A billionaire with money to burn may have finally met his match.
Or she’ll light the match that burns it down.
Paxton Briggs owns the largest online shipping business in the world, and he didn’t do it by coddling his competition.
Hazel Strous, a young, ambitious college student works in one of his warehouses and sees the constant struggles of her co-workers.
When she ambushes Paxton in an elevator to discuss working conditions it kicks off a feud for the ages. Any other employee who spoke to him this way would be sent to their car with a box full of their belongings.
There’s just one problem.
Every time he looks at Hazel it ignites a flame inside him. And he wants to pour fuel on the fire.
Sloane Howell lives in the Midwest United States and writes hot romance stories. A former college baseball player turned author, when not reading or writing he enjoys hanging out with his family, watching sports, playing with the dogs, traveling, and engaging his readers on social media. You can almost always catch him goofing off on Facebook or Twitter and trying to convince Mrs. Howell that it is "work"
I've been following on Sloane Howell's work for quite some time now and even though I am still waiting for him to continue The Matriarch trilogy which book 1 I freaking loved to the core...until then, well hopefully one day, he will finish the trilogy *fingers crossed* I have been indulging in his co-writing with Alex Wolf. Their books are funny, swoony and easy to fall into...but I always felt like I need just a little bit "more" to round it up to full 5 star rating...
And I finally hit the jackpot, LOL...
So Rich and Bossy really doesn't sound like anything that will make your heart palpitate strongly in angst...BUT you would be wrong, this was not only so elaborately played out in plotting, but the banter, the feels, the main characters' interactions were believable (despite of their age-gap), they were portrayed as humanly relatable as it can be in fiction...(cause it all ends well in fiction duh?! LOL and with the great gesture the MC makes, as he always does in these books, it was done with sense and tact, so you can really imagine it happening to someone, somewhere...) BUT yeah, I was rooting for them, I was really immersed and involved and it hit home...
And for me, Rich and Bossy is this duo's best work, so far!
It's been a hot minute since this dynamic duo has graces us with a new release. I for one feel it was well worth the wait.
Sloane Howell & Alex Wolf introduced us to Paxton Briggs & Hazel Strous in Rich and Bossy. The title explains ALOT!
This couple is an absolute HOT mess of undeniable attitude, attraction & SPICY HOT Chemistry. Both on a mission and both so stubborn it it isn't funny.
Hazel fighting for what needs to changed in the company Paxton owns and Paxton fighting to keep his company from a devastating fallout. Both of them have been put between a rock and hard place and the friction between them because of this is about to turn a spark of difference into an unstoppable inferno (if they let it). Their passion for what their fighting for is inspiring. Their passion of each other is absolutely addictive.
I fell for Paxton harder than I've fallen for any of the previous Heroes in Sloane & Alex's books. Paxton Briggs has a rough, Cocky attitude but the man has a heart of pure Gold!
Sloane & Alex give us a story that you won't be able to put down until you've crawled into the world and see how everything comes together. I was addicted from the start and devoured it up.
Sloane & Alex are high in my top 5 Dynamic Duo Author Teams. Everything they create together is pure satisfaction.
Wow, talk about a book that will get you fired up! Rich and Bossy is the first book in the new series Rich Boys and follows Paxton Briggs and Hazel Strous.
Hazel is tenacious, fierce, feisty, and driven. She's in college studying human resources and labor management so when her workplace isn't addressing the unsafe and unreasonable work conditions she decides something has to be done. When she sees Paxton Briggs the owner she confronts him in the elevator lets just say their first meeting was one for the record books. Talk about back and forth banter so thick you would have to cut through it with a knife. You can't help but get immersed in their storyline as they navigate their steamy but complicated relationship and workplace dilemmas.
Bonus we get Campbell Page from the Cocky Suits Chicago series intertwined in the story.
I received an ARC from the authors and I'm voluntarily leaving my review.
4 Star Review Rich & Bossy (Cocky Suits Chicago #8) by Sloane Howell and Alex Wolf
Rich & Bossy is the latest book from the collaboration between Sloane Howell and Alex Wolf. This is a well written, entertaining story by two authors who write well together. I have no idea where one author stopped and the other took over.
I enjoyed the development of Paxton Briggs and Hazel Strous’s relationship and the push and pull as it developed.
