How do you know when you’re settling in a relationship?

Hailey Ross and Logan Tate have been dating for six years. Thus far, their relationship has withstood the test of time, but when Hailey is ready for the next step, Logan is hesitant. They have had their fair share of arguments, but marriage has been on Hailey’s mind since the beginning of their love story.

While Hailey is working toward getting a ring, Logan is working toward selling a house. His priorities revolve around his new career path as a real estate agent and less on the current status of his relationship. Although Logan’s goal is to be able to financially support the life that they had been dreaming of, his views change when he realizes that Hailey may not be the one that he wants to continue his life with.

Logan and Hailey know that their future together is on the rocks, but they have invested so much time into each other. It’s hard to walk away from the person that you have spent over half a decade with, even if things are headed in the wrong direction.

Is their love for each other enough, or should they just let each other go?

3.5🌟 This is sooo interesting and unlike anything I’ve ever read before! It’s a dual POV story following a couple that’s on the verge of breaking up, and their POVs are so different it was entrancing and refreshing. Would recommend if you’re down for a rollercoaster of toxicity and drama (my favorite😍)

Painful to read, but in the best way possible 🥹

Ohhhh my heart! This was so hard to read because of how relatable it was. I feel like most people have been in relationships where the spark fizzled out, but continued to stay together because of used to each other they are, and that’s the central theme of this book.
This dual POV was so thorough in expressing each characters emotions and inner thoughts, and the ending put a ribbon on the entire thing so no questions were left unanswered. I absolutely LOVED that!
Bailey’s writing style is so beautiful and I’m so looking forward to reading more of her books in the future :)

I don’t like any of the characters. I do not feel attached to any of them. Most of the characters annoy me. Like Skyler and Logan. Piper and Dalton are nice I suppose but even they are cringe. The relationship between everyone is strange and I had trouble caring enough to continue reading. I feel bad rating this book so badly, but I really did not like it. Bailey Thomas’ other book is really good though. I really liked her first book she wrote. That is why I decided to read this book.

This book is the story of Hailey and Logan, a couple who’d been together for seven years. Due to Logan’s change in careers and Hailey’s growing impatience with waiting on the life he said he was going to provide them with, their relationship is understandably under strain. They both have a decision to make: Stick it out since they’ve put in so much time, or call it quits and move on for the better?

The book should have been, “You Never Should Have Caught Me” because of how unmatched Logan and Hailey seemed to be. The book starts at the tail end of the seven years they’d been together so we don’t see a lot of the happy times, but they seemed very incompatible from the start. Logan is more dependent, more into appearances, more about the status than Hailey is who appeared to be more laid back. I struggled to find how they were compatible enough to begin dating in the first place, considering they could barely stand each other throughout the story.

I went into this book fully on Hailey’s side. Like the movie “Alimony”, she appeared to be handling all the finances while Logan continued to be unappreciative of the effort she was putting in and the weight she was pulling in the relationship. Logan for his part was lazy, let his mom disrespect Hailey, and he was extremely unappreciative of her, often overlooking everything he did. So I strongly disliked him, even from the beginning of the book. However, what made this book so amazing was that it is dual POV. We also got to see the events that transpired from Logan’s POV as well. My hate for him did not lessen, if anything, it made me dislike him even more, but I could also see the subtle manipulation of Hailey and how she would belittle Logan, making him resistant to her in turn and you could see how the cycle just continued until their relationship burned out. I just felt like the author did such an amazing job of creating realistically flawed characters. I think this book does a good job at discussing issues like 50/50 and what it does to a relationship, as well as the tendency for women to settle for a ring, for a marriage after so many years, even if they are unhappy overall in the relationship. It was a startling wake-up call for me since I identified so much with Hailey and what she was going through.

