Тягучий текст. Совершенно потерянно временное измерение - непонятно, когда происходяь события, сколько дней или месяцев проходит между главами. Только ближе к концу что-то оформляется. От этого ощущение, будто бы ничего не происходит. Может, это добавляет к картине "провинциальной" жизни.

В целом, удиаительно много очень современных или, тогда уж, вневременных рассуждений.

I thought that this is something like russian Ayn Rand. It was stupid, I know, but one guy told me that in this novel people are permanently creating something, making deals, building plants on each page. So I expected at least some activity and labor feats. He lied. This is usual story about russian landlords - with love, gossips, greed and weak will.

Разочаровалась, потому что в целом это аморфный роман с персонажами, не знающими, чего они хотят и не внушающими большого сочувствия или даже интереса к их дальнейшим судьбам. Есть любопытные детали, но только-только автор начнет оживленно описывать устройство завода или там разгул на ирбитской ярмарке, или жизнь в деревне, как тут же сам себя останавливает, перепрыгивает через год вперед, и снова никому ничего не интересно.

The last hundred pages are more interesting, the first 300 pages are rather dull. It's a story about capitalism, love and greed in 19th century Siberia. Author is a good observer but a boring storyteller.

Zdecydowanie będę chciał zapoznać się z innymi pracami Mamina-Sibiriaka. Plusem jest miejsce akcji na dalekiej peryferii. Nie jest aż tak napuszona i tendencyjna, jak wiele powieści z epoki.

Суть «Приваловских миллионов» Дмитрия Мамина сводится к описанию жизни тридцатилетнего человека, вернувшегося домой на Урал, которому нужно срочно жениться. Это главное и основное в повествовании. Всё остальное воспринимается фоном и не даёт точных представлений о жизни провинциальных людей и тяжёлых условий труда заводчан. Подобное ранее встречалось у других классиков, особенно у Александра Островского. Единственное, что бросается в глаза, образ главного героя, опередивший своё время. Он чрезмерно мягок, но уже обозначил нарождающуюся кончину государства.
