Claimverse #2

Knot Happening Again

Rate this book
Half-marked and desperate, I never thought I'd find a pack willing to take me on.

Then I meet the Carver pack through Temporary Bonds, an agency dedicated to matching omegas in need with packs for no-strings-attached arrangements. These alphas and their beta are everything I've ever wanted--kind, successful, and determined to ease my agonizing heats.

I mean, one of these alphas literally wrote the book on all things omega health, and he's drop dead gorgeous to boot.

Too good to be true? Definitely.

Especially when I meet the final alpha in the pack and discover he’s none other than the alpha who abandoned me years ago.

Now he's back, swearing he's changed and begging for a second chance.

All I know is this heat will change everything. But as for putting my heart on the line?

That's definitely knot happening again.

Knot Happening Again is an OV Rejected Mate WhyChoose Romance, with NO cheating, ALL the feels and spice, and an HEA guaranteed. All books in the Claimverse are standalones and the series does not need to be read in order.

I was super excited for this book and overall loved it BUT the author definitely used AI to flesh out some bits, especially in the back half. This is so disappointing and really turned me off to what would have been a great omegaverse book with great grovel.

I love listening to reddit stories while getting ready in the morning and have heard my fair share of obvious AI ones. They all have the same wording and overall flow to them when AI is added. Here are some examples of places that I think AI was definitely used:

“I shrug, feeling the weight of years of pain and anger pressing down on me.” Page 185

“It's become my refuge these past couple of weeks, a place where I can breathe without feeling the weight of expectation pressing down on me.” Page 422 (this one especially, the “weight of expectation pressing down on me” is superrrr common in AI stories)

“We stand there in silence for a moment, the gravity of the situation settling over us like a heavy blanket. The muffled sounds of the bar drift out into the night, a stark contrast to the turmoil churning inside me.” Page 509

It’s extra annoying because the AI bits are just not needed. This book was super long and didn’t need to be, without the AI and parts that were expanded for no reason I would have loved this book

I think this was better than the first book but it still didn’t hit the mark. It was decent and there was some grovel. The MMC that messed up (Leon) left this omega (that he is betrothed to) with a half bond that caused her to be disowned and destitute, in terrible pain, and in constant danger because of the impact it has on her scent. He half bonded her and left because…he was “scared”…? He didn’t want to take part in the cookie cutter super privileged life his parents had picked out for him and she was part of that. It makes no sense. I expected it to at least have been her family finding him in her bed and making him leave or something. No. He just left her there. On purpose.

I think the book was entirely too long. The beginning back and forth of Leon looking for Ophelia and the pack wanting to bring Ophelia in was way too long. There is absolutely no reason the pack didn’t say her name to Leon at all for the first 40% of the book. I was so bored that every time there was a near miss on them figuring it out just made me mad instead of building the anticipation.

The best/only friend the FMC has betraying them because they’re jealous is so overdone and dumb.

There are some mistakes in the book, like in chapter 11 Rhys is said to have a scent of sunshine and petrichor but in chapter 43 his scent is honey and sandalwood. (In highlights I posted)

Starting with the positives: The pack is honestly great. Wish we got more of their individual personalities. Now, to be fair, maybe some character development happened during the steamy moments and I skimmed over them (because it was over-saturated for my taste).

Honestly it was too long for what it had. There is some groveling from the alpha in the pack who had wronged her in the past, but it went on for a majority of the book and it was the same thing every time. We kept having the same character moments, over and over, which is a shame because the pack is well built and their individual characters are quite charming. I wish we got to spend more time with everyone on equal footing. We spend most of the book with the pack trying to give her stuff and Ophelia basically saying “I couldn’t possibly, I’m not worthy, well ok”. It made every moment that should have had some weight feel a little shallow and unearned.

DNF@ 66% for me.

This was 529 pages too long—way too long. This entire plot could’ve been resolved in under 350 pages (and that’s being generous).

Additionally, the characters just didn’t connect with me. They all felt very surface level.

Great start. Solid angst. Lovely pack with incredible Alphas.

Then it draaaaaaaaaaaaagged. Far too long.

DNF at 73%. This book is really long but not in a good way. It’s repetitive at times and many of the scenes could have been condensed. A large portion of the story is the FMC going through her day to day but there’s no story happening. It’s not worth it to me to keep reading.

Also, all of the MMC except Leon are immediately in list over Ophelia so there’s not much building happening. The only relationship growth in my opinion is between her and Leon and it’s not enough to be worth 600 pages.

