Safe With Me

Rate this book
I ran from danger and landed here in Kelly Lakes hoping to put my past behind me. I didn’t expect to almost faint into the arms of a cop upon arrival.

You know the type. The one with the heart of gold and bedroom eyes.

Mike is also seven years my junior… and my new boss’s son.

It doesn’t matter if our chemistry is immediately undeniable. Or if I catch him watching me with pure yearning on his handsome face. I’m not looking for a relationship after what I just survived.

Good thing Mike swears up and down he doesn’t believe in true love.

Except he goes out of his way to protect me, to understand me. To keep me safe every time I feel afraid. He’s chasing away the dark shadows that linger, even in this idyllic town. But as our electrifying passion burns hotter, the danger I thought I’d escaped returns leaving me with an impossible choice.

Stay with the man I’m falling helplessly in love with or leave to keep him safe?

I love small-town romances and Rose is a new-to-me author.....how did I never hear of her??

👮‍♂️Set in the quaint town of Kelly Lakes, the story follows Lila, a woman trying to escape her past and Mike, a local cop determined to protect her.

👮‍♂️The intense chemistry and deep emotional connection between the main characters made their relationship genuinely compelling. Reverse age gap is a favorite trope of mine and it's rare to find a story done well. This one is perfection!

👮‍♂️This storyline masterfully blends suspense with heartfelt emotion, creating an utterly captivating romance.

👮‍♂️The novel reveals the transformative power of vulnerability, demonstrating how opening one's heart can lead to profound emotional connections and personal growth.

You'll love this, if you enjoy:
*Small Town Romance
*Slow burn that leads to 🔥🔥🔥
*Protective Hero
*Boss's Son
*Emotional Healing
*Reverse Age Gap

Mike and Lila gave me many swoon worthy and steamy moments in Safe With Me. An age gap and a dash of suspense that definitely worked in favor of Mike and Lila’s story. These two were so good together all because of the chemistry and overall connection.
The side characters Claudia, Jake and Peyton were amazing as always and they have their own books fyi.
If you’re into a cinnamon roll hero with a protective heart and dirty mouth then Mike Russo is your man. Also if the trope older woman younger guy is your favorite then Lila and Mike will make you smile and fan yourself.
A feel good romance with a lot of heart.

I tell you what, reverse age gap is sooo underrated and one of my all time favourite tropes 🤩

4⭐️ 2.5🌶️

Reverse age gap
Small town
Cinnamon roll MMC
Slow burn

This was such an easy read! I read this book in one sitting!

Ok so, the book follows Lila as she moves to the small town of Kelly Lakes to get away from her stalker ex boyfriend. On her first day there she meets cute cope Mike who just so happens to be the son of the man she is set to be working for in town.

Mike from the start is protective and sooo swooney! And when Lila’s car gets keyed and random threatening notes start appearing, Mike does everything in his power to protect Lila and get to the bottom of who is doing this.

I guessed who the person was, however it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the book ❤️

When Lila goes to Kelly Lakes to start her new life and lay low she never thought her first interaction with a cop named Mike Russo would mean anything. Sure he is good looking but she is trying to “hide.” Can her new budding friendship with the kind officer lead to more? Can he protect her from what she is hiding from? This is a very sweet small town romance with a cinnamon roll hero and the lady he can’t stop thinking about. There is also a story about finding your courage when trying to move on from trouble and start anew. There also might be a topic difficult for some talked about so check any TW. Small town romance lovers with an older woman/younger man and a side of action enjoy! Told in first person and dual POV.