The chemistry between them was steamy and I was quickly invested in the story that Sloane Howell and Alex Wolf wove from the first to the last chapter.
Wow! What a fantastic book! I absolutely loved Hazel and Paxton story! The interactions and banter was very entertaining! From their first meeting they are butting heads. She wants to improve working conditions and fair treatment for all workers and Paxton doesn’t think anything’s wrong. Will Hazel change his mind or will continue to fight each other? I loved this story! The dynamic duo has done it again! Alex and Sloane have another hit on their hands! I can’t wait for what they give us next!
Paxton and Hazel’s story is wrapped around an office romance with a hint of being “forbidden”. The main focus is related to the business but there’s a blend of a blooming lust built in as well. The dual POV is great getting deep into the minds of both characters. Paxton’s best friend John intrigued me, I’m curious if we’ll be seeing his full story in the future. Overall an enjoyable read and I think that these two authors blend their work seamlessly together with their collaborative writing.
This fabulous duo has done it again. I was thrilled to get this book! The witty conversations are hilarious. Hazel and Paxton were amazing. She had the biggest gonads there were. Taking on corporate is never easy but her love and for her friends kept her motivated. Paxton knew the moment they met she was a game changer. I loved every second of this book and I hope everyone grabs it.

Omg A Story Where He Is Held To Actual Moral Ethics
Clap, clap, clap.
It always shocks me how many people love they "morally grey" characters to never want to be more than morally grey.
While I believe in Cooperatives, more than Corporations, the fact that he grew and finally made the choice that mattered.
A story that has growth, beyond demonstrating personal exceptionalism, makes me smile.
I love it when they recognise they have to walk away from the system.
Believe it or not, women DO go for physical appeal more than men, BUT they also prefer Kindness as the most attractive feature.
Also remember, I know its rough, Neurotypical, heteronormative white ladies, letting go of the Psychophysiological trauma the Patriarchy and Social Castes impose on you, so you tell yourself you want his "alphaholeness".
Nah.
Even in that metric, Socialist women have better sex.
Period.
End of.
By virtue of being acknowledged as the most socially aware of the sexes, male/female is arrogance/ignorance, thats the intent, so he can imitate ignorance that YOU think he has, because you are projecting your ignorance onto him.
Ignorance is when you have no access to the info and still demand a judgement call on it. Arrogance is when you have access to the info, wilfully ignore it in the face of all declining birthrates, and still insist the way you've been doing it, is the corrext way.
The rich don't like that their arrogance is a choice.
They choose not to reflect.
Maybe because they are used to exercising that choice.
But the dominant choose not to reflect until they have to.
Leaving the submissives to continue to do most work AND the work to get them involved.
And no.
Leftists have better sex.
We are waiting for you.
EDIT: Read some reviews and holy shit.
Some people just want the angst.
Genuinely, to those who don't like this book, I'm sorry your parents were little more than wet nurses.
I'm sorry they were addicted to Keeping Up With The Jones, or their career or their hobbies and addictions, that they could do the regular presence that true emotional growth takes.
Like shit, tell me you are looking for quick validation with a different shade of lipstick, without telling me.
This is what happens when you aren't allowed to expect more of your loved ones, when you just expect them to leave.
So you contrast and equate their choices when he messed with peoples livelihoods to save his own ego.
It's great to have Sloane Howell and Alex Wolf back. This talented author combination kept me highly entertained and amused with their Cocky Suits and Cocky Suits Chicago series, and they've done it again with RICH AND BOSSY, book #1 in their latest series, Rich Boys. This is an age-gap, workplace romance with wonderful humour, incredible banter, and delicious steam.
Former NFL player Paxton Briggs has worked hard to ensure his online shipping company is the best and the largest. He relishes his success, but somewhere along the way he's lost focus on those who work for him and the conditions they must adhere to. Hazel Strous is a college student who works in one of Patrick's factories, she's seen and experienced the working conditions and confronts Patrick about them in an elevator, taking him off guard. Describing Hazel as feisty isn't quite adequate, she is a bulldog, stubborn, determined, and very driven. Poor Patrick doesn't realise what's about to hit him! I loved these two, they're locked in a bitter battle where only one side can win, yet they are unable to keep their personal feelings secret, and in this battle business and pleasure shouldn't mix.
