Mason only knows one way to fight – to the bitter end.

Army veteran Mason Sharpe is finally enjoying some peace and quiet. Sleepy days full of good music, better barbeque, and lazy rides on his motorcycle.

But then he sees three burly men beating on a kid and knows he has to step in.

The kid, Spencer, is obsessed with the idea of winning big money at an underground fight club – he desperately needs the cash to fund a life-saving operation for his little sister.

Mason takes one look at Spencer and strongly advises against getting into the ring.

But Spencer doesn’t listen and signs up to fight anyway. Badly injured, he ends up in a hospital – just another victim of the brutal motorcycle gang who run the fight club.

Mason can see they’re taking advantage of Spencer, using him as cannon fodder. He thinks maybe he can win the money for Spencer’s kid sister – and rain down a little pain on the bikers while he’s at it.

So Mason climbs into the ring – and sets off an escalating war with the vicious biker gang. A war that can only end one way – Knock Out.

Knock Out – book 8 of the exciting Mason Sharpe action thriller series. Perfect for fans of Lee Child, Jason Kasper and David Archer.

I am finally caught up on this series about Mason Sharpe. Knock Out is the 8th book by Logan Ryles and number 9 is out the 8th of December and it's already on my tbr pile as an arc. This time Mason stumbles upon some underground fighting and a kid that thinks he can make some quick bucks fighting. This in turn leads to a really sinister crime syndicate, I will not delve further into this you'll have to read it yourself and hopefully enjoy it as much as I did.

A pulse-pounding thriller that is so hard to put down, Knock Out is another great addition to the Mason Sharpe series.

This time around, Mason gets embroiled in an illegal fight club run by a vicious biker gang and finds himself unravelling a larger criminal organisation with sinister intentions.

There is action-galore and as always it's a great ride as we join Mason pulling apart the network of bad guys whilst seeking justice for those not able to do so themselves.

I loved the pacing of this book - it doesn't really let up - and the conclusion is a good one, though for me not quite as satisfying as previous books in this series. There's still so much to like though and this series keeps on giving!

Huge thanks to Inkubator Books and NetGalley for an ARC of this book!

disappointed with mason

Mason plays such a chump, it’s getting stupid. He’s supposedly ex special forces, but after the head of the biker gang forces him into fighting the ‘gauntlet’, to get his money back, which he wins, the biker walks him out the back door without paying him. He knew it was happening and he did nothing. Then Mason stands toe to toe with him while he mocks Mason for falling for it and basically telling him to leave town.. An untrained gym big Biker standing toe to toe with a special forces operator who does nothing?? In any other book, with any other operator, the biker would of been close to death and the operator would still have walked away afterwards with the other guys gun in his hand. Then as Mason ‘corrects’ the situation, he maps out all the illegal drug activity, stash houses, and prostitution rings and calls it into the cops and he knows there are corrupt judges and prosecutors??? How dumb. So he is okay committing arson, but not okay to walk into an unguarded stash house and take the money he’s owed for winning the fight and for the kid they put in the hospital who already stole ur 10k..Mason could have robbed the first stash house and taken the money owed to him from the fight, and still told the biker guy what he did and what he was still going to do if the guy didn’t pay what he owed and the book could of continued from there as written, without Mason turning into a joke. Ahhh but then u hit the bigger dumb part, Mason has the laptop exposing everything, that would send the 60yr old head guy and everyone beneath him to prison for life. So the 60yr old leader kidnaps some FBI agent Mason met 10 minutes ago who now gets sloppy and gets exposed after 2yrs undercover and he threatens a bunch of random people Mason had known for 2 months, and Mason drops everything to save the girl. Great, but they need the laptop, more than anything, and Mason lets them call the shots?? Mason is alone on a bridge, the girl is tied up and pushed against the railing with a gun in her guts and it’s 5 on 1, biker “did u bring the laptop?” Mason, “Yeah, it’s right here” …how about, “No. I’ll tell u where I left it when u let her go”…regular common sense stuff…(as I write this I realize how badly this book was written)…Better scenario, (how Reacher would have done it) When the 60yr old told him where to meet, Reacher would of agreed and then just went to the 60 year old guys house knowing it was unexpected and probably unguarded and just killed him. Or tied him up to watch. Then sat there and waited for the biker, to return with the girl, who he can’t hurt until he gets the laptop. So if Mason never shows to the meeting, the Biker will obviously just go back to his bosses house with the girl still unharmed for further instructions….just a sad attempt from whom I expected better. Another example of good series that just get worse with every new book. Lee Child’s “Reacher” (pre Andrew Child taking over) is still the only series/character who stays consistent and true to form from book 1 through 20 without devolving into insulting drivel. Actually, u can add Harry Bouer as the other..and character Alex Mason a distant 3rd.

