A new to me author with a book that didn't disappoint! Plenty going on which kept me reading, and every chapter ended almost open, so that obviously I wanted to keep on reading to see what happened next. Was only a short read, but the author managed to convey well, the spookiness of the abandoned house, and plenty happened throughout. Great read, and will look for a future full length read from this author so I can get completely lost in the story. Would recommend.
Um, yes! Gah, I love twists. I’ve learned that short stories are something I thoroughly enjoy when they’re well-done…even if I want more at the end. This one met that mark! Congratulations, Ava! I look forward to reading future work! ✨
Congratulations, Ava, for your first book, I can't wait to read more !!! This was such a good read I started this morning, and I couldn't put it down until I finished it. I loved all the twists and turns and that ending was just chefs kiss
I thought this was a great short, spooky read. There was a lot of suspense, which made me want to keep reading and I was like what?!?! at the ending. Totally didn’t see that coming! Overall, this was well executed.
Incredible fast paced and kept me intrigued throughout. As everything was exposed I was shocked and then the ending had my jaw on the floor as I didn’t see it coming. It had a great atmosphere and flow leading from one thing to the next. Great read 😊
Ok. Wait... the twists in this book was giving me whiplash. When I thought everything was explained and it was all figured out, we took a big turn!!! The way Ava had us all fooled!!! This was a great thriller read. I love when a story can capture your attention right from the start and hold it through the entire book and that's exactly what this story did.
This was a page turner thriller about how someone's guilt manifests in a way that makes the subconscious come up with a way to make it seem like you're not responsible. It gives you a look into the psyche of a mentally ill person who buried all the bad things they had done and how their brain made it so that they weren't responsible for their actions.
Ava congratulations on your first book. I love this book the storyline, the twist and turns. It was such a good book so hard to put it down. It was such a good read and thank you for letting me read this book
I love this little short thriller! All the twists and turns really had me wanting to find out what’s next and the ending threw me for a LOOP!! I was so surprised. I’ve been telling all my friends about this book and how much I enjoyed it. Great way to start the spooky season!
Sadly, this was not an enjoyable read. I was excited based on the synopsis but, it failed to deliver. The end is a twist and is expected to be shocking...but it lacked that "aha" moment when everything ties together. It's not worth the read, there are other short stories out there.
This book ended up being wonderful… the twist at the end I didn’t see coming at all.
In the beginning, I was getting younger adult like Lois Duncan vibes and some of the characters I just wasn’t feeling but it got better and better. It’s a short read and I would definitely recommend it.
This was my first Ava Stone novel, but it won't be my last. The book kept me engaged, and I really thought it was great. The ending is really what put the book over the top for me. The ending solidified that fifth star and guaranteed I read more of her work!
Great twists, plot and setting. I got a little lost in it but thats okey.. There was just one dare and it was a doozy. Loved the book overall i wouldnt recommend for preteens i would say 15+ yrs old. Cant wait for the second one.
The Dare was a quick, fun, exciting ride. Full of twists and turns to keep you on your toes. I can't wait for what comes next from Ava! Highly recommend for young and adult readers!
I was not a fan of this book. For starters, I don’t see how the dare in the book deserved to be the title, I was waiting for another dare to happen the entire read that would justify the title. Secondly, this story did not make sense to me. There were so many instances where I left with more questions than were answered in the read. Overall, I would not recommend this book.
