Morty: ...a dog's story

Morty, a Cocker Spaniel, was living with two men who were having trouble paying the rent, so they took him for a ride, and let him go to fend for himself. He found himself a new home, by wandering into a Minor League baseball stadium, and into a home of one of the players. He becomes something of a celebrity, which gives his former owners ideas of getting him back. His life is now in danger, and the whole city he lives in is in turmoil, while everyone struggles to find him.