The one thing I found odd, or misplaced about this book was the weird flirty relationship between Hailey and Logan’s best friend. She would lust after him in a way that was quite odd, considering she never seemed the type to cheat. For his part, he’d also say really odd things to her like, “I wish I could spend all day with you” when he had a fiance. I found their interactions to be weird and it threw the story off a bit because nothing was done with that in the end. It just kinda sat there as a reminder that Logan’s friend was a skeeve and a good one at that since nobody ever suspected him. But it just didn’t add much to the story

It’s probably petty of me, but I was glad to see that a year had passed and Logan still had not sold a house or gotten his own place. He was still under the clutches of Skylar, who acted so immature for her age. I wish Hailey would have completely moved on; she’d gotten a new job she loved and she adopted two pets. By the end of the story though she was still hoping Logan would want her back so she could crush him by saying no. I’d have liked her to be completely over him but I know it takes time.

Overall, this was a good book that I enjoyed reading and learned from. Certainly won’t be the last book I read of this authors!

I went into this blind in support of Indie Author, Bailey Thomas. I really enjoyed it. Bailey took me by surprise as she brilliantly navigated a dual POV with completely conflicting perspectives on just about everything. The relationship between Hailey and Logan is so relatable - but because they are so different, you're left wondering why the hell they are even together. You realize that the longer they're together, the more complacent they've become and the harder it is to leave that comfortability. They were in their late teens when they got together and now they're in their early 20's. Man, do I remember being there and in relationships like this!

While the author made me want to shake the shit out of both main characters, she writes them so you get a glimpse of their perspectives and reasoning that you might have been blind to. otherwise. The assumptions they make about each other leave you wondering whether this is just the way people are (Men are from Mars, women are from Venus type of thing) - because then you see how much they actually DO know about and feel for each other - and you love it for them.

As resentments grow, communication slips, and intimacy fades - each of them begin to question their relationship and you literally watch them teeter on both sides of the maturity spectrum. Their ignorance and lack of communication makes this book hard to put down. The author throws in some curve balls every once in a while that allows you to surmise just how wrong for each other these two are and you may ask why things aren't going a different way - but then you'll be damn glad it didn't go that way at the end. My freakin blood was boiling at the end.

My thoughts on characters: Logan can bite me with his selfish ass. Logan's mom is a real piece of work but a strong woman who knows and wants the best for her son. Dalton can really suck a fat one. Hailey ... I wish she knew her worth but another year or two of working on her codependency issues could help. In the end, she made me proud.

This book gave me closure, answered all my open questions. I love the way it was written and at first I rated it a 3.75 but after I realized how much her writing and each of these characters made me feel - I upped it to 4 stars.

Well done, Bailey! Well done!

Bailey Thomas's "You Should've Just Let Me Go" navigates the complexities of an on-the-edge long-term relationship as it tests the painful decision of whether or not to cut ties despite a long history that cannot be erased. Hailey and Logan, having spent six years together, form the epicenter of this story, Hailey now keen to proceed with marriage but Logan ever more dubious of where the relationship may head from here.

The author weaves a narrative that is incredibly relatable. Readers will find themselves familiar with the comfort and inertia that tends to trap people in relationships once the initial flame has burned out. The dual narration provided throughout the book is one of the main strengths. It makes readers deeply understand the internal conflict of both Hailey and Logan, conveying their contrasting points of view and the widening divide between them. This method of avoidance prevents both characters from being solidified as overt villains, opting instead to see two people doing their best under the limitations of a stale relationship.

The novel successfully illustrates the subtle manner in which a relationship can begin to crumble. The gradual accumulation of unstated resentments, the absence of actual communication, and the sense of just going through motions are all painted with a touch of realism. The author refuses to shy away from the painful realities of opting for comfort instead of actual happiness.

That said, the book can be emotionally taxing. Readers expecting a light romance will be swept up in the anxiety and frustration of the characters. Although the realism is to be admired, others may find the ongoing inner conflict and the gradual unwinding of the relationship a hard read. Generally "You Should've Just Let Me Go" is a moving and realistic portrayal of a relationship at its breaking point. Bailey Thomas successfully employs dual viewpoints to construct sympathetic depictions of two individuals struggling with painful choices regarding their common future. Emotionally challenging, yet thought-provoking, the novel provides insight into the complications of love, commitment, and the strength required to leave when needed.