RICH AND BOSSY is a fun, quick, and easy read which I found hard to put down. Paxton and Hazel were terrific characters who were as stubborn and as strong as each other. The chemistry and heat between them sizzled from the moment they met and only grew fiercer through their story. I loved every moment in this book, Alex and Sloane have delivered an addictive story. I loved that they included Campbell Page from Pretty Playboy, that was such a treat. Once again, these two authors have added another winner to their already long list.
Rich and Bossy (Rich Boys series, Book 1) by Sloane Howell & Alex Wolf
It’s been a minute since I picked up a book written by these two authors and while reading Rich and Bossy I had to wonder why? I mean they bring the alpa’s straight to our ereaders so how did I lose my way?
Rich and Bossy! Paxton Briggs! He had been a huge contender for a quaterback position in the NFL, but a last minute hit changed his life. Some would say for the better, Pax thought it was, he and his college buddy John wanted to help people. So they started Rapid! (compare it to a huge company that has lots to things and delivers quickly) In the beginning they were achieving their goal. Things just kept getting better in the money making way, things kept getting worse for their workers though.
IPO’s can be dangerous….so when one of the workers in their Minnie wareshouse caught Pax unaware and unprepared in an elevator, he came off as the real alpha h**e….I mean what kind of damage could a litte five foot woman named Hazel Strous do? Right….but there was one thing she did do…she stayed in his head and on his mind! All the time! Every day! Again what damage could she do…the man had no idea!
Unions! Persosnally I love them. Without unions a lot of things wouldn’t be in place now. Then there are things like a Boards of Directors, shareholders, etc. Nope those things and unions just don’t make for getting along at times.
As Paxton’s obsession with Hazel grows and Hazel’s need to protect her friends and coworkers at Rapid there is a good chance that something will explode, or something like that!
The chemistry between Pax and Hazel grows with each encounter. Can business and personal life co-exhist or will they end before this relationship getsa real start.
Author’s Sloane Howell and Alex Wolf give readers a quick lesson about big business, IPO’s, unions and how a relationship can survive all of those things. I laughted, I stood with the members of Rapid and I saw a man who thought he had everything and brought to his knees by a the woman he met in an elevator.
One smart, compassionate, head strong woman vs. THE Man, THE System and the one infuriating face of it all. She just wants some humanity brought back to the workplace. He's the person with the power to do this, except he refuses to 'stir the pot.' Thus the war between good and evil begins. As the battle plans move forward, the magnetic pool between the two grow stronger. Now, they must each choose between these new fangled feelings they have and the greater good of the battle they are fighting. One stands to lose everything he's work for and built for himself and the other could lose not only her work family and their respect, but also the long term benefits that would come from winning. Both characters have their pros and cons. Both have good hearts, and want to make things right. One is more freely to progress while the other has their hands tied. Both tend to keep secrets from the other and both tend to think the worst of the other (in certain situations.) The book is easy to read. There is a lot of talk of labor unions and the inner workings that come with that, both from the companies perspective as well as the union's. That was probably the thing I cared for the least in the book. It was it's own side plot to the romance, but it did play a pivotal role in the couples relationship. There is a lot of steam throughout the book (intended for mature readers.) There are a few laughs, but I wouldn't call this a rom-com. It's not an emotional read, except for the anger that radiates between the characters. The anger and the lust. ;) It alternates POVs. It does have a tie in with the Cocky Suits series by the authors, though just in conversation.
A fabulous opening scene kicks off a rollicking story with snark-filled banter and chemistry that will set your screen on fire! Hazel confronts her company's CEO in an elevator, determined to convince him to make improvements to the working conditions. This goes as well as can be expected with an arrogant CEO who hides his softer side far beneath his player persona.
What follows is a cross between Norma Rae and the Hating Game, with all the passion one could hope for both in and out of the boardroom. This author's writing style never fails to captivate me, and I absolutely devoured this book, enjoying every interaction between the plucky Hazel and the jaded Paxton.
Paxton is just enough of a dirty-talking dom to make their intimate scenes almost too hot to handle, and I adored the way Hazel stood up to him when it counts, dragging him into his best self and proving that they both can get everything they want out of this situation.
