Before topping multiple bestseller lists—including those of the New York Times, USA Today, and the Wall Street Journal—award winning author Elisabeth Naughton taught middle school science. A voracious reader, she soon discovered she had a knack for creating stories with a chemistry of their own. The spark turned into a flame, and Elisabeth now writes full-time.

Though primarily known for her romantic suspense work, Elisabeth has penned over thirty books and continues to write in multiple genres, including paranormal romance and contemporary romance. Her books have been translated into numerous languages and have earned several award nominations, including three prestigious RITA® nominations from Romance Writers of America. In 2017, REPRESSED, the first book in her Deadly Secrets series, won the RITA® for best romantic suspense.

Elisabeth's work has been praised by the Chicago Tribune as being filled with "deadly intrigue, high adrenaline action, and scorchingly hot passion.” Kirkus calls her "a writer talented enough at weaving a yarn to get her readers ensnared in it.” When not dreaming up new stories, Elisabeth can be found spending time with her husband and three children in their western Oregon home, wrangling two cats, or chasing after one very rambunctious Dalmatian.

3 Sexy security stars! Grace Ryder is on a quick vacation trying to get herself back on track with her music writing. She has hit a wall and needs inspiration. When the same hot guy keeps randomly showing up where she is, she decides to throw caution to the wind and go for it.

Brian Walker is a former military man, who is doing his best to keep himself employed. He works for Aegis Security for none other than Grace's brother. He is to keep his eye out for Gracie and see that nothing bad happens on her holiday, but Brian didn't expect Grace to land in his lap or for them to have an instant attraction.

This novella is short and sweet. I would have loved for more character development as I really liked Brian. Grace was a little bit too trusting of events but the steam between these two was great to read. There is even a little twist in the story line I didn't see coming and that was a nice added surprise. The insta-love was there in full effect but it didn't seem tragically wrong and it flowed well. My biggest issues, was that this novella could have had more added to it. I like the other Aegis book I read in the series and wanted more from this. Overall, a good read.

Grace is a too stupid to live heroine sucking back booze at a bar and letting her equally moronic best friend Holly goad her into picking up a stranger in a bar when she knows she has a stalker. This is a novella so naturally they hop into bed pretty damned quick. And the villain is ridiculously obvious. It's well written and the characters are well fleshed out for a short story, but it requires an extreme amount of willful suspension of disbelief.

••••••••••••••

REVIEW: SINFUL SURRENDER is the May 2014 novella in Elisabeth Naughton’s adult, contemporary Aegis Security erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on the men and women who work for Aegis Security. This is former Delta Force soldier and Aegis Security operative Brian Walker and song writer Grace Ryder’s storyline. Grace is the younger sister of Aegis Security owner Jake Ryder.

The storyline focuses on Brian’s latest assignment with Aegis Security. He is to covertly keep an eye on Grace Ryder- his boss’s sister and a woman who is being stalked by an unknown source. Vacationing and writing in Vail, Colorado Grace will find herself attracted to the stranger and offers herself up for a one-night stand. A break in, potential robbery and an attack against our couple will find Grace, once again, facing another threat but this time she knows from where the threat is coming.

The secondary and supporting characters include Aegis Security owner and former SEAL Jake Ryder and Jake’s assistant Marley Addison as well as Grace’s best friend Holly. The world building finds our couple nestled in the snow covered mountains of Colorado where another Aegis Security agent will fall in love and lose his heart.

Elisabeth Naughton adds another entertaining dimension to the world of former Navy SEALs and specialized security with this fast paced novella in the Aegis Security series (originally released in the anthology Sinful Seconds). The novella can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.

NUMBER OF HEARTS: 5
REVIEW:
Okay I have to start by saying if you have not read an Elisabeth Naughton book, shame on you!! This girl can right the hell out of a story. And Sinful Surrender falls into that category with 5 blazing hearts.

I am so in love with Brain. He is just so sweet, protective and full of guilt (serves him right). But nothing will make him take his eyes off the prize and the prize is Grace. Grace on the other hand is so quiet, sweet and kinda shy. But we all know those are the ones we have to watch out for. They are all kinds of sneaky. These two were so much fun to read. The interaction between the two was fun and Grace’s pick up like was the best.

If you are looking for a good quick read you need to give Sinful Surrender a chance. I am sure that you will fall in love just like I did. I can't wait to see what is next in the Aegis Security series. I can't wait for a certain big brother to get taken down by a sweet little gal :)

Elisabeth Naughton has been a naughty writer. Why you ask? Well, Sinful Surrender should have been a full-length novel. While the author did a fantastic job of cramming lots of sexy goodness into this short story – I was not ready to let go of these characters.