I absolutely loved this romantic suspense by Stephanie Rose. I adore her characters and settings- there is always a feeling of a warm familiarity. She creates these people and places and you don’t want to let them go. Her characters are richly written and the side characters are always interesting too- much like real life.
This is a second generation so if you’ve read the other Kelly Lakes books then you’ll enjoy revisiting some friends. If not then this is also great as a stand alone (but will most likely entice you to read more by Stephanie Rose!)
There is an age gap but not enough to be uncomfortable (in my opinion). Mike is sweet and protective and falls hard for Lila. Lila is trying to get away from a crazy ex and makes the brave decision to move to a new town. She’s just as taken with Mike as their relationship goes from friends to more. The suspense is well done (I hope we see more romantic suspense from Stephanie Rose!) and there’s family angst from both Mike and Lila’s sides. The scenes where Mike and Lila have each other’s backs are really great, I really enjoyed seeing Lila’s tough Philly girl come out too!
Sweet and protective romance, suspense, steamy scenes and characters you’ll love make this a book you’ll want to grab right away!

This second-generation novel is set in Kelly Lakes, NY, and it can be read as a standalone. Though readers will love reading the other Kelly Lakes books first to meet Mike as a teenager. It is written in first person from an alternating dual POV and ends with a HEA.
Mike is all grown up. At 25, he is a policeman in Kelly Lakes. He has a loving relationship with his dad, his stepmom, his little sister, and extended family in town. He still carries some baggage in the relationship he has with his mother and the way his parents’ divorce affected him. When he meets Lila (32), he falls without even realizing it. Lila is on the run from her st@lking ex. I love that she is tough even when she is vulnerable. I loved how Mike was able to provide comfort and a feeling of safety to her. I adored how Lila saw Mike for his heart and not his age. I really liked the friendship they formed before they moved into a physical relationship. They built trust first. I loved that. Their physical scenes were steamy and emotional. I adored how they came to depend on each other.
This was a steamy read with some romantic suspense. This the author’s first foray into suspense, and I think she did it very well. There was just the right amount of wondering and tension in the story. Sensitive readers should check the author’s CW/TW prior to reading. It was fun to read about an adult Mike and I was unreasonable proud of the man he had become. I was thrilled that he got a HEA with someone like Lila. I loved it.
I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book.

I love when an author you love goes outside “normal” if you will. I devoured this book and love the romantic suspense that Stephanie doused this book in! I ate it up. And loved going back to Kelly Lakes! And little Mike, it was so awesome to see him become this amazing man! And Lila, she’s a strong and spunky woman and her and Mike are PERFECTION! Just like this book!

I love when my romance books show both side of small town! The sweet and adorable side. The absolutely amazing people. And then little bit of suspense because not everyone is a pure heart. Safe With Me by Stephanie Rose let you experience both sides. Mike is an incredible book boyfriend. Caring. Protective. Charming. Courageous. Lila came to Kelly Lakes for a new beginning, running away from the fear and insecurities of her last broken relationship. And Mike gave her everything. Peace. Love. Safety. A home.

✔️ small town
✔️ hurt - comfort
✔️ age gap( Lila is older by 7 years)
✔️ cop hero

Mike didn't have a good example of loving parents but that didn't stop him from being a perfect gentleman. He loves his town and his job. He is relatively new as a cop and most people in town still thinks of him as Mikey, the Russo kid. But he is hardworking and honest and brave. So he is perfect for the job. The first meeting with Lila ignited something inside his heart. A strong need to protect her and a fierce longing and an intense attraction. But he also sensed that Lila has issues and secrets and he gave her all the space while being an attentive and caring friend. Lila is a sweetheart. She is so nice and adorable and helpful. It hurt me to see how she was treated poorly by her parents or brother and then harassed by her ex. The small town really embraced her. Not only Mike. She began feeling happy and hopeful. But then she started getting threats and it broke her. She was already scared of falling for Mike and putting him in danger. The dangerous incidents were almost too much. But again, Mike didn't let her run. He did every single thing in the right way and his family rallied behind them too. It was quiet a change of speed. It was all swoony and slow burn and heartwarming initially when Mike and Lila slowly came closer. Then the suspense part dropped just when they gave in to their passion. It was all spicy and adrenaline rush after that..till they resolved the issues. Safe With Me is an enticing combination of swoon, spice and suspense.

Idk what is up with all the secret past reads or trying to escape the past type reads, but I am loving it!!