Hailey and Logan are going through a rough patch both don’t seem to be 100 percent into this relationship but being together for almost seven years makes you ask yourself, is it worth leaving each other. Things are hard for Hailey she seems to be working so much while handling the workload at home while paying everything on her salary while Logan figures out his new career. Logan feels unappreciated not prioritized he reach his breaking point and tries to make it work along side Hailey, but is this relationship really worth saving ?

This book was a little bit different than what I usually read. It was a bit more realistic to what happens in todays day with dating. Some people stay in relationships just because they are settling with comfort instead of love and commitment. I wish I could of got a bit more on Haileys life after the breakup, she seemed to flourish while Logan did the opposite and I’m not saying he deserved it( but he did ) but I also wish I could of got a bit more on him because he thought he was doing the right thing but it seems to me that he made a big mistake but he never truly loved Hailey they way I think she deserved. He was a read flag from the beginning. Hailey fell for him at the start but then gave up after some time in the following years. In the end so some relationships aren’t worth fighting for and this book shows you exactly why you “should’ve just let go” totally love how the title does go with this story. This was a fast read, read it in a day just trying to see what was going to happened to this couple in the end I wanted something but the author gave us a great realistic ending 🖤🤍p.s it might seem that I’m on Haileys side but I’m not on either I feel like they both gave up on the relationship and should of parted ways years before this heartache but what Logan did after was messed up so I’m a bit on her side🤭

Heartbreakingly real

I saw a reel of this book on TikTok and was very interested in it. Indie author Bailey Thomas reached out and asked me to give it a try. I love discovering new authors and supporting indie writers so I gave it a try and I am very glad I did.

Let me say this is very different than my normal reads. Romances that are sweet, mafia, cowboy, enemies to lovers, romantic suspense. If the MMC wrongs the MFC there is groveling and all have a HEA. This was not that at all.

I felt this book was very real. Like looking into someone’s life. The dual pov was almost like a really good reality show where the couple individually sits in front of a camera and tells their side. The premise is a 7 year relationship falling apart. The things that lead to it and the progression. It was good read but a tough one as it brought out a lot of emotions in me: anger, disbelief, sympathy, which means it’s really good writing. At times I wanted to yell at them because they frustrated me.

Ultimately it showed how communication is so important in a relationship and not just assuming the other person’s feelings and intentions. Also how holding things in only leads to more problems. And how you should never settle and put yourself second just to have someone because it’s comfortable or you’re afraid to move on.

Logan, sorry I had a hard time with him. Hailey had flaws too, we all do but she put up with a lot. She broke my heart, I wanted to see her rebuild her life.

An excellent read. I wish we could see them further down the road in their lives in an additional epilogue, I got invested in them. If you need a quick, different read definitely try this one. It won’t be my last read from this author.

Hmmm...

This was a diligent read for me. I finished it out of curiosity and hope that the characters would finally wake up; both the main characters were rather irksome and I was unfortunately tempted to just stop reading. Maybe this was the goal, but they were all over the place. Neither seemed to have much common sense, and whenever there was a flash of maturity, in the next sentence or paragraph they'd totally contradict themselves and justify it with some self-serving logic. The miscommunication trope is not a fave of mineand it was grating to read continuous issues that could've been cleared up with simple conversation. They both made a lot of assumptions instead of just communicating. Hailey was desperate and delusional and a pushover, willingly letting Logan use her like he did while making excuses for him. And Logan was inconsiderate and a little spineless. And for Ivy to be such a point of contention early on, I noticed she was barely mentioned again; that was surprising, considering how important she supposedly was to Logan. It would've been interesting to see Skylar's reaction to her.

