Excellent

Great book, instructive ,easy to follow techniques and overall an interesting read. I just finished reading it and can't wait to apply all the different techniques mentioned. As a newbie. I loved the fact that i don't need to buy expensive supplies to get me started.

This book covers all types of do it yourself printing on fabrics and is inspiring to encourage one to take up all sorts of techniques to achieve unique designs. I am inspired to give some of these ideas a try.

I really enjoyed this book, enough that I bought my own copy. There are a lot of interesting techniques for screen printing with fabric dyes.

Rayna Gillman is like the wildest kindergarten teacher ever. At first I was put off by this book because the results of printing using common household objects and trash were so ugly. But as I got into the book I could see all sorts of possibilities for easy, casual printing, and I'm sure I'll eventually try some of them. Rayna covers:

Stamping and stenciling with found objects
screenprinting (she makes it look easy; I've been intimidated to try it)
gelatin plate printing (cool)
screenprinting with dye
discharge printing
soy wax batik
rubbings

True, I'm easily put off by an aesthetic that I don't like, and I don't like her's. But after previewing this book at my library, I'm still going to buy it. One point off for aesthetics.

If you already know about print techniques in application to non-textile art then you probably know alot of the methods which Gillman uses in this book. The Gelatin printing was new to me however and I think it's a great idea.

So if you already know a think or two about print techniques I wouldn't put it on your to-buy list but it still might be a worthwhile library loan.

A very helpful introduction to get us started, then introduction in many various techniques, many good examples, perhaps a bit demanding for an absolute beginner, but very inspiring and motivating.
