From a grumpy sponge (which just happened to be one of my favorite characters in this novella), an out-of-the-ordinary Count Dracula with a fake tan, undercover British spies, and spiders dressed in football gear, to creatures line-dancing to Bollywood tunes, “Delilah Dusticle’s Transylvanian Adventure” is an action-filled escapade of gigantic proportions!

As with the first book, the characters will find a spot in your heart and stick with you long after you’ve finished reading this charming novella. A fast-paced imaginative tale that will leave you breathless with laughter, this is not only a quick read for kids aged nine and up, but also for adults who haven’t yet lost touch with their inner child.

“Delilah Dusticle’s Transylvanian Adventure” might be a short read that can easily be read in a matter of minutes before bedtime, but it is filled to the brim with thrills, chills and exciting twists that will leave you begging for more!

This was a great sequel. I actually liked this more than the first story because there is a lot of action that will appeal to kids ages 6-10 years old. If you're a little older, you might find how the story unfolds is a little too convenient, but it's meant for younger kids, and they won't mind. This book has lovable characters, an action-packed story and overall I thought it was really cute.

Delilah Dusticle has a special gift: she can wholly and completely eradicate dust.

My immediate thoughts after reading the first sentence: Who is this lady and how do I get her to come to my house?

Several pages later I learn what Count Dracula (no, not THAT Count Dracula) and I have in common: We both wish Delilah Dusticle could come to our homes. Only his reason for wanting her there is somewhat … unorthodox … when taking into an account her line of duty. Good sport that she is, however, Delilah and her Dustbusters get to work, and soon Dracula’s castle is “sparkle”-ready for his annual Hallow Eve Ball.

The team does a fantastic job preparing the castle for the Ball, but when the party begins, Delilah finds herself in a somewhat precarious position.

Friends, who are actually British spies, to the rescue!

It absorbed me like a grumpy sponge soaking up spilled wine
– The characters. What a colorful crew! I really do not want to give anything away by revealing more than I should, but they are a hoot. A hoot!
– The message: Friendship rocks!
– Great balance between comedy and tension.

No amount of wine could redeem this
– Too short. Wait, did I just say that out loud?
– This book is aimed at younger readers, so you really have to take it as such, which means overlooking certain plot holes or the convenience of how things unfold.

Bottom Line
From a Grumpy Sponge to a supremely eccentric Count Dracula with spray-on tan, from kidnapping to undercover British spies, Delilah Dusticle’s Transylvanian Adventure is a superbly whimsical, action-packed tale that will fill your evening with chuckles and giggles.

I was given a copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The sequel to Delilah Dusticle definitely has more action in it, as well as some interesting new characters.
I found myself chuckling a few times, and noticed that I was interested to see what would happen next.
Dracula was interesting, what with his spray tans, red sparkly suit, and cheerful disposition.
We learn more about Delilah herself, namely where her powers come from. I had never wondered about this because the author mentions it so naturally, so I was surprised to be offered an explanation.
I found that the job Delilah's dust company was hired to do by Dracula amusing, it is quite the opposite of cleaning up the castle.
But once the job is completed Delilah is kidnapped.
And here is where the story really picked up. You learn more about some previous characters, and there are many fun surprises along the way to the end of the story.
I enjoyed the chase in the underground tunnels of the castle, it was humorous and enjoyable to read.
The story ends with what I can only describe as a cliff-hangar that will hopefully be answered in the next installment in the series.
There are more characters in this sequel, and they are all different and it is a creative mix with some eccentric personalities.
There was more action and plot in this book than in the first, and it is still an easy and quick read. This story is plain fun and light-hearted.

A great book for young adults. I enjoyed reading it

You can read this review and more on my blog:

I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

What a delightfully strange story! While still short, the second instalment in the Delilah Dusticle series was twice as long as the first and had a lot more adventure. Delilah is no longer, “just a house keeper” and she is learning more and more about what she is capable of doing with her dusters.

This was a very imaginative and enjoyable to read story. The descriptions are so vivid and I think this series would make a wonderful cartoon. I love that spiders and paintings being able to talk is perfectly normal to everyone! The strangest most fantastic element in the book is Delilah’s ability to control dust. I never would have thought of dust control as being an enviable ability, but Delilah can do some very useful and amazing things with dust.

