Victor Braun once had it all—a man famous for producing well-scripted scenes of sex during the golden age of pornography. The shift in the adult entertainment industry left a bitter taste in his mouth, and the veteran producer leaned into his darkest desires. Hauled up in his decrepit mansion, he and his downtrodden slaves now make movies for society’s underbelly. When Victor’s plans to breathe new life into their stale existence are scuppered, he spirals further out of control. Blinded by rage, will Victor capture his finest moments on film—or will he become a member of the unfortunate cast?
Jonathan Wulff struggles to make ends meet—thrust into the position of sole carer for his bedridden mother, a woman whose selfish choices make life more difficult for the awkward teenager. Amid his daily strife, a chance online encounter presents him with an offer—a proposal Jonathan deems life-changing. But is the opportunity too good to be true?
Simon Ho is the lowest of the low—a self-serving criminal with a penchant for barbarity. The sudden discovery of a long lost family member sparks something inside him. Will this reconnection allow him to right his wrongs, or will he continue on the well-travelled path of serving his deviant needs?
As the lives and actions of these individuals intertwine in sordid detail, the perversion and brutality surrounding their transgressions soon extrapolate at a rapid rate… Firmly ensnared in the cogs of sexual violence—who will survive?
This book contains disturbing content. Reader discretion is advised.
I have known R.J. for several years now, and when he asked me to be Beta Reader for his new “full length” novel Run Red: Ordination, I jumped at the chance. Having been Beta for his first novella, Run Red, I knew I was in for a nasty little treat.
Hung out to dry, movie producer, Victor Braun, was once a big deal in the pornographic movie industry. But as the passing years have shown, competition is huge, and more recently, he has moved into making movies which lean more towards his darker desires, providing twisted and brutal movies for the seedy underbelly.
This book is sick, deranged, and very brutal, with lots of nefarious characters, all wanting to be ‘top dog’, and will do the worst things imaginable, to control the industry…but can awkward and downtrodden teen, Jonathan, conquer all, for love.
Thanks as always to R.J for sharing his journey with me.
“She’d been in the company of more dogs and donkeys over the past number of years than men. But bestiality was only the start.”
Well damn, I had a slight idea of what I was getting myself into, but I was NOT as prepared as I thought. 😅
Daly absolutely crushed this second installment in Red Run and he couldn’t have done it more perfect if he tried.
This story is fucked up, like REALLY fucked up. It hits a lot of triggers and a lot of hard topics. That being said, due to Daly’s writing style, it makes a really freaking good read.
The characters and their development and how they all tie into one another is incredible. The tone and details, again, incredible. The depravity and unhinged-ness of the whole thing?! Fucking incredible.
This was another review I thought I could into and be chaotic about, but this story is too damn good and easily made the top of my favorite reads of the year to be pulling one of those types of reviews out of me.
I didn’t think the second book could be more brutal than the first, but ohhh it very much is. 💀 I can typically rip through a 200+ page book in a day but not this one, I actually had to take a few breaks and that should say a lot if you know me and the stuff I typically read/review. That being said, it’s a compliment to Daly to be able to pull that off and evoke those types of emotions in me. I know damn well that if it made me certain ways, it’s gonna be an insane read for a lot of people.
I cannot wait to see the hype and love this book deserves once it’s in the hands of all the readers!!
4.5 🩸⭐️ When RJ Daly, offered me an arc this of book, I was jumping for joy . I couldn’t get my hands on a copy of this fast enough. It definitely held up to my expectations and may have exceeded a few. This is a story of three different men one more vile than the next . Victor makes all his money by producing snuff films. When discovering his films are not modern enough, he dives into his darkest fantasies.
Simon wants what he believes is his back. He will stop at nothing to get it .
Jonathan a teenage boy who is the sole caregiver of his mother, takes a leap for love .
Daly, managed to weave all three of these characters into a world where their story comes together to form one. I highly recommend this to only those who like the darkest books .
The brutality level of this book is through the roof. You might want to stay away, if you have any triggers. I love a good prequel. Reading about the creation of "The Priest" was everything I hoped for. Fantastic writing.
Wow the second book is even more BRUTAL than the first. 👀🫣
Run Red Ordination follows three different men, Victor, Jonathan and Simon. Victor is a former p0rn producer who is currently running an illegal sex trade of his own exclusive to the underground. Jonathan is trapped with his morbidly obese mother who makes money off sexual acts/favors to support her food addiction and he’s the one in charge of the bills. He’s struggling to keep everything afloat and when he’s offered a significant and life changing prospect he can’t turn it down. Simon is a true real life scum bag. Eventually all three of these characters stories come together and everything takes a wild turn!
This story was rough and I had to take a few breaks. So much violence. So much depravity. It’s also quite sad too. I went through it with this sequel and Daly definitely kept me on my toes from the very beginning. A job well done sir! 👏🎬
Run Red Ordination will be released on September 29th, 2024. Thank you, R.J., for this ARC!
Victor was in the porn business but his desires for film making went deeper than that. Taking young girls to help him out with his business was his thing and he had a very special girl.
