It's been hailed as a groundbreaking new pesticide - a true revolution for farming and invasive plant control techniques. When strange deaths start spreading around the country like wildfire, it becomes apparent that this miracle chemical is actually a nightmare that threatens the lives of every single person on the planet.
On a small farm in rural Virginia, a string of animal deaths leads to the discovery of a horror beyond imagining. It is inescapable, unavoidable and impossible to combat, and everyone who comes close to it risks certain death. Worst of all - it's spreading.
In the Amazon rain forest, secret testing by the chemical's creator reveals its true effects, both on plant and animal life. Horrified by what he's created, he faces an uphill battle to reveal the truth as the world begins to crumble around him.
A mother - separated from her husband and child and trapped in the bottom of a bottle - chooses to fight the encroaching shadows, and in doing so brings light to the darkness. Her decisions, and those of other survivors of this horrific event, will be the only thing that stands between humanity and total annihilation.

Barry Napier is the author of The Cooper M. Reid series, The Bleeding Room, Bound, Break Every Chain, Nests, and several other titles. His books span a wide range of genres, from paranormal thrillers to Christian adventure.
He works as a ghostwriter while working on his own titles. He enjoys coffee, ambient music, and irony.
But there were so many errors, it distracted me through the entire series. Cam’s and Piper’s ages were different a few times. At one point it said John was 15 years older than Jameson but then later it said 10-12. Gary was in South Dakota one minute and then North Dakota the next. St one point Wayne’s last name was given as Babbat and not Gorman. It just made me think the author didn’t care enough to make sure he was consistent.
The worst part though was how Missy was handled. Do you even like animals? She was barely even mentioned, no one wanted her and when Wayne and Mikayla left, they just left Missy without even letting anyone know. There was one more brief mention of her where Wayne hoped she and Toby were there for each other. If you’re going to introduce a dog, give her a little better care.
Between that and the too many to list author errors, it doesn’t deserve a 5 star.
This book was gripping! If you told me the plot I would’ve rolled my eyes and said the plot sounded boring and unbelievable. But the way the book was written, the carefully managed speed of events, the different characters and journeys captured my imagination completely! Different storyline to my usual zombie apocalypse books but the way society breaks down is so realistic and you end up identifying with the characters. I loved the characters, but not all to begin with. Really well written book, thank you.
Jamesson Koontz was my favourite character. I loved Piper, a young girl with a strong head. Some really intense moments, and a few pages that I scan read, where the story was too much detail in a particular subject. Well worth reading, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Napier and Kraus are brilliant writers
This is one of my favorite books that I’ve read in the recent past few months. Very well written and I actually only found one grammar mistake in the entire book. I was amazed that the story about out of control kudzu could be so riveting and interesting. Definitely my favorite author at this time and I look forward to reading more of his work!
At first I thought it was a bit crazy to have the thing that's killing everyone be a plant. But the author was really good at selling it and after a bit, I no longer questioned it. The author is also great at knitting together relationships. I loved the story.
Not my type of apocalyptic story( to unbelievable). To many individual stories that never really connected together. There was so much repetitive backstory that I completely skipped the second book and didn’t miss anything.
Fast paced, easily digestible chapters of pulp thrills and horror. Easy to lose an entire day in. A different apocalypse from the usual, zombies, viruses and the like.
Wow! This was a great series to hunker down and enjoy reading, with believable relatable characters and a plot that most wouldn't necessarily believe could be life threatening. Absolutely worthy of your time!
I definitely recommend this series especially the story line it was a different way for humans to try destroy our world and I admired the strength of the people who made it to the end
