Eventually Daisy’s past catches up to her and her dreams of making a home in Rapid City are threatened. Daisy moves to town broke and desperate. She goes to the bar and is hired by Maria. On her first night of work , without names being exchanged she has sex with Easy in the bars bathroom. This was only the beginning of the fucked up train ride that was Easy and Daisy's relationship.
Easy hasn't had sex since his lower leg was amputated 3 years ago, just as he's finally ready to get back on that horse he overhears the girl he likes making fun of his leg. He doesn't let her know he overheard her, he instead goes to the bar leaves the girl at the table and fucks Daisy in the bathroom. The girl walks in on them and a physical confrontation ensues between Daisy and the young lady.
In the previous books we saw Easy slowly transition from an angry and bitter young man who had wanted to die into a man who appeared to be healing from his emotional hurt over his injury. Here we get a nasty, immature, whiny, fucked up version of Easy. He treated Daisy like trash for the majority of the book. When some asshole was harsassing her at the bar she thought he was coming to her rescue but nope he passed her straight and went to rescue the same girl who ridiculed his leg. His excuse? He knows Daisy could handle herself. The only reason he didn't fuck another woman was because Daisy cockblocked him. He used Daisy as a replacement for his hand, just a warm hole that he fucked and repeatedly walked away from. I thought I hated Hawk but there are no words to describe how much I absolutely detested Easy and his punk ass whining and horrific treatment of Daisy. He didn't deserve a hea with her at all!!!!
For most of the book his inner thoughts about Daisy were cringeworthy. He didn't like her at all and as she constantly bent over backwards for him I shuddered in shame for her.
Sarah pissed me off here too, always making excuses for Easy as to why he treated Daisy like shit. Like him losing part of his leg gave him a hall pass to disrespect a woman? Fuck that noise!
At about 80%? Of the book after overhearing a conversation where she said she was arrested for prostitution he has to let everyone know that she was a whore. He said vile things to her and when he went to apologise his grand gesture was to show up to her work a couple days in a row where they walked, he explained parts of his past and he got in a tussle with her ex. He should've walked on a bed of hot nails over a volcano before she forgave him but nope she skipped merrily back to town.
Then there's Daisy.....sigh Daisy left her small town trailer park home with her boyfriend who hit her and abandoned her in Sturgis. In order to get a bus ticket back home Daisy fucked a stranger for money. When he took off the condom and wanted her to suck him off she refused and he revealed himself as a cop and arrested her for prostitution. Now this cop turned out to be a sicko bad guy but it doesn't excuse what she did. I respect a woman who is able to do something like that if she has no choice but Daisy chose that over stripping to make BUS FARE to her hometown! Wtf?!?Anyway she did her time and put the past behind her but honestly she just came across as a horny pathetic, loud mouthed woman. She kept letting Easy come back to fuck her no matter how many times he embarrassed her or walked away from her. It was a disgrace and a damn shame. He really wasn't that much of a prize! Not that Daisy was much better either. For someone who's broke and loves her art so much she actually had to think when Adam offered her a choice between fucking him or working for him. Like Bitch da fuck?? Doesn't your vagina ever quit?!!?
In the end Easy and his apparently easy woman were a match made in hell so fuck them both!
I'm moving on because I like this author's stories though her heroes are honestly vomit inducing!
I was going to DNF at first, but I did read the whole thing and am pretty horrified it's rated 3.99.
Awful heroine with absolutely NO respect for herself. A pity partying hero who uses her like a Kleenex he picked off the floor.
Wandering in and having revenge sex in a grotty bathroom with the first woman you see isn't my first pick for an erotic encounter, but given the setup it's a remote possibility. The author murdered that idea when she created a heroine who lets herself get humiliated and used again and again by the hero. Her thoughts about being a strong woman lost a little power when he walks away once again, accuses her of being a whore at the top of his lungs.
Aww! Easy just like his nickname, is easy to love. Miss West put in a sweet swoon worthy hero in Easy. Even he is an ass through out this series, Easy have a big warm heart to snuggle.
My only wish is this book can be longer. For me the story is too short. The plot is simple. No major drama/ plot twist. I love how Easy winning Daisy back.
3 ⭐⭐⭐ - OK, or decent reads. ==========================
Reread in September 2022 and added quotes.
I had forgotten what an asshole he is.
