Elijah

Mia Olsen and I were born three hours apart in the same hospital, and we spent every
minute of our first ten years together in a seedy area of Portland, Oregon. Before she left with
her family, we made a pact—if we’re still single at thirty-five, we’ll get married. That day is
getting close, and all I can think about is her…

Mia
Elijah James was my childhood best friend and soulmate, the sweetest boy ever. But it’s
been twenty-five years since we last saw each other, and the man who suddenly drops into
my life a month from my thirty-fifth birthday is hot as sin and as dangerous as the devil
himself.

He still remembers our pact…but he isn’t here to collect. Not yet. First, he requires my
help. I’m a cop…and he needs me to absolve him in a murder I’m investigating. Our past is
firmly in the rearview mirror, but I can’t stop myself from looking back and yearning for
more now. But can I trust him, or is he just someone I used to know?

Mia used to live in the worst side of town in a wretched situation but it was made better by her best friend, Eli, born the same time as her. They were only children but made each other better and happier regardless what was going on around them. Years later, Mia is now a talented policewoman. She is surprised by an intruder in her home only to finally recognise Eli as her assailant. He is involved in a murder that she is investigating. This could have serious consequences on him keeping his promise to marry her when she was certain age. This story simmers as it expands, nicely paced. Thoroughly enjoyed the main characters.

Promise made 25 years ago

I think after years of reading I've become jaded. The stories about the same. But the story sounded like it might be different this time. Fingers crossed.
Boy was I right! The romance was built up they hadn't seen each other in 25 years. The thriller part was well written I was holding my breath.
All in all a very good story very well written

Keeping a promise

Eli and Mia's pact at 10 years old has come back to Mia attached to her old friend and a dangerous situation he's in. The plot is great, overlapping past and present in many ways. They never forgot each other or the promise they made. It's a great crime story and a great love story.

Not the usual love story

I chose this book because a reviewer indicated it wasn’t the usual love story, and it wasn’t. I loved the plot twist and the suspense, the whole cop theme was awesome. I usually read spicy books, this one wasn’t and I still really enjoyed it. I definitely recommend this book to everyone.

Fabulous read

Wow. Mia and Eli picked up right where they left off, as if they had never been apart. It’s a sweet quick read.
