I’ve loved so many of this author’s books but this was a bit disappointing.

Great premise, lovely characters and lots of backstory angst - and yet it seemed to be so slow and predictable. There wasn’t any credible tension - and I am getting so fed up of the hero taking so long to realise that he really does love the heroine. It feels like it’s drawn out to hit the beats rather than serve the story.

The hero’s daughter was brought in to the epilogue but I couldn’t really see it being necessary. A long, slow fairly pleasant read - but I won’t be reading this again. This book lacks all the passion, excitement and interest that was in ‘Beauty in the Billionaire’s Bed,’ or ‘Blackmailed down the aisle.’ Now that’s two books that I re read quite often and will undoubtedly read again.

This is the second book in the Ruthless Rivals series and just like the first one, it deals with slightly edgier topics than the typical Mills and Boon.

In this case .

I found this one slightly better than the first book in the series.

I like the author writing style, the intense sexual attraction etc. But not a big fan of hero having a child with another partner, heroine was pregnant and had a miscarriage with another man… heroine who had multiple casual sexual partners, they had sex the first time they met at a bar and heroine was the one who supplied the condoms. not for me a heroine with history of numerous casual sexual partners… as written sex just for physical gratification 🤢. I like heroine to have more respect for her body.. maybe next time get a vibrator?
