The best book in the series. Oh Lyra!, the best main character after Camille. She's the only princess of Lalaandia, the youngest, and the most rebellious, or at least that's what everyone thinks. The truth is, she has no qualms about saying and doing what she thinks, whether it's putting someone in their place to assert her opinion or deciding to enter a reality show to find the love of her life. Or at least a love that isn't in a relationship with someone else, like Spencer.
After years of being close, Spencer Laz, the princes' best friend and advisor to the crown, feels that something isn't right. Even though he's resumed his relationship with his ex-girlfriend Abigail after years of no contact and feels at peace with his routine, it's not until he finds out that Lyra is part of the reality show, "The Suitorette," that he begins to understand that Lyra affects him in a way that's more significant than just being a best friend, and if he doesn't act quickly, he could lose her forever.

Every moment, every dialogue was exquisite. It kept me on the edge of my seat and with a smile on my face until the very end. The only part I didn't like was the last chapter, the epilogue? Where Abigail appears. I haven't liked her since the previous book, just like Hattie, but I'm going to give her a chance in the next book to change my mind.

I really enjoyed this book. The entire series is great. I don't know if it's because it's a fictional kingdom with such strong Viking ancestry, the similarities with different monarchies, or the characters being so different from each other, but I would love to see them come to life.

This is book 5 in the Love in Laandia series and should definitely be read in order.
Oh Spencer! He is such a good guy but totally clueless when it comes to women, which really surprised me. I guess that happens when you suppress your feelings and spend more time on work and family than girlfriends. He frustrated me quite a bit but I was still rooting for him. I knew he had it in him but he took quite a bit longer to snap out of his clueless state than I expected. Lyra also ignored her feelings, even though she is known for speaking her mind so she gets what she wants. I’m glad they finally got their heads on straight and figured it out; it was about time. I’ve really enjoyed watching each of the royal siblings fall in love and would love to read about some of the side characters we were introduced to.

I have so much love for this book! Book 5 in the series, I believe this book could be read as a stand alone but I think it'll be enjoyed significantly more having read the first 4. I've been excited for Lyra's story from the start of the series, and I love the growth we've seen in her character from the start through til now. Her relationship with her brothers is a source of joy, her self reliance and stubborn streak is hilarious, and the hijinks that abound from her being on the Suiterette show made me laugh throughout. This was a fun read, I'm so glad I got the chance to read an early version!

Such a cute wholesome story with bachelorette vibes for the fifth book in the Love in Laandia series. Royal Rebel features Lyra and Spencer childhood friends that have grown up together. This is a brother’s best friend, slow burn royal romance with low spice, kissing only. This was an enjoyable easy read and so perfect for all ages. I received a complementary copy from the author.

Once again, Holly Kerr doesn’t disappoint. This is book number 5 in the Love in Laandia series and we get to see Lyra who is of course a princess as she signs up for a “bachelorette” type of reality show. Spencer has been pining for her for years but he’s in charge of fixing all the disasters the princess causes. In this book you get the tropes

It took me quite some time to finish but not because I didn't like it but because life has been too stressful. Since I read previous books of this series I know there is a connection between Spencer and Lyra but they were never more than friends. Until Lyra becomes the new Suitorette.
Find out why she does it and will Spencer stand back and just watch or take his chance to find out what could be?
Loved their story and I'd definitely would read Abigails story and Kate's!

I am voluntarily leaving a review after receiving an ARC from Hidden Gems.
It was cute but predictable. We all knew from the previous book that Spencer would end up with Lyra. It was inevitable. Ms. Kerr did a wonderful job with trying to make their love story interesting and not quick. It is a little angsty and drawn out.

Royal Rebel by Holly Kerr is the fifth book in the Love in Laandia Series. While this is an interconnected series that features character crossovers (specifically the five Erickson children), Kerr has written each book as a standalone. Therfore, readers can pick and choose how they read the series.
I was first introduced to Lyra and Spencer in Royal Reluctance (book #4). While the pair grew up together as quasi family, it was clear there was something romantic brewing beneath the surface. Therefore, I was delighted to learn that they would be the main characters in this book.
I loved the relationship Kerr created for Lyra and Spencer. While most people couldn’t see past the “heiress” persona Lyra puts on, Spencer could. He recognized it for what it truly was, a defense mechanism. In the same way, Lyra challenged Spencer to let go of his people pleasing tendencies and fight for what he wanted. By pushing each other to be the best versions of themselves they were able to achieve their happily-ever-after!