-------------------------- Read in 2014
Não gostei do herói. Ele tinha bastante potencial devido ao sofrimento dele nos livros anteriores e por ele ter perdido a perna. Mas ele é um babaca e tem comportamento duvidoso. A heroína é legal e eu realmente gostei dela. Fiquei desapontada.
----------------------- I didn't like the hero. He had a lot of potential because of his suffering in previous books and because he had lost his leg. But he is a jerk and has dubious behavior. The heroine is cool and I really liked her. I was disappointed.
An emotional book with frustrating characters I received an early complimentary copy for an honest review.
I like this author's writing style, I like the way she has built up her story-world and the interactions between her characters. This book was no exception, but there seemed to be a whole section missing where the Hero did an about face in his thinking and went from screaming accusations and shaming the heroine in front of their friends to sitting uselessly at her diner and ordering food. What kind of apology and growth was that? The heroine was sweet and kind, not to mention a talented artist, who seemed to make bad choices and was not much more than a drifter herself. She was open to sleeping with men she did not really know and seemed rougher and tougher than most heroines you read about in romance. She was a bit of a doormat and kept going back to the hero even though he kicked her in the teeth and openly humiliated her time after time. Perhaps this is more realistic, but other than making me clench my jaw and frustrating me, it did very little to endear me to either character. Easy had problems, big ones and the best part of his character growth towards the end when he learns the truth about the heroine, is glaringly absent in this book.
Daisy Cutter is new in town, she knows that she has no home and frankly is not welcome at the one she had. She gets a job working in a bar when she makes a rash decision and ends up having sex in the bathroom with Jimmy "Easy" Turnbull. He uses and discards her without a thought, Daisy shrugs it off but when she sees him again he is even more of a jerk. Easy decides he needs to make amends as Daisy looks to be sticking around but he didn't plan to fall for her. When Daisy's old life she ran away from comes to her doorstep, Easy is there ready to protect her. No one is getting the women he is quickly falling in love with.
This was not quite what I expected and I had a hard time warming up to both characters. They both have a chip on their shoulders and sometimes there was so much going on with the story it was muddled a bit and I got confused with all the characters. If you like gritty stories this is one to pick up though.
I liked this one mostly. One of the things though that has bothered me in all of Ms. West's books so far is that I feel like physical descriptions are lacking. An occasional mention/reminder of what the characters look like would be nice. Some description of the heroine's tattoos would have been nice. I was pretty disappointed that Easy reacted so badly when he found out about her past. That reaction would have been more believable earlier in the story. I did like how he came to find her and treated her better but his change was pretty abrupt. Still I continue to enjoy this series.
The premise is good, but both characters lacked depth. Daisy's art comes up frequently, but her own tattoos get little or no mention during sex scenes. I would have liked to see the hero's appreciate for them grow to match Adam's. Easy doesn't get much organic growth in this story, but rather seems like a before and after. Before he is a vulnerable jerk, cataclysmic melt down, then after he is the white knight. Too jarring to really sweep me away.
At 52% this is the nicest thing he had said about her:
"She was cute, he had to admit. Cover up the tats and take out the nose piercing and she'd be just his type. In the looks dept. In the sex dept, she was pretty good." I mean, swoon??????
Also called her a skank ass whore at 74%, yes there was context, no it isn't worth typing out.
Another character I had great hopes for and turned out to be an asshole. Worse, the "strong, ballsy girl" let's him treat her worse than trash. I'm sorry but that's not love. Two people who feel worthless apart and worse together does not, a romance with heart, make.
Book four of the Burnout series by Dahlia West. Jimmy 'Easy' Turnbull is a member of Shooters old army team. Easy was injured badly in the last attack which he lost part of his leg and was severely emotionally affected. Easy was struggling to deal with his emotions and was treating his family like shit in the mean time. Daisy rocks up in town wanting to escape her past and her own demons. Easy was dating a woman called Brenda until she made fun of him having one leg. After having a fight he comes across Daisy in toilets and has a extremely fast quickie where Daisy didn't even get off then he walked out. There first impression was terrible to say the least. I have to say I really didn't like Easy or how he was name Easy in first place, he really was a asshole and even though I know it was PTSD and with his family and Daisy support he really progress and becomes a guy you want to know. Really like that the series is getting back to how it started really enjoyed how this book develop and included all previous characters. My only confusion is Sarah and baby situation with previous book Sarah was in a serious situation with whether to try get her baby to term or terminate the pregnancy then we jump to Easy book and Sarah has had the baby and everything's fine. Absolutely love Easy grovelling and HEA.

