Another fantastic read from Ms. Jesberger! Fans of the Alainnshire series will not be disappointed in this final book of the trilogy. We've been waiting a long time to bring the stories together, but it has been well worth the wait.
King Bryce is desperate to bring some happiness and fun to the kingdom of Arianrhod. He invites Aislin to bring Tristan, baby Adric, Colven and Faron to come back for the markets that Aislin used to love. The invites go to all the surrounding kingdoms, including one to Sweetwood, if to no where else in Morrigan. Thus we have the perfect set up for Aislin, Cara and Emara to finally come face to face and weave their pasts, presents and futures together. Of course in the fashion we have become accustomed to by this fabulous author, it certainly doesn't come together that simply, and it, of course, isn't a simple happily ever after from that point on.
Unfortunately, Boru has managed to plant spies in Arianrhod, and though he allows the market to go on in the splendid fashion Bryce dreamed of, he spins his sinister web again shortly thereafter. It is so hard to review this book without dipping into spoiler territory, but you will be on the edge of your seat from start to finish. All of the characters and their relationships are so wonderfully portrayed. There is one new character in particular who captured my heart that I don't feel like I can tell you about without going way too far into spoilers, but the review would be incomplete without at least mentioning Kiah. Tiernan is another interesting addition worthy of note.
I continually marvel at the artistry of S. L.'s imagination and her ability to put these magical lands and characters in into words that draw such vivid pictures for us mere mortal readers. Even in the darkest of situations, there is a beauty in the descriptions and the surprises hidden within.
By nature, I am not a fan of fantasy, but if all fantasy writers were anything like Ms. Jesberger, I would have to change my mind. I highly recommend the entire series, and this was a most satisfying way to wrap up the trilogy (although I certainly wouldn't mind another trip to Alainnshire at some point in the future.) The only possible complaint I could come up with if I really wracked my mind was that we didn't get to see quite enough of Artur in this one! :-)
I was thrilled to receive a free copy of this book in order to be a beta reader, and would be more than pleased to beta read for her again at any time in the future. I would also be more than happy to putty money where my...um, fingers are, and pay full price for this any any other work by this author because her writer's voice has completely enchanted me.