They’ve gotten along since they were kids, but Spencer is seeing someone right now and he's unsure who he's meant to be with. Tired of waiting for him, Lyra decides to be the next Sutiorette on a reality T.V. show in hopes of finding someone to fall in love with. Can Spencer muster the courage to do something different than the past, or will he lose his chance with Lyra forever?
This book was great. You have Lyra, a strong, determined, guarded, kind, blunt, perceptive, and beautiful young woman that is used to being hunted by media reporters, fame-hungry men while trying to protect herself. You have Spencer, a reliable, thoughtful, reserved, and handsome young man that grew up with the royal family was fairly close to Lyra throughout their childhood. The interactions between Lyra and Spencer were full of tension, humor, kindness, and vulnerability amid the flashbacks and present day. While Lyra faced criticism for her actions especially in previous books, I understood where she was coming from in terms of the double standards that she faced as a princess compared to her brothers. The discussion of feminine rage, grief, and expectation to wait to be chosen was written with honesty and compassion. There were a lot of wonderful moments with the other suitors, and it was great seeing familiar characters as well. Overall, if you like great banter, bachelorette reality TV shows, found family dynamics, strong FMCs, and sweet brother’s best friend x princess romance with low amounts of spice, then I would highly recommend this book.

Royal Rebel is the fifth book in Kerr's Love In Laandia series. This book features Princess Lyra Bodil Selena Sif Erickson. She's the baby of the family. Her "five" big brothers adore her and do everything to protect her, especially when she is known for her frequently reckless behaviour.
One of those five brothers is not actually her brother, but Spencer, the king's best friend's son. He has known her her whole life and has played many different roles.
Spencer has been my escort, date, babysitter, warden. He was my confidant, my best friend when I need him, and my girlhood crush. And my teenage - and twentysomething - fantasy.
When her brother find out that Lyra secretly agreed to be the next Suitorette, a reality show where she tried to find love, they freak out, certain she is making a huge mistake. Spencer is forced to confront his long buried feelings for the princess. This might be his last chance to step up and tell her how he feels because she could meet something on the show and fall in love. So he does the only thing he can - he joins the cast of the Suitorette to fight for her.
This was a sweet love story. Those who have been reading this series from the beginning knew it was coming but anticipating it is different from actually enjoying the story the author has crafted. While Lyra was just as guilty of not sharing her feelings, from an entertainment perspective, I enjoyed how she made Spencer work for it.
It was a treat to have some cameos of the beloved past characters. I have definitely enjoyed this series. While the author notes there may be other stories to come, I'm keen to see what she has in store for her fans.

What a journey! The final royal sibling of Laandia gets her story and it’s a such a great “we’re friends but are we? And are we more than that?” roller coaster.
Spencer Laz has known Princess Lyra of Laandia since the day she was born. Although he’s always been considered the best friend of her 4 older brothers, Lyra and Spencer have a bond beyond friendship that is hard to explain. They laugh and joke with each other, but also fight. They’ve been paired up their entire lives, but they’re NOT like siblings, and they’ve never declared feelings for one another either.
Lyra has always been happy being the party princess, but something recently has been calling to her to find love once and for all. When it finally seems clear that Spencer is never going to choose her, Lyra makes the wild decision to become the next Suitorette. With each suitor chosen to fit the archetype of a romance novel - the bad boy, the athlete, the boy next door, etc. - there is just one archetype missing: the brothers’ best friend.
It was fun reading about the behind the scenes of the dating show and the conversations between the suitors. They all think they know how it’s going to end up, but there are so many little twists and turns I never knew quite when “the moment” was going to happen. It was that LIGHTBULB for both Spencer and Lyra as they realize the depth of their feelings. There are so many times where they think they have it figured out but it’s still not working and then suddenly, they just GET IT.

