Mucha: 130 Masterpieces

Rate this book
This Art Book with Foreword and annotated reproductions by Maria Tsaneva contains 130 selected drawings, designs and paintings of Alfons Maria Mucha.Alfons Maria Mucha was a Czech Art Nouveau painter and decorative artist, known best for his distinct style. He is native from Moravia, now days in Czech Republic. A contemporary of Victor Horta's Art Nouveau in Brussels, Mucha was also influenced by symbolism and social aspects of the art of William Morris and the development of design in England. He tries to make available the beauty of art for every social class and raise the decorations to status of masterpieces of art. He developed his own aesthetic ideals and original style that became the hallmark of his time and is also known as "Style Alphonse Mucha." The Mucha style became also known as Art Nouveau ("new art"). Mucha's works frequently featured beautiful young women in flowing, vaguely Neoclassical-looking robes, and often surrounded by lush flowers which sometimes formed halos behind their heads. In contrast with contemporary poster makers he used pale pastel colors.
