Jess Williams #28

The Bounty Hunters

Rate this book
Jess is on the hunt for more wanted men when he suddenly realizes that he is the one being hunted. It seems that the other bounty hunters in the business are getting frustrated with Jess, who keeps collecting on all the larger bounties on wanted men. The bounty hunters then conspire to take him out of the business once and for all.

Basil Thorndike, the second best bounty hunter in the business, who helped Jess a while back, becomes an unlikely ally and helps Jess again against the mounting number of bounty hunters attempting to kill him. True to his nature, Jess changes the game by going on the offensive, finding and confronting the other bounty hunters and forcing their hand. Lead starts flying and men start dying and Jess wonders if this will finally be his turn to meet the devil.

Typical Jess Williams western. High body count. Some bad men with bounties on their heads, some bounty hunters trying to eliminate Williams' as competition.

Worthless Trash

I looked forward to finding a new western wauthor when I got this book. However, this piece of junk is probably the worst western book I've ever read.
The plot is so thin it's almost invisible. The editing was so bad I lost count of the errors. The dialogue at times is flat and character development is a joke.
Additionally, the story is crude to the point of being disgusting - who wants to read a graphic description of diarrhea in an outhouse?
Jess Williams, a bounty hunter, travels from place to place shooting the bad guys and giving away absurd sums of money to people he believes worthy. The other "good guys" accept his handouts greedily, without any personal pride or self-respect. This is glaringly unrealistic for the story's time period.
I am shocked there are at least 28 volumes in this series. To me it's incredible that such poorly written work would ever be published by any company.
I'm glad the book was free - at least that saved my money from being wasted along with my time.

BACK SHOOTERS

Jesse Williams and Basil Thorndike team up to hunt down killers and there's rumors abound that the other bounty hunters were looking for Jess to kill him, because they felt he was monopolizing the bounty business. So they were out to kill him any way they could. Basil Thorndike, was also out to kill Jess but instead joined forces with him. Because he did this he learned a lot from Jess and he earned enough money to start a horse ranch in southern Texas. Jess helps a father and daughter who lost their ranch to bandits who beat the father for the location of any monies they might have hidden on the ranch. They burned the ranch after the daughter told them where the money was hidden. It's another good adventure and like all of Jess Williams Series you NEVER get bored the author descriptions of the countryside and saloons that Jess stays at you can feel yourself there also..give the man a new STETSON....keep the camp fires burning....

Good western bounty hunter series.

This is an easy read. I enjoy imagining what it was like in the mid-southwest after the Civil War. Knowing why Jess became a bounty hunter helps to understand why he does it. I like his generosity, and that he has made more friends along the way. When he first started hunting, he was 14-15 and lived a lonely life. Enjoyable reading about his youth and morphing into the man he is now in its book.

The Bounty Hunter s

One of the best by Robert J Thomas. The dangerous saga of Jess Williams continues as he battles murderers, rapists, cut throats and worse, his contemporaries who are hell bent on eliminating their competition. Jess is a hard working bounty hunter who is a master of his profession. A story for all of you western fans. So, "Giddy Up."