We also learn a lot more about what some of her friends are capable of too. I won’t say who, but a couple of them are exceptionally good at gathering information and sneaking around. Not only do we get to know some of her old friends better, we get to meet a very interesting and famous new friend.

Apparently Delilah is related to Count Dracula, (Yes, that count Dracula) and he has been hearing all about his cousin’s ability to control dust. He is also throwing a yearly party, and he is in need of Delilah’s particular skills to get his house ready for it. This author’s version of count Dracula provided more than a couple of laughs. He was very flamboyant and full of life considering he is supposed to be a member of the undead.

One of the guest at the party turns out to be rather villainous, and it was very entertaining reading about how Delilah and her friends dealt with her.

The messages and themes in these stories are very good ones. It’s all about being the best version of yourself that you possibly can and not worrying about trying to be what you or others think you should be. Delilah could have spent her entire life trying to become an athlete, doctor, or lawyer, and she quite possibly would have been great at all of those things, but she never would have been as good at any of those things as she is with dust. These stories are all about looking for the extraordinary inside of the seemingly ordinary.

This is a great book for parents to read with younger children, and children 10 years and older should enjoy reading it on their own or with a parent. There are some fun illustrations, and the story constantly moves. If you have a child who enjoys reading, this will keep them entertained and teach them a fine lesson all at the same time. The best part is, they will have so much fun while reading, they won’t even realize that they have learned something by the end. ;)

I would recommend this book for ages 10 to 13.

Delilah Dusticle’s Transylvanian Adventure by A.J. York
Series: Book #2: Delilah Dusticle Series
Source: Author
Rating: 4/5 stars

Round two of the Delilah Dusticle series finds Delilah and her best friend Abi up to their ears in cleaning jobs. Opening Dustbusters has proven to be a huge success what with Delilah’s ability to completely eradicate dust and Abi’s top of the line dusters. The girls have a stellar crew that includes: Delilah’s boyfriend and vacuum cleaner fixer, Duncan; the young and somewhat clumsy Billy; the stern and very dependable, Doris and; the large and in charge, Dev. Together, the crew sets up and cleans up some of the finest homes and parties in all of England and their talents are becoming very well-known.

Much to everyone’s surprise, The Dustbusters fame has spread far and wide and so, when they are invited to Transylvania to work a large and fantastical party in a CASTLE, the crew accepts and begins preparations for the long journey. The trip to Count Winifred Dracula’s castle is anything but smooth and once the Dustbuster’s arrive, the weirdness doesn’t stop. Of course the name Dracula is well-known but nothing could have prepared the crew for Winni Dracula – he is loud and jolly and over the top excited to have the Dustbusters in his home. What’s even more surprising is what he wants the Dustbusters to do: to make a mess out of his castle rather than clean it! Clearly confused, Delilah confronts the Count.

Winnie is nothing if not completely honest and he tells Delilah that people expect a certain level of spooky and eerie when attending a Dracula’s party and so, he needs the castle to appear old and dilapidated rather than beautiful, bright and, clean. Oh, and Winnie also tells Delilah that not only can she make her magic happen in reverse but she can do it better than anyone else in the world because she is no ordinary human but, a brownie. Though skeptical, Delilah follows Winnie’s instructions and soon finds that she can work her magic in reverse and before long, the entire crew is working in reverse and the castle is covered in icky ooey dust. Please with their work, the Dustbusters are excited to enjoy the party and they do so right up until the moment Delilah is kidnapped!! Absolute madness ensues as the Dustbusters - with the help of some very surprising allies – scramble to find and rescue Delilah.

The Bottom Line: Delilah’s time in Transylvania is, as the title implies, an adventure. The Dustbusters not only expand their business but meet some very fun and entertaining characters while abroad. Additionally, with this read, York is beginning to offer a few more clues about her characters (Delilah is a BROWNIE!!) and how it is they all have come together. The plot is fun and fast-paced and though this read is longer than the first, it will certainly keep younger readers entertained. In all, I am pleased with this series and looking forward to the next Delilah Dusticle adventure! Installment three: Delilah Dusticle and the Cursed Tempest.