Mine is a very short list of male romance authors who I am willing to read, and Sloane Howell remains at the very top. He's got a fantastic way with words, creates amazingly complex characters, and clearly has fun doing it. I highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys contemporary romances. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I'm a huge fan of this duo's Cocky Suits Chicago series and I'm really excited about this new one, but unfortunately book one was more of a miss for me than a hit.
Paxton was a college football legend. When his career ended way too early due to a knee injury, he decided to start a company with his best friend that's grown to be one of the largest in the world. He's the CEO but with Rapid being as huge as it is, he obviously can't be hands-on with every task and warehouse anymore. It's becoming a problem when he's cornered in the elevator on his way to a meeting by one of his warehouse workers about the horrible conditions. From the beginning, he's more interested in Hazel than what she has to say. He's trying his best to prove to her that he's a good guy but even though he's the CEO, he still has shareholders and board members to please. It's not until she's planning to form a union that she's taken seriously but by then they are already kind of in a relationship that just makes it all so much more complicated.
I'm not saying I didn't like it but the characters really got on my nerves, they were petty and immature so often, both of them. And the story was way too focused on the business side of things, I found myself a little bored every now and then.
Sloane Howell and Alex Wolf have once again delivered us a steamy romance. A youthful but feisty heroine and a confident and commanding Hero that melts our hearts.
Paxton Briggs is at the height of his business career. He owns the largest online shipping company in the world. He’s worked hard and enjoys his success. But an intense elevator encounter with an enthusiastic employee regarding his company lacking insight into its day to day operations has him taking notice, in more ways than one. Hazel Strous may be young, but she’s smart, driven, and unfortunately for Paxton, intoxicating to his senses. What started as a bitter battle, quickly escalated into an inferno of attraction and want. They had a physical and emotional connection. But business and personal do not mix. Their relationship takes the brunt of another bitter battle having them face off against each other. She’s determined to help her friends, he’s obligated to his company. But love keeps finding a way to bring them together, again and again. Cloaked in their armor, who will win the war?
Absolutely love this writing duo. Happy for this Release!
Rich and Bossy was a very entertaining story. Paxton is the owner of the company Hazel works for. Hazel is a spitfire and when rules are being unreasonably put upon the employees at the cost of their safety and wellbeing, she doesn't hesitate to confront Paxton. Hazel is a firecracker in every sense of the word and Paxton has never met someone like her. He is attracted to everything about her, especially her fire and passion to make things right.
Unfortunately, since Paxton and his partner made their company public, his hands are tied by the board of directors and investors who only care about their profits and the bottom line. When Hazel pursues forming a union, everything hits the fan. While Paxton is supportive of her intentions, he's between a rock and a hard spot being the CEO of his company and having to answer to the board and the investors.
Are Paxton and Hazel's mutual attraction strong enough to wade through the battle between the company and the employees, or are they destined to be on separate sides forever.
This story has two strong main characters with just the right amount of sizzle. I truly enjoyed this story and highly recommend it.
I must start out with the fact that I do love when these two authors collaborate to give us a book! Rich and Bossy is an office romance, enemies to lovers, different worlds collide story. Paxton Briggs owns and runs the largest shipping company in the world. He didn't get there by backing down from a fight even if it comes from within!! Hazel Strous an intelligent young college woman that just so happens to be working in one of the warehouses that Paxton owns, and she has more than a bone to pick with him She has a list of ideas to make the workplace safer, more efficient, and so many ideas to build moral. These two worlds are about to collide as the sassy smart Hazel ambushes him in the elevator. When she feels that she does not get justice, she takes it to the next level and begins to unite her co-workers to form a union. The battle cry is loud and these two are about to go to war, but there is a very fine line between love and hate and these two are about to dance on it! I loved the banter, the smart funny dialogue, the underlying sizzle and this couple had quite an interesting story to tell! ~~Michele McMullen~~
i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of Pax and Hazel. Pax owns the world's largest online shopping site and Hazel works in one of his warehouses, Hazel is also going to college for business management and when she notices a lot of things wrong at the warehouse, she confronts Pax one day. He was unaware of most of the things and wonders if things really are as bad as Hazel says they are. When thins don't improve, she starts talk of forming a union and the investors warn Pax to shut that down before it gets too far out of hand. Meanwhile Pax is very attracted to Hazel and tries to find a reason to see her. Hazel likes Pax and thinks he might listen to her about the conditions. They are both attracted to each other, but know they can't let anyone find out about their romance because of the talk of forming a union. I really liked this book, Pax and Hazel had a lot against them and had to really fight for their relationship, as well as with each other. There was so much against them being together. I liked Pax, he tries to do the right thing, but a lot of things he couldn't control. This was a very good story. Well done.