Another issue in the book was the story at times doesn’t make since. Ophelia grew up in a rich family but is cutoff at 18. However, the author writes her as if she’s been poor her whole life. It’s weird she’s never seen large house or been on plane if she was born wealthy.

Another great omegaverse book by Harper. She’s found her own little twist on this trope and has done it so well ☺️. I really enjoyed the epic grovelling that Leon had to do 😉

Most of the plot revolved around the MMCs reassuring the FMC of their feelings. It got to a point at the end where it was one scene after the other of the FMC having an insecure breakdown and then the MMCs comforted her. A few early scenes also didn't match up with Ophelia's personality. She transformed from a seemingly strong woman into someone riddled with doubts and insecurity in herself. It was as if I'd started reading a second book when she met Leon in the pack's home. Her reaction to his presence and connection in the pack was completely different from how she'd previously reacted when he reached out to her on his own.

Additionally, most of the MMC's with the exception of Leon are one dimensional. It's hard to believe that without a scent match, they'd ever notice Ophelia. Leon, despite being the ultimate antagonist after leaving Ophelia half bonded, seems contrastingly remorseful and whiny. He often makes comments such as:
"I'll find a way to deal, even if she can never forgive me."
These comments were constant when he spoke about her. If he's truly changed, his actions would show that. His actions to earn her forgiveness are material. He buys her art supplies, a house, a car, a plane, a bunch of flowers, stuff for her nest, etc. I would have appreciated more if he admitted to her family what he'd done because he was the reason she was shamed and disowned. That could've been a part of the conflict. Another instance could've been him just always showing up for her. He had up and left her originally, so it would've been more impactful for him to continue to show that he wasn't going anywhere.

Also, the whole pack dynamic was weird. Rhys and Leon are bonded, but the rest of the pack isn't. It made it seem like the only important bonds in the pack were between Rhys, Leon, and Ophelia and the rest of the pack was just fodder for the plot.

surface level character

what even was this? the bones of this book was really good but there was no character depth at all. it was way more telling than actually doing or talking. what happened to Mace? we never saw any one on one time with them. she even makes a comment to troy about all the dates they went on but when was that? she bonded with rhys but then ignored everyone for weeks? i felt like ophelia barely had any personality. i understand that she was hurt and jaded but the girl never expressed any feelings for the guys or anything. did they all sleep in her nest? did they sleep separately? we don’t know because nothing like that was ever mentioned. it all felt very surface level. and don’t even get me started on the weird side story the last three chapters with her friend. that should’ve been happening during the middle of the book. it felt like the author didn’t know where else to go with this story so she just added something to make it longer. i was super disappointed in this book

Fun read

This was an enjoyable OV book. There’s some common tropes and a few that have been flipped too. The plot was good and the characters were great.
I did have a few issues with this book. Firstly, the continuity is not great, particularly with the scents Ophelia smells on her pack. Things wound up feeling repetitive too. That took a lot away from the story for me.
Secondly, this is very intimacy heavy. Every scene that involves physical intimacy is *extended*. There’s only so many times you can read the same things before you start rolling your eyes and skipping multiple pages. A closed door every now and then is totally acceptable, you know??

Other than that, it was a fun, easy read with an extensive (and expensive) grovel.

The book was OK, the story interesting, but with a few problems.
The continuity of the story was lacking (never took a plane and then she went to France as a young girl? Born rich but never went shopping?), several typos and what made me sad was the lack of depth of the characters, excluded Ophelia and Leon. What's the point of writing a OV if you want to write about just 2 MC?
I think that this is a good start, but needs more work and attentions

I liked this one more than the first one. Things that I liked and things that I didnt. I liked that Leon was held accountable for his actions, but I didn't like that his entire pack was willing to punish him also. These were his family !e!here and it just didn't sit well.

I enjoyed this one quite a bit!!

I love rejected mates and while this wasn’t exactly that, it had the vibe of it for sure.

Ophelia is left with a half mark after sharing a night with Leon. She thought it was going to be forever but he leaves. Now years later she is working at a Rut Bar and he finally tracks her down. Ophelia however has been seeing a temporary pack to get through her heats, his pack.

I really liked seeing Ophelia find love and find acceptance when she didn’t think she deserved it. A reminder that we’re not tied down by our pasts and that we can move forward if we choose to.

