Just a Glorified Advert for their Therapy Clinic

The book contains basic information about primitive reflexes. Nothing you can't find amply online.

The book gives you reasons you should consider primitive reflexes as an issue and gives you just about enough to understand that your child may have reflex integration issues. It also tells you that they can help fix these issues in their clinic.

What it doesn't tell you is clearly how to assess, or understand your child's reflex issues. It doesn't tell you what you can do to fix them. It gives no information on exactly what to do, or what movements might help.

Overall, this is a scant book that is nothing more than a glorified advert for their clinic. There are many more useful books that do cover what you can do.

Very disappointed. I expected much more.

The information brought to light in this book is so so good. I found everything so fascinating!

I have some critique though, because finishing it without any real solutions was disappointing. First of all, some of the writing was repetitive and written in a way that not everyone may understand. I felt that there should have been footnotes or a glossary to help guide you through the information. More charts and illustrations would have been helpful too so that everyone could grasp this information.
And secondly, the basic solution was to come to his office in Iowa and drop a lot of money on his intensive programs. Which is something I might do if I had a severe case, but for an average parent dealing with average issues mentioned in the book there could have been some guidance provided.

Overall it was a good read and wake up call on modern day issues in children.

A generous 3 stars. This was akin to a longer pamphlet of the very basics of primitive reflexes. The theme repeated often was that retained primitive reflexes negatively impact growth and development.

The two charts were gems and I would have loved more information on the pyramid. I appreciated learning which part of the brain were related to which reflex, but don’t necessarily feel like I learned anything new.

Some good intro information on reflexes. However, not much to it overall. As a healthcare professional learning about reflexes, i appreciated some of the inside but overall didn’t learn much new here.

Eh.

Good brief intro to primitive reflexes but ultimately it’s not helpful in any sense as to how to deal or heal them. It was more of a pamphlet of info directing you to marketing for their clinic in Iowa. Just not what I was expecting.

Informative, but I hoped for more points of application besides initiating services at a the author’s therapy clinic.
