As Gypsy and her friends try to decide who to trust, whether they can save Flicker’s life, and deal with Reaper’s betrayal, a deadly computer virus starts quietly melting the brains of people in Russia.

Dane Lee and the CIA want the Cavies to help find out who’s behind it, what they want, and how to stop it, and when the people Gypsy touches on the Charleston streets die in front of their computers by the dozen, they know the attack will hit closer to home.

The time has come to put their powers to use for good, but, what is good? *Who* is good?

With those unanswered questions heavy on their minds, the Cavies fly to Saint Petersburg, Russia to do their part.

What they find there is a complication they never expected, in the form of people they never guessed existed…even though one of them is a trusted friend.

Gypsy and the Cavies will have to make the right alliances in the thick of a lethal showdown, and making wrong choice could do more than expose them. It could kill them.

(Source: I received a digital copy of this book for free on a read-to-review basis. Thanks to author Trisha Leigh!)

This was such a good sequel, and definitely lived up to high standards of book 1!

I loved Gypsy in this book, even though her world was turned upside down, she lost people she cared about, was still thought of as ‘inconsequential’, and was once again incarcerated, she still managed to keep things under control, and to look out for those that she loved, no matter the cost. I loved her friends too, and Mole is really growing on me!

The storyline in this book was good, and the tension built up slowly throughout the book. I loved the little twists we got thrown, and I really didn’t see them coming! This book really did surprise me, and in a good way!

There was some romance, and I did sense a little bit of a love triangle blooming, but in a ‘my friend fancies me, but I’m not sure’ sort of way. It seemed clear that Gypsy was still only thinking of Jude, even after some really sweet moments with Mole. #Clueless?

The ending to this was so good! We got action, we got danger, we got excitement, and kidnapping, and even a major twist in the story! Woo! Go Gypsy! I can’t wait to find out what happens next!
Overall; if you’re not reading this series you should be!

*Book Received in Exchange for Honest Opinion/Review*

Okay...I am just going to come out and say it...this book p*ssed me off. There, I said it, now let me explain my frustration. I can't do love triangles, I just can't especially when I absolutely adore Mole/Shiloh and I absolutely want to stab Jude. Jude is a traitorous sneaky bastard and Gypsy is still being stupid and swooning over him. It frustrated me to no end. I don't trust Jude, I don't like Jude, there is nothing good about Jude in any way, shape, or form.

So basically my anger stems from not being able to get the truth from anyone because the majority of these characters are liars! Then instead of getting answers that seemed from book 1, I was just left with more questions, more plot twists, and more confusion. So after reading my mini-rant, do you think I will read book 3? The answer is h*ck yes, because I am hoping beyond hope that all my questions will be answered. Wish me luck!

First if you haven't read Gypsy, the first book in the Cavy series, STOP now! Really stop, and read that one first, so A) I don't mistakenly spoil anything for you, although I don't think I will, but B) It is a great book too and you might not understand what I am talking about if you haven't read the first book.

Ok, now that we have that taken care of, Alliance, the second book in the Cavy series, picks up right where Gypsy left off and is even more action packed and exciting than the first book, if that is even possible. All your favorite, and not so favorite characters are back with Gypsy of course at the center of it all.

The Cavy are with the Olders, but are not so sure that is the best choice for them, along with the drug, GRH-18 they are being given. Even though the drug seems to help them control their gifts, why won't the Olders tell what it is and why won't they tell them they really have Flicker in a coma upstairs, instead of planting a impostor (spy) with them? It seems everyone wants to use them and they don't know who to trust except themselves. So when they find one Older who really will help them with Flicker, they run, with only slight trepidation for their friend Flicker. Only to find themselves back with the CIA and Dane Lee, trying to help save the world from a mind scrambling computer virus. But when a new twist is thrown into the mix and things get intense we will see who comes out on top.

These characters mesh together so well, it seems they have been together forever, which I suppose in some respects they have. They still act like teens in most respects even though they have these special capabilities and always need to be one step ahead of everyone else. The whole story is put together in a way you just are sucked in and can't get out of it is just to exciting.

For a sequel this book does not disappoint, if anything it is better than the first and only promises a better third book. You will be on the edge of your seat the whole time and clamoring for more! You just can't put this book down so prepare for some, please do not disturb reading in progress, time.

Holy cow, what an AWESOME continuation!

Trisha Leigh NAILED it with Alliance, book two in the Cavy Files. I'm still reeling from the book's climax, and I'm already anxious to find out what happens next as Gypsy and the other Cavies attempt to regroup and formulate a plan. Each new person, each new destination, brings yet more uncertainty for them as they struggle to ascertain who they can trust and where they can be safe. Unfortunately, every change brings more questions, and they seem to be faced with more enemies than allies. No matter who tries to recruit them, reality is everyone wants more than they are willing to give.

Norah's struggle with her self-worth is heart-wrenching as she works to see her value within the group. As much as she longs for the life of a "normal" teenage girl, she knows her Cavy family truly needs her regardless of her feelings of being helpless and useless. Her abilities, along with the other Cavies', are enhancing as the GRH-18 expands and stretches their abilities.

