I would tag this "cozy," and "buddy comedy" and "road novel." And give it the subtitle, "Kidnapper's Guide to the Galaxy."
Moss, a spaceship pilot, catches Turnip, the ship's custodian, sneaking onto an escape pod. After a moment's deliberation, he tells her to join him. They set off on a journey whose destination only Turnip knows. It beats anything Moss has had planned, so she goes along for the ride. I enjoyed reading about the tight spots, clever escapes, and fanciful intergalactic stops that Moss and Turnip make. The end destination is a fun surprise that I don't want to spoil.
The book was light and fun, so my only complaint is similarly gentle: if it was set so far in the future, why was so much of the slang, music and cultural references (e.g. a ship with stoner vibes) still so 21st century? A minor quibble for 200 pages of solid entertainment.