Three years after an IED resulted in the loss of his leg, Jimmy "Easy" Turnball is slowly coming to terms with his disability but still struggles with intimate relationships until a chance encounter with a tiny tattooed waitress shakes him to the core. Daisy Cutter does care what others think of her and she isn't going to start with an ex-Army Ranger who pushes all her buttons. Can Jimmy and Daisy put aside their differences long enough to have a future together?
Series note: This is an ongoing series with a recurring cast of characters.
Jimmy's backstory had such tremendous potential. Unfortunately, it is completely wasted in this book. Jimmy has always been disgruntled and surly, which is understandable given the circumstances. However, his behavior in this book goes far beyond his usual churlishness and rapidly enters douchebag territory. His treatment of Daisy is despicable from start to finish, and even his attempt at groveling at the end misses the mark.
Daisy is a wonderful heroine aside from her attraction to Jimmy the jerk (seriously? She could have had for goodness sake!). She is snarky and sassy, and isn't shy about putting Jimmy in his place. She deserves better than him, and the fact that she forgives him so easily is a huge mark against her.
Unlike the previous books, there are no suspense elements in this book. Instead, the conflict in entirely internal to Jimmy and Daisy's relationship. While they have strong chemistry, and their interactions are amusing, Jimmy's behavior is unforgivable.
The book's only saving grace is the secondary characters. The Burnout family is incredible. The camaraderie between the brotherhood is fantastic and the way the sisterhood (Sarah, Abby and Tildy) embrace Daisy so wholeheartedly is amazing. Milo the Barfly at Maria's bar is also a delight; his antics are laugh-out-loud funny, and I hope he gets his own HEA with the classy Alma.
In sum, despite Jimmy and Daisy's disappointing romance, the story is entertaining. Doc's book is next and I wonder if we will meet his mystery woman.
first read this series three years ago. loved it then, still very much enjoying it this time round. not so much mc but the guys are a brotherhood, the survivors of an army ranger team who faced the worst horrors of war, and their bikes are important to them .. they accept themselves as bikers but Shooter was brought up in a 1%er club and never wanted that particular conditioning but accepted the good of that lifestyle and encompassed it with his team on their return home. a tight knit group that find strength and give strength to each other. lots of triggers for various types of abuse so those who are affected by that type of storyline should avoid the series. great alpha males ... sassy, quirky females who have great inner strengths. romances you can't help but love. very well written, with continuing storylines behind the romances.
Jimmy aka "Easy” lost his leg in Iraq 3 years ago and has had a hard time getting back to life, let alone a sex life. Daisy has moved to Rapid City to start over and get away from her past of bad decisions. When the clothes are off (her's anyway) these two fit together in every way. The rest of the time, Easy is an ass.
I loved Daisy. She was a strong woman who took no crap. Well, except from Easy. He would keep walking away and she would keep coming back for more. We get our HEA though when he finally smartens up and realizes he does love her and needs to go chase her.
Lame. What happened?? Shooter was so great. Tex wasn't as great story-wise but it was quite possibly the hottest book I’ve ever read. Hawk was disappointing and now we have Easy which barely counts as anything. I’ve been waiting for Doc’s book since Preacher so I really hope that’s a return to the goodness.
Easy is not a story of perfect love with perfect characters. It’s a story of a young man who is mad at the world because he suffered through a terrorizing war, the loss of more than one of this “brothers” in the war and lost his leg in the same explosion. He wanted to die when it happened and has never adjusted to life without having two legs and without feeling guilty for surviving. He’s mean to his only family, the characters from the previous books, but they understand his emotional struggle. When he reaches a point where he feels emotionally stable to have sex with a woman and let her see his stump, he accidentally hears that woman ridiculing him for being one-legged. He then spirals back down and becomes even more of an ass. But, really, who can blame him? Daisy is another emotional train wreck going down the rails. She’s had a terrible childhood with no positive role models. She has made bad choices in men and ends up in town after being abandoned and abused by her boyfriend. She’s a poster picture of the pierced, tattooed bad girl. She hits town and gets a job as a waitress and has sex with Easy in the restaurant bathroom willingly. No force, no seduction, could have said no but the truth is she wanted to have sex with him before he drags her to the bathroom. Then we begin the journey of watching both Easy and Daisy try to figure out exactly what their relationship is. They have frequent sex and Easy stays emotionally detached until Daisy calls it quits and leaves. Then the light goes on for Easy and he starts making changes to his life so that he can go get her. He goes after her and does some classic groveling to get her back. If you are looking for a romance with a perfect love story, where two well-adjusted happy people meet, fall in love and commit to each immediately, this story is not for you. I felt Easy’ s pain and understood his anger with the world in general. That doesn’t mean I say it was right but I understood it. It’s not an uncommon problem today with many war vets. I got that Daisy had a hard life and had a reason for some of the bad choices she made. This is a story of love and redemption for two damaged people who think they are totally mis-matched but learn they are soul mates. It was a beautiful love story and Easy’s actions to get Daisy back were heart-wrenching to me. I loved re-visiting the characters from Shooter, Tex and Hawk. Sarah’s emotional connection with Easy was especially moving.