Delightful, lighthearted and funny.

Delilah the dust eradicator is back, and she's received a mysterious invitation from none other than Count W. Dracula. He's getting ready for a big party and neads her team to prepare the castle for his guests. But, when she and her assistants arrive, they're in for a surprise.

Book 2 in this series is fantastic. Where book 1 focuses on Delilah's broken heart and how she gets over it, book 2 picks up after she's figured out who she is and is happy with it. Unlike book 1, which focuses on feelings kids may not be familiar with, this story is definitely something kids would get and enjoy.

The characters and creatures in this book are entertaining and humorous. I love the quirky Grumpy Sponge (which I suspect is represented in the author's profile picture), especially when someone makes him angry. The Count is surprising and his efforts to prepare for the party and fit in to what people expect represent one of the main themes of this book. And, of course, Delilah's special abilities pull everything together.

Unlike the first book where the struggle was mainly internal to Delilah, this one introduces a villain or two and adds an element of danger. These things add to the excitement and make book 2 a page turner. I wish I could say more, but I don't want to spoil any of the book's surprises.

Finally, there are illustrations. I must say that almost every one I came across made me chuckle (or outright laugh) and they all fit perfectly into the part of the story they portray. I still want to know what the ? setting on the elevator does. The illustrator does a fine job of enhancing the story without distracting from it. Also, the pictures show up well on my tablet.

I do have a concern that the "handwritten notes" may not be quite readable on smaller devices or those that do not display illustrations. The notes are pictures, so they cannot be adjusted to the font size the reader prefers. I use a tablet and the longer notes displayed text smaller than the size I was using. Also, if I had been using my Kindle, I'm not certain they would have appeared at all, so I wouldn't have learned the contents of any of the Count's messages. My kindle is a bit of the cheapest one available. Still, on my tablet, they all displayed fine. I'm just concerned that not all readers would be able to see them, and they would be missing out on some important information. The notes, in my opinion, are vital to the storyline.

Overall, I absolutely loved this story. It's fantastic and magical, humorous and whimsical. The characters, major and minor, are entertaining. And the underlying themes of learning to be yourself and love what you have instead of what others have are admirably wrought. I would highly recommend this story to anyone, young or old, who likes a lot of humor, a little mystery, and a bit of magic.

I received a free copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest, non-reciprocal review.

This review and many more over at The Bibliophile Chronicles!

Delilah Dusticle is back! And this time she’s taking her business across the pond, to Transylvania.

Delilah and Abi are now running their very successful Dustbusters company. They clean houses and buildings up and down the country, from wealthy homes, to the castle the queen lives in. When Delilah receives a letter with a desperate plea for her cleaning services, she immediately accepts, and transports her and several other works, to transylvania. When they arrive they learn that Count Dracula is in desperate need of her help. But he does not want Delilah to clean, oh no, the castle is spotless. He needs her help creating layers of dust on every surface, so as to complete the atmosphere for his infamous Halloween ball.

I loved the first Delilah Dusticle book so much I ended up diving right into the second one immediately afterwards. I actually think I ended up preferring this book to the first one. This one is a little longer, so I felt like it gave me the chance to get to know the characters a bit more, and it brought in so many different fantastic elements that it just had me checking online to see when book number three is released. (It’s not up yet, but there’s a sneak preview at the end of Delilah’s Transylvanian Adventure!

Many of the things I would say about this book I have said about book number one – It’s great fun, it’s a perfect read for kids and it has a really intriguing subtle plot. But the thing I really loved about this book was the portrayal of Count Dracula. I love vampire fiction and I have read Bram Stoker’s Dracula many times over the years, but I really loved A.J. York’s modern, whimsical portrayal of him. I absolutely love the idea of Dracula being a neat freak, who doesn't want to wear capes, but wear sparkly suits and dance the night away. It made me laugh a lot.

I also loved the introduction of Baroness Noreen. Who doesn't love a good baddie? She’s fantastic, she springs off the page in all of her self-involved, nasty goodness. I loved the opportunity to get to know the characters better, and find out more about their lives. All of A.J. York’s books are very uplifting, and offer important life lessons. This one is no different, focusing on the idea of believing in yourself and being proud of who you are. This is shaping up to be a truly lovely series, and I can’t wait to read book number three!