I also really loved how different all the guys were. My favorite was a toss up between Troy and Mace. Two very different guys but I adored them.

I also really appreciated that Leon had to genuinely work to get Ophelia to even talk to him. His groveling was long and he took great lengths to gain her forgiveness.

I love that.

Needed serious editing, way too long.

I wanted to like this. It was a great premise. Rejected omega, lots of grovelling and no body betrayal syndrome. Plus the rest of the pack had the omegas ‘back’ when it came to the idiot MC who rejected her - normally the MCs all band together and ask the FMC to forgive the shitty one under the premise of their behaviour not being ‘too bad’.

Here we had remorse, guilt and serious grovel. Plus an honest reason for the rejection instead of gaslighting- I did it to protect you, blah blah blah.

But, this book was just way way too long. It needs about 150 pages lopped off and you wouldn’t have noticed. The sex scenes were repetitive and boring. If I had to read one more time about the FMC’s back arching after orgasm I would have thrown my kindle.

Also, it took 45% of the book for the realisation that Leon was the 5th pack member that Ophelia hadn’t met, and he was her rejected mate. It was just insane that at no point up until then did they mention his name in front of her. Also she was in that house on several occasions and there were photos in the hall of all of them and she didn’t notice? It was just unbelievable by that point.

Then we have the usual 3rd part angst with the media being informed of Ophelia’s past and the pack try to find the leak, when surprise surprise it’s Ophelia’s supportive best friend. Like how dare a FMC actually have a likeable female friend, so naturally they need to be the villain. Sigh.

I was very disappointed in this book and will not read this author again. I know other reviewers have suggested the use of AI. I’m not sure as I think an AI wouldn’t leave so many typos and errors all over the place….. example, she’s never flown before and is scared or flying which leads to a sex scene, few chapters later she’s talking about a trip to France when she was a teenager, as it’s based in America then she clearly flew to France. So yeah, if I can spot that, then clearly the author hadn’t even bothered to read the completed book once through.

Just planned to give this one a try, expecting to not like it, but I was pleasantly surprised by it.

I think it's impossible for the one MMC to do enough grovel to make up for what his cowardice subjected her to for 7 years, but he did actually show that he had changed completely and that he felt true remorse. That's been a rare occurrence in the books I've read lately (bc I'm a sucker for the gut punch of betrayal, but only when followed by adequate grovel and change), so it was really nice to see it here. The FMC did not forgive him for a long time, but she also didn't want to tear their pack apart. While she made different decisions than I wanted her to make early on, I do like the outcome of everything that happened. I even like the pace of most of it too.

These MMCs were completely devoted as soon as soon as (or soon after) they realized she was their scent match. They were attentive and protective, and most of all loyal, and that's exactly what she needed.

‼️ SLIGHT SPOILERS

My biggest reasons for only giving 3 stars is because some of the characters fell flat, and for some ott mean girl stuff at the end that didn't need to happen, but I do accept that happening in place of a third act breakup.

Other than that, this was a cute read.

3.5⭐️ rounded up to 4

There are some aspects I loved about this, some I disliked and a lot I was bored by.

Love:
- Fully formed characters. They had personalities and I loved them all.
- Interesting world building
- Good grovel
- Likeable FMC, I really felt and raged for her
- Both cozy and angsty

Disliked:
- Too long. This did not need to have 3 heats or a few things mentioned several times that bore no consequence for the story (the unlocked scent? It had no bearing for the story)
- So many spicy scenes. I generally don't mind a lot of them, but they felt repetitive and were fairly vanilla

Bored by:
- So. MUCH. Spice.

I did enjoy it, but wouldn't necessarily recommend it and I know I won't be re-reading this.

Loved!

I loved Knot Happening Again! Ophelia may have been born to high society with a silver spoon in her mouth, but one moment changes her life forever. She was all in and got her heart broken. After that, she did what she needed to do to survive.

The last few years for her may have been extremely hard, but taking another leap of faith landed her exactly where she was supposed to be. Her confidence grows so much and she learns to trust again. I always love a good scent match/instant attraction ov, but I also love when they work for it and she definitely makes one go through all the hoops. In the end, she's found her pack, her family and everything she deserves in life.

I can't wait for the next Claimverse book!

★3/5! well it was definitely better than the first book, but it was also a lot longer than needed to be.

i think the page length should’ve switched books, ‘Knot the one they want’ needed to be longer to show the relationship dynamic more ESPECIALLY to show the men actually did love Evie!