Feeling stressed about a fast approaching deadline songwriter, Grace Ryder, is looking for inspiration. Her friend, Holly, provides some unrealistic advice, considering Grace has a stalker; she recommends she take the night off, pickup a stranger in a bar, and get laid.

The author mixes humor, suspense, and sexy with a little drama for a fully-loaded adventure. I read straight through this one – I could not put it down. Then immediately following the conclusion of this novella I rushed out to see if the author had released Jack Ryder, Grace’s older brothers, story yet.

This review also appears on Harlequin Junkie.

His boss' sister is being stalked, so Brian Walker, being the closest to her vacation spot, is assigned to keep an eye on her. Unfortunately, Grace's friend convinces her to jump the sexy stranger's bones, and Brian soon finds it really hard to keep his hands off her.

The premise with the stalker was good, but everything else wasn't. The stalker was too predictable, Brian's pretense screamed trouble later in the story, both leads were one-dimensional, and the plot, beside the stalker (and that was minor), was nonexistent.

And since there was no plot, the "story" had to be filled with something to fill the pages. Why not make it sex. And since it was just filler, the sex read like PWP, there was no chemistry, no heat, nothing...The characters just went through with the moves.
This story had absolutely no "soul".

“Sinful Surrender” is a bog standard boy meets girl, both are hiding their true identities, they have great sex, then, as they begin to fall for each other, the truth emerges.
Cue disappointment on her part, protectiveness on his.
Grace Ryder is being stalked, her brother Jake, owner of Aegis Security, has assigned Brian Walker to protect her.
Suddenly, stalking escalates into something far more dangerous. Grace and Brian are stuck together for one more night.
The stalker obliging arrives to finish Grace off – let's just say that both Grace and Brian end up capable of making appearances in further books in the series.
It's not good, it's not bad, it's floating somewhere in the middle – fairly well written, fairly well plotted, but instantly forgettable.
And, right at the end, there's a peculiar text from Jake Ryder to Brian while Grace is watching the phone, and Jake knows:- “RYDER: I still think that you're a douche for boning my sister ...” Very odd and completely out of place.

Suspense, betrayal drama, and steamy romance

This story is steamy and romantic with heart throbbing suspense. Brian is sent on a mission to protect Grace from someone who is stalking her and as the story develops the become involved. After all various things that happened it is reviled that stalker is some Grace trust and never suspected at all. Sometimes it is the people you trust most that hurt you because they are jealous or for other misguided reasons
Grace and Brian saved each other. Brian was emotionally bankrupt and Grace brought him back to live and Brian helped Grace to get her groove back in many ways. They ignited each other. I love Elisabeth Naughton books.

This novella was cute and steamy. Grace had a personality that made me smile. She was quirky and danced to her own rhythm. She was naive in an adorable way that made me laugh. Brian was that possessive alpha male that is always fun to read about. When those two got together, it was definitely a hot read! The suspense was perfect for the length of the book; it didn't go into too much depth making the reader feel lost when the story ended, but it also had enough detail where the reader didn't feel shorted. I thought it was perfect and truly loved this novella.

Sinful Surrender (Aegis Security, #0.6) by Elisabeth Naughton

Overall Rating: 4 Rockin’ ★★★★

Grace needed to get away for a while. Someone was stalking her and the police had not been able to catch the culprit. She also needs to find some inspiration for her music. Vail seemed like a perfect chose as a getaway destination. Grace has noticed a man she calls McDreamy because he has the most beautiful eyes she has ever seen. She decides after a couple of drinks to approach him at the hotel bar and see where it will go.

“So,” a woman said beside him, “I don’t normally do this, but, um, you have the hottest thighs I’ve ever seen, and I…I just wanted to tell you how gorgeous they are. I’ve sort of been staring at them all night.”

Brian cannot believe when he sees that is Ryder’s sister that has come on to him at the bar. She is the job that he is there to handle. Thinking fast he decides this is the best way to watch out for her close up and personal and not from a distance. Only problem is he is attracted to her too and nothing had prepared him for her not even his tour in Iraq or Afghanistan!

She jumped off her stool, moved between his legs, and leaned in close. So close he felt her everywhere. “Nothing. Just my ex. “Her scent – her sexy, fresh, alluring scent – mixed with her heat to float all around him and make him lightheaded. “Quick. Kiss me before he sees me. He’s heading right for us.”

After a night and day of Brian she still wanted more from him and so she tells him her real name and that she really writes songs. He had inspired her to write two fantastic songs and one was for him. They spend the day on the slopes and when they return to the hotel find her room has been trashed. Brian finds himself taking charge with the authorities and lets them know that he works with the Aegis Security Agency and is Grace’s private security.