Also, A.J. York has posted an adorable little trailer for the book which you can watch here! It’s lovely, and the spider is so cute! (There’s something I never thought I’d say!)

Note: This electronic copy of the book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Delilah Dusticle’s Transylvanian Adventure picks up where its predecessor left off. The business that Delilah and Abi are operating has increased in popularity and demand—so much so that Transylvania calls for Delilah’s special skills. When she travels to Transylvania alone, she discovers that all is not as it seems and finds out new information about others, as well as her.

To say anything further would give some significant spoilers, and on that, I will refrain. However, I will reveal key things that I found favorable about the book, and things (if applicable) need improvement.

Con: This slight drawback is the same that I had for the first book. I would have liked to have seen a tad bit more illustrations in the book, beyond the ones that just appear at the start of the chapters. This comes to mind because of the target audience (8-12), and I think the visuals would go well with a story that is packed with so much action.

All right, let’s move on to the things I adore.

Pros

1. Even if you haven’t read the first book (Delilah Dusticle), this book can still serve as a standalone work. You get the general idea of what happened in the first with a very quick recap.

2. The content of this book is of a quicker pace which suits the rhythm of magic and fantasy.

3. The unusual makeup of the characters, particularly the ones in Transylvania, really ticked my fancy. My favorite one was Winnie, the Count himself.

4. The magical component really came to life in this one and made me get more invested in Delilah’s history.

5. The supporting characters that aided Delilah provided the right comic relief to balance out the nicely placed tension through the read.

6. All levels of syntax—wonderfully done.

My Verdict: 4.5 stars but rounding to a 5.

It was quite a treat to read this second installment of the series. The message of just being yourself was very strong throughout, along with the promotion of friendship and teamwork. With the incorporation of more illustrations in the interior and sticking with the full development of magic and fantasy, the Delilah Dusticle collection is one that youngsters and adults alike can follow along with and appreciate.

Today We Did
Delilah and Abi have formed a very successful cleaning company called “Dustbusters”. They have a whole team of cleaners working for them and they have endless work keeping them occupied. Delilah is wonderful at removing dust that others just can’t, she whips out her duster and simply eradicates the dust! Whilst cleaning for one of their clients, Delilah receives a letter from Count W. Dracula requesting her services in preparing his castle in Transylvania for a large function. Delilah and her workers, Dev, Billy and Doris travel to Transylvania, meeting the rather eccentric Count. Delilah gets much more than she expected on her first overseas gig!

This is the second book in the Delilah Dusticle series. The story picks up with Delilah and Abi in their successful business venture, but leads Delilah to discover so much more about herself. There were fairies and spies, and of course a very annoying villain ready to be overthrown in this delightful fantasy. It was a fun and engaging story, with plenty of magic and humour. The chapters are short and the plot easily followed, making it perfect for early independent readers. There are cute colour illustrations at the beginning of each chapter too.

I quite like Delilah. Her ability to eradicate dust is pretty amazing, but she is also clever, kind and generous. Abi is similarly endowed, except her special ability is to create incredible and beautiful dusters. Winnie, aka Count Dracula, was a complete card! His antics and his style made me laugh. I do wish I could have some fluffy duck slippers that quack when I walk! His assistant, Ulrik was also a funny character. All of the characters are interesting, and well developed.

I read Delilah Dusticle’s Transylvanian Adventure in a single sitting, and now I am ready for Delilah’s next adventure. It is most suitable for primary school students, but I really liked it! I think this book could be read independently of the first Delilah Dusticle story, though both are worth reading.