I know these characters were young but I hope that isn't meant to be the justification for how they dealt with things. The ending was kinda anticlimactic for me... Logan seemed no different than at the beginning of the book and Hailey wasn't much better. Due to how often they contradicted themselves throughout, I didn't believe her parting sentence at all. I just wish there had been more growth for these characters.

I’m giving this book a solid 4 stars because it was an easy, engaging read that I found hard to put down. From the very start, I was completely invested in Hailey’s character. I absolutely loved her—she felt real, relatable, and I found myself rooting for her throughout the story. Her determination and emotional depth really drew me in, and I was on her side the entire time.

The romance itself was sweet, though the spice level is on the lower side. There’s a bit of a forbidden workplace romance element that added an interesting layer of tension, even though the focus was more on their emotional connection than on steamy moments. I appreciated how the book balanced that, keeping the romance grounded while still feeling compelling.

The dual POV worked really well in giving us insight into both Hailey and Logan’s thoughts and struggles. I particularly enjoyed seeing Logan’s internal conflict, especially with his career taking precedence over his relationship. It really gave me a better understanding of why things felt off between them, despite the love they clearly shared.

While the story was more of a quick, feel-good read, it didn’t lack emotional depth. It’s the kind of book you can breeze through in a couple of sittings, but still find yourself thinking about afterward. If you enjoy character-driven stories with emotional tension and a bit of workplace romance, this one’s definitely worth picking up.

You Should’ve Just Let Me Go : Bailey Thomas
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is the 2nd self-published novel by Indie author Bailey Thomas.. and I’m so mad at myself for not reading it sooner! I really liked this book!

So, the book is Dual POV. It follows main characters Hailey and Logan in their relationship, or lack thereof. They were in a long-term 7 year relationship. Hailey is thinking marriage, but also finds multiple things she dislikes about Logan. Logan’s mind is far from marriage, and he has a lot of complaints about Hailey. Honestly, I hated Logan. I really wanted to like him at first, but he has a lot of growing up to do before he is in a relationship with anyone. Poor Hailey.. she has some growing to do as well, but she also needs to value herself a lot more than she did in her relationship with Logan.

The book shows how each character grows and changes after the break up. I would have to say the only thing I’m sad about is I wanted to see more of Hailey’s story after the break up. We got a snapshot of the year after the break up, but I didn’t want it to end. I wanted that happy ending love story for Hailey… (who cares about Logan, right? 🤣)

Talk about a realistic experience a lot of people face while dating and going through break ups.

How many times do you know of a couple that breaks up because they start neglecting the other because a lot of change is happening and they aren’t mature enough to actually have an honest communication with each other about how they are feeling without a lot of emotions coming through as the response. Those emotions could be as simple as crying, anger or even shutting down but they happen.

How often do you see a couple break up after years of being together and 1 stays single and the other moves on quickly. I know a lot of people always say that the one who moves on quickly was a cheater but that’s not always the case. Sometimes they just don’t know how to heal themselves without having someone else there to help them heal and forget their previous relationship which isn’t healthy at all.

Bailey I applaud you for writing about your dating experience as well as being real honest about what a lot of people face in their own dating experiences/break ups. They are messy and hard and people get hurt. I honestly couldn’t have imagined a better representation of real raw honesty on how people act in this situation than how you wrote it. I look forward to your other books!

This book is beautifully written, diving deep into the struggles of relationships and how easily comfort can blur into toxicity. At first, I wanted to root for Hailey and Logan, but their lack of communication and constant misinterpretations made it hard. They always assumed the worst of each other, and it was heartbreaking to watch them fall into the same patterns again and again.

I kept wishing they would open up and truly listen to each other. By the end, I wasn’t surprised they couldn’t work through their issues, but it still left me sad, especially for Hailey. Logan just wasn’t it for me, and I found myself hoping she’d find someone who truly values her.