Lila moves to a small town trying her hardest to escape her past. Her first day in town she meets this super cute cop, Mike, who just so happens to be her new bosses son.

Throughout the book Mike is trying everything in his power to figure out who keeps leaving Lila these threatening letters and other things that keeps happening. He is so protective over her I am obsessed with it!!! The suspense had me on the edge of my seat the whole time! Trying to figure out with Mike as the book kept progressing.

I can say Lila is definitely one that can hold her own! And I love a good FMC who isn’t afraid to stand up or hold herself up as a badass!

A great romantic suspense!
When she lands in small-town Kelly Lakes, Philly girl Lila is on the run from a stalkerish ex. She runs into the handsome young cop, Mike, the minute she arrives in town. I love the instant connection they both feel, but of course, because reasons, they are both reticent to start a relationship. They embark on a lovely courtship that’s disguised as a friendship, as they battle demons real and imagined. When their past catches up to Lila and Mike, they must work together to defeat a common foe.

I knew I was going to love this book!

I loved the characters, the plot and the steamy scenes. Mike was so dreamy! Absolutely adored his character. Lila was so inspiring. I really liked her journey throughout the story.

I also found the romance to be quite romantic. These two really had a deep connection and I liked seeing their romance blossom. Plus I think it added more intimacy in the steamy scenes.

A great romance with a lot of heart and some suspense. Would recommend!

I’ve been deep into dark romance and fantasy lately, so I decided to switch things up with the ARC of Safe with Me by Stephanie Rose. From the very start, I was hooked. By chapter 4, I was already smitten with Mike, our local cop & MMC and I knew this book was going to be a good one.

This isn’t just a small-town romance; it’s packed with suspense as we try to figure out who’s stalking and harassing our FMC, Lila.. and Mike will do anything to protect what’s his.

I also appreciated the depth of Mike’s relationship with his mom. As someone who’s had to cut ties with their own mother, I found his struggles and emotions incredibly relatable.

Overall, this book was an amazing read, and I highly recommend it!

Sweet, emotional and adult romance, police romance, Heroine in danger, slow burn, age gap (she's 7 years older)

This was a sweet, emotional and captivating read!

You have Mike, the male main character, who is a sweet police officer. When Lila, the female main character, comes into his small town looking spooked but absolutely gorgeous...he wants to know more about her. Also, at first meeting, she practically passes out in his arms. Swoon.

Lila left her town to get away from a crazy EX, hoping to start a new life. She never expects a handsome police officer who is seven years younger than her to ignite a fire within her.

This book is a slow burn that pays out about halfway through the book...making for delicious tension and steam. I enjoyed this so much! Also,  man in uniform...YUM.

This swoony, age gap (she's older) romance features a small town cop that believes love only hurts. He's had a traumatic childhood that has jaded his views on love until he meets Lila who flips his whole world upside down. His protective streak goes into full effect when she thinks her creepy ex is looking for her. This was such a delicious slow burn that just hit the right spot with the swoon and small town!

I loved falling into this small town and falling for these characters. Lila and Mike had just the cutest meet cute - always great when the MMC catches the girl *que the swoon*

I loved the twist Stephanie took with this book too. I LOVE a mystery woven into my love story. Trying to figure out who or what is lurking in the shadows and where the next clue will drop always gives me the good feels and joy of figuring it out! Love diving into it all.

Delilah Johnson and Officer Mike Russo are worth every moment with them, watching these two find their way to each other, and finding trust when they thought none could be had.

Narrators did an AMAZING job as well on this!! Gobbled these two up!