Delilah Dusticle is back with a big assignment that only she can handle. With her new business Dustbusters formed with her good friend Abi, things are starting to look promising. Using her special gift of eradicating duct, Delilah scales up walls, reaches into crevices and captures dusts that no other individuals can’t. Delilah has now discovered that if she feels sad or loses her concentration, her special gift fails her. Instead of eradicating dust, dust begins to fall and coats everything around her. A strange occurrence but something Delilah must keep in check. With a Grumpy Sponge in her pouch, Delilah is at work one day when a letter is delivered asking for her services from Count Dracula in Transylvania. A trip! Not wanting to pass up this adventure, Delilah and two of her employees embark on this adventure. Doris, a strange quirky lady and Dev, this fun daring lad accompanied Delilah on this job. What a ride they have to arrive in a new country. What Count Dracula had in mind for Delilah and her cleaning crew was not what they anticipated but choosing Delilah for this job was perfect. Getting the castle ready was a big job but the tale is not over. As Count calls out his guests, “Jack Frost,” “Esmeralda Wartface,” “Garb and Garbie Gargoyle,” “Baroness Noreen and her entourage” it is this last name that draws the most attention. Her arrival at the ball causes quite a commotion that leads to a fun-filled quest of discovery.

A great children’s book, as Delilah does more self-discovery in this story as she learns about her past and she moves forwards in her new business. I was excited to see some pictures inserted into this book as it adds to the story. As Delilah finds out more about her special talents, she questions whether, “I am not sure it is a gift. It’s a bit weird, and it can sometimes be a curse.” I liked that thought, a pure honest thought to talk about with a child as you are reading the book to them. The night of the ball was fabulous and children will truly enjoy hearing/reading about that account. The book is thrilling and a fun read.

Our delightful Delilah is off on another action-filled adventure as her cleaning company goes “international” when her services are needed by none other than Count Dracula in preparation for a gala affair at his castle. Get ready to share a wonderful children’s tale, either with a child or just your own inner child,( because we all have one)! Delilah Dusticle’s Transylvanian Adventure by A. J. York is filled with imagination, quirky characters that will burrow into your heart and dust, lots of dust!

Something is wrong with Delilah, her powers over dust have gone wonky. Will Delilah discover secrets of her past and why she has the gift of “dust eradicating?” Will she see her gift as a blessing or something else?

Once again, A. J. York has created a fantasy world populated by characters that grab the imagination, scenes that dance across the mind in full color! Books like this create long term readers out of young children as the fantasy of Delilah’s world flies by!

I received my copy from the author in exchange for my honest review and my inner child loved it!

Plot/Story:
I am in love with A.J. York’s work. Everything I have read by her has been amazing and this book is not different. We follow Delilah through another adventure as she meets Dracula! It is such an adorable story about believing in yourself and the power of friendship. Also, there are a lot of magical things happening. We also learn a little bit more about where Delilah gets her extraordinary gift to eradicate dust.

Characters:
My favorite character in this book was Count Dracula. He was so not what I was expecting! Of course, you have the characters from the first book, and they are still ever amazing.

Romance/Kills:
No kills and a tiny little romance between Delilah and her special someone, Duncan. It’s an adorable little romance that is only hinted at.

Writing:
I think A.J. York is a fantastic author. Her style keeps the reader interested without revealing too much too quick. And the novel has been very well edited.

Beginning:
The beginning jumps right into the story, but if you have read the first book, you don’t need a fancy first chapter to convince you to read the story.

Ending:
Fantastic ending! It leaves the story open for another book, but answers most of your questions.

Cover Art:
The cover is adorable and so perfect for the story.

Blurb:
The blurb doesn’t give much away, but with a short novel like this, there isn’t much you can say in a blurb. But, it is enough to draw a reader in.

Other Stuff

Opening Line: Delilah Dusticle has a special gift: she can wholly and completely eradicate dust.

Highlights: An adorable and fast read.

Lowlights: There is nothing I can think of.

Final Thoughts: This is a perfect story for kids and should be included in school libraries!

“Delilah Dusticle has a special gift,” a superpower perhaps, but one so sweetly humorous any child and parent will happily relate. She can dust, like magic. And she can make dust. This latter, of course, is a bit of a problem since dust falls like snow when she’s distracted.

Delilah and Abi have started a great “dustbusting” business in post-war Britain, cleaning grand mansions for the no-longer-rich who can’t afford live-in staff. They’re advertised in all the best newspapers, and Delilah’s image can even be seen on a billboard in Piccadilly Circus. But are they ready to go international? Is it really safe for Delilah to travel to Transylvania and clean the Count’s castle?