DNF'd. I was listening to the audiobook and I had like an hour left but it wasn't worth finishing.
Maybe it's just because I've been in a very crappy mood lately, but I hated this book. What the hell happened to this series? I loved Shooter and I loved Tex. Hawk was alright and then we get to Easy-whose book I was looking forward to the most and...this is what we get. How is it that I was annoyed by every female in this book? Mainly Daisy and Sarah. Sarah needs to learn to mind her own business and Daisy? Oh my god. She was the most annoying, desperate, pathetic heroine I've known in a long time. Easy was so right. She was always in his face, always crossing boundaries. She gets annoyed when he leaves after fucking her yet continuously opens her legs for him. What do you expect? Everything Daisy said and did aggravated me. She wasn't funny, she wasn't cool, she wasn't tough to me. She just seemed to be trying too hard and I just couldn't take anymore. I'm amazed I made it as far as I did with this book. And Milo-he was in the book way too much. I didn't find him funny or charming either. The story just felt like it was dragging because it got to be repetitive. Easy and Daisy fucks, he ignores her, she gets frustrated, she talks to Milo, hangs with the girls and repeat, and repeat. I didn't blame Easy for ignoring her. Some of the things she'd say to him would have me ignoring the girl too. I can see why he was so easily annoyed with her. I honestly think Easy needed another love interest because this one is just....don't even put her with anyone else. She just needs to be taken out of the story completely.

I was really intrigued to read Easy's story because he came across as the most complex of the heroes in this series. Unfortunately, my expectations weren't met. As far as I've seen, I'm the only one who didn't care for the heroine, but she really rubbed me the wrong way. Easy was a jerk at times, but that's been his character since Shooter, so it didn't surprise me. In fact, I was glad the author kept his personality the same mix of darkness and shadowed vulnerability he's had in the previous books. Given what he's gone through, I felt it was an honest portrayal of a severely wounded veteran. However, I never really understood Daisy. She came off extremely pushy, which at first was fine but it rapidly became overbearing. She pursued Easy in an effort to have a quick hookup, but then freaked when he treated her as such and didn't pursue a relationship. These contradictions happened constantly, and while Easy acted like a jerk, she was equally distasteful. Their relationship happened out of nowhere. There was no build to their emotions for each other. She just unabashedly pursued him, often spurred on by his friends, while he showed no interest in having a relationship. And then a major conflict comes to a head, and suddenly they're together and he's trying to "fix" his mistakes. It all just seemed haphazard, which is unfortunate given how much I liked the first book in the series.
This was by get my favorite in the burnout series to date. Greatly enjoyed the emotional impact of Jimmy and Daisy. Loved their happy ending. He deserved everything she gave him.
I had a hard time initially finding that soft spot to like in him. He won me over as did she.
Some very unfortunate events that brought these two together for a happily ever after, well at least I hope it will be. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
This is Easy’s and Daisy’s tale in Dahlia West’s Burnout Series! This story is so unique with him being the only amputee in their group to make it back home; Dahlia does not dissappoint. I’ve said it once before and I’ll say it again it’s not just the romance, sex, and awesome plot I’m looking for when I read a decent book or series, but when you run into an author who can add real, raw human emotions and real life characters to their art, it just takes it to that next level for me. 🤩🤩These are two very strong personalities and I like that Dhalia shows the pros/cons of that as well. 👏🏾👏🏾😁
I have to be honest the naughty scenes in this one got me so wet and i don’t know why. 🤔😜😁😂😍
I do feel she rushed the story towards the end, but if she hadn’t it might have felt like the story was dragging. So meh, maybe not.🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🫤We didn’t get an epilogue on this one but she’s been carrying over previous characters storylines into the next book; not that you can’t read these as a standalone, because you can. There’s always a brief description of the past, but I wouldn’t recommend that unless you are worried about a trigger warning because the in depth knowledge you’ll have of this group is truly entertaining and fun! 😁😜
After Tex, I really wasn’t motivated to keep going in the series. Again Tex was a great story, the BDSM in it just wasn’t my cup of tea, but it showed a different side to BDSM which I REALLY appreciated and it helped me decide if I would ever cross that line and how far I would go. 😉🤔😉 Anyway, since the series is part of my Audible membership this month I will power on. Especially, since I’m feeling really lucky about that right about now.