With this book we return to Kelly Lakes, an imaginary town located somewhere in Upstate N.Y. near the Lake George and Saranac Lake area. In this story Mike Russo who was introduced as the 14-year-old son of Jake Russo, in the first book in this series An Unexpected Turn’s male protagonist. In this book Mike is all grown up, now a 25-year-old Kelly Lakes police officer. After their divorce Mike’s mother tried to poison him against his father and then ironically sent him to live with his father when she remarried a man who didn’t want him around. Mike has a very strained with his mother because even twenty years after their divorce she still resents Mike’s relationship with his father and his now wife Peyton and half-sister Keely who adores him. Despite the fact that his father in Unexpected Turn falls in love with and marries Peyton, to whom he’s still happily married, and his Aunt Kristina whom we met in Starting Back, who also went through a painful divorce but is now happily remarried to Leo, or that his stepmother Peyton’s BFF Claudia (his honorary aunt) featured in Raising the Bar, is also happily married to his immediate boss, Mike is afraid of emotional intimacy. He doesn’t trust love. So he’s kept every woman he’s dated at arm’s length letting them know that marriage is not in his future. So yeah, despite the fact he has ample evidence of so many happy healthy marriages (including his BFF Aaron’s) because his mother used him as a pawn against his father in their divorce, he doesn’t trust marriage. Is afraid of being hurt. Which to me is ridiculous.
At least our female protagonist in this story Delilah or Lila as she’s called has a few legitimate reasons for not wanting to fall in love with Mike despite their immediate chemistry and Mike demonstrating what a great guy he is. At 32 years old she’s seven years his senior. Which in most cases means the woman is far more mature than the man. But as she says, “Mike is an old soul.” She just started working for Mike’s father as his office manager. If they were to start a relationship and it went badly would it affect her employment? And the big reason is the reason Lilah left her life in South Philly behind to start over in Kelly Lake where Claudia is pretty much the only person she knows. It was to get away from Ted her stalking ex who had the potential to become a dangerous ex. After this guy forced Lilah to run away from her whole life, job, friends, etc. she’s got serious PTSD like symptoms. She has IMHO valid reasons for not being ready to trust another man.
At the same time that Mike and Lilah officially become a couple someone begins repeating the stalkerish actions she experienced in Philadelphia. Trying to figure out who it is, (although they all believe it’s Ted) before he can cause Lilah real harm is the suspenseful part of this story. It’s also where the book gets its title from as Mike repeatedly reassures Lilah “You’re safer with me.” But is she? The strange thing about this is the author pretty much reveals to readers who it is that is leaving Lilah threatening messages, but it takes several more chapters before the Kelly Lakes P.D. figures it out.
Not to worry though because this is a contemporary romance so despite all the reasons the two protagonist believe they have for not becoming a couple, the heart wants what the heart wants and love will certainly win out in the end.

Fantastic Story & Narration🎧 Gripping & Heartfelt!

Safe With Me
By: Stephanie Rose
Narrated by: Rose Dioro, Sean Masters

A fantastic small-town romantic suspense that captivates your attention and tugs at your heartstrings the entire time. This is my first visit to Stephanie Rose’s “Kelly Lakes”, and it definitely won’t be my last because I found the characters of the earlier books to be intriguing and I want to learn more about them. That being said, each book stands on its own, so you can enjoy them in any order, because the author details everything you need to know about earlier characters, so you never feel lost or like something is missing. Lila’s obsessive ex wreaked havoc on her life, and it left her fearful of him, so she upped and left her life behind to start over with a new job and place to live. Arriving in town, the first person she runs into is Mike Russo, a police officer and the son of her new boss. Mike sensed there was more to Lila’s coming to town, but he did not press the issue because he knew he’d be seeing her again. There was an instant connection between these two, and he was protective of her from the start. It was great watching these two get to know each other and see their relationship morph into something so much more. When her past demons come back to haunt her, the first thing she wants to do is run, not running scared but to keep those around her safe, except this time she has a protector in her corner. This fast-moving, multi-layered story has the perfect balance of drama, angst, mystery and suspense that keeps you guessing and on your toes, twists and turns, heartfelt emotions and a slow burn, but so worth the wait romance. There are some fabulous side/secondary characters, such as meddlesome women, who add a comedic touch, which lightens things up nicely. The writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. Stephanie Rose, that you for this fantastic story and the wild, emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Rose Dioro and Sean Masters did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life, giving each a voice that was fitting for a perfect portrayal of each. Dioro was a natural in Lila’s role, grasping every aspect of her personality, from her strength and determination to her vulnerabilities. Masters did the same in Mike’s role and was just as amazing, showcasing his personality, his protectiveness, calmness and a force to be reckoned with when it mattered. Both were fantastic at performing the roles of the side and secondary characters, too. They set the ideal tone for the story, expressed the character’s emotions in their performance and had you feeling them all. These two are a great pairing, with voices and talent that complement each other and a captivating performance that rivets you to the story. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to.