I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC copy of another exciting book by Logan Ryles. Many thanks go out to the author, his publisher (Inkubator Books), and the fine folks at Booksprout for granting me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review. This book, due to be published on 20 October 2024, is the eighth venture into the Mason Sharpe universe by Logan Ryles.

Our protagonist, Mason Sharpe, a former US Army Ranger and Phoenix Police Department homicide detective, whose fiancé, Mia, was a teacher who was killed in a school shooting. Since that time, he nearly killed himself, before traveling by car (and motorcycle - a mode of transportation that plays prominently in this book) to different states and risking his life while becoming involved with people who need the help that his skills provide, even if they do not want it.

Army veteran Mason Sharpe is finally enjoying some peace and quiet, as he has found an idyllic place to lay his head in a rural campground (Purple Creek Campground) nestled along the banks of the Mississippi River, where he spends his sleepy days full of good music, better barbeque, and lazy rides on his motorcycle.

One night while out on one of his lazy rides, he comes across three burly men beating on a kid and knows he has to step in. Utilizing the skills that were drilled into him in the military, Sharpe is able the defeat the three burly men and asks the kid the story behind the attack.

The kid, Spencer, is obsessed with the idea of winning big money at an underground fight club – he desperately needs the cash to fund a life-saving operation for his little sister and experimental cancer treatments for his mother in Germany.

Mason takes one look at Spencer and strongly advises against getting into the ring.

But Spencer doesn’t listen and signs up to fight anyway. Badly injured, he ends up in a hospital – just another victim of the brutal motorcycle gang, Gateway Hounds, who runs the fight club.

After making his way through the gauntlet (winning five fights in a row), our protagonist discovers that he now faces an organization with deeper intentions than first appearances provide. He soon discovers that even after surviving the gauntlet, the criminal organization has no plans to pay out his bounty. Sharpe begins to investigate the organization further and wreaks his revenge by taking out some of the facets of this criminal enterprise - made through illegal activities such as drug and people trafficking, gambling, and prostitution.

As he continues his struggles against the Gateway Hounds, he stumbles across an undercover FBI agent who is intent on bringing down this gang as well, only to find her attempts foiled as the gang has its tendrils wrapped up in corrupt judges, prosecutors, and local police officers. This errant discovery leads to a pairing that goes to war in a combined effort against the gang leading to a war. A war that can only end one way – Knock Out.

Ryles excels in creating intense, fast-paced drama filled with suspense and high-stakes action. Mason Sharpe is a compelling protagonist, deeply wounded yet driven by loyalty and justice. The plot unfolds with a perfect pacing, leading to a satisfying and explosive conclusion.

On a five-star scale, I would easily give Logan Ryle's latest venture an easy four stars based solely on the action and adventure, and I believe that it would be a definite favourite for fans of Lee Child, Jason Kasper, and David Archer.

As with all my literary ramblings, this is just my five cents worth.

Knock Out by Logan Ryles
Mason Sharpe #8

Fast-paced, action-packed, thrill-ride from beginning to end ~ I had not read previous books in the series but had no trouble getting into the story and following it throughout. There might have been previous stories that would have fleshed Mason’s character out more but enough was there to be fine without it.

What I liked:
* Mason Sharpe: ex-military, ex-police detective, lost his fiancée in the past and is still carrying that pain, strong, intelligent, puzzle solver, stands up for the underdog, always gets back up, not invincible, suffers as humans do, a good man, learning and growing as he moves through life
* Riley Vaughn: FBI agent under cover, younger sister was murdered brutally, skilled motorcycle rider, still grieving, works well with Mason once they start working the case together
* Spencer Meyers: loves his family, trying to provide for his sister who has cancer, supporting of his sister and mother, makes some poor decisions for the right reasons
* The action scenes and that people did get hurt even though they were the good guys
* That I was smarter than mason and Riley in figuring out what the Gateway Hounds and their boss were up to before Mason and Riley figured it out
* That the bad guys were dealt with
* Wondering where Mason will end up next

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Being a bit surprised by the mention of the Bible in more than one place in the book
* Thinking about the loss of innocent lives
* Thinking about how evil some people are and what they are willing to do for their own gain

Did I like this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Perhaps

Thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Once again, Mason Sharpe is a magnet for trouble no matter where he shows his face. Not able to walk away when he encounters thugs picking on a young man, and even after discovering the kid has taken him for a ride, Mason's empathy wins out when he finds a whole criminal enterprise that needs to be taken down. If there's one man that can do it - with a little help from an undercover FBI agent this time - it's Mason Sharpe.