Oh my heart! This book was so good! I adore the Love in Laandia series and this is the book I have been waiting for. This is the story of Princess Lyra, the youngest sibling and only girl in the royal family of Laandia, and Spencer Laz, son of the King’s best friend, friend to all of the royal brothers, royal fixer, and the constant in Lyra’s life. Princess Lyra appeared in the other books in the series but she has made her life outside the kingdom so I did not feel like I knew her as well as I did the other characters and I was intrigued by her and wanted to get to know her. On the other hand Spence was in all of the other books and I felt I knew him. Together they are fun to watch, there is chemistry and connection and so much history and so many feelings that they have not allowed themselves to feel. Lyra is a character I like. She is strong, resilient, fun, determined to create a life of her own with the love of her life but she is unsure of how to make it happen. The premise, Lyra appearing on the Suitorette, was a nice twist and brought the series full circle with Odin being part of the Suitorette in Royal Rumble at the beginning of the series. One of my favorite parts of this book and the series is the characters from other books showing up, they are family and friends and I enjoy catching up with them. I love, love, love this book and this series and highly recommend it to readers that enjoy sweet romances with characters that feel like friends.

OMG! I absolutely loved Lyra and Spencer in this story. Grayson was such a bonus, his and Bexley's story was adorable, I loved reading it so much, he was so much fun to read about in this story. But most of all I was ecstatic to find out Holly Kerr is not ending Love in Laandia series yet because there is so much more to tell. I can't wait to read who Abigail ends up with (is it Ashton or Rand or Tanner) or does Ashton end up with his dream girl Sophie, and what about Sophies story, Mabel, Duncans real story or sweet Tanner. I would gladly read more about Kalle, Odin, Bo, Gunnar, Spencer and Lyra. This series is my favorite of all time so far and I can't wait to read what happens with Abigail next.
As for Spencer and Lyra's story, it was a whirlwind of emotion, sweet and cute moments as well as lots of banter, and flirting on the edge of desire, their slow burn drove me crazy I kept screaming at Spencer to just kiss her already. Lyra is known as the Party Princess who impulsively agrees to be the next Suitorette to move on from her childhood love.
Spencer is an amazing, wonderful, patient, intelligent, carrying, meticulous handsome hunk who is great at his job and an idiot. He must decide if he is on the right path or chase his heart’s desire before its too late. Lyra is beautiful, determined, strong-willed, fearless, impatient, stubborn and a wonderful negotiator, she has always been able to get all she wants except for what her heart desired most. To all Lyra and Spencer are meant to be together, it's obvious if only their insecurities didn't get in the way they may believe it too. This story starts with lyra running away to forget the one man out of her reach only to be faced to face with what she was running from, and spencer realizing what he may possibly loose. Both Spencer and Lyra experience self-growth, how to listen to your heart, what they truly want in life and how to fight for what your heart most desires. I loved their story so much, but my favorite parts were the catwalk and obstacle courses, Tanner and Tema and Spencer and Lyra’s first dinner. -Royal Rebel is the fifth in the Love in Laandia series. It is an enjoyable quick-paced brothers’ best friend, reality romance closed-door romcom. I enjoyed seeing crossover characters from this sentry mold do well within and the journey it takes along the way to a wonderful surprising ending. The banter throughout was delightful! The connection between dear main characters has always been in the background throughout this series, which have helped paved the way for their own love story. I loved seeing that hope isn’t lost on two characters, who have so much more in common and make each other better through past heartache. Watching them grow and take courage in making a bold move in expressing feelings of the heart shines bright in this cute story, which leads to an even better HEA, which was better than what I could have expected!📚🙌🏻✨

Princess Lyra has always come off as the spoiled, thoughtless, wild princess but only Spencer could read between the headlines to understand the motive of her actions. Spencer is the honorary 5th prince of Laandia, raised alongside the princes and princess and now works for them falling in line with his father. While the feelings have always existed for one another, neither has ever expressed them. When Prince Bo and Hettie reunite, Abigail returns, and the foursome picks up where they left off and falling into a comfortable relationship her is easy with Lyra living in Chicago.
Lyra is determined to finally get over Spencer now that he is dating Abigail. She agrees to go on a reality show where 25 men are after her heart. The group of guys chosen to fulfill novel inspired mmc's and were excellent side characters. While filming starts and the family reluctantly accepts her decision Spencer and Abigail part ways so he can throw his hat in as a possible suitor for Lyra.
My favorite parts of this story was Spencer having to come to terms with feelings for Lyra to her brothers. Such a sweet story I was really happy with the ending.

