Well, yes, this title is dated in format and probably appeal to children, but as an adult with a long time interest in children’s literature this title was a wealth of insight into the artistry of Denise Fleming. Reading Fleming’s own words about the influences for her art style was fascinating. The influence of two diverse grandmothers who shared their love of growing flowers and vegetables was fascinating.
Now I know why I love her work so much , it is the gardening influence and her love of Impressionism my favorite are style is all reflected in her picture books. With excessive verbiage I learned about the genesis of what inspires Denise Fleming to create. Of course I left out a couple of her influences just for a reader of this title to discover.
