Rate this book
"I pushed Brooke's body off the bridge in the dark of night. Ten years later, I would meet her for the first time."
That is how it begins. Not with an explanation - with a crime. And a mystery that crosses infinite worlds.
Physicist Brooke Adims has spent a decade chasing a discovery that should be impossible. Deputy Minister of Science Maximillion Nilson is fleeing a theocracy that will kill him to preserve its grip on power. And an Archbishop will stop at nothing to destroy what Brooke has found, because the truth it reveals could unmake his entire faith.
What they all have in common: the Nexus.
A hidden threshold that allows travel between parallel Earths. And the most dangerous discovery in the history of every universe that has ever existed.
Because something is using the Nexus too. Something that wants all of creation to end.
Eternity's Shadow is a fast-paced, emotionally layered multiverse thriller that blends hard science fiction with political intrigue, guilt, redemption, and the question of whether the choices we make define us across every version of reality we might have lived.
Fans of Blake Crouch's Dark Matter, Isaac Asimov's Foundation, and The Space Between Worlds will find a gripping, thought-provoking read that does not let go.
Book 1 of the Shadow Trilogy. Book 2, Pandora's Shadow, is coming soon.

From the very first line"I pushed Brooke’s body off the bridge..."Eternity’s Shadow grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go. I went into this book expecting a sci-fi thriller, but what I found was something deeper, darker, and far more emotionally layered.

At its core, this is a story about guilt and redemption wrapped inside a high-stakes, multiversal chase. The protagonist’s internal turmoil is just as gripping as the external chaos he’s thrown into. That initial act of violence isn’t just shock value it becomes the emotional thread pulling us through a maze of alternate realities, each more twisted and unpredictable than the last.

Brooke, in particular, stood out to me. She’s not just some mysterious figure or emotional crutchshe’s an anchor, a compass, and at times, a terrifying force in her own right. The way Canton writes her so enigmatic, yet somehow familiar makes her feel like both guide and ghost.

The Nexus itself is stunningly realized. Canton clearly has a talent for world-building, but what impressed me most was how it never slowed the story down. Every new layer of reality introduced new threats, new ethical dilemmas, and yet it never felt convoluted. The pace is relentless, but purposeful. I kept telling myself “just one more chapter,” and before I knew it, it was 3 a.m.

What really stayed with me, though, was the emotional weight. This isn't just a cool sci-fi premise it's a meditation on the choices we make, the versions of ourselves we leave behind, and whether we can ever truly outrun the consequences of our actions.

If I had to nitpick, I'd say a few scenes in the middle felt slightly rushed, especially when some of the alternate realities were so rich they could have used a bit more breathing room. But honestly, that’s a small quibble in an otherwise exceptional book.

Eternity’s Shadow is a haunting, fast-paced, and deeply human journey through the multiverse. If you like your speculative fiction with a heavy dose of heart and a few mind-bending twists you won’t want to miss this one.

This gripping, genre-blending tale kicks off with a haunting confession—“I pushed Brooke’s body off the bridge…”—and only accelerates from there. What follows is a thrilling plunge into alternate realities, where danger lurks across universes and trust is a matter of survival.

The narrative is emotionally charged and richly imaginative, weaving themes of guilt, redemption, and cosmic stakes. Brooke is a mysterious, compelling guide through the Nexus—a place as fascinating as it is perilous. With high tension, fast pacing, and jaw-dropping twists, this book is perfect for fans of sci-fi, dark fantasy, and apocalyptic intrigue.

An unforgettable ride through the multiverse—ambitious, intense, and wholly original.

This book shouldn’t work, a protagonist who opens by admitting murder? Yet Canton makes it compelling. The multiverse-hopping is inventive (doorways to dying worlds, cosmic destroyers), and Brooke’s cold pragmatism always do what I tell you raises fascinating questions about free will vs. survival. Where it stumbles: the villains feel underdeveloped, and action sequences sometimes blur. But the core themes, redemption across infinite realities, the weight of one dark act linger long after the last page.

Eternity’s Shadow is a gripping journey that pulled me in from the very first page. The concept of the Nexus is both mind-bending and thrilling, and I felt every ounce of Brooke’s determination, Nilson’s desperation, and the Archbishop’s fear of losing control. The stakes couldn’t be higher across parallel Earths, it’s not just about survival, but about the fate of all existence. This book had me holding my breath, questioning faith, power, and science, while being swept into an adventure that felt both vast and deeply personal. A stunning start to the Shadow Trilogy.

This book delivers on atmosphere and character. The lore in Eternity’s Shadow is richly imagined, with just enough mystery to keep me guessing, yet never so obscure that I felt lost. I particularly liked how secondary characters have their own arcs that intertwine meaningfully with the main storyline. Some thematic threads mortality, regret, redemption are handled with a maturity rare in fantasy. That said, a few chapters felt overly expository, slowing momentum. Still, compelling and immersive; I’d recommend this to anyone who enjoys fantasy with weight, not just spectacle.

Absolutely thrilling! The premise of The Nexus is both mind-bending and exhilarating. I loved how the author wove together science, politics, and faith into one high-stakes adventure. Brooke, Maximillion, and the Archbishop each bring such unique perspectives that the conflict feels larger than life, yet very human. This is a page-turner that had me hooked from start to finish.

This book really made me think about how fragile our reality might be. I loved Brooke’s determination as a physicist, and Nilson’s struggle felt so real. The Archbishop as an antagonist added a deep philosophical layer. Sometimes the science went over my head, but it didn’t stop me from enjoying the ride.