However this one was about 200 pages too long. the repetitiveness damn, i honestly thought i hadn’t turnt the page because it was just the same thing constantly. Enjoyed the first half of the book though! Loveee my girl Ophelia! Glad she got the family and happiness she deserves.

I like the authors writing style, it’s easy and quick to get into which is so helpful if you’re in a slump 24/7 (me sighh)

Currently forcing myself to finish this book. If I have to read “makes her/me see stars” or “back arches off the bed” or “as if my/his words were all he/she needed to O” one more time it’ll be too soon. It’s ruined me for life. This book is so badly written. It’s constantly repeating the same words or scenes just with another one of the guys. I’ve read a ton of Omegaverse at this point and there’s just no imagination here.

100% DO NOT RECOMMEND.

If there is ever to be a book I think was written by AI this could totally be it. Just a ridiculous amount of blatant repetitive filler. The phrase of someone being made “to see stars” was used SIXTEEN times. Sometimes more than once on a page. The number of “trays laden with” eggs & bacon & coffee was also tiring. So many repeated sentences or ideas. MANY occurrences of “we laid in silence except for our heavy breaths.” It was painful. I’m DNFing @ 53%.

I just love this author. I like it more then the first one in the series. There was much more groveling as it should be. And I liked this pack more. Even the FMC was more to my liking but that was all personal preference.

If there was a little more unexpected drama I would have given it a 5 stars

Good plot, trouble with the execution.

The premise of the plot is really good, and the amount of groveling Leon had to perform was about appropriate. I enjoyed the very different personalities of the male leads and despite there being a fair bit of character development, the story could have benefited from a bit more, especially with Mace who seemed to be shortchanged in book's plot, as well as scenarios involving interactions between the men themselves, more thoroughly developing their friendships and the pack dynamics that tied them together like the initial scene between Leon and Mace in the gym) which was sadly lacking. I appreciated the self-awareness of Leon and the mistake he made, as well as each of the failings and strengths of the male characters in the pack.

I liked the premise more than I liked the execution though. The main problem with the story are the plot errors, which pertain to important character development points. In keeping with all Alpha/Omega plots, each of the Alphas have their own unique scent, but the author can't seem to keep them straight. For the first half of the book, Rhys' scent was described as "petrichor and sunshine," only to have it changed around page 346 to "honey and sandalwood" for the last third of the book, a mistake that might have occurred from when the author said Rhys' favorite incense with sandalwood. Then there's Leon's scent which is initially described as "cedar and citrus" and is supposed to blend with his bond mate Rhys' "petrichor and sunshine," (which does make some poetic sense and sounds like it would smell divine), however, the author can't keep Leon's sent straight either, and switches it's description to "pine and smoke" as well as "pine and winter air." Quite frankly, I liked the first descriptions better, but I just wish she would have kept them straight.

Then there's the issue of Ophelia's never having supposedly been out of the country and never having been on an airplane, facts detailed during the scene where Rhys and Maddox take her to the cabin, only to be contradicted when Leon takes her on her first date to France, which is supposedly a return to her favorite restaurant they first visited together during her aunt's wedding as teenagers.

The friend who turns out to be a viperous witch was fairly predictable but still I appreciated how well Ophelia took it illustrating the characters growth in the relationships she had decided upon.

So, while the plot premise the characters and the development of the characters within the plot was enjoyable this could have really benefited from a much more thorough editing because the plot mistakes throughout were inexcusable and frustrating for me as a reader. It took what could have been a four-star plot down to a two - or three-star plot. Still I give a modest recommendation for the book but have to admit I was disappointed.

**Spoilers**

I was about 57% of the way through the book when it started to become a little bit difficult to read.
The very beginning was awesome, it hooked me, pulled me in, and I was really into the set up and all the characters and it’s decently written.

