When a teenage porn star is found dead in her room, the LAPD dismiss it as not a top priority to investigate. In fact, the local cops make a thorough mess of the crime scene .... having the body transferred before the detectives even arrive .... leaving behind potential evidence.

This is the seventh book in the Jessie Hunt series but it can be read as a standalone.
LAPD Detective Ryan Hernandez and his profiler partner, Jessie Hunt, are having dinner, working on a budding personal relationship, when an anonymous caller alerts them to a murder investigation currently underway. This is the beginning of a roller coaster ride as the two investigate not only the death of a teenage porn star but the apparent rush-to-closure of the case. As Jessie and Ryan get more deeply involved, they put their careers and their own lives on the line to uncover the truth behind the apparent bungling of the case and to find the girl’s killer.
This is a fast-paced thriller that keeps one guessing how high up the police chain-of-command the corrupt investigation goes and who is the real killer. Could it be a member of the police force?
I received a copy of this book from BookSirens for an honest review. I recommend it for those looking for a good suspense book. My only complaint is that in order to make it a standalone, the author gave away too much of the plots of the previous books. Knowing what I do now, I can only look forward to future books in this series.

This book was much better than the last. One of the best in the series. This one is more case-driven with little focus on the overarching plot, but that did not take away from it. I was hooked instantly. The case is interesting, and reading it felt similar to that of a Law and Order episode. I am quite interested where the author is going to take Hannah's character but I definitely am enjoying Jessie's story.

Can’t believe I’ve read seven of these books already. At least it’s making me read more. I’d probably give this a 3.5 but felt generous this time. The endings of these books seem to get even more ridiculous each time it’s honestly entertaining how nonsensical it has become. I want someone else to read this series so I can talk about it with them!

Very enjoyable, fast-paced, crime with a good protagonist in Jessie Hunt, an FBI profiler. It's lean writing with nothing unnecessary to the plot of the story other than some personal aspects of Jessie's life which complement the main story well. This is the first Jessie Hunt novel I've read in the series. I enjoyed this enough for me to start reading from the beginning of the series. Looking forward to that!

Refreshing read. I took a break on the series after the last book and coming back to this one was so nice. After abandoning our previous villains, I’m excited to see where the new ones take us. 3.5

I do love this series. It keeps me going while I’m at work. This is the first book that has had a male killer since book 1. I kept looking at the females wondering who it was as that has been Pierce’s MO in this series.
The ending was a little more anticlimactic that I would have expected. There are also no suspects through the entire book basically so you have no one to go on and the killer is just “Boom! In your face” at the end. No clue who he was until they stumbled upon him.
This book also focuses more on Hannah and her story. I don’t think we have gotten the complete Hannah yet.
All in all a great book. On to the next one.

3.5-3.75/5 stars. Super fast read that was also quick moving. I really like the MC’s overall, but Jessie can be a little too much. It’s good to “see” her get called out a bit finally. More realistic, imo. Regardless, I enjoy this series which introduced me to this author, & will keep with it for sure! :-). Cheers! Lisa

This was a really good book. Twists and turns and just when you think you have it figured out, you don’t. I love the characters and the development they’ve taken throughout the series. I would like Jessie to go less on her hun he’s and stick to the evidence. Likewise, I don’t really enjoy Romance in my murder mysteries. But the real issue I had is I didn’t care for the past page of the book. I can’t say anything more without giving spoilers. Overall, great book and I’m going on to the next installment I. The series.

This book started out promising, but it turned out with the same basic plot as all of the other ones that came before it. Jessie is assigned to a murder, Jessie is told to stop investigating, Jessie investigates anyway getting in trouble. Yawn.

"The Perfect Affair" is the 7th book in the Jessie Hunt psychological suspense series by Blake Pierce. Before I begin my review of the book, I must put this out that I have not read any other book of the series. However I found that this book could be read as a standalone book.
The opening hook is engaging and instantly draws the reader to the plot. The exposition of the story introduces us to the backstory of Jessie and her sister Hannah. So we have a basic idea of where Jessie has come from and her thought process behind her actions. The main plot point is a murder investigation that Jessie and her partner Ryan is drawn to due to a mysterious call. Although not in her jurisdiction, Jessie tries to find the clues that will solve the murder.
The plot has all the elements of a thriller along with the basic 3-act structure; the inciting incident, the climax and the resolution. It is scattered with the tension and thrill that a psychological suspense is supposed to provide to a reader. While reading the story, I could feel the tautness of the situation as Jessie tries to navigate around the case. The murder itself was interesting, even without the other elements at play.
The character sketches of the story is as much as expected from a book that is a part of a series. While it is true that a better understanding of the protagonist and character development is to be gathered by reading all the preceding books, but as we do have a little back story, we can fairly make out her personality, from the interactions of the characters. The author has beautifully described the emotions of the characters. The fear and apprehension were palpable which is what I look for in a good book.
The pace of the book was comfortable, neither too slow nor too fast paced, i.e the author has not rushed the story in order to give the impression of a fast paced thriller (which can go so wrong sometimes). I enjoyed the story as comfortably as I would expect from a police procedural suspense novel.
As this is the first book of the series that I have read, it certainly has made me want to checkout the rest of the books in the series. I would definitely recommend the book to all thriller and suspense lovers.