Besides with the storyline carrying over I’m not too worried, but we’ll see in the last book where Doc’s journey takes us and if Easy and Daisy’s continues!😉
Easy’s and Daisy’s tale has been a roller coaster ride of emotions so I can’t wait to listen to the last book!
Okay I liked this as well or more then book one. It was a really good book. I just loved Easy. To be honest I was not certain how I felt about Easy in book 1-3 but we really got to know him in this story.
Easy had some serious issues and it was more then him missing a leg. He had a lot of fears, hurt, wants, needs, and desires. Along with this he carried a lot of mental scares. I found it funny the way Easy and Daisy first hooked up. He was not really interested in her. She was far from his type. At least from the outward appearance it would appear that way. To be honest they were a perfect match it was just neither one could see that yet.
I really like Daisy she truly was a strong woman and had a lot of sass. She was in need of a job and I think Marie’s was the perfect job for her. I loved how she handle the rough men that came in there and love how she dealt with Milo.
Once again in this story we get to see how close the boys really were and how much they truly loved their women.
This book will work fine as a standalone but if you really want to know the characters I would suggest the previous books. I am truly liking the series. I did the whispersync with this book and thought the narrator did a good job.
Well this was surprising... In general, this whole book consisted of 3 hookups, a whiney heroine and a jackass. For me the saddest part was that the characters of the earlier books, such as Sarah, were really annoying here - I get that Easy was their friend, but there is a point where you stop convincing yourself and everybody around you that he is a lost soul and admit that he is simply an ass. Also, it would probably be better to stop encouraging somebody to push this hard for somebody. Nope, for me it was just pure fantasy - there was no way in hell that this would happen in a real world. Then there is the sudden shift and an addition of a shady cop, a prostitution charges and many other things, which one leads to a bigger chaos. Also, the whole change of Easy's character was just not here - one moment he is a jackass who doesn't care about anything, the next minute he is in love. Also, the time and placement of the action is quite funny - how the hell the characters move from the original place to Daisy's home, that I do not know - teleportation maybe. This was just one hot mess and the 2 stars are only for the tattoos and Adam, which I surprisingly liked. It is quite a shame as I really loved the first book.

3.8 This was pretty good, though I think we didn't see enough of Daisy and Easy time. I mean they had sex 4 times and none of those times did he stick around afterwards yet when she left town he followed and brought her back. There just was not any time they were together this amount of time for this to happen. He finds out she was arrested for prostitution then he jumps in her s*** and calls her a whore without asking questions or letting her offer one. After he was the one who caught her in the bathroom and jumped her bones not the other way around and never knew her name.. Why didn't he ask then if he wanted to know.
Jimmy “Easy” Turnbull has been nothing but angry since losing his leg to a roadside bomb in Iraq. He harbors a lot of resentment, and doesn’t see the things he once wanted happening now. Daisy has a secret. She has been in South Dakota for a few months when she encounters Easy. Their relationship gets off to a pretty rocky start as Easy doesn’t want a relationship and every time Daisy tries to get close he walks away. Will they be able to work through that resentment or will her secret ruin everything she is building in Rapid City? I enjoyed this book, it doesn’t have any of the intrigue of Shooter or Hawk, but it is a good read.
My complaint about this book is the same as everyone else’s. Easy treated Daisy HORRIBLY throughout the entire book and she just kept coming back for more. The way he would use her for sex and then literally walk on the door without a word (leaving her feeling dirty and used)every time made me ragey. And we’re supposed to believe she fell in love with that??? The things that he said to her and the way he humiliated her when he found out about her past was something you couldn’t come back from. His grovel at the end was not nearly good enough but hey, at least he didn’t sleep with anyone else which is something this author likes to do.