The frustration they endure through the entire story is summed up by this quote: "The bottom line is that we’re staring at a bunch of crappy choices." No matter which direction they turn, someone or something must be sacrificed. Who or what will it be as they race to find answers about the deadly computer virus that could wipe out millions?

Trisha Leigh has a gift for creating characters you want to know. Whether it's this story, or another, you'll turn the last page feeling invested in the characters and their struggles. The seamless way she transitions from book one to this one keeps the story flowing and brings the first flooding back as though you finished reading yesterday. Keep writing, Trisha!

~~I received this book in exchange for my honest opinion~~

This the second book in the Cavy files. It picks up right where the first book left off. Gypsy and her friends have a decision to make, either stay where they are with Older, or try their luck with the CIA. Something big is going on. The CIA needs their help, but they don’t know if they can trust them. They only can trust each other, or can they?
I love this series. It is a fun book to read. There is so much mystery that is in this book that you really are surprised at the things that come about. The people that you think you can trust, you can’t and the ones you thought you couldn't trust turn out to be something different. Trisha captures the details of the south perfectly in this book. You feel as though you are in Charleston. Pick up this book today!!

I have high expectations for Trisha based on her past books and this one did not disappoint. I absolutely love the X-MEN type feel this book has - it is different, fun, and interesting!

Alliance picked up where Gypsy left off with the action starting right away. The Cavies were constantly faced with choosing the lesser of two evils, always having to rely on the group that was the least dangerous to them at that point in time. During that time, their control over their mutations continued to improve. When the syphons arrived, I was completely unprepared for what they'd bring to the table!

The beauty about Trisha Leigh is that she constantly surprises me with twists, turns, and major cliffhangers! She paints beautiful pictures with her words. You need to read this series and all of Trisha's books if you haven't already!

With Alliance we continue on Gypsy's journey into the real world where she and her Cavy family search for answers. Only now they're not alone. They've been taken to a secret safe house where they join the Olders the surviving members of previous Cavy experiments. They find that the Olders are keeping secrets of their own and their help won't come without costs. With nowhere else to go and still questioning who to trust the Cavies take a chance on hearing what the government, whom they believe is responsible for everything going on in their lives, has to offer.

Leigh is able to keep you engaged throughout the story with twists and turns. She keeps you guessing on who's good and who's bad. She has you longing for a normal life for Gypsy and her Cavy family. Will they ever be able to live their lives freely and if so at what cost?

Book 2 is a nail biter! Gypsy and her Cavy friends aren't able to have the normal lives they were hoping for. Now stuck between trust the CIA and a group the Olders, they to figure out who's telling the truth and who can help them save one of their own. It not that easy since both sides seem determined to give away as few secrets as possible!

The Cortexiphan Kids! That's who they are!!

So far I have loved everything Trisha Leigh has written and Alliance is no different! After the ending of Gypsy, I needed its sequel in a BIG way. From start to finish this second installment kept me guessing, surprised me, and broke my heart.

There's not too much I can say without giving everything away. I loved the growth of Norah (Gypsy). I understand her draw to Jude, but the little lady just needs to realize that Shiloh (Mole) is the guy for her! I detest love triangles, but I'll let her make her own decision. There. That's where I stand.

Now I found the struggle between the Olders (agh, I keep wanting to say Others... difference TL series!) and the CIA to be particularly interesting. Yes there's a divide, but I'm STILL not sure which side I actually trust! The CIA had me at my wits end by the time I finished the book. I'll save my judgement for them until I re-read Alliance after it is released.

The Siphons? CREEPY! That’s all I’ll say about them.

And now the ending. It’s kind of a non-ending transition. Clearly there will be a third installment. I need it now. :)

I also love that this story takes place in my home state of South Carolina! That makes me a little biased, lol! ;)

*****Five stars from this happy reader!*****

I didn't read the first volume of this series, but I don't think it was completely necessary for enjoying this novel. Definitely a YA novel and written from a teen perspective, but older adults can enjoy it, too (I'm well past that age).
Even with the standard "willing suspense of disbelief" with science fiction and fantasy, some of the whole CIA mission and surrounding storyline had big holes, in my opinion.
I believe I will go back and read the first volume to see the back story; recommended for folks liking YA SF, especially things like Avengers. It also reminded me of the TV series Dark Angel.

I received this arc in exchange for an honest review:
this was a completely different genre for me to read. I didn't realise at first that there was a 1st book and it took a while for me to get to grips with what was going on. having said that Trisha`s use of language is do good that it doesn't take long to pick up on. I really liked the plotline and look forward to seeing where the cavys pick up from and what direction this takes me and whether I can. enjoy it more as I understand more from previous series

I think I loved this one as much, if not more, than Gypsy. There are many twists and turns! Trisha Leigh is so good at drawing in the reader. I felt a connection with the characters and all the emotions that came with them.

I am still reading, but I want to say I'm bummed that the description here on GoodReads gave away one of the details from the end of Book 1. I'd logged on here to check if the second book was available, as I was close to finishing Book 1. And, bam. Spoiler for the first in the series. Ouch.

While I did enjoy the story, I felt like it dragged a bit in places. Was harder to get into than the first book. But, I am still looking forward to reading more.