Jessie criminal profile specialist working for the LAPD has seen life at its worse and now he her 17 year old half sister is living with her after their Dad a former serial killer had tried to kill them both. I say former as being dead he can no longer carry on in the life style he was formerly living.
So with that all clear she is now on a date with her newish boyfriend Ryan a Detective also with the LAPD when he gets a tip of a murder that has taken place but isn't going to be what it seems. So a great start to a great thriller what follows is a ride and a half with the twist and turns you'd expect from a good thriller but the twists aren't predictable so fear not about that but you can fear the thriller as it takes you to the edge and back. My only complaint being it was too short as in I wanted more I wanted the best for our hero's and the longer the thriller the greater the danger so it was the right length I guess but I wanted more time with Jessie I'm selfish like that.
I do recommend this book hence the 5 stars I hope you do read it there are some great characters and some vile ones that I'm sure it's ok to hate, I'm glad there is a while ocean between them and me (yes I'm aware it's a work of fiction) as well as the width of the States, but then it's also meaning that Jessie is too far away no pleasing me well apart from a well written book and this is definitely that.

I am kinda sad I have to wait until the fall to read the rest of the Jessie Hunt Psychological Thriller books. But I have to find another series to read. Loved this book from beginning to end. We start out this book with the establishing or letting us know that the sisters are living together now. Jessie is still having nightmares and her sister is still trying to work her way through what as happened to her by not acknowledging anything happened. They both see the same shrink Dr. Janice because she is the best Dr. psychiatrist around. She helped Jessie to get through and still helping her with all the craziness that has happened in her life. The story this time is about a young girl posing as at least an eighteen year old working in porn and waitressing. The victim is stabbed about nine times and the the people in the Valley division was trying to shut it down the investigation before it got started. The detectives running the investigation did not want Ryan or Jessie on this one and kept warning them off. Ryan and Jessie have admitted that they are boyfriend and girlfriend and now they have to wade through being partners sometimes and being romantically involved. I loved this book and can't wait for the rest of the series. I highly recommend this book.

This is my first book by Ms Pierce and obviously, her Jesse Hunt series. Lucky for me the book works as a stand alone story. I think Ms. Pierce is onto something with her Hunt character. I take it Hunt has been pretty busy in the previous six stories fighting a collection of serial killers, some who seem to be related to her. This story has those villains behind her. Now she's after the killer of a high school girl who stars in adult films. There's good collection of suspects, a steady companion and a corrupt police department.
There's a Harry Bosch feel to it and that's not bad. It's not written (or edited) as well. There are some passages that were cringe worthy. For example a scene where she says she felt like kissing per partner but "valiantly decided not to". Really? Is it written to appeal to her audience? Maybe I don't understand the purpose of writing it this way. To me, it's keeping the book from being as good as it could be.
I did enjoy it and might read one of the first six to get the background story. I listened to the audio book. The narration was fine, I'd prefer a female with a deeper voice, but this was adequate.

Another book I loved. How she comes up with all these different crimes. This one involved police corruption in the departments. It is interesting to see how different authors handle this subject. I love her writing and can't wait for the next book to see if she continues this plot line. This book was left with a cliffhanger

AGH! Book Eight doesn't come out until October of 2020. Sheesh..... From the first book in this series to this seventh, Jessie Hunt has just gotten better and better as a profiler. Jessie uses both her gut and her knowledge in each of her cases, but yet in each installment, she ends up getting knocked in the head! I didn't see this "knock" coming though. Jessie Hunt and her now boyfriend Ryan Hernandez catch wind of the death of a young woman. One agency wants to close out the case quickly, while Jessie and Ryan have way too many questions. As always, Blake Pierce makes sure there are at least two other side stories going on. Jessie and her new-found half-sister Hannah are now living together, each still learning to trust the other. I was also pleased to learn more about our mysterious Garland Moses! This is indeed a fast-paced book and super hard to put down. And now I wait til October....