Nobody writes a cocky ahole like these two! I thoroughly enjoyed Rich and Bossy! Paxton was on top of the world, the company he started from the ground up was making money hand over fist, and he was a millionaire, living like a king in his castle. That was until he was cornered in an elevator by a little spitfire of a woman who was bound and determined to be heard. Let the battle comence! Oh, I loved the fireworks between Hazel and Paxton! The tension between them was so thick it was combustible. And combust it did! Rich and Bossy was a chefs kiss enemies to lovers, workplace, age gap, romance. It had it all. Even though it was within the enemies to lovers trope there was a little instalove going on to. Pax fell for Hazel from the very start. I would recommend this book if you're looking for a spicy story, with a lot of humor and a lot of heart. At certain points, you'll want to throw your Kindle and slap Pax upside the head, but hey, that's normal for men we all love. They're just big idiots and we wouldn't have them any other way.
Paxton, along with his best friend John, own a shipping business. When he meets Hazel--an employee in one of his warehouses--in an elevator on his way to a meeting, she takes advantage of her captive audience by giving him a list of some of the issues management is inflicting upon her and her coworkers. Taken aback by her boldness, Paxton tells her he'll check on her complaints and get back with her. Hazel doesn't believe him, but she's left an impression on her billionaire boss. Paxton is definitely attracted to Hazel, and while he wants to ask her out, he understands the implications that could create if word got out.
Hazel is determined to help her fellow workers, and won't let her attraction to Paxton deter her. Until things blow up so much bigger than either of them anticipated. I loved Paxton and Hazel's story. How they seemingly come from different worlds, they actually have a lot in common, even with their age difference. The storyline was interesting, and there are plenty twists on the way to an eventual HEA. Sloane and Alex have written another great story.
Well Sloane and Alex you have done it again. An amazing book.
The chemistry between Paxton and Hazel was off the charts, and it started in the first chapter. They worked well together and complemented each other.Their passion for not only each other but their work life was 3 chili peppers hot.
Paxton liked to get under Hazels skin with refering to her as a child because of their age gap. BUT she held her own and pushed right back as good as he gave it to her. ;-) The banter, heat, understanding, will power, and drive these two have is amazing. Even though Paxton was the CEO of the company that Hazel was working for did not stop her from having the drive to call him on his stuff. He was just as driven to prove she was too young to know what she was talking about. BUT she was determined to make the working environment she and fellow employees worked was fair and safe. And just happened to find each other along the way.
I loved this story! Insta-love meets a bit of Romeo and Juliet. Paxton and Hazel are the most unlikely duo to end up together since they are on opposite sides of a work place drama, risking both of their livelihoods in the process. Seeing them come up against the real world problems, and find ways to work through them while also understanding each other’s perspectives was really enjoyable.
I know it’s SUPER greedy, but if I had one critique it’s that I would have loved to have seen a bit more in the epilogue or another chapter about the workplace changes that were implemented in the end, and a bit of closure for the affected coworkers (trying to explain that without giving away the plot was hard! Haha).
Overall the book was really well written, the story dragged me in quickly and kept me flipping pages, and I can’t wait to see what will come next in this series!
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, pain, betrayal, and heartbreak.
This is Hazel and Paxton’s story. He owns the business she is working at. But she is not happy with him. She has gone to the high ups in the company about safety and other issues and they have ignored the issues. Now she has a chance to speak to the boss and he is blowing them off. The chemistry between these two is off the charts. But she wants the people at the company to be safe and able to keep their jobs. While Paxton and Hazel start to fall for each other they both know they are on different sides of the issues with the company. He has rules he has to follow and she has things she needs to do for the people. That does not mean they are not falling in love with each other but when his board steps in to undermine Hazel will he lose her or will he have to fix things on his own?
