Amsterdam-born photographer and filmmaker Ari Marcopoulos (1957) has become a familiar name to skaters and rockers, as well as to artists and international scenesters. Ad Rock is a concise portrait of Adam Horovitz from the Beastie Boys, filled with years of photographs of the musician at work, with his friends and at home. Following Marcopoulos' study of the internationally renowned snowboarder, Terje Haakonsen, it is the second in a series of portrait books that features subjects up close and unguarded, simply living their lives.
Ari Marcopoulos has work in the current international traveling exhibition Beautiful Losers , and recently had solo exhibitions at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in California and P.S.1 in New York. His photographs are regularly featured in The New York Times Magazine .
