days more often than writing!
Then there’s her overweight cat, Charlie, chickens, and bees if she needed another excuse to pass the time.
And, when the day ends, there’s nothing better than unwinding with a gin and tonic as the sunsets surrounded by the ones she loves.
Valentina is the story I have waited so long for … we all knew there was a deep dark secret to her and her life journey, but I never imaged it was this.
Please read trigger warnings before proceeding… this story is told with such love and understanding… but it is still a big trigger.
Evan, oh my lord, he has always been in the background, or on the fringe, but man when he steps up he steps up in a huge way. I love how he learned, matured and grew as a part of these characters.
These two characters had so much to process and deal with, whilst still dealing with everyday life struggles.
Loved it and I can’t wait to see Lucien get his ass chewed and handed back to him in a paper bag 😍😍
You have taken us through all of the emotions in Valentina & Evan’s story! Their secret relationship, which ended in loss that Valentina never truly healed from. Their journey back to each other, for a second chance romance, includes forgiveness, healing and love. So beautiful! Oh, and it wouldn’t be a Missy Walker story without the spice! 🔥 This is my favorite of the Elite Heirs to date! Thank you, Missy!!
Missy delivers a story of second chance and love after loss flawlessly. This story healed parts of my soul I didn’t even know needed healing. She captured thoughts and feelings I’ve had on my own and did it beautifully. Evan and Valentina have a chemistry that is raw and explosive and sweeps you up right from page one. I love how this book falls in the universe of the Elites and their Heirs and how we still get to see all of our favorite characters while meeting and loving new ones. This book was special and Missy nailed it. 10/10. The spice was spicing, but, the love was even better.
ARC review: Took me a few days after reading to process and write the review. The story really hit home with pregnancy loss and and the different ways each person deals with it. I love how Missy doesn’t shy away from these hard topics, and this 2nd chance romance with a huge miscommunication trope between Evan and Valentina created a beautiful story that I was hooked on from the very beginning. Thank you Missy for another amazing story!!

Missy Walker has done it again!!!! I finished this book in 2 days because I wasn't able to put the book down. It is very hard reading the trauma that Valentina has gone through. Valentina has used that tragedy to build walls and throw her self into her career. It is wonderful to see Valentina and Evan come together after the unfortunate tragedy they went through as teenagers. Evan wanted to prove himself to Valentina that he could be the man she needed. She made him work for it but Evan stepped up to challenge and then some.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice/Steam: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Relationship: MW Tropes/Trigger: Pregnancy loss (from the past but mentioned in first chapter), second chance Series: Elite Heirs of Manhattan #4
Synopsis The book starts out strong with the mention of a past pregnancy loss. It isn’t graphic but the lasting emotional effects appear in parts of the book.
Valentina is planning a lavish wedding for her cousin and childhood best friend on a very short notice. She works with a past fling, Evan, who is a staple in the friend group. Feelings grow hot and cold due to mistakes and miscommunication from a decade ago, which they never confronted or spoke about.
Review
The spice was a bit lacking and most of the scenes were cut short. But this story seems to be more about emotional heartbreak on several levels and coming out on the other side. Normally I would love such a story as I am deeply entrenched in this book’s world (I read and loved the 9 affiliated books which occur before this one) but for some reason it just did not resonate with me. There’s also a glaring story inconsistency, which I will explain below since it’s a spoiler.
Spoiler - Story Inconsistency . . . . . . . . . After teenage Valentina and Evan break up after she tells him she is pregnant, she says she ignored Evan’s calls and texts. One such text said he would support whatever decision she makes. (Page 120 on Kindle: “We hadn’t spoken in three weeks, ever since he left for Harvard. He’d tried to reach out through texts and calls, but I didn’t bother answering.” And this is the message “Evan: Talk to me, we can work this out, I’m behind whatever you decide to do.”)
But towards the end of the book, Valentina and Evan both claim he didn’t reach out at all and didn’t ask what she was going to do about the baby. (Page 185 on Kindle: ““You never thought to ask me what I wanted to do about the baby,” I reminded him.” And page 186: “and I punked out and didn’t call you because I was sure you didn’t want to talk to me.”
This was such a beautifully written acknowledgement, of what has happened to so many, and the book that broke me. I want to acknowledge that Missy has done a sensitive subject such justice, despite the tears.