Choosing to lust after another ,oh brother did he make a mistake and now a game show of a farce he must make . Faint heart never won fair maiden and all that malarky . But this makes him a little snarky. He’s best friends with the four Princes , his father is right hand man to the King and he himself has been waiting in the wings to seek a future with Lyra but gets a tad confused and pursued another lover . So once she does but discover what he done . She signs up to be the next suitorette on a dating show. The pick of twenty five men . Every specimen on show ready to be her Prince Charming . It’ll all end in tears in a few years if these two don’t get wed. So what do you think he does to turn his fate around? Something profound and good ? Does he act like Robin Hood and seek out the fair lady to court. I suspected what he might do and it has its consequences and all action . The attraction is there , it’s clear as can be . This book was heavenly ,a scream . It’s supreme writing and inviting to boot ,a real hoot and so dang cute.

Laandia is a small kingdom near Nova Scotia, whose king was a former rock star. (This story can be read as a standalone, but it's helpful to have met characters in the other books in this series.) Princess Lyra is the adventurous youngest daughter of Laandia’s royal family. Spencer grew up with the royal children and is her brother's best friend. Although Lyra and Spencer always had a special connection, they never explored it. After Spencer begins a relationship with another woman, Lyra decides it's finally time for her to look for her own happily-ever-after. She signs up to be the Suitorette on a reality dating show, where 25 men will compete for her heart. Lyra’s decision is a wake-up call for Spencer, and he decides to join the show too. The reality show trope is fun and engaging. This story has insightful dual points of view as Spencer and Lyra figure out whether they can actually get to a HEA with each other. The book does end with a hook into another character’s future, so now I can’t wait for the next book of this sweetly romantic series. I was lucky to have received an early copy and am leaving this review voluntarily. (Review updated.)

This is the fifth book in the Love in Laandia series, and I think it might be my favorite! Falling in love with the brother's BFF is already my favorite trope, but add in a princess? Next level! What if the princess becomes the Suitorette in a desperate attempt to lash out at said brother's BFF, and he finds a way on the show to finally win her over? SOLD!!
This story was a pure escape, and I loved everything about it. I've been waiting through the rest of the series for Spencer and Lyra to get together, and Holly didn't make it easy for them! The dual POV (with an occasional drop in POV that helps for context) works so well here to let the reader know exactly what is going on. Lyra wants to make Spencer pay for ruining her show, but she also wants to run into his arms. Spencer is getting desperate now that he knows he only wants Lyra. The workup and the banter leading to a surprise ending is so good! I annotated everything!

I have loved reading all the books in this series and have been waiting for Spencer and Lyra's story.
When it looks like Spencer is moving on with someone else,Princess Lyra is heartbroken and decides to find love on a reality tv show and becomes the next suitorette.
when Spencer realises Lyra is the suitorette and there will be twenty five men trying to win her heart and he could lose her,he makes the decision to admit his feelings for her.
It is not easy and Lyra is angry at him,but he finally manages to win her over.Lyra admits her feelings as well and they both realise they were meant to be together.
Their happily ever after is very well deserved and the support from Lyra's brothers who are also Spencer's best friends is amazing.
Loved catching up with everyone and Grayson as the host was amazing.
I am looking forward to who will be next to find love.I hope it is Abigail next as cannot wait too long for her story.

The 'Love in Laandia' series is always a great way to spend an afternoon. This one also links to another series of Kerr's 'Suitor Science' which I intend to read next. You don't have to have read either series though, to understand Royal Rebel. It's light reading, not overly emotional and enjoyable.
I have to admit that it took me a while to warm up to Lyra. I think it's because I couldn't relate to her and I didn't like sentences she used, like her being on it like a fat kid with smarties. However, I did warm up to her and I too wanted Spencer to learn the lesson he needed to. By the end of the book, I saw her as a strong and resilient character. For this reason, I would definitely recommend the book and the previous ones in the series.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an early copy of Royal Rebel! This is the fifth book in the series, and while I haven’t read the first four, I appreciated that the story still made sense on its own. That said, I imagine it would hold more meaning if you were already invested in the characters from earlier books.
Overall, this was a lighthearted, no-spice royal romance that made for a quick and enjoyable read. I liked the royal setting of the fictional kingdom of Laandia - it added a fun, fairy-tale charm. The chemistry between the two leads was sweet, and it was clear from the beginning we were getting that HEA.
However, I did find myself wanting more in terms of character development. Their big revelations centered on realizing they were in love with each other, which felt obvious from the start. There wasn’t much of a character arc for either of them as individuals, so while I could root for their relationship, I didn’t feel as invested in them. That’s what ultimately brought my rating to 3.5 stars.
Still, if you’re looking for something light, romantic, and low-stakes with a royal twist, this one fits the bill!

