This one almost got 4 stars, until it ended abruptly on a "please read my books" cliffhanger. The characters here are more nuanced and feel more like movers of the plot (rather than the other way around) that the previous 3 stories. I suspect this one was written much later in the series' life than at least the first two.

I highly recommend that you read these short stories in order, as they do all intersect here. I also would suggest that some or all (not sure which) of the main series be read before these; there were clearly "off screen" events referenced here for which I had little context. If the series these belong to progress similarly to these short stories, this should be a trilogy I can enjoy.

A short story focusing on one of my favorite characters from The Human. A good read, and one that leaves me wanting to dive right into the next book, The Half-Blood, to see what happens next.