Spice - 🌶🌶🌶

Trope - strangers to friends to lovers, FMC on the run, cop MMC, reverse age-gap (7 years), curvy FMC, boss's son, neighbours, forced proximity, toxic ex, cinnamon roll yet protective MMC, found family, he falls first, insta-connection, slow burn, suspense, small town, emotionally charged,
Bonus chapter - 1

This book was a perfect mix of sweet small-town romance and suspense. I listened to it on Audible, and damn, Sean Master's voice as Mike was so distracting. I had to rewind the book multiple times because I wasn't paying attention to anything but his voice, which is why it took me twice as long to finish.

Lila moved to Kelly Lakes after her toxic ex wouldn't take no for an answer. On her first day in the new town, she almost fainted when she met Mike, the town's cop, who is seven years younger than her. She's not mentally prepared for a relationship, and he doesn't believe in love, yet there's something neither of them can ignore or hide.

I’ve always liked the strangers-to-friends-to-lovers trope, yet it never fails to surprise me with the unique bond between the main characters.

Mike was adorable. Even when he didn't know her, he was drawn to her and protective of her. His chemistry with Lila was so sweet and wholesome. The way he was her safe place made my heart swell with contentment - everyone deserves a Mike. He was also a damn good cop.

The subtle flirting was what I loved most; it was so cute.

Jake was a good dad, and I feel Mike became such a good man because of how his own dad was.

I loved how the spice came out of love and comfort. These two were fire together, and every time they drew closer, an inferno ignited in me - they were so captivating😭. Mike and Lila were perfect together, and I liked how they weren’t just each other's soulmates but were also willing to fight for each other and their love.

Lila was such a wonderful character — sweet, hardworking, and strong. There was a constant threat hanging over her, and I couldn't imagine how she felt about the whole stalker ex situation. It was frightening enough to read — it might have been scarier for her, yet she kept trying to be stronger, which made me like her even more. And when she stood up for him against his mum, it was epic - it highlighted her bold personality, which was so refreshing to see.

Lila's toxic family really made my blood boil, but I was glad they didn't have much screen time in this book.

I love when romances have that hint of suspense; it adds another layer to the story, and damn, I loved every second of it - it was scary but so much fun to always be on the edge. I could see that from a mile away, and my gut kept telling me who the 'villain' was, but I wasn’t ready to accept it. But oh, I was right all along.

The epilogue and bonus epilogue were just as beautiful as the rest of the book, but I loved Mike being so strong, protective, and burly in front of Lila's family. He was even more attractive then.

Each side character, from Jude to Jake, to Claudia, to Keely, to Peyton, to Keith, to Terry and Kathy, was so well-written and evoked a homey vibe.

I also found out that Jude-Claudia (Mike's pseudo-aunt and uncle) and Jake-Peyton (Mike's dad and stepmum) have their own books. I can't wait to read them too.

I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Definitely recommended.