Valentina is the type A personality who is always working, always putting others first, even to her detriment. She is planning the wedding of Rose and Colton, but when she finds out they are pregnant and everything has to be expedited, her past comes flooding back. Just because the physical recovery has come and gone, those emotional scars are still deep and raw.
Evan notices this at the time, but being part of this himself, he has never dealt with any of it himself, so doesn't know what to do or say. He never had great parent role models, so is ability to process some of his own emotions fall flat. Evan and Valentina had a relationship has teenagers/young adults, but that moment in time hangs over them, one covering up and one in denial. They rekindle a sexual (I'll scratch your itch, you scratch mine) relationship, but it isn't long before the past breaks. There connection has always been intense, but when raw emotions are still there, and finally need to be addressed, we see Evan and Valentina both having to face their shared past. So beautifully written, and they are my favourite couple in this series. Even though this can be read as a standalone, in my opinion it is best read in order to make sense of the context, and the other "heirs". Loved this so so much.
Firstly I’m sure we’re all thinking it but FINALLY we know who Evan is😂😂
This is probably my favourite book from the Elite Heirs series soo far, although I’ll save some space for Lucian to sweep me away just like his parents did😉
I am a big Valentina fan, her personality really shon through, confident, determined, driven, hard worker, sassy, doesn’t take bs & then the kinky, flirty side too. Her story is soo much more different, more relatable, soo heart breaking, I shed more than a few tears with her. I loved how even though she’s a twin, they are very much their own person with different personalities. I of course was a fan of Evan, his work ethic, his appreciation of Valentina was very noticeable, you could tell he thinks very highly of her. Their chemistry was off the charts HOT! Loved all their smut but that office scene where Valentina rewards him for answering her questions🔥🔥🥵 woooo! Such a work-a-holic she is😂
I’m trying hard to not give spoilers but the emotions were high in this one, I really felt for Valentina & I completely understood why many of the functions were too much for her, unhealed trauma really likes to show once we’re triggered. In the end, my favourite of course the HEA, loved them reconnecting but that little surprise at the end was beautiful🥹my heart was soo happy for them but more so Valentina. Oooh I just love this series soo much😩😩😩
Can’t wait for Lucian, if he’s anything like his dad😮💨 but then again his mum was🥵🥵
Silent Cravings is the fourth book in the Elite Heirs of Manhattan series and is the story of Valentina and Evan.
Evan and Valentina grew up together within their friend group but at 18 each discovered their attraction for the other and fell head first into a secret relationship. As college looms for Evan, an unexpected event causes him to walk away from Valentina when she needs him the most. When tragedy strikes Valentina is left alone to deal with the hurt, without ever truly facing it and healing from it.
Ten years later, Valentina is a successful event planner and Evan owns several country clubs. When a mutual friend is getting married, both must work together to pull the wedding off, despite their complicated past. As the months pass, their mutual attraction is undeniable but can Valentina heal from the past enough to trust Evan with her future?
This was a beautiful story of heartache, acceptance and healing from past traumas as well as learning to trust in the people you love. There was a lot of vulnerability for both Valentina and Evan as they dealt with their shared trauma as well as dealing with their families.
I would recomment this book to lover's of second chance romance who like a little steam to their stories. Truly a heartfelt story that touches on sensitive subjects and how they can have lasting effects but not keep the characters from their HEA.
I was very excited for Valentina & Evan's story ever since the epilogue of Sinful Desires and this book did not disappoint.
The second chance trope was explored in Silent Cravings through the issues of miscommunication and misunderstandings between Valentina and Evan in both their past and present. Although these issues may appear to be frustrating, the way they eventually overcame the issues demonstrates character growth that their younger selves were not able to attain, which as a reader really felt like a train ride of feels!
Valentina as a FMC was very relatable in the sense that she used her strong work ethics to hide her vulnerability which was a tactic which could only lead her so far. This made me just want to give her a hug! Although Evan has his own insecurities, the two were able to emotionally connect through wanting to support each other through their struggles.
Moreover, although the book provides a great insight into what happened between Valentina and Evan in their past, it would have been an even harder hit in the feels if the reader was provided more backstory on how they first met and eventually fell for each other as adolescents. The 5 star steak continues nonetheless and I'm looking forward to Lucien's story!
