From quiet obedience to bold defiance, Salome’s stand places her fate in jeopardy.

Salome bat Joseph struggled to make herself heard as the youngest of eight siblings, often choosing silence over conflict. Raised fatherless and cared for by her oldest brother Jesus, His strong, nurturing presence was the only fatherly influence she had known.

After Jesus revealed Himself as the Messiah, Salome eagerly followed Him, inspired by His strength and the transformative power He represented. Under His guidance, she learns to use her voice to advocate for change and to speak the truth with boldness.

When the Pharisees send one of their own to hunt down followers of the Way, Salome bravely speaks out against them. Her defiance leads to her imprisonment by the Romans, leaving her fate uncertain. Will Salome’s words secure her freedom, or will they seal her doom?

Explore the passion, conflict, and sacrifice of the early church in Salome, Book 7 of the Servant Siblings series.

It would be easier to stay silent.

Easier to let someone else speak up.
Easier to pray quietly and avoid the consequences.
Easier to believe and still blend in.

But Salome chose the harder thing. The holy thing. The Christ-exalting thing. She stepped forward when the cost was steep and the danger real. And somehow, reading this story, I felt that quiet question rise in me: Would I?

“I’m not like you, Jesus. I can’t speak to crowds. No one will listen to me.”
That line stopped me cold. Because some days—I feel that too. Some days the whisper of inadequacy rings louder than the truth I know. But then this story reminded me: it’s His voice in me that matters. Not mine.

This book doesn’t water down persecution. It doesn’t romanticize boldness. It shows the bruises. The fear. The chains. And yet it breathes courage into every chapter.
“Then I am a fool for Jesus.”
Yes. That’s the hill I want to stand on. That’s the name I want to bear.

Salome’s fire wasn’t in her volume—it was in her conviction. In the way her soul refused to surrender to fear, because Jesus had already freed her from death’s grip. “Our souls are free from the wages of death… No matter what happens to our bodies.” That truth? That truth stands taller than any guard, any prison, any earthly threat.

This story gripped me in the quiet places where I sometimes hide my voice. It reminded me what we carry as believers: not just a message, but a Messiah. One who still gives ordinary women extraordinary courage. One who still empowers the silent to speak and the weary to endure. One who still meets us in the dark and calls us Lioness.

Because the truth hasn’t changed:
Jesus is risen.
The world still resists Him.
And His followers still stand in that tension,
—brave, blood-bought, and unashamed.

Let me be found among them.

Salome is another fantastic book written by the well known Christian historical fiction writer named Jenifer Jennings. Salome is book 7, a stand alone novel, of the sibling servant series namely sibling of Jesus Christ.
The reader is transported back in time to the village where Jesus walked and taught. Sticking close to the Bible this writer shows that beautiful Salome had the words of her brother imprinted in her heart and she acted accordingly. Her faith transformed her to endure much in this story and she stood strong despite severe persecution and uplifted others with songs of praise for Jesus. Jesus knew what Salome would endure and he nicknamed her Lioness which she bore well. The author also does a fantastic job of portraying the transformation of Paul through his conversion and repentance. I loved that Salome enjoyed climbing the olive trees. In the book Jesus had taught her years before how to climb and in the closing scene of the book Salome does just that. She is able to really see far and wide just as her faith lifted her above all she endured. I highly recommend this book and the entire series. You will be enthralled.

Salome’s story is one of self-sacrifice, love and great faith. I have anxiously awaited this story of Jesus’ youngest sibling and it was worth the wait!
We see Salome struggle with the call that her brother has given her. She battles through situations that would stop most people in their tracks.
I highly recommend this whole series Now that this one is out you can read the whole series starting with James and go straight through to Salome!

I have waited patiently, ok maybe not so patiently, for this book about Salome to come out and Jennings did not disappoint!! Salome’s faith was convicting and inspiring at the same time. Her steadfast love and commitment to Christ ran through in every page and was so encouraging. This series was beautifully written and such a joy to read. A must read for anyone who enjoys Bib fic!