What I loved most was Hailey’s personal journey. Watching her slowly grow, realize her worth, and choose herself made this story more than just a romance. It’s not really a love story. It’s a story about self-discovery, strength, and the importance of never settling. Relationships are hard, but your happiness and self-respect should never be compromised.

Don’t stay with someone who doesn’t respect you or see the good you bring. Choose yourself, always.

Hailey Rose and Logan Tate have been dating for six years, yet somehow, their communication skills haven’t quite developed. No matter how much time passes, they are rarely on the same page. Still, Hailey is happy and ready to take the next step—while Logan has come to a very different conclusion.

There isn’t a single person out there who hasn’t either experienced or witnessed this kind of relationship. The spark fizzles, but they stay together out of comfort and, quite frankly, convenience.

Bailey’s writing is beautiful, and I loved how she used dual POV to highlight their vastly different perspectives. A simple date night could be magical for one and miserable for the other, and watching that dynamic play out was fascinating.

The characters feel real, flaws and all, though Logan…dude, real estate’s not your calling. Sorry, not sorry! 🤣

Overall, I enjoyed this and can’t wait to dive into more of her work.

To be honest, I didn’t dislike the book, but the back-and-forth between Logan and Hailey really made it hard for me to stay engaged. Their relationship felt like it was based more on history than genuine connection. Logan’s mom already disapproved of Hailey, he was giving her false hope, and on top of that, Logan had some narcissistic tendencies that didn’t sit well with me. The whole ex-girlfriend drama also added an extra layer of frustration. The story felt a bit immature at times, but there was a positive takeaway: it highlighted how some relationships persist not because of love, but because people don’t know any better or are afraid to move on. I appreciated that perspective.

This was my first book by Bailey Thomas, so I can’t make a definitive judgment, but I did find the writing easy to follow and relatable in a modern-day context. As a girl’s girl, I’m rooting for Bailey Thomas and look forward to seeing how her writing style continues to evolve.

✨️BOOK REVIEW✨️

You Should've Just Let Me Go by Bailey Thomas was by far the realest depiction of how a break up after a long-term relationship truly feels.

I love that the book is written in dual POV, so we get to experience how both MCs Logan and Hailey felt during the weeks leading up to and the months after their break up.

I felt so many emotions while reading this novel. For being fiction, it made me feel so many different emotions, angry, sad, downright pissed at times.

I did feel like the ending was just rushed and, therefore, a little lackluster for me, but I am happy to read that FMC Hailey has finally learned to love herself more than her feelings towards Logan.

Overall, I did enjoy Bailey's second self-published book.

Omg the way I wanted to punch Logan with how he said “I know it causes an argument between us but I’m okay with fighting about this with you if it means I get to have a friendship with her”. Let me just say that if any man ever said that to me, that would be the last argument. I binged this book in one sitting. Both Logan and Hailey are very flawed characters that at times are living in their own reality. It was great to see a story about a relationship that isn’t always perfect and truly has plenty doubts. They are both career driven and sometimes they don’t have enough time to spend on their relationship. I must say this book really brought out a few emotions in me. I rate it 4 stars and look forward to reading more from this author.

You Should’ve Just Let Me Go” is a deeply moving and thought-provoking piece that captures raw emotion with striking honesty. The title itself sets the tone, haunting, vulnerable, and unapologetically direct. What stands out most is the way it balances pain with beauty; every line feels intentional, pulling the audience into an intimate reflection on love, loss, and the courage it takes to walk away. The storytelling is both poetic and powerful, leaving a lingering echo long after the final word. It’s the kind of work that doesn’t just speak to you in the moment; it stays with you, challenging you to revisit your own memories and truths. Bold, heartbreaking, and unforgettable, “You Should’ve Just Let Me Go” is a masterful expression of emotion that deserves recognition.”

Relatable and so Real - loved every minute

I read this in a day, because I couldn't get over the emotions and perspectives written in this story. Truly good examples of both co-dependency and self love, and I adored every bit. The book was written from two perspectives, and captured so well how people can perceive the same situation so differently. Definitely thought provoking.