Jake Ryder was a dead man. But he’d have to get in line and wait, because Grace had plans to kill Brian Walker first.

Grace cannot believe her brother had sent Brian to babysit her and the worst part was Brian had lied to her. She realizes that she needs to just make it through one night and then she would head home. Will Brian be able to convince Grace that she is more than a job to him or will she refuse to take him seriously?

“Grace dammit.” She made it one step around him before his hand closed over her arm, jerking her back to face him. “You weren’t just a job…”

Lines have been crossed between Brian and his job as a security guard. Will Grace and Brian find a way to salvage their relationship?

Hero –Brian Walker: 4 stars
Heroine –Grace Ryder: 4 stars
Steam: 4 stars
Plot: 4 stars
Cliffhanger: No

Would I recommend this book: Yes! The lesson learned from this book is twofold. One, a big brother will stick his nose in your business and two; sometimes best friends really aren’t best friends. You can depend on love; it will always be there when you need it.

Would I read other books by this author: Yes!

Ok, so in a different review for this author I made a comment on short novellas not being her thing, but this one she so proved me wrong. She definitely can, it just depends on what kind of characters she brings to the table. Brian and Grace had chemistry right from the start and they were both likable on their own and together which makes me very happy and rooting for them. Brian is on the job and Grace is hiding out to get away. They just clicked from the beginning and I truly believe whether he worked for Aegis or not they would have gotten together either way given they'd crossed each other's paths. Their first interaction was adorable and sweet. If I'm to believe that two people have feelings for each other or even claim to love each other, I gotta see more than sex between them and some real feelings. With this couple, I felt it was more than just a really good night. The attraction was a major factor but how open and comfortable they felt with each other right away was a huge help in making the relationship believable. They opened up to each other and had fun just being around the other person, without sex being the main connection they have.

Grace came clean right away about her deception but Brian had to keep up his act for her safety and to keep his job. He does show some doubt after the night they spend together but it mostly comes from the guilt he feels for crossing the line and because he hates lying to her when she was honest. I think she forgave him a little too easily but I can let it go because I can see how torn he is about it and doesn't expect her to get over it, but rather put it aside for her safety and she can be pissed off later. I also love how Brian didn't take any crap from Jake and didn't give up on Grace. He went to her like a man and asked for a chance to prove himself after giving up what he did. I only wish the story was longer, I would have liked to see more of them getting closer. I think it would have made the story stronger but felt that for a short story the author already did great as it is.

I really like Brian and Grace’s story. It hooked you from the very beginning and kept you hooked until the very end. It had just the right amount of romance and suspense to make a wonderful story.

Grace is a songwriter and is having trouble writing her last two songs that she needs to fulfill her contract. So Grace takes a trip to Vail, Colorado to see if she can find her muse again and complete the last two songs; plus she is having some stalker issues in Nashville, so she can escape from that also.

Brian Walker, works for Grace’s brother Ryder at Aegis Security. Ryder sends Brian to Vail, Colorado to lookout for Grace and to make sure that she stays safe. Brian is just supposed to keep an eye on Grace, however, Grace notices Brian around the ski lodge and Holly convinces Grace that she needs to let loose and have a one night stand. Little did Grace know that she was Brian’s job while he was in Vail and she approaches him in the hotel bar and wants him to be her one night stand! There is an instant chemistry between Brian and Grace and he can’t help but go to her room with her, but he can’t let Grace know he works for her brother, because he is attracted to her. It all blows up in his face before he can tell her the truth, but in the end he protects her and in the process gave her his heart.

3.5 stars

This is my first book by Elisabeth Naughton, but I'd seen her books on GR before and jumped when this came available through NetGalley. This was a quick, sexy little tale about a woman who is being stalked by an unknown and a man who has been secretly put in charge of keeping her safe. There isn't anything new about this story. Do I need to tell you that they are attracted to each other? No, probably not. If I told you that her half-brother is in charge of the security company and would fire Brian, his employee and the hero in this story, if Brian slept with Grace (the sister/heroine), would you be surprised? No, probably not. But, sometimes even stories that are fairly predictable in their plot and character development can still be fun and enjoyable. This one was. Grace was a little awkward, Brian was just alpha enough to be sexy without going over the top. Their quick start romance was hot and the suspense element was a good backdrop for the story.

It was quick. It was sexy and if you don't mind an uncomplicated plot, this will suit your purposes.