Salome is the 7th and last book of the Servant Siblings series, with each book based on a sibling to Jesus and how they reacted to Jesus, as their brother and as the Messiah. While it can be read as a standalone book, you understand and appreciate other characters in the previous books if you read them in order.
Salome is the youngest of the siblings and her story opens as both the Jewish and Romans are oppressing the new Christians.
Jenifer's descriptive writes pulls you into the Jerusalem, immersing you into the environment and culture, making you feel the fear of the times and inspiring you with the beautifully written faith and courage of the early church.
Salome starts out timid, helping the widows, and yet prompted and obedient to the Holy Spirit, continues to tell her brothers parables to the point of incarceration. Salome's steadfast commitment to remain a Christian despite the torture, near starvation, and terrible suffering brought tears to my eyes and I couldn't put the book down wanting to see what happened next.
The incarnation is depicted in quite a bit of detail, unflinching but not too graphic and helping us see the courage in the circumstances.
Weaving in the subplots of Saul/Paul, her brother James and others added to the overall story.
For me, book ended a bit too soon/abruptly and there were some unanswered questions regarding the jailer, and a few other things.
I highly recommend the entire series and Salome is captivating final book that is a must read for those who want a biblical story that will inspire you to be courageous, faithful and loving despite your circumstances. A note of gratitude to the author for the ARC, all opinions expressed are my own. I enjoyed it so much, I also purchased a copy for myself.

For we are the sweet fragrance of Christ [which ascends] to God, [discernible both] among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing;
2 Corinthians 2:15 AMP
This verse could easily be the theme of this novel on Salome, the youngest sibling and sister of Jesus during his life here on earth.

Scripture asserts Jesus had four brothers and more than one sister (Matthew 13:55-56). Jennings has written a novel around each sibling and their reactions to Jesus, his Messiahship and His divine origins. This one, is about Salome the youngest of the siblings.

Jesus was not only her big brother, he also was a father figure since Salome barely remembered Joseph who died when she was an infant.

Salome not only knew Jesus as her brother, but also recognised him as Lord and Messiah, boldly proclaiming it. This earned her the usual "reward", from the Sanhedrin and Rome.

A beautifully woven tapestry of suffering, endurance, praise and love, the evidence of a changed heart and life, this novel explores themes like sacrificial love, persecution, injustice, love, loyalty, friendship and so much more...

The writing is fluid and one can so easily imagine oneself back in Jerusalem with the disciples during the persecution by Saul.

My only complaint is that it ended too abruptly. I felt she was just getting warmed up to a longer story timeline when it was cut off.

Buy this book and you'll want to devour the others in the series. I received an ARC copy, but this endorsement is made of my own free will.

Preorder Salome, before it's debut on May 16th 2025.

This story of Salome shows her ability through God to speak up in defiance, but also places her life in danger. I was so inspired by her, knowing that because of her boldness, she would suffer badly for not denying Jesus.

The descriptions of biblical times made me feel as though I was there. The characters have many layers and are very inspirational. Paul's transformation from persecuting the Christians to helping them was told wonderfully. The story is filled with despair, loss, guilt, faith, and truth. I enjoyed the story and couldn't put it down. Highly recommended.

Salome bat Joseph is naturally timid - but after receiving the promise of the Father at Pentecost, the fire of the Holy Spirit is lit within her, enabling her to be a witness of the Good News of Jesus - even in the harshest and most harrowing of circumstances!

We see Salome going from the affectionate nickname (little lion cub) given to her by her big Brother, to what He has always known that she would be - a lioness who would roar Truth - even under pain and persecution.

The subplot with Saul of Tarsus was also a poignant reminder of the goodness of the Gospel grace and the redemptive power of forgiveness.

What an encouraging story - for such a time as this!