This book is about Aria's twin sister, Valentina, a very successful events planner and Evan (Colton's best friend from school) and owner and manager of several Country Clubs. These two characters are thrown together to help plan Rose and Colton's wedding. As we read further we find out that these two have a history together which involves a love affair when they were teenagers. Valentina has never recovered from the repercussions and Evan has always felt she was the one who got away. This book explored their innermost thoughts and was full of angst. Both are very likeable characters, though I felt Evan was quite weak up until the end when he actually started acting like a thirty year old man. Valentina was such a champion and so independent which was also a bit to her detriment in their situation. This book is well written and I especially enjoyed the bonus book which is available with the author's newsletter sign-up. I must admit that this was my least favourite of all the Elite Heirs books, even though it was a good read. I received an ARC and this is a voluntary review.
Silent Cravings is a beautiful second chance love story, but there is so much more to this book!
Before you continue reading my review, please know - trigger warning for past miscarriage.
The way Missy wrote Valentina's character from book one of the Elite Heirs series had me loving her and relating to the overachieving, people pleasing tendencies. I knew there was something traumatic in her past, but didn't know what it was. Valentina compartmentalized her grief for 10 years until a surprise announcement at Rose and Colton's engagement party. At this party, Evan, her past secret summer romance and father to the baby she lost, makes eye contact across the room. The process for the two of them to talk and hash out their emotions is a rollercoaster of emotions. When Valentina finally comes out and tells Evan all the hurt she experienced I cried.
This was beautifully written! The journey Evan and Valentina go through to get their HEA is another hit, and one you don't want to miss out on!
Thank you to the author for an advanced copy of Silent Cravings, in exchange for an honest review.
Oh, how I love this book!!! I’ve been looking forward to Valentina and Evan’s story. They had a fling when they were teenagers but they both have a lot of baggage from that relationship. There are a lot of miscommunications and misunderstandings that have built up between them over time. While it can be frustrating at times, seeing how they grow and work through their issues is truly rewarding.
Valentina’s vulnerability, hidden behind her strong work ethic, really pulls at the heart. Though I would have loved to see more about their teenage years and how they first fell for each other, the emotional bond between Valentina and Evan is still powerful.
Overall, Silent Cravings is a heartfelt and satisfying read, especially for fans of second-chance romances. I truly enjoyed this book and if you love second-chance romance books like me, you will surely love this one as much as me. 5 Stars!!!
I’d been looking forward to this book, purely because valentina had intrigued me in the last book, so I wanted to get to know her character more. It gave me ALL the feels, SO well written, very delicate subject matter and it was written with a lot of care. I think this is my fave book of the series so far and I’ve loved them all! I was rooting for Evan, he clearly hadn’t had much of a ‘closeness’ growing up and you could see the communicative barriers between him and valentina, I loved how we saw them plan Rose and Colton’s wedding, bringing all the characters back in. I cried, I laughed and the spice is always just right! I really resonated with Valentina and I felt a relief for her for getting to where she did by the end of the book. She had been through a lot and I felt almost ‘proud’ of Evan for being brave and opening up to get what he truly wanted. Fabulous Missy, just fabulous! Can’t wait for the next one!
This might be my favorite Missy Walker book. I *think* it's because I didn't hate the MMC from the get-go. 😂
Seeing glimpses of Valentina & Evan throughout the earlier #EliteHiersofManhattan books made getting to know them in Silent Cravings so much more fulfilling. It was easy to translate their assertiveness and humor into a heartbreaking second-chance love story.
Ten years ago, their summer fling ended for all the wrong reasons. Their tight circle of friends has kept them in contact, but neither acknowledge their shared history. It takes being forced into a business project together to reopen real communication and ignite the spark they've been denying.
I don’t know what Missy puts in her books but they are SO ADDICITIVE! Every book of her is pure perfection. Silent cravings was an amazing new book in the fabulous series. It was great to return to these amazing families. These fictional people really have my heart. It really feels like I know them so well.
The story of Valentina and Evan was heartbreaking good. I was always very curious about Valentina's dark secret, I could not have imagined it would be so sad. I felt so sorry for her. Missy is great; the way she has written about this delicate subject is so beautiful and so sensitive. Can’t wait for the next book!
Wow.. Once again you wrote and amazing book. This one is right up there at the top of my list. This book proved that love and hard work can help heal and move forward in life with life’s struggles. The book pulled at the heart strings but the devotion and feeling these 2 people have is amazing . This story was so close to the heart that many people can relate to,It had so much love and passion. Loved the bonus book that lets us see how they are in the future . This book was awesome. I would recommend it 100%. Looking forward to Lucien story .