Oh Brian your mind is something I love to be in, "so," a woman said beside him, "I don't normally do this, but, um, you have the hottest thighs I've ever seen, and I...I just wanted to tell you how gorgeous they are. I've sort of been staring at them all night." Brian nearly choked on his beer. That was a new one, even for him. He turned his head, then froze. Ryder's sister. And his anonymous assignment. Eff." Brian he's a passionate man, "her eyelids drooped, and she watched through a sexual haze as he kicked off his jeans, ripped open a condom wrapper with his teeth, and sheathed himself. "That's it," he whispered. "You are so effing sexy." I loved Brian's humor that boy is just hot, "he leaned back against the hood of her car. "If you wanted to check out my hot thighs, all you had to do was ask. You didn't have to fall to the ground at my feet."

Sinful Surrender is part of the Aegis Security Series. Brian Walker was given an assignment to watch his employer's sister. Grace Ryder is a songwriter on vacation to get away from the craziness of the recent threats against her life. Grace is having trouble writing the last two song on her contract. In her mind, all she needs is one night stand just to relief some tension and Brian is every woman's fantasy come true. The chemistry between the two characters is scorching. I could not put down this sizzling fast-pace short story. If this what the series consist of. I need to read the other books in the series fast. Grace Ryder needs to get away she has a deadline and a stalker (who may want her dead) so she leaves her home in Nashville to spend time in Vail. While there she sees a hot stranger and with the encouragement of her best friend picks him up for a hot night. The chemistry between Grace and Brian is scorching! The sex scenes are scorching hot! This is a quick read and I loved it. There are a few twists, like Brian works for Grace’s brother and is supposed to be watching her…just not quite that closely…

This was a great afternoon read and I will be looking forward to more books from this author and in this series. I received an ARC of this book from the publisher through Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

For me, most of the time, Ms. Naughton's books are hit or miss. But, in my case, the "miss" means a "meh" reaction, not an "OMG, that sucked" book. Unfortunately, this book fell in the latter category. It wasn't entirely predictable, but it was also not particularly gripping. I liked seeing Grace and Brian get together. I didn't particularly think the villain was that impressive. A bit obvious in many ways, though I will admit while I considered the villain, I ultimately blew the individual off as the threat. So, in that respect, I was caught off guard, but not overly impressed when their identity was revealed.

Three and a half stars.

its a story about a songwriter who has writers block and needs to write two more songs to fulfill her contract and goes away on holiday because she has been receiving death threats through emails, she meets a man at the bar and she wants to have raging sex with him not realising he has been sent by her brother to keep an eye on her, so they both pretend to be someone else which ends up in a passionate clinch and more....... Its a mystery, intrigue, story because she has no idea who her stalker is and why they would want to kill her, but you have to read this one to the end because its quite a surprise.

This novella kicks off a new series from Elisabeth Naughton. The novella format made it seem a bit rushed. There were quite a few characters to introduce and premises and settings to establish; which caused the romance to move along a a very fast clip. Ms Naughton writes a good suspense story, so I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series offerings. Hopefully the hero and heroine from Sinful Surrender will make appearances in future stories, as I am interested in their happily ever after.

Hot and Steamy

This is the first Aegis Securities book I've read. I've now added all of them to my to read list and downloaded them. I love the story of Grace and Brian. They both have a lot of baggage but in different ways. I laughed during their story which is always a plus. The sex scenes are extremely hot. What a woman wouldn't give to have a man devour her the way Brian does Grace. I hope to get updates on them through other Aegis books. Of course it left me hoping for Grace's brother Jake's story.

This author is hit or miss for me. Sadly, this one was a miss. It started off well enough, but by the time you find out who the villain is, it had become just a so-so book for me. And when you do find out who the villain is, it's too obvious, and the villain behaves in the over-the-top manner you expect in bad movies. The romance portion was okay, but became a bit sappy near the end. I don't think that I'll continue on with the next book in the series when it's released.

Definitely a great read!

Brian and Grace are hot. What I liked most was that the characters have been brought together in a typical way but the writing is so well done you can't wait for these two's romance to blossom. The angst that a lot of the stories have isn't so much that you get tired of reading about and thinking when will they get together. Can't wait for the next story!

Sinfully Good

Oh I thoroughly enjoyed this story. A lot of emotion, lust, action and secrets. I don't want to say anymore about the story, just get while it's on sale, it's well worth it.

I have read every single one of Elisabeth Naughton' s books except for one, and I must say I am never disappointed. She has a quick wit, and the dialogue is always well written. I look forward in reading more of her books.

Read in the Sinful Seconds Anthology

Songwriter Grace is working through some song-writer's-block at a resort in Vail. She's been eyeing a sexy guy all week and finally works up the nerve to approach him.
Brian is private security who's been hired (secretly by her brother) to watch Grace due to some threats she's received.
Grace is likable and so is Brian. They deal with the road bumps in a mature way without any silly drama. Smoking hot love scenes.