Book 5 of the Love in Laandia series, a stand-alone with interconnected characters from Laandias royal family. This one is the story of Lyra, the youngest sibling and her HEA with her brothers best friend, Spencer. I love the ‘it’s always been you’ vibe and you could definitely sense it from the previous books. Spencer finally gets round to figuring out his feeling for Lyra, only a tad late to the game, and Lyra isn’t feeling so friendly towards him anymore, having missed out on all their chances through the years. A slow burn, closed door with swoony kisses when they eventually talk feelings. Hope there will be spin offs, there are so many characters aside from the royal family we could catch up with!

Royal Rebel is clean, brother's best friend, royal romance. I found this book delightful and not as angst filled as the previous books. Spencer was so clueless about his feelings that I wondered if he would ever get up to speed! Lyra found herself in the position of being the one to search for her match on the Suitorette reality show. She does meet some interesting men - but none of them measure up to Spencer as a love interest. These two have attended many functions together, have unexpressed feelings for the other, and the reader wonders if they will ever get together. In the end, Ms. Kerr brings things back on track and manages an HEA for Lyra and Spencer - even while setting up the next book. I love this series, this royal family, the country of Laandia and really enjoyed every minute of this well written book.

I feel like I’ve been waiting the entire series for this book, and it was nothing like I thought it would be. Lyra (and the author) made Spencer work for this chance, and they made him work so hard. But, I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised since he’d kind of been a clueless dork about his real feelings for Lyra pretty much for forever. It hurt my heart to watch him struggle, but I think it was actually good for him to have to prove his change of heart. I adored this pair. I adored getting cameos from so many of their friends and family. And now that it’s over (much faster than I wanted it to be) I can’t wait to see who the author puts in the hot seat next, because there are so many possibilities from their incredible supporting cast that I feel like I need to read more about.

A story of finding love on a reality dating show but have it include royals? Childhood friends-to-lovers who secretly pine for each other but won’t admit their true feelings? A slew of big, protective brothers/princes/friends? Charismatic, handsome men that make up the selection of suitors? I’ll take one of each please! This sweet, closed-door rom-com features Lyra—a princess, cast in a dating reality show and looking for romance, and her long-time friend and confident Spencer, who is cast as a suitor on the show to create drama as her brother’s best friend. The main characters journey to admit their true feelings has a fun, unique twist with the reality dating show plot line and made for quite the enjoyable, lighthearted read! 4.25 stars

Lyra is a princess in search of her happily ever after once Spencer (her brothers' best friend) decides to date Abigail, so she accepts an iinvitation to be cast as the newest member of The Suitorette. Spencer, after being told by Abigail to decide whether he has feelings for either Lyra or Abigail, decides to lay it all on the line after realizing that Lyra is more than a friend and that he has loved her all along.
Wihile I am not a fan of the current dating shows, I enjoyed the behind the scenes view of how the relationships and the episodes are staged. Overall, it is a lighthearted look at taking a risk and, for both of them, laying it all on the line for the other person...Well done!

Lyra and Spencer are friends who have romantic feelings for each other but he doesn’t acknowledge it until she goes on the reality show with twenty five men competing for her heart. There are some great guys and not so great guys and she goes on a lot of fun dates. Spencer was dating Abigail and that pushed Lyra to give up her dream of him and go on the show. Abigail does break things off with Spencer and push him to try a romantic relationship with Lyra but they were more than just friends dating. I felt for her. Spencer wants Lyra to choose him right away but that’s not how the show works and I don’t blame her for wanting to be sure before taking a risk on him especially so soon after he was dating someone else.