The story’s full of fun characters, perfectly suited to Bollywood, Hollywood and more. And the text has a nice read-aloud cadence, making this not just a fun middle-grade novel, but also a great story to read to groups of younger children (or at bedtime). Illustrations nicely interspersed with the text complement the narrative and add to the fun. I especially love the picture of Doris peeping over her well-wrapped scarf, but Ulrik’s washing is pretty cool too, as are assorted bats and spiders!

And then there’s Count Dracula. But be ready for intriguing surprises, mystery and terror, all told with a nice quiet sense of humor as Delilah explores her dusty side. Imaginative, magical and fun, Delilah Dusticle’s Transylvanian Adventure will entice and amuse all ages, in the tradition of good old-fashioned fantastical storytelling. And the fact that its reluctant heroine is female, and cleans houses, is just a delightful added bonus.

Delilah Dusticle is back and this time she is traveling to Transylvania for a very important job Delilah and her BFF Abi have started a business were they clean houses, using her special cleaning skills their cleaning business is doing very well. One of Delilah clients gives her a letter that asks her to travel to Transylvania to help clean a house before a huge party for Count W. Dracula. Once there Delilah find out a lot about herself in a fun and cute adventure.

I adore Delilah and it was nice to enter into her world again. With a Grumpy Sponge, Count W. Dracula with a Tan, British Spy Maids, an Evil Baroness and her entourage this is a super cute novella, full of action, mystery and magic. Delilah has a special gift and learns a lot about herself in this book. I love the illustrations in the book they really gave a lot to the story and are so cute! I thought this story had a more fun factor than the first one and I really enjoyed the magic parts of it. However I will be honest, I wasn’t expecting a lot of the magic since the first one really didn’t have it, so it seemed strange at first (ie talking spiders) but I really like the direction this series will be going and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.

I gave Delilah Dusticle’s Transylvanian Adventure 4/5 stars. Once again A.J. York created such a great cast of characters and a really cute story that was so funny and full of adventure. This is a great read for kids and for adults looking for a fun imaginative read. I cannot wait to see where Delilah goes next.

[review also posted on my blog at http://beentherereadthatreviewedthebo...]

Delilah Dusticle’s Transylvanian Adventure is a light-hearted read packed with weird and wonderful characters sure to result in plenty of giggles and fun.

The second instalment in the Delilah Dusticle series started off a little slow, as it seemed to recap on what happened in the first novella. However, once Delilah and the Dustbusters started on their way to Transylvania, this book brought the humour, entertainment and quirky nature which I loved in book one.

There was a whole host of characters featured in this book, from the relatively normal Dev and Doris to Count Dracula to football-playing spiders and Grumpy Sponge. Although I expected and hoped that Abi would be involved more as she was a big part of book one, there were plenty of other characters who kept the charm, bringing friendship and loyalty.

Gavin Childs' illustrations added some colour and spark to the book and I was glad to see more illustrations in this book than book one. They all worked wonderfully with the story and provided more entertainment instead of a distraction.

Delilah Dusticle’s Transylvanian Adventure has a mixture of things young readers will enjoy, from heroes and villains to fun characters and plenty of laughs. The mixture of fantasy elements lead you into another world you just might not want to leave.

4/5.

After reading the first book in this series, I was curious where Delilah could go from there. And this story surpassed any expectations I might of had.

Where in book one, we learn to get to know Delilah, how she develops friendships and she wins over our hearts, this book brings her to a new level. Delilah isn't only good at dusting, it's now formed into a sort of super power--and a fun one at that. Delilah has come a long way from being simply a maid and now, helps her best friend, Abi, with a feather duster/duster business, a very successful one. During her daily dustings, she discovers that dust 'listens' to her...but after her dust problems in book one, this shouldn't be completely surprising.

I enjoyed this book more than the first one. Delilah now has a purpose, and it's a fun one. There are times which made me laugh and others which had me leaning back to think, but the entire time, I was engaged in Delilah's story.

The fantasy behind this is a delight--whimsical and just obscure enough from reality that it gains it's own form of brightness. In a way, it reminds me of Mary Poppins, but with a entirely different air of lightness and fantasy.

Summed up, I really enjoyed this and believe kids ages eight and up will cheer Delilah on as she overcomes whatever is thrown at her with loving ease.

