(Military Gay For You Romance)

Jake Turner is straight - or so he thinks. When he meets the gorgeous William Steel at basic training, he develops a whole load of strange feelings and emotions he doesn't quite understand.

From the very first roll call Jake knew William was different, there was just something about him. After a tough day of exercises the whole unit heads to the showers, and when Jake spots William showering across from him his manhood springs to life. He can't explain these desires - was he gay?

Jake tries to keep his distance from William, not wanting to stir up any feelings - coming out as gay in the military would make his time there very difficult. But when the two are paired together for an overnight training exercise, he has no choice but to face his feelings.

Stationed together in a abandoned wooden hut, with only their body warmth to keep away the cold, Jake will discover exactly what he will do 'For Him'....

This wasn't very impressive. The writing wasn't very seasoned. There were a lot of misspellings and grammatical errors. It was also pretty naive about boot camp. It's pretty aggressive and the author didn't really portray the setting very well. Oh well. It was entertaining nonetheless.

3.5 stars. Hour read. Short story set in boot camp. The simple plot brings Jake and William together. Single point of view of Jake's experience, told from a more juvenile perspective than I'd expect.

William Steel is the most masculine name Jake has ever heard? And he looks at him while lined up for the first time in boot camp? “But I’m straight.”

Steel sensed that Jake hesitated in responding to his name and also looked out from the line to see him? While the entire line was being watched?

Jake realizes from one glance that they have a bond.

This is bad and that’s where I stopped 7%.

I can only guess that somehow they’ll find the time to hookup during boot camp and I’m not there for it. If this took place after they got their assignments it would be one thing. In boot camp? Not buying it.

A nice romantic short of self discovery when two men, Jake and William meet in basic training. Being gay in the military isn't easy and despite trying to distance himself from William Jake is still drawn to him in ways he doesn't yet understand. An overnight training exercise sees the two men paired together and what a night it is as they discover their mutual attraction.

I liked it, although the story finished when I thought it was only beginning.

Now here we have the classic "I'm straight but it doesn't take much convincing" trope...

The MC joins the military, says he is straight but immediately has the hots for a guy and, on their very first overnight training mission, decides that he would do anything "for him".

The story is okay, the writing is okay, the spice is okay; I do hope that the rest of the series does more.

Got this FREE on AMAZON. This is a book but into parts. I might read the rest of the series of they in a bundle deal, or free.

If you like quick, unrealistic, sappy, insta-love-sex, then this is the book for you.

I was very disappointed. I know it is a short story, but I expected it to be fast-paced, witty, and full of action. Especially since it is supposed to be set in a military boot camp. Instead all It was insta-dreamy-love and lots of stomach-churning over dramatic emotions.

There was barely any dialogue. and I mean BARELY ANY TALKING. I couldn't connect to any character because no one spoke. It was almost like a silent film , but in a book. He talks about his squad mates are around him training and having lunch, yet never talks to them or about them. Because in his world, only him and William exist. I wished it was so much more. I wanted kick ass fighting scenes, and gruff man talk.

It was fine. Very quick read. Good for when you want to relax. Or if you're falling behind in your GoodReads Goal.

Simplistic but full of grammatical errors

This was an okay story, nothing really revolutionary about it though. It followed the basic guidelines of writing a story and it read like an assignment from Creative Writing 101.

I felt like all the descriptions of military manoeuvres was over done and it should have contained more emotions that Jake was going through. I thought that having William's viewpoint included would have been much better than just a constant list of Jake's insecurities and his inconsistent conflict with the protagonist, Jared.

The best part was when I thought they were going to get caught during War Games, that was suspenseful. And I thought Jared mentioning that the Leaders putting William and Jake together was their version of a love match was interesting. There was something there that should have been explored, it could have turned this story into a book with a genuine concept behind it.

Other than that this story felt generic and with all the grammatical errors it was just okay.

Oh dear. There's some promise of talent here, but it was flat. Everything was flat. Flat dialogue, characters, scene setting, sex...all flat and all blah. Maybe it was because it was so short, but I can't help but think that's no excuse. There are some great short stories out there that manage to make the story spring to life. This one, I'm afraid, never breathed its first breath and died horribly under the burden of cliches and stereotypes. It's a shame, because as I say, the author is not without talent. There is a style to Chad Lane's writing that is engaging and accessible, but this story just didn't work at all.

Military M/M romance with a gay-for-you theme.
Jake Turner likes girls, but when he enlists into the Army and meets the sexy smart William Steel at basic training, Jake has to rethink who he is. Although this isn't so surprising as they are both just out of high school and are just figuring out what 'normal' is for them.
Very short and vanilla sexy time which makes sense because they don't ever have any alone time. Cute short story and I would have liked more character development because a HEA doesn't look possible for these young men.

So, this one is short, and I feel like there should be more to it. It's interesting. A lot of research clearly went into military training. It's always interesting to read these types of stories. At least this one didn't seem horribly realistic. I just find myself wanting to know more about the couple at the end. I would love to see what happens to these two down the line when they're further in their careers. Still, it's a well written short piece.

I loved this. I've read other Chad Lane books and this one is just as good. I'm becoming a real fan. There's absolutely no scrimping on plot/character/emotion. And thank god it's not all about the sex either. I love the journey in this book. I just wish it had been a billion times longer. I could read about these two forever.

Great action, on and off the battlefield.

Really hot

This attraction shared between William and Jake felt so real and exciting to explore. There really isn't any boundaries when two people feel that same pull of attraction, male or female. You are who you are and love who ever it is your meant to love. when you see it that way, then you realize how beautiful it is.

This was a very short, but sweet boot camp encounter. I would have loved more of these two MC's. I felt like the author just teased me with the beginning of what could have been very hot 5 star romance. Instead it was 3.5 sweet read, with a few editing errors. The writing was pretty good. I'll keep my eye out for future novel length works by this author.

An Entertaining Back Short Read!

Wow! For such a short story I was impressed. The story was very well written, the erotic scene didn't take over the story, and even though I was wanting to read more of what Jake and William would go through in basic, I was happily satisfied with the ending. Great short read!

Man I need to stop being sucked into freebies.

So this something I read through quickly while enjoying the first day this summer that the weather was actually great. And it was good but damn, I hadn't realized it's a part of a series. Not sure if I'd buy the sequel(s) if I wasn't so curious though. But since I am, that's what I'll do.

Short, sweet and not much story, but the characters were likable and it was perfect for an 'in between' read. Getting to know the characters a little bit better and spending some more time with them would have been nice though. *sigh*

Simplistic, formulaic, one dimensional, boring. I've never had to push myself to finish a short story before.

The tenth time the MC asked himself, "why am I so attracted to William?" I wanted to punch him in the face.

Apart from a few typos, punctuation errors and extra 'that's,' and missing words, I really enjoyed this story. It was deep, meaningful, emotional and heartfelt. I loved the way Jake and William worked together and connected. It wasn't too short nor too long. Five stars!

Maybe It's Mutual

This was a quick read about first attraction. It must be scary to be attracted to another serviceman under DADT plus knowing that you can and would be harassed by your other bunk mates. Enjoy I did.

A cute short. There wasn't much to this one. There were some inaccuracies and other writing problems. I do wish it had been a little less cuties and more rough and tough.
