Mari Barstow has a come-hither voice, luscious curves and a face that makes a devoted husband anxious to abandon his wife. She's a singer destined for stardom, determined to make the grade, and willing to pay the piper. So it doesn't figure that she'd disappear just a few short days before her scheduled debut in big time TV, at least not of her free will. When ace investigator Steve Conacher sets out to track down a missing TV singer, he discovers that a killer is setting the stage for murder.
Before I got into anything else in my rather hectic life, I knew I was a writer. From a young age trying to write stories about Star Wars, expanding on comic book theories - basically creating "FanFics" before there ever was such a term, I knew that writing was my true passion in life.
Now that I am adult (shudder) and have fallen off the written path a touch, I find myself with a new hope, a new vigor.
But more on that later.
Check out the links provided. I am excited about writing again and making a real go of this. So many stories in my head.
This 1959 thriller has a terrific pace that kept me turning pages quickly.
A private detective is hired to investigate the disappearance of Mari Barstow, an up and coming starlet. Her vanishing, which seems to be part of her personality, would bring bad press to the studio that holds her contract. They need her found to perform on a television show that's coming up quick.
Steve Conacher, the PI, finds himself finding out that Mari has her claws into several men who would do anything for her and many women that are afraid of this mean girl. Things speed up when a body is found, stabbed, and another, and another. Who's killing people and where is Mari?
Great read that spans the elite entertainers to the drunk and drugged hippies. I would definitely read more from Adam Knight.