Salome: Captivating 1st Century Biblical Novel (Servant Siblings Book 7), my sixteenth read from Christian author Jenifer Jennings. An amazing 210-page well-written fictionalized expansion of Biblical times. “I received a complementary Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I'll definitely be reading more from this author and look forward to Jenning's next book, Leading Philippi: Epaphroditus' Story (Paul's Patrons Book 1) when it's published in October of this year. RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

This one was a bit slower than the rest of the series, because most of the book takes place in a prison. Salome is imprisoned for disturbing the peace after telling some of Jesus’s parables at a gathering of followers of the Way. Her courage and endurance through her ordeal is inspiring to read. Saul is also a major force is this book. It’s always interesting to see the radical change in him on the road to Damascus.

Salome, Jesus’s youngest sibling loves telling the stories she heard Jesus tell. All of the people who heard her wanted to hear more, and they brought friends. She was not bashful or shy about speaking out for her brother, who was seated now on the right hand of God. She does get arrested by Saul, for her boldness, and while imprisoned, she encourages all others, even non-believers through her beautiful songs of Psalms that the Christians sang along with her. She is beaten repeatedly, thrown down in the pit for long periods of time, and became very thin and weak. All the while, fleas, and mice bit her body and she got lice. Hiram, one of her family’s friends, would bring her treats, but usually the guards ate it before they threw her the empty basket. She had no way of keeping track of the time. But, one day, her cell door flung open, and it was Saul! She scurried to the wall of the cell, but he assured her he didn’t come to hurt her. He had her wrist and ankle chains unlocked and she was free! She stared into the eyes of Saul and saw that he had the same fire in his eyes that she had gotten when she received the Holy Spirit! Saul’s story was spread from house to house with Salome’s insistence that he was no longer the man he had been. I loved the ending of this wonderfully written book, but I will not spoil it for anyone! Please get this book for yourself. You’ll be so glad you did! 🙏

Touched my heart

and made me cry. These novels bring the Biblical stories to life. So touching, heart-wrenching, heart-warming and challenging. Started reading them three years ago, and just bought the actual book #1 for a friend who doesn’t have Kindle. Read them, the reward is well worth your time. Jenifer, your writing reminds me of my Bodie Thoene books!

excellent read

I have read all the ‘Servant Sibling’ novels and each has been unique. Salome’s story was difficult to read full of her terrible suffering because she refused to deny her brother Jesus was the Messiah. All these books are good to read and I greatly recommend them.

Good story, but…

Spoiler alert. I found Salome’s character to be a bit unbelievable. I do not think she would’ve survived her three years of imprisonment. All the torture, neglect, and abuse would have exacted its toll on her life.

What a moving account of the life of the youngest sister of Jesus! While fictional, there was a lot of attention to factual details from Scripture of the lives of Jesus’ siblings and other influential followers of Jesus in the years after His death and resurrection. The author portrayed the persecution and suffering of the Way Followers in such vivid detail that it brought tears to my eyes as I was reading it. Also, the intimate relationship of Salome with her oldest brother Jesus while she was growing up, and after His death and resurrection, was poignant and very inspiring. This story will stay with me for a very long time. I received an advanced copy of this book from the author, and have given my voluntary and honest opinion.

Author Jenifer Jennings Servant Siblings Series is first Century Biblical Fiction featuring Jesus’ brothers and sisters. His younger sister, Salome Bat Joseph, is a powerful example of self-sacrifice. After their father Joseph died, Jesus nurtures his younger sister Salome. After He reveals He is the promised Messiah, Salome eagerly follows Him which puts her in conflict with the Pharisees who send one of their own to track down Followers of the Way. Outspoken Salome finds herself imprisoned by the Romans. Will her words assure her freedom or is her fate sealed? Author Jennings does thorough research with historical and Biblical facts. I have enjoyed this series and wonder how awesome it felt when Jesus revealed himself as Messiah. I recommend this author and this series.

We know that Jesus had four brothers named in the Bible named James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon. We also know that he had sisters who aren’t named in the Bible. This is the seventh Biblical fiction book, Jenifer Jennings has written about Jesus’ siblings.

Salome is the youngest of the family. She never knew her father. She had the influence of Jesus as a father figure. She learned the stories he told and was able to tell others. . She went through persecution, yet she stayed strong. Throughout the book, we can see her faith grow I plan to read the first six books at some point in time.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book. No positive review was required. The above opinions are my own.