This is my very first Audiobook from author Stephanie Rose and wow what an explosive story it was.
You may think that not much happens in small towns, but in Kelly Lakes there is alot going on.
It all starts when Lila drives into town, she is escaping from her Ex boyfriend Ted who was obsessive and controlling and would NOT except their break-up.
So Lila has packed up her whole life and moved to Kelly Lakes and start over.
Her first hour in town she meets Mike who is a cop,and she nearly passes out in his arms, there is an instant spark between them, which leaves an impression on them both.
Their second meeting is in her workplace, she started working as an office manager for an construction company...That construction company just so happens to be Mike's Dad's construction company. So they will be seeing alot of eachother,Mike is intrigued by Lila and he knows she is hiding something traumatic....He has an overwhelming instinct to protect her no matter what had happened to her,he would make sure she felt safe.
And Lila did feel safe with him as they become really good friends, until friends is just NOT enough and they both want more.
But Lila has reservations about crossing the line with Mike, she is a bit concerned about the age gap between them...Lila is older than Mike by 7 years she is 32 and Mike is 25..Mike couldn't care less about their ages, because he knows Lila is the one for him...This is a bit of a slow burn romance but it is worth the wait when they get together.
Mike is considered a cinnamon roll character but when he is with Lila intimately and they do share some very steamy times...He is totally different and has such a dirty mouth.
Now the story does take a suspenseful turn as a mysterious person is threatening Lila and wants to destroy the love they have found with eachother.
The narration to this story is AMAZING by Rose Dioro and Sean Masters who do an excellent job at portraying Lila and Mike plus all the supporting characters in the book.
They completely captivated me and I loved listening to them.
Safe with me is a part of a series of books, but it is completely fine to read or listen without having indulged in the other books...Because even though I havent listened to the other books I was able to follow the dynamics of the story easily.
Stephanie Rose's writing is wonderful and I Found her storytelling totally addictive and I loved the characters she created for us to fall in love with.
I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook it is a fabulous story.
Brilliant.
5 Stars.

Heed any trigger warnings as it does hint at abuse in a relationship and sensitive readers may find it uncomfortable.

NO SHE DIDN'T!!!! Oh yes she did! This was SOOO freaking good! Stephanie has been a favorite for years, I think there's only 2 of her books I haven't read yet so was I NOT expecting a romantic suspense from her. She absolutely KILLED it!!

First! I was super jazzed to be back in Kelly Lakes!!! As a huge Unexpected Turn fan ( Yay Jake & Peyton) I was floored that we were now back and following Mikey--sorry, that's Officer Mike to you!

So Safe With Me gave me total Sleeping with the Enemy vibes.....now if you're young and don't know that one, think along the lines of Safe Haven(ish) Lila is leaving Philly and running away from her possessive, threatening, stalker, won't take no for an answer ex Ted and Kelly Lakes is the perfect place. Lila and Mike have sort of a dramatic meet cute outside of Claudia's Bar (Claudia from raising the Bar!) Seemingly things are absolutely perfect in this picturesque small town, Mike and Lila have heart eyes for each other, even Mike's little sister Keely loves her, everyone in town is friendly and welcoming, and her older landladies-Terry and Kathy are a hoot!

Then some odd things start to happen, vandalism? Could be neighborhood kids. Feeling like someone is watching you? Could be paranoia? Maybe. Or Maybe not. Honestly, I was definitely on the edge of my seat wondering what the hell was going on, second guessing my gut, and having the realization that maybe everyone couldn't be trusted.

As much as a wild ride Rose took us on, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the SPICEEEE cause Officer Mike's tongue....I mean mouth is lethal in the bests ways and when I think of found family? This story will always come to mind because the way Lila stood up for Mike against his toxic mom and the way Mike checked Lila's asshole parents and brother? Chef's kiss!!

This should be an automatic one click if you're ready to lose yourself in a steamy, enthralling, riveting read!