Simon and the Chan brothers were a strong trio. They abuse women, young women and are in the snuff business. One day while browsing the internet, he stumbled upon a couple of pictures that brought back so many good memories for him
Jonathan was the man of the house, not by choice. His mother was obese, slept with multiple men, and used all her earnings to feed her fast food diet. The bills were piling up and he needed cash fast. When his bestfriend tells him of a photography job, of the darker kind, Jonathan has no choice but to say yes.
All these stories have 1 thing in common.....Lilly, and what a ride this is.
Jammed packed with violence, depravity, and some great characters...I truly enjoyed this sequel! The men are scumbags and you really feel for the young girls. Ingrid broke my heart! The ending will blow your mind and leave you wanting more! This was an excellent read. For some reason the Chan brothers made me laugh at times when they were pretty awful lol I highly suggest this bloody read!
HOLY MOTHERFUCKING SHIT, WAS THIS ONE B-R-U-T-A-L. R.J. Daly third release did not disappoint this one was gnarly. When you think depravity can't be topped, R.J. comes in with this one and tops the depravity levels to a new high! I'm telling you guys, this is a must. It's not your average 247 page book. This one is SICK! 5/5 R.J. DELIVERS, and don't forget about Sidney Shiv who made this sick ass cover! If I could give this a 10/5 I would. 5/5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ SIIIICKKKKKKK
Man, Daly went hard with this one. It is brutal, like really brutal. And that is the kind of stuff I like. If you are also twisted in the head, I have a feeling you will also enjoy. You can thank me later.
Daly’s most gruesome and compelling work yet! I am a huge fan of the original Run Red but as a reader, found myself craving more from this universe including character backstories. I am happy to report that I received it, ten fold! Expect a depraved and gory story with an exploration of the dark web trope funneling specifically into snuff films. This tale also features an exciting range of characters that all play an integral part in this novel. Everything was written to be intertwined into a deeper meaning. Highly recommend!
"Ingrid pushed down on the button with a doughy thumb, delivering a healthy dose of incapacitating voltage. The agricultural implement of torture looked like a twig in her large mitt. She pushed the prod deep into the soft groove of his neck alongside his trachea, sending lightning bolts through his body and igniting an explosion of fresh pain in his head."
Run Red Ordination revolves around 3 main characters. We have Victor - a washed-up porn producer turned vicious underground dark web creator, hell bent on delving deeper into depravity, and needing a new, younger play thing to do so. Jonathan - a teenage sole caretaker for his morbidly obese bedridden mother, struggling to make ends meet due to her food addiction.. he takes up an offer from an anonymous online encounter, leading him down a dark path.. Finally, we have Simon - a cruel, self-absorbed piece of shit who, along with his barbaric minions, will stop at nothing to find something he's been searching for for over a decade.
The lives and actions of these 3 men come crashing together, with dire consequences..
When I saw that a prequel to one of my favourite splatter books was being released, I was SHOOK.
I absolutely devoured this. I love Daly's writing - it's so descriptive and immersive, and I really enjoy his wording of the most hardcore parts of his work.
The story was insane. The way the characters came together in the end was so fun and absolute carnage. I loathed but also loved some of his vile characters, finding them humorous, particularly during a moment with Jonathan's mother 👀😂
This one is much more brutal and depraved than it's predecessor, it's hard to read at times - it's incredibly violent, visceral and will leave you feeling like all the air has left your lungs during certain parts, but is it fun to read if it doesn't leave you feeling that way?
Overall, I thought it was incredible. Beautifully written, and I thoroughly enjoyed the savagery 🤘
Thank-you so much to @r.j.d.horror for trusting me with an ARC of your baby 😊 it's available to pre-order now and comes out September 29th.
Another 5* read from this extremely unhinged author! We are chucked in at the deep end with this as several characters all intertwine. There are separate chapters (and even within the chapters) for different characters so we get views from each and every character. I really enjoyed being so in touch with each of the characters. I felt bad for some characters, wished death upon others and hoped others would survive! I was so into this. RJ is a master at the craft of storytelling. Not one of his stories has ever let me down. The story flowed perfectly. It was well thought out and definitely left me wanting more from these characters! Not to spoil who survives and who doesn’t! This was way more brutal than the first! There was so much depravity packed into this and it made me pull various faces throughout which was brilliant! Released 29th September this isn’t one you want to miss!
This is another fantastic addition to this authors work. I really dig the style of writing, and the story was great. I was happy to see some characters go and saddened by the death of others. Ingrid was my favourite character, and I hope to somehow see her again in the future (or past)
This was a very dark and disturbing read for sure. But all the brutal parts were necessary for the fantastic pay off in the end of the book. My favourite scene was Ingrids last chapter. That was the kind of heart-wrenching, off-putting and unexpected writing I love the most. Well done!
I was fortunate enough to read this on KU prior to it being removed, and I don’t think I’ll ever remove it. 😂 This book is just wtf from start to finish it’s cruel, sad, harrowing and grotesque. Just all around f***ed. In the beginning I was like “oh, it’s going to be like a torture house.” and while I was kinda right I was also not prepared for this book. RJ really makes you feel for the characters, whether you hated them or felt sad for them. Ingrid deserved better 😭
Run Red Ordination is a prequel to Run Red by one of my most favourite splatterpunk authors, R.J. Daly. This is gut-wrenching and heartbreaking, providing a peek into how The Priest came to be. Evil always has a root, and this is his.