5 stars – Silent Cravings by Missy Walker is book 4 of Elite Heirs of Manhattan series. This is the story of Valentina & Evan, and you don’t want to miss it! Val and Evan have a history full of spice and sadness but now they are older, wiser and more successful. The spice is spicier, and the feelings are more mature and intense. I loved these two together so much! They complement each other well in both the business and personal aspects of life. The chemistry is hot! A big Thank you to Missy Walker for allowing me to read an ARC.
All of the feels. This was a book that many woman can relate to, from the miscarriage to the back story with Evan. Missy tells Valentina’s story and goes through all of the emotions spot on! I could feel all of them while reading. She even plays out Evan and being a typical “boy” obvious to some things so well. But ohh how I loved how she makes Evan grow and mature throughout the story. Their relationship is one that so many know and can understand so well. And the Bonus scene was the icing on the cake and the absolute perfect end to their story. Can not wait for Lucien’s story!
Ten years ago Valentina and Evan had a secret romance - it ended in heartbreak and loss. Silent Cravings is their second chance at love. Old feelings arise when they work together on a wedding, but will they ever talk about the issue that broke them apart.
Check your trigger warnings before going in as this one covers the topic of miscarriage. The topic is broached with tenderness, sensitivity and love.
It’s a well written short story with love, tenderness and spice. Thank you @missywalkerauthor for the e-ARC of this story. Another gem.
I love a great redemption/ second chance love story. I think the topic of miscarriage was handled sensitively and I recognised a lot of the emotions described. It seems to be a topic that isn’t discussed much but actually experienced by a lot of people so nice to see representation. It was interesting to expand on Valentina and Evan characters (and perhaps why they are like they are) as they’ve been supporting characters in the previous Heirs books. It’s all tying together nicely, can’t wait for the next one!
Great book. Evan and Valentina were a wonderful couple.
After a one night stand years before, Valentina and Evan have another night together, but where Valentina is going to walk away again, Evan wants to prove they have something.
So much drama but great banter between the two. Started with friction but they have a connection that's built on tragedy. Chemistry certainly was there though.
Well written but also an easy read. The writing style enjoyable and characters that were believable. A really enjoyable book!
ARC review: I’ve been waiting for Valentina’s story and Missy didn’t disappoint. I just love this series. This story does have a pregnancy loss trigger but it was done so beautifully. it’s not in graphic detail but if this is sensitive for you, read with caution. While not my favorite of the Elite Heirs series, I did still enjoy it. But I’ll be honest, Noah and Sienna’s story (Sweet Surrender) has my heart.
As with any Missy book you can expect the spice to be as good as the plot. I can’t wait for the next one.

Wow Missy Walker has outdone yourself with this one. The detailed passionate scenes of late teenage to adult love, combined with the delicate way she wove in a mother’s buried emotions after miscarriage made this her best novel yet. Before it was Forbidden Lust. But, this one blew that out of the water. The bonus chapter was a nice closing finale to their story. Can’t wait to have the details somewhere in the future about their spectacular wedding!

I have loved every installment in the Elite Heirs of Manhattan Series, and Silent Cravings is no exception. This latest addition is a beautifully crafted tale that explores themes of second chances and healing after loss.
Overall, Silent Cravings is a wonderful read that will stay with me long after the final page. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a heartfelt story that beautifully intertwines healing and hope.
Valentina and Evan have history that their group are not aware of. It’s been ten years since they were secretly together back in school it did not end well when he wasn’t there when she needed him. They have never talked about it but when her cousin Colton and fiancée Rose higher her to do their wedding with only months to do it she is forced to work with Even to get it done and feeling surface. Grab a copy to see how they manage
Silent Cravings follows Valentina and Evan, two former lovers forced to confront their past and rekindle their connection while planning a wedding. As old wounds resurface and emotions reignite, they must decide whether to heal or walk away. This emotional romance explores themes of regret, second chances, and vulnerability.
This story got me tearing up a good. Love the characters again and how close this group of kids are. I’m enjoying reading about all of them and their challenges and love stories. Missy is such a brilliant writer, love all her books and this one certainly doesn’t disappoint. Evan and Valentina and their history is another different story with its twist. Lucky last Lucian’s story next. Can’t wait!