Along the way, Sharpe gets his share of lumps and bumps, and finds himself in life-threating situations that kept me on the edge of my seat. He may get knocked down, but never knocked out. Even against all odds, he's not a man to give up until justice has been served.

This is another thrilling adventure in this ongoing series. Will Sharpe ever settle down for a little while and lead a "normal" life? As long as Ryles keeps finding new places with criminals needing to be put in their place, it sure doesn't look likely. Meanwhile, I'm looking forward to the next stop on the Mason Sharpe tour!

I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This story begins with Mason finding 3 individuals beating up on another boy. Mason steps up and gets involved. The 3 once defeated leave and Mason takes Spencer to where he is staying to fix him up. Unfortunately for Mason, this winds up being a bad idea. Mason leaves and upon returning discovers something is missing. Mason figures out where Spencer has gone abd upon arriving, Spence is being placed in an ambulance. Mason then works to find out what happened. In the end Mason winds up being taken as a fool. Mason vows to get even.

Read along and discover what steps Mason takes to get even and how his actions result in danger to both him and an undercover FBI agent.

The ending will keep you glued to the action as he finally tries to finish the job.

The ending for the book is unexpectd, and you won't be disappointed. Get this book, it's well worth it!

I had a lot of expectations for this book and was carried away by the reviews of other books in this series. However, the reality is that this book is a total letdown. The storyline is very thin and quite a stretch of one’s imagination. There is a lot of action, encounters with a bike gang, cheating and somewhere in the middle of the boo an undercover FBI agent is introduced to add some substance to the story. The agent has a personal agenda of infiltrating and taking down a group of criminals because she lost her sister and wants to bring them down. After much action, all the members are killed and the hero walks to the sunset. The only redeeming feature of the book is the description of the bikes. The author seems to know them very well; these are the book's only redeeming parts. So also the final act at the dam. That’s the only reason I have given this book two stars.

This is probably my favourite of the series so far. I would recommend anyone who likes action thrillers that move along at a good pace read this series. I very much doubt you will be disappointed. Mr Ryles is my kind of writer for this genre. Mason has a soft heart to the needy and helpless but still a dangerous man. Straight into action from the first line and helping someone as usual out of a tight spot. He has a driving need to seek Justice and has a never say die attitude till he gets it.
I do hope the Author keeps writing many more books in this series as I am already waiting to read the first line in the next book.

Action thriller series continues to provide great entertainment! This time we find Mason living in a trailer and riding a motorcycle as his truck is being refurbished in St. Louis. When he finds a kid being beaten by a group of thugs, he comes to the rescue, and no good deed goes unpunished. Add in a fight club, a double-cross, an FBI case being run by an undercover agent, corrupt police, judges, and politicians, and missing persons and you’ll get a complex, yet very entertaining, addition to this addictive series. I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher and voluntarily provided an honest review.

There is non-stop action as usual in this eighth instalment in a very enjoyable series. Mason encounters a boy badly beaten and ends up in an illegal boxing club.In his quest to help the boy, he encounters a biker gang which seems to also be involved in drugs and much worse. They set out to hurt him and he responds in kind, kicking off a high octane thrilling read that leads to some incredible scenes towards the end.

I now need to get my breath back as Mason heads north to see what lies in wait for him there.

Mason doesn't even leave the country for this one. His leisurely time comes to an abrupt end when he goes to the aid of a teenager, Spencer, who is being beaten by 3 motorcycle thugs. Spencer was trying to show he could fight to hopefully be allowed to fight in an illicit boxing match where the prize was $100,000. Naturally, Mason ends up doing the fight and winning. only to have the owner renege. He should have paid up. You already know the kind of havac Sharpe can dispense when he is crossed, and boy did he ever. But that was just the tip of the iceberg. What he uncovers in the process is much more sinister and deadly. This is a book you will not want to put down until the very last page.

In this action packed thriller, we meet Mason Sharpe, ex-Army Ranger, ex-Phoenix police detective with a strong moral compass. He’s a rambler, traveling from one location to another trying to live with the loss of his fiancé. We follow him to St Louis where he faces a fight for his life trying to take down a crooked motorcycle gang.

