This book was horrible. There were scenes that felt like they were loosely stitched together instead of flowing along into a story. Also, this author is big into tell don't show. The main character is supposed to be learning magic. We see virtually none of it. I won't be pursuing any more if her novels.
I liked the beginning of the book but after that it got difficult to follow. I think some of the chapters got out of order or something. I think if the book was taken apart and put back into the correct order I would have enjoyed it. I couldn't finish it because of the way it jumped around.
I’ve never been one to let a little bit of editing get in the way of enjoying a book but this one was just a little too far. Characters were just dropped in out of nowhere, Ian changed last names, I never did understand when Clyde became power hungry too. That is just a few of my most confusing moments. And just who the heck is Caldwell?
Maddie Moore thought things in her life were going well, even peacefully. Then all changed. An ancient book somehow arrived from her aunt just before the woman passed away. It's inside the ages of that strange book where mystery and suspense are found. This is a quick read and a good story.
