This is a very well researched and documented accounting of the nearly fatal Apollo 13 mission to the moon. You really felt like you were observing this real time and as the mission unfolded and the Mission Control and supporting contractors worked tirelessly to recover the mission and save the astronauts. It really is amazing, given the complexity of the systems and the limitations of technology at that time, that there weren’t more problems and disasters than there were. You really feel the stress - even knowing ahead of time the result. Jim Lovell’s input was key to bringing you into the space capsule/lunar lander - all those switches and systems! You can’t make this stuff up - true stories are always the best! After all these years, it will be exciting to follow the Artemis missions to the moon coming up soon!

A highly detailed and thrilling account of the most incredible feat of perseverance in the history of space travel. The unfamiliar terms can be confusing, the book is naturally technical, and a lot of the sentences are overly long, but the book accomplished what it intended to do with gripping characters, heartfelt messaging, and just the right amount of humor.