Delilah Dusticle is delightful. The first book in the Dustbuster series (click here for my review) dealt with Delilah’s recovery from heartbreak and finding happiness and peace within her special skills. This second novel is Delilah Dusticle’s Transylvanian Adventure is light, fun, sweet and thoroughly entertaining. Delilah is the Pippi Longstocking for the modern child sharing the same innocent and sweet nature with the iconic character with a solid sense of good fun and good friends.

Gavin Childs is to be commended for the illustrations. They were well drawn, very suited to the story and quite humorous.

My daughter, Alex, is now 12-years-old and the upper end of this market. When I gave her the novel to read she thought it very wise of York to make Dracula a friendly character as leaving out the horror element broadens the market. Alex likes that the story is set in the past and finds Delilah fun and sweet. I watched as she read curled up on the couch with a huge smile on her face and the occasional giggle. Delilah Dusticle’s Transylvanian Adventure is truly a fun and feel good piece perfect for the middle grade child and the young at heart.

"Never judge a book by its cover, and never underestimate those you deem old."

I wasn't expecting this at all! I really liked the first book in the series, which is Delilah Dusticle, but this one really threw me for a loop. Whereas the first book focuses on Delilah finding herself and building a successful life with her friend Abi, Delilah Dusticle’s Transylvanian Adventure takes the reader on a thrilling and funny adventure.
What I liked the most about this book was that a lot of new characters were introduced, and there's a whole new subplot there that I never saw coming. This story doesn't just focus on Delilah and her powers but on other characters as well.
I loved the moral of this story just as much as the first. I think it's very important that people in general, not just children, shouldn't underestimate elders. Especially since they lived in a time much more harder than the present.
I can't wait to see what A.J. York has stored for Delilah and her friends next!

I was generously provided a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Deliliah Dusticle's Transylvanian Adventure began with an invitation to the Fenchurch-Whittington's distant relative's far away estate. Delilah gathers her employees from the Dustbusters cleaning specialists her and best friend Abi started at the end of the first book. The introduction to "Dracula" was snazzy, and the story progressed from there. As with the first book, the characters were the best feature. Delilah finds out that she is someone special/supernatural, and as "Dracula" explains this truth to her, things start to piece together. Because of Delilah's special abilities she must learn how to harness her inner strength and learns she is wanted by the government.

Delilah's Transylvanian Adventure was very sparkly and wondrous, York captures a spooky fun likeness comparable to the recent Adam Sandler movie, Hotel Transylvania. This series is fun and imaginative; perfect for young children who have a big imagination.

In this story, Delilah gets an invitation to visit Transylvania as a guest in the house of Count Dracula. The requests is to be present and help out with the Hallow Eve Ball. The author pulls up so many surprises in this story making it a delight to read. Delilah's task surprisingly is to create dust rather than to eradicate it. With this unusual request from the Count, Delilah sets about doing just that. In the meantime, she comes to find out who she truly is, that her ability to eradicate or create dust is a magical power and she almost gets kidnapped because of this. It is her best friend Abi, her boyfriend and the other dust busters who come to her rescue in the nick of time.

This story is as fun as the first with a lot more magic and dust around. This story is more focused on Delilah's path to self discovery making it a little more serious. Count Dracula is so different from the expectations that he will make the readers laugh in glee. In all this is a wonderful story and one which will make the reader smile a lot.

*This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Delilah and her team have come so far and are about to go on an adventure they could have never imagined. Delilah and her Dustbusters are invited to Transylvania to clean for the well-known Dracula. However everything is not as it seems in the giant mansion. Delilah learns things about herself as Dracula explains the truth of her powers to her. Delilah must learn to harness her powers. There are spiders in football gear, British spies, and an evil baroness. I do also have to mention that one of my favorite characters in the book is the grumpy sponge. I found him to be pretty funny.

This book definitely has more of an adventure aspect than the first book and I really enjoyed it. It is funny and magical and the characters, both major and minor, are entertaining and I think children will probably enjoy this one even more than the first.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a perfect second book in this series. This book, like the first, had some great messages for kids. Mainly, be true to yourself.

That’s one of the best messages we can give our children.

The story is fun and unique. Magic and whimsy abound. Each character brings a special piece to the story.