A beautiful story of growth. Hailey and Logan are both intensely reliable and real characters that make it easy for readers to follow and sympathize with.

I 100% recommend this to everyone. Heart wrenching, no spice , and an easy read

Hailey is such a character, the development of herself is so nice to see, not needing to rely on anyone like she thought, and finding herself the further into the book we got.. loved that!

Logan… well hun you were a twat straight from the get go. I’m glad you realised how you fucked everything for yourself you giant tit.

Gutted that Dalton and piper weren’t in the book more, I did think something would have potentially happened between Dalton and Hailey with the way they act around each other but hey ho. Nice way to end a story with Hailey been in a good headspace and developing as she did ❤️

Bailey Thomas delivers an emotional, heartfelt story about love, letting go, and the weight of unspoken truths. You Should’ve Just Let Me Go takes a raw look at complicated relationships — the push and pull between holding on and finding freedom.

The writing is engaging and accessible, making the characters feel real and deeply relatable. At times frustrating, at times tender, the story captures the messy, human side of romance and closure. It’s about self-worth, heartbreak, and the courage it takes to walk away when something no longer serves you.

A perfect read for fans of contemporary romance with depth, drama, and plenty of emotional pull.

overall 3.5 stars!!

I enjoyed this book a lot more than the first one by Bailey Thomas. I appreciated that the FMC found herself through her struggles in the relationship she was currently in. Knowing she deserved better than to settle. Yes the breakup was hard on her of course it would be. But instead of moving on quickly like her ex she excelled at being with herself first. Which is huge. Really enjoyed the dual POV from both FMC & MMC. I’m glad that the guy got what he deserved in the end. Karma they say do be a b!

I really enjoyed this book and just like her debut novel, this book had me gripped. It follows Hailey and Logan who have been together for six years, and the cracks in the relationship are definitely beginning to show. Hailey wants to settle down, whilst Logan is very career driven. The chapters alternate between Hailey and Logan and you can see the difference in their thoughts about the relationship and where it will go. Is their love for each other enough, or should they just let each other go?

breakup but no make-up

This book had a lot of good self-growth points but it was kind of just... sad? Not even sure how to put it. There was some self-discovery but not enough character growth that I felt it worth it. It ended up with no happily ever after and a lot of hurt that could have been avoided, without a lot of growth in the depth of the main characters. If you enjoy self-growth and break-up stories then you'd like it, but I'm more of a self growth, do the hard work and happily ever after kinda girl.

3⭐️This was my first book by Bailey Thomas, I wouldn’t say I disliked the book- the story addresses realistic issues in relationships of today’s society- but the characters.. I absolutely hated. I understand they were young and thought they were in love, but as a 23 year old myself, I’d expect that kind of behaviour from a teenager. But I’m not one to judge, I’m just happy they didn’t get back together!

Ps. I will definitely be up for reading her other books, I liked how this book was an quick and easy read:)

The thing about a romance book/story is that some are dreamy, gives you hope, yet this story hits close to home in so many levels. It’s not unrealistic and it’s the perfect example on how each individual perceives one another in moments where they become blindside overtime. You are able to not only read her point of view, but also his point of view leading up to the very end of this story. Bailey Thomas got me with this one.

A light, easy read that captures the drama of young love and questioning if you're with the right person. We’ve all been there, right?!

There were times my age showed and I had to remind myself these characters were in their early 20s, and their reactions were fitting.

While I enjoy younger protagonists, I missed a certain level of emotional intelligence. Still, it was a quick, entertaining read.

I was definitely thoroughly entertained by these two toxic people that’s for sure, I was just hoping to see where certain storylines went to when they were presented to us. Why was Dalton the bestfriend always flirting? How come they didn’t stay friends and show up at the party or the wedding? that would have definitely added more drama lol
I just feel like when the book was finished it felt unfinished, like i was waiting for something else to happen?