However, once we hit the halfway mark, it starts to become obnoxious in the way that Leon hates himself, how the pack has all this anger towards him for what he did, and then Ophelia’s naïve and annoying internal thought process on how she feels like she doesn’t deserve all this and it’s so hard to let go of all of these insecurities and blah blah blah. It’s just constant all the time and it’s repetitive. It’s also in my opinion, not realistic (which I hate using the word realistic in a made up universe.lol) the way the packed reacts to Leon. It’s hard enough to read all the self loathing he has towards himself, but to sit there and think about the fact that this pack has been together for years, and Leon and Rhys have a bond mark for each other, so that relationship is deeper and more important, yet Ophelia comes into the picture and Rhys is so quick to just be like fuck that guy? And I know it’s not that simple, and I know internally he’s miserable because his best friend did this supposedly horrible thing, but that just irks me when the author makes it to where the characters are less dynamic in their emotions. Because it comes off as very much the entire pack has completely turned their backs on Leon. Like there is no sympathy or real communication between the guys and Leon aside from Maddox (the Beta), and even then the author makes it sound like Maddox just sends a text message every once in a while checking in on him. For a group of alpha’s who are this upset about what he did to Ophelia and then abandoning her, they’re abandoning him right back when he needs them the most.

Another thing that bugs me about the way this whole situation was written is it wasn’t explained very well that they were actually engaged. I remember it was mentioned one single time, vaguely that it was pretty much set up by their parents. Their parents wanted them to be together, but they’ve known each other their entire lives and didn’t actually have a romantic relationship at all. In fact, Leon says in one of his chapters that he specifically ignored her when he came back to town from college one time not because he doesn’t like her, but because of all of the reasons he goes on to explain. And his reasons are valid.

He then comes back again during another one of his college breaks, and they sneak off and have a one night stand. They were engaged technically, but they had no romantic relationship, this was an arranged marriage set up by their parents, and it was something he did not want and he panicked and he left. Is that right? Absolutely not. However the author does not really set up how Traumatizing an unfinished bond is and the actual social implications it can have. It’s all just her own feelings of being used and dirty and not wanted. Even in the beginning when she’s setting up her appointment with the temporary bonds agency and she mentions that she has an unfinished mark, Samantha the receptionist has no reaction to it. She’s like yeah absolutely we can help you. It’s more common than you think. Like Ophelia’s made it up in her head that it’s this horrible horrendous thing and she’s exiled and dirty and disgusting and used, when in reality, it’s a horrible thing that happens yes, but it’s more common and more socially acceptable than she realizes.

But it’s her own feelings and her own biases that makes her so shocked to these realizations. It’s because she hates herself, she feels dirty. It’s made to seem like society shuns people who have this situation happened to them. That’s not how it is. So it’s difficult to have empathy for somebody who is taking the situation that they were given and making themselves this victim who doesn’t deserve anything. I get that’s how you can feel internally, but the author is just made it seem like it’s this horrendously, horrible thing and people who have these unfinished mate marks aren’t even allowed in society. That they have to hide and become prostitutes, that they’re not allowed in grocery stores or anything like that and they have to wear like a scarlet A taped to their clothes and their social pariahs. That’s really not how it is in reality though. So it’s just confusing and it makes the way that the pack treats Leon even more offputting.

I think what I’m trying to say is the way every single person is reacting to him half bonding her and then leaving her does not compute because it doesn’t seem like a big enough crime. You know what I mean? Not that it’s a crime, but everybody’s acting as if he loved her and they were in a committed relationship and they made promises to each other and then he half marked her and then sold her to slavery. That he actively on purpose sold her for sex trafficking. And then left like it didn’t matter. That’s how they’re acting, that’s how the reactions feel to me when that’s not at all what happened. Did he mess up? Yes of course. But also she chose to go into the line of work that she did. It just all seems like a lot of boo-hoo poor me, but don’t worry about me. I’ve been so strong and I’ll continue to be strong so it’s OK don’t worry about me. Like I hate that mentality and the way it’s portrayed. Just be strong. And if the boys in the pack turn their back on their best friend that easily, and are so quick to abandon him in his time of need, what does that say about them? That type of dynamic and those types of relationships are not cool to me and it makes it really difficult to read and get past because not only are they emotionally and physically abandoning their best friend for something that they have no clue on what actually happened, but once he comes back into the thick of it, they’re gonna hold it against him and Leon‘s gonna have to pretty much grovel and beg for his place back, and walk on eggshells and feel like an outsider, and they’re all going to treat him as such. That’s just such a sad dynamic, and it makes me dislike the rest of the pack a little bit.

I know it’ll all work out the end, but the part that I read when Ophelia agrees to meet with Leon
, and Rhys and Ophelia are sitting in the living room waiting, it just gives off like he’s our enemy. It’s like oh I’ve chosen Ophelia don’t worry, sweetheart I have your back no matter what, fuck my best friend. I really don’t care because you’re more important to me. I just feel like there’s no balance of relationships. Specially cause what Leon did is not as awful as everybody’s making it out to be. And nobody even attempted to get his side of the story.