The author uses descriptive, captivating language to convey fight scenes so real that you can feel the punches and the bullets whizzing by. This is my first Mason Sharpe story but it won’t be my last. I recommend this for all readers and especially Lee Child fans.

For the love of God, if the author reads this, please look up some synonyms for “mashed.” The only thing Mason doesn’t “mash” in this book is potatoes. Try using phrases like “he hit the gas” like a normal person would describe it, or “pressed the button” instead of “mashed the gas,” “mashed the button.” It has become incredibly distracting. Otherwise, this novel was only fair, IMO compared to others in the series. It was lacking some of the richness of background that previous novels had. Also the bad bikers has become kind of cliche. Overall, an entertaining read save all the mashing.

Book #8 in the excellent Mason Sharpe thriller series. This type of thriller is my favorite read. Jack Reacher, Colter Shaw, Joe Pickett, Kay Scarpetta, all these and more with Mason Sharpe in good company. A lone ex-soldier, ex-lawman trying to find peace as he rights wrongs along the way, Sharpe takes on all comers. This was a quick read for me, because it's fast paced and a great plot. If you've not read this series, this is your chance. Plan a binge weekend and catch up.

Book 8 in this series is just a good as the first and I highly recommend the entire series. Mason Sharpe, Army Veteran is enjoying some downtime. Relaxing time to do what he wants, or so he thinks. Mason steps in to rescue Spencer, a kid who decided to do underground fighting to get money to pay for an operation his sister needs to save her life. Spencer winds up getting really hurt in the fight so Mason decided he needs to step into the ring to save them both.

Logan Rules is a favorite writer. His main character is a veteran and former police officer whose fiancé was killed in a school shooting. In the aftermath, he wanders the country and encounters people taking advantage of others. He takes on their fights and brings justice with fists, a gun and usually police help. He never stays in one place long. Home is his camper truck. Can't wait for the next Mason
Sharpe adventure.

Knock Out

Knock Out is an exciting adventure story of a former police officer from Phoenix
Arizona. He is drifting through the mid west when he runs into a gang that is making money through illegal means. The book is well written and his action packed and very exciting to read. I especially enjoyed the latter part of the book on that described city, Missouri, and the damn that generates power for the area.

Whenever this author releases a new book, I book the day off and settle in because I know it is going to be an adventure. Fist fights, shoot outs, motorbike chases and the mystery of missing people kept me glued to the pages. Add in a kick ass female character who fights along side Mason. What a ride!

High Octane Thriller! Mason Sharpe doesn't look for trouble it always finds him this time it comes in the form of Spencer a kid getting the snot beat out of him by 3 big men and that doesn't sit well with Mason and it lands him in a underground fight club. I get so caught up in Sharpe's stories every time there always intriguing, action packed, suspenseful and pull you immediately.

Best yet!!!

I've read them all so far and I pray this isn't the last. By far Ryles' best effort. Mason Sharpe is a flawed individual worth rooting for. Even though suffering great personal tragedy, he "always gets back up". Riding off into the sunset in his Jimmie you know he'll be back.

Knock Out by Logan Ryles is the eight book with Mason Sharpe as the lead character.
Sharpe is finally enjoying some much needed down time but this all stops when he spots three men beating up a kid in an alleyway. Sharpe sends the attackers on their way, and then patches up the kid, Spencer.

Spencer has set his target on earning some "quick" cash, by winning big money at an underground fight club. The fight club is run by a biker gang and Sharpe soon finds himself in a bit of a predicament..

Personally I wasn't keen on the fight club element, but it's Mason Sharpe so it is still a book well worth reading!

All Cylinders

With this book, author Ryles has the Mason Sharpe series firing on all cylinders. Action starts immediately, the enemy is identified and the novel rockets along. Clues to the mystery are revealed with skillful plotting and there are only a few lines of clunky dialogue. Excellent thriller.

Fast paced and gripping. Although , the medical process is little overstretched and not believable( Cant describe in full to reveal the suspense). Similarly , the concept of hero physically fighting and moving around with bullet injury is little far fetched. The body system will break down. It looks like the author has not been severely injured to realise the incapacitation.

This is a very fast action book, with very realistic fights. The main character is a little slow in solving the mystery, but I guess he hasn't read as many books as I have. He also gets very stupid in his tactics, so that's a bit out of character. But this is a very fast and entertaining book.