𝙍𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙥:: Jessie Hunt is a FBI Criminal Profiler investigating the brutal death of an underage porn star, Mikayla. She’s determined to find the truth, even if it means hurdles from the local police and disobeying orders to stay away.
𝙎𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙩𝙏𝙚𝙖 ☕️:: This was a quick and easy investigative mystery, dialogue driven, and only took a day to finish. Based on the cover, I thought there would be some kink and steamy scenes, but there was none - unless you count the names of the porn videos they referenced. Also, the title didn’t seem to match up with the story.
For me, this was the equivalent of a Law & Order SVU episode. (I love SVU btw) Murdered teen, troubled life, multiple suspects... Jessie was in full Det. Benson mode of finding justice for the victim - a strong, take-charge, kick ass kinda woman!

I might be losing interest in the series. I just don’t know how much physical trauma a person can handle and keep going, so Jessie Hunt seems a little unbelievable? Mythical? It’s definitely taking her and Ryan a while to decide they like each other, and of course the reader wants to know that ultimately she is safe. Now Hannah is in the picture. Hannah Hass to be protected. Hannah has drama. Hannah has emotional needs.
Don’t be fooled by the cover. It’s not totally trashy. No 17-year-old should be involved in videos like they are, and I think it’s highlighted that it is wrong to do these kinds of things with an underage girl. However, the fact that the end of the book leaves in the video industry in trouble but not permanently closed is disappointing. It shows what society thinks it’s acceptable.

This is my second Blake Pierce book, though I haven't read any of Jessie Hunt's other adventures. Like his first book that I read, this book did not disappoint.
We follow Jessie, a criminal profiler as she scrambles to solve the murder of a young girl. Further to the standard difficulties of solving a complicated case, Jessie must also contend with corruption from her colleagues who are more intent on burying the case than solving it.
A great read for people interested in psychology and crime thrillers. I was able to read it as a stand alone quite happily. I enjoyed the plot and the ending wasn't predictable. Thanks for an entertaining read.

When I first started this book 7 in the series, I had to stop part way through, it was so compelling that I just had to start at the beginning book 1, which was free on Amazon. So I binge read 6 books back to back then dove into this one. Jessica ‘Jessie’ Hunt is a badass female profiler who tracks down serial killers, with the help of her dashing side kick detective Ryan Hernandez. The storyline and Plot was exciting along with the great side characters. Jessie Hunt is a great crime fighter and I put her up there with my favourite female law enforcers like FBI profiler Lilah Love and Sergeant Lindsey Boxer. Would highly recommend.

The Perfect Affair, book seven of the Jessie Hunt series. If you have made it to book seven, your too invested (like me) to give up. Though over all I give this author and this series a 3.5 star rating, I still find myself hooked and wanting to keep reading through the series. I am officially invested in both Jessie Hunt and Officer Ryan Hernandez and want to continue their story. Though the author could lay off recapping previous books within his writing, I still enjoy the story lines. These books are short easy reads and are always packed with suspense and mystery.
If you have not started the series yet, and stumbled across this title, I highly recommend you start from the beginning and work your way through.

I love this series (this is the 7th book) but this is the first book that I didn’t feel pulled to keep reading. It’s usually a lot more intriguing and captivating so this one felt a little boring.
The criminal investigation stories are usually very good and makes me anxious to find out who the murderer is…this one just didn’t bring that excitement.
The romance story between her and her partner is slowly burning too. Their budding relationship was hardly mentioned in this book, which was disappointing since the last book had quite a bit of them starting this journey as a couple. I thought we would get more of that in this book but it was almost completely avoided.

Geez, there were a lot of interesting plots in a single novel, some resolved, some resolved so subtly I wasn't quite sure they were resolved. There were almost too many bizarre families of origin to keep them all straight and I'm not certain the main character, Jessie, didn't sometimes look at the victim and see her half-sister.
I found it all quite intriguing and I am eager to read another book with Jessie in the lead soon.

This is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. I had a hard time putting this book down once I started it. The storyline kept me engaged and the mystery was tightly plotted.
Jessie works as a profiler with the LAPD, teamed up with Ryan a detective with the special homicide unit. They discover a murder being pushed through to closure and things don’t add up. As they investigate they put themselves in danger. But Jessie can’t let it go. Can Ryan keep her safe as they circle closer to the killer?

I really enjoyed this thriller-mystery. I hadn’t read the previous books in this particular series, but I will certainly be looking out for them. This is a Jessie Hunt book. She’s an FBI agent, a profiler and is working with LAPD dectective Ryan Hernandez. A vulnerable young woman is stabbed to death, but the police don’t seem interested. The book is well paced, well written and satisfying to read. For me, the multiple events in Jessie’s earlier life seems a bit too much, but other than that I would thoroughly recommend it.