This is Hazel, "She's haunting me. My every thought, always hovering in the back of my mind." Hazel is a young employee in one of Paxton's fulfillment and shipping centres. (I really liked the comparison here, made me chuckle inside.) Paxton's coworkers are her family and when they suffer, Hazel suffers. That's why she ambushes Paxton and demands better working conditions. Then things get nasty, kinda nice and then all hell breaks loose. Paxton about Hazel, "She could stir a morgue full of stiffs to action." Hazel, "It would be much easier if I could hate him. If he was nothing more than the villain I want him to be." "When he acts like he'd burn down the world for me?" A talented author team co-wrote this terrific story about big business and the demands to make more profits and the story of the underdog employees. The book left me with a warm, fuzzy feeling inside.
Howell and Wolf have another great story for readers to enjoy with characters to love and hate. When Paxton and college roommate John create their dream business, they did not foresee complications like losing control to investors. This turn of events prompts Hazel, a young college student and employee to fight back by organizing a union to take care of her coworkers. Paxton and Hazel find themselves in a head butting struggle when their feelings for each other become a love/hate relationship. This leads to problems on both sides for employer and employee but who can predict love getting in the way? These authors create wonderful characters for readers to quickly become invested in. The story is fast paced, well written, and relatable for their audience.
The first book in the new Rich Boys Series - had me from the first page.
Paxton Briggs is a former NFL player turned mogul CEO. From the moment he meets Hazel Strous the chemistry is off the charts on a personal level and she challenges him to his limit on a professional level. She works on the warehouse floor whilst studying to complete her degree and wants to fight for her and her colleagues rights to decent and fair working conditions whilst Paxton doesn’t see what the problem is - his company is exceeding expectations and profiting which makes the shareholders and the Board happy. What he doesn’t expect is the whirlwind that is Hazel to come at him full foce.
Can there be a personal relationship and if so will it be able to withstand what is happening in their professional lives.
Loved this and can’t wait for the next instalment in this series.
Collabs between Sloane Howell and Alex Wolf always grab me by the throat. This one is no exception. The question I post you is..is there such thing as too rich and too bossy?
Paxton may be the CEO of Rapid but he’s about to have quite a problem on his hands. And that problem comes in the form of a fierce little bombshell named Hazel.
Hazel has some major issues with the safety in the warehouse she works in and intends to make things right. So she corners the boss in the elevator and lets him have it. Paxton however thinks that he can charm his way out of Hazels threats. He’s gonna learn that she’s not a push over and he’s going to have to do something he never thought he would.
This book is well written, timing is perfect and the characters are uniquely crafted. I always enjoy these two authors working together.
3.5 Stars This book started off really cute and had me laughing out loud. The antics and the banter between Paxton and Hazel from the get-go was so cute and different from other books. I thought that the story had great potential. From there it fell flat for me until about 70% through. The story was not interesting enough to keep me wanting to read more. The chemistry from the main characters fell flat through some of the book. I expected something more from these two authors. When the story picked up toward the end, it was really good again and I enjoyed it. I had a hard time with Paxton and the fact that he was supposed to be a CEO, but he acted kind of immature at times, and he also didn't seem to be very dominating or bossy in the boardroom. I received an ARC from the authors. I provided my review voluntarily.
When Hazel pretty much ambushes Paxton Briggs the CEO of the company on the elevator, neither one could’ve imagined what the future would hold for them. All Hazel wants is a safe workplace that cares for their employees. Gives them time for Proper restroom breaks and FMLA A company the size of Rapid should be able to offer those things. When they don’t, Hazel looks into how to form a union. With the help of Campbell Page, she is able to get a lot done. Hazel and the CEO Paxton have a secret affair which is tested many times during the book. Will Paxton be able to keep Hazel from the wrath of the people out to crush this idea of a union? The book was very good and was interested from the very beginning.
I know im not alone at being so happy that the duo of Sloane Howell & Alex Wolf are writing together again.this time they have treated us to Richard and Bossy - book one in a new series Rich Boys Rich and bossy is the story of Paxton Briggs retired NFL player turned CEO of a mega company . He’s very happy with his life both work and personal that is until he mets college student Hazel Strouss , who just happens to be studying Human Resourses and labour management. A meet of chance gives Hazel the opportunity to enlighten Paxton of everything that is wrong in employee care. What follows is a battle of who will Ultimately come out on top! Filled with Great banter , quick one liners throughout & the right amount of spice