I really enjoyed getting to know more about Delilah’s dust abilities. You won’t be dissapointed! Who knew dust could be such a butt kicking weapon? I was also very surprised to find that some of the other characters are hiding secret identities!

What an adventurous life Delilah and her companions have!

The grumpy sponge is my favorite character. I’ll admit it. I like him. He’s a cool dude.

York tells this story with wit and piles of imagination. The world building was great. The characters are wonderfully written. The pacing is perfect!

Delilah has grown a good amount since book one and her company, the Dustbusters are successful and have been summoned to Transylvania for a party. Upon arrival, Delilah learns about why her dust magics have been going all wonky and more about her background. I was excited to learn a little more about this. Dracula has a hilarious personality, and the other Dustbusters that accompany Delilah to Transylvania are interesting, secretive, and also a good bunch.

In this short story, the characters are wonderful, however the plot starts and takes off very rapidly, you barely know there is going to be such excitement and suddenly it is there are you are dying to flip the page. Another very cute and imaginative story in the Delilah Dusticle series. I found this installment very entertaining and a quick read.

This is the second installment in the Delilah Dusticle series, and I enjoyed this book, especially some of the quirky characters like Grumpy Sponge. I'm still intrigued with the idea of a woman who can eradicate or spew out dust at will, and this book gives us a little info on why Delilah has the powers she does.

It's also a fun romp through Transylvania, with a not-so-evil vampire, a very evil and spotlight hogging baroness, some spies thrown in, and a hauntingly good Halloween party. This is enough to capture a kid's interest, although some scenes are a little drawn out, some are a bit frantic-paced, and sometimes the storyline is a little hard to follow.

But it's an entertaining addition to the series, with some downright hilarious parts, and I think kids and their parents will enjoy this one.

This is the second in the Delilah Dusticle series. I found this second installment even more enjoyable than the first!

In this installment, Delilah and her friends are well established in their cleaning business. So well established that Delilah is contacted to make a special trip - to Transylvania and to the home of one Count Dracula. While visiting, Delilah learns a few things about herself - her history as well as her special abilities. Things that make her interesting to those who'd exploit her talents.

What I enjoyed so much about this second book was that Ms. York incorporated some history of World War II, and folklore such as that of Dracula and Irish folklore of the fae. All this made for a more exciting, action-packed tale, It was very interesting. I'm rather excited to see what's next for Delilah and her friends.

Delilah Dusticle's Transylvanian Adventure is a delightful read. I loved what A.J. York did with this story. I liked the first book in the series, but this one is better. Delilah and the rest of the characters are more fully developed and the fun magical world presented in the first part of the first book runs throughout the entire Transylvanian Adventure.

I loved the magical little details throughout that reminded me of the fun magical detail in Harry Potter. However, at the same time, Delilah's adventure is unique and original.

If you love subtle magic and colorful characters that are engaging and interesting, you'll love Delilah Dusticle's Transylvanian Adventure! This is a perfect read for young readers on up. It's also a perfect book to read to your kids!

I received a free ecopy of this book for an honest review.

This is another fun story for young readers about Delilah Dusticle and her cleaning crew. They’ve been invited to Transylvania to help Count Dracula get ready for his annual party. He is a descendant of the infamous Count Dracula and is quite different from the original.

There’s a lot more action in the second book than in the first. It’s a story that young readers will definitely especially with all of the quirky characters.

The message in Delilah Dusticle’s Transylvania Adventure is that you should use your gifts, whatever they are, the the best of your ability.

I think this is another book that young readers would definitely enjoy. I did find that the errors in the second half of this one were a bit distracting.

My review for Delilah Dusticle, Delilah Dusticle's Transylvanian Adventure, Delilah Dusticle and the Cursed Tempest, and Eliza Bluebell

Cute, Cute, Cute, Cute!!! These books were so delightful! I love books that have a little normal life mixed with a little magic. As much as I loved these books now, I would have adored them when I was younger!

I do have to say that my favorite was Eliza Bluebell. It was such a sweet story. Eliza is a great character with a sweet and helpful personality. The chapters were all like separate little stories all in one book. Very good book! I highly recommend checking out all of these books!