And I know he had seven years to come clean. I know he actively lied, and I’m not saying that’s OK, what I’m saying is the response that everybody’s having to his actions, on top of his almost unbearable self loathing inner monologue is just ridiculous. We can tone it back with the dramatics because the punishment doesn’t fit the crime. That’s my two cents, but the writing is pretty good and it started off really really solid, I will finish the story but That’s just my two cents on things.

This sounded like it had potential but ended up falling short for me. There wasn’t much going on with the plot and the character/relationship development felt shallow.

I can’t believe I’m going to say this but I felt more sorry for Leon than Ophelia by the end. I love a good grovel and redemption but I just don’t think the past balanced out with his punishment. The guy was punishing himself for 7 years and searching for her, something that not only his pack didn’t seem to care enough to find out what was eating at him (Maddox and Mace noticed that something was wrong but decided Leon wasn’t sharing so they wouldn’t push… for 7 years!). And his so called “bond mate” was too self absorbed to notice something was wrong. Knowing there was something bad Leon wanted to confess to him at dinner but was more determined to push getting an Omega for the pack. Rhys knew leon was resistant for an Omega but bulldozed his way through to get what his wanted anyway. Because ‘Leon will work through his issues’ on his own. We are suppose to believe that Leon and Rhys are bond mates, closer then pack mates but Rhys doesn’t see that there is something wrong… for 7 years…

Then when the truth comes out that he abandoned Ophelia in the past his pack closes ranks around Ophelia, his “bond mate” is so hurt and betrayed that Leon kept it from him and Leon, again, is left to figure it out himself. They all basically shun him and put him in the naughty corner like a kicked little puppy. No body cared what the poor guy was going through or cared enough to find out. I cared more about that than Ophelia’s distrust and pain from her past.

I almost dnf’d a couple of times because I was tired of the spoiling her and her feelings of not deserving this and spicy times. It just started to feel repetitive and like filler.

So overall, the book was just ‘meh’ for me. I felt way too much time was spent on things that were not needed and not enough time was spent of things that would have enriched the plot (eg. Natalie betraying her ‘best friend’, just out of jealousy).

Let me start with the positive.
1. It's a second chance story and those are always among my favorite. Having had a broken heart myself I love that idea that the damage can be healed and a person can go on... it's pure fiction, but that is why we read these books.
2. The characters are interesting and pretty well developed. Each have clearly defined personalities that the author was good about staying true to. Although there was a down side to this to... because she was true to the character and all of Ophelia's... quirks... also stayed true. As did Leons... again a double edged sword.
3. Plenty of spice, even if some of it was a bit tame and repetitive.

Now for the rest of the story...

This book would have benefited from a more experienced editor. There were so many inconsistencies that is was honestly distracting.

**The passage of time... it was either weeks or months, depending of who was narrating at the time.
**Leon and Ryas alternately hand the scents sandalwood, honey, citrus, winter, cedar, petrichor, sunlight and grass. I felt bad for the other guys who only had one or two scents each.
**Costume changes mid conversation... which is it? Did she wear jeans she wiped her sweaty hands on or did she grip her skirt??
**A second shopping scene almost EXACTLY like the 1st one... only with the added bonus of teasing Leon with the lingerie he won't get to see her wear.
**Maybe learn a new way other than she "saw stars" to describe that how exciting the sex was... she saw start about 28 times in the book... that's a lot of stars...
I am just wrap up this part by saying..."Things can't go bath to the way they were..."

The whole unlocked scent thing, which was I thought a rather pointless thing as she was never in a situation where she was directly at risk cause she always smells like she is in heat, so it was just this extraneous bit of info but thank goodness it's resolved now...

Those are among the many things that a good editor could have noticed and mentioned to the author.

Lastly it feels both slow and rushed at the same time... every time I though O was getting closer to having an ounce of the empathy that Leon has for her she ... failed. There were moments of pure torture when Leon had to sit all night and watch as the rest of pack had an orgy... and he somehow gets a bit of hope from it... I get it... he did something awful but now you are bonded completely to him and you know two rather important things... 1st that he was NEVER with other people in the whole 7 years apart and you know how deeply guilty and ashamed he is... and still... she continues to prevaricate of empathy for him...

Overall I would not recommend it but unfortunately it was not the worst thing I have read this year...