Stephanie Rose knows how to capture my heart with her beautiful stories with heartfelt emotion, relatable characters, and sizzling passion. Safe With Me has all that, adding in an intriguing, suspenseful plot that kept me on the edge of my seat while also pulling at my heartstrings! Lila has relocated to Kelly Lakes after some horrible incidents involving her ex-boyfriend. She wants a fresh start and leave all the chaos and fear of her past life behind. What she finds first is Officer Mike Russo. They have instant chemistry, but with both their pasts, and their age difference, they take it slow. Mike has never wanted a relationship, but Lila makes him want everything. As they get closer, and their feelings grow deeper, someone is out to drive Lila away. Mike wants to protect Lila and keep her safe, but Lila doesn't want Mike, or the new family she has found, to get hurt because of her. As things escalate, will Mike be able to find who is behind this before it's too late? I loved Lila and Mike, they were so perfect for each other. He showed her how strong and resilient she could be, and she showed him that love was worth taking a chance. Mike is the perfect book boyfriend with his contrasting sweetness, alpha-protectiveness, and dirty dominance! It was fun returning to Kelly Lakes and seeing past characters that I love, and meeting new quirky people from town who made this story even more fun and heartfelt. The twists and turns in this story built slowly, but soon had my heart pounding. I was completely consumed by this breathtaking, passionate and addictive story!
Narrators Rose Dioro and Sean Masters are superb storytellers! They embodied these characters perfectly, bringing them to life so clearly. Their ability to convey such emotion from the dramatic to the funny, from panic to passion, and all the sweet moments in between was superb. They helped to make this breathtaking love story even more captivating!

As a life-long resident of either PA or NJ, Philly has a special place in my heart as I was born there, went to college there, and visit there often. Our heroine, Lila, in Safe With Me lived in Philly, and unfortunately had to flee from her ex who gave her the creeps for good reason.

I believe this is the author’s first foray into romantic suspense and it was just the perfect amount of nail biting for me. I am a bit of a scaredy cat so prefer not to read anything too violent or dark, but would gladly take Lila’s place in real life if it meant having a younger, hot and handsome hero look after me. Swoon!

Officer Mike Russo lives in Kelly Lakes and noticed the newcomer right away. He spied her peeking in windows and was intrigued and curious. She was a bundle of nerves but I admire her strength to start over in this small town. When one door closes another one opens and through a connection, found a great job which so happened to be working for Mike’s dad.

The main characters have loads of chemistry and I love how they trust and depend on one another. I also adore all of the interconnecting characters. While this book was a bit slow for me at times, there were a lot of details woven in, great pacing and character development, and of course, the build-up of catching the bad guy.

There was some family drama which made me sad, angst, and of course lots of sweet and steamy times once Lila let down her guard. Loved how protective Mike was and how he only had eyes for her, and how he committed his life to serving the community. And when Lila feels cornered watch out, her Philly girl (it’s a real thing) shines through as she is not about to be intimidated.

I love the author’s description of Kelly Lakes and all the townsfolk, and am looking forward to reading more in this series.

Whatever you want me to call you, you’re all mine."

Lila has relocated to Small Town USA in order to escape her stalking ex-boyfriend when she quickly finds herself wrapped up in a new friendship with her police officer neighbor. Officer Mike Russo is the poster child for good guys, and he’s hot, but he’s also her boss’s son, and she’s just not ready to explore a new romantic connection. besides, even though Mike is immediately intrigued by the new girl in town, too much childhood baggage has him completely opposed to the idea of relationships and love.

but as they get closer and Lila reveals her secrets, Mike can’t help but fall in her orbit and want to protect her, especially when she starts getting threats in her new home. is it possible they could let themselves crave more than friendship, too?

Safe with Me is a small town romantic suspense perfect if you’re looking for a quick read and an HEA!

💭This was my second book from this author and I was so excited to see her dip her toes into romantic suspense! It's a genre that's been growing on me lately, and she did not disappoint. The story starts off really sweet, I absolutely adored the meet-cute between Lila and Mike. It's one of those scenes that just sticks with you.

Mike is totally that golden retriever type of book boyfriend, super loyal, protective (I mean, he's a cop, so no surprise there), and just downright lovable. Their relationship unfolds as a slow burn from friends to lovers, which I always appreciate. And while there wasn't any real forbidden love drama since Mike's parents were cool with them being together, it was still engaging to watch their connection deepen.

I have to be honest, I pretty much figured out who the culprit was the first time the character was introduced. I'm not sure if the author intended for it to be that obvious, but I wish it had been a bit more challenging to figure out, it would have kept me on the edge of my seat even more.

That said, it was still a solid effort, especially for her first dive into this genre! I'm excited to see where she goes from here.
