What a wonderful story, I enjoyed reading this book.
My disclaimer... I was given a copy of this book for my honest review. Any book or novels I leave reviews on are not dependent on the book/novel review author’s opinion. No one influenced my voluntary review for any of the books or novels I read, they are my own opinions.
Wow! The author hit this one out of the park. I so enjoyed this new trilogy start. This one has got to be my favorite so far. I look forward to the other two in this series. I anxiously await the others. I do heartily recommend this book.
An engaging book about Rebekka and her early years with her birth family. The author has done an excellent job of writing a story that pulls you into aspects of this young girl's life. Of course, this is merely fictional, but the story is so gripping that it was difficult to put down and I experienced every emotion on the spectrum - and tears were shed a few times. Great characters as we get to meet her father, mother, younger brother, uncles, "nanny", etc. The sheep were such an integral part (each named by Rebekka) and her precious dog that was always by her side. This book is such a beautifully told story that I encourage any readers to grab this!
I received an ARC copy of this book. I was under no obligations to post a review. This is my voluntary, honest and completely personal review. VICKI FROM WYOMING
The Stranger (The Rebekah Series, Book 1), my seventh read from Christian author Jenifer Jennings and the first book in her new Rebekah Series. A well-written fictionalized expansion of the Biblical story of Rebekah told from her perspective. I’ll definitely be reading more by this author and look forward to the next book in this series! (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
I received a complimentary ARC of this book from the author. I enjoyed the story very much and found it quite interesting.
It is the imagined story of the life of Rebekah before she becomes Isaac’s wife. It’s entertaining and gives the reader much insight into the life and times of the ancient people who lived during the earliest days of our earth. It is also an allegory of sorts as to how God loves and cares for us - He is the Great Shepherd, and we are His sheep. It gives insight into human character as well as God’s character.
Rebekah is a strong character - intelligent, insightful, and capable of much; perhaps a bit unusual for a woman in her culture, but then again, we learn from Scripture that God had a special purpose for her, so I guess that would make anyone a bit unusual.
I most definitely enjoyed this book. I found myself thinking about it often for days after I finished it. To me, that is the sign of a great book!
Beautiful start on Rebekah's story. I am not sure if she was a shepherdess herself in the Bible but in this story she is. And I enjoyed learning so much about sheep because there were a lot of parallels with us and Jesus.
I enjoyed the fictional background of how Rebecca could have been. It did portray a young woman with strength to pick up and leave her family for the unknown. And God's guidance in it.
