Book 1 ===== When genius college student David and jock ex-rugby player Matt are put together as college roommates, they're both in for a education that will change their lives. David's sheltered upbringing has left him socially awkward, a 80s fashion sense and a stick-thin physique. Matt decides to look out for the daydreaming student and teaches about some of the things he has missed out on. They quickly become best friends.
However, David's feelings for Matt grow deeper than just friendship. After a awkward encounter with a girl Matt sets him up with, David knows he only wants on thing.
But will David convince Matt to succumb to their desires? Or will it all end in disaster?
Book 2 ===== David, the geeky genius, and Matt, the jock, are happy and experiencing real love for the first time. In the height of their "honeymoon stage", however, Christmas break sneaks up and they have to go their separate ways for a month.
Both struggle with being apart for the first time in months, while also dealing with parents who want to know about girlfriends and their futures.
David's family is more accepting so he comes out to them. But Matt's family is more traditional and very conservative, however, so his month long break gives him some moral doubts. When they come back to campus this divide begins to tear at the relationship.
And when David gets involved with the LGBT group on campus and attracts the attention of a its gorgeous leader, Joshua, the relationship begins to strain.
Despite the bond they have built, Matt's reluctance to be open with their relationship is driving them apart. When Matt's parents visit and set him up with a family friend's daughter, Matt is forced to make a decision. Under all the stress of his sexuality, he kisses the girl at the end of the night but realizes it's David he really wants. But David is already at the January Prom with Joshua..
Book 3 ===== Matt has finally told his Dad about David and is dealing with his families anger and disappointment in him. He knew they wouldn't be as accepting as David's, but when Matt's father cuts him off from the family business he is devastated.
In the meantime, the two boys work on being more open with their relationship in public - its a struggle, but they both try and overcome their fears together.
Matt hasn't spoken to his parents since the confession, but one day he gets a call from his mother inviting the two boys to come spend a weekend at their family home. This weekend will test their relationship to the absolute limits. But that doesn't mean they can't have some fun, especially when a game of tennis turns very sexual.
Will Matt's parents accept their son for who he is? Will their relationship last the weekend? Will Matt show David his favorite make-out location?
This bundle was a very nice surprise and I enjoyed it more than the previous bundle by the same author.
Reading Only For You was easy and didn't take me long. I liked both the MCs and thought they came across pretty mature even though that was the one thing the narrator, Dave, was doubting about himslef.
Even if the original plot is nerd/jock id doesn't follow all the typical paths. Matt, the jock, for instance is clearly the more sensitive of the two and while Dave is in love he's not a needy or clingy.
The part where Matt isn't immediately embraced by his family once he comes out was refreshing, as it took his mother and father sometime to come around, but they did. I thought they were very well written.
The one part that really brught a smile to my face was the way Matt's father was about sports. Where I live, almost everyone, except my family, is crazy in to sports and seems to think the ones who don't think that watching hockey or running around in a track suit isn't the most fun ever! is some kind of an alien. So yeah, I could relate to that.
These stories aren't very deep and there's lack of drama but when it comes to summer reading, I would certainly recommend this bundle.
This book was an easy read and nice. Others have commented on grammar/punctuation errors and they are there but I not to the point of throwing me out of the story (just making me wish the book was paper and I had a red pen handy :P). My issue with it is that everyone was so mature! Weird, I know. But really, understanding their sexuality, coming out, the family's reactions, etc. Even when the reactions where not the best, everyone dealt with the issues and insecurities so well and rationally that it was not realistic to me. Overall the story was sweet, but bland, which is why I gave it 2 stars ("it was OK").
On a tangent - the description of the perfect mom bothered me: "Matt had the perfect mother. She was gorgeous, loving, and ready to entertain" "Matt leaned over and kissed his mother on the cheek. "Thank you for making them for me. You really are the best hostess ever."
So the perfect mom is miss Suzy homemaker/housewife/good-looking trophy? Reminds me of the old stereotype: Homemaker with the pearls and make-up on ready to serve the martini glass for her hubby ... ugg
3.5 nearly 4 stars I enjoyed this bundle, much like I enjoyed other bundles by this author, however I have a few points to make...
1) in the very beginning of the book the author has some editing issues with regard to the names of characters, which caused me to have to reread parts numerous times, but thankfully it was only for the first few pages and after that the name issue was no longer.
2) much like the authors other bundle, these are not 3 novel length books, more 3 short novellas which put together still equated to a shorter book. I managed to read the entire bundle in the space of 3 hours.
3) although I like the book, I did at times find the story to be too syrupy sweet. The reactions of their peers for example was just a little too good to be true. Sadly it's not realistic to say everyone was ecstatic that the king of the studs had discover he's gay.
Despite my points above I did enjoy the bundle and will actively look to read another book by this author.
If you are a fan of sweet GFU love stories, then I'd highly recommend this book and this author to you. ENJOY
I spent my day reading this whole bundle and while the plot, itself, was most enjoyable-which is expected of me-I found it hard to continue reading at some points. I found very many times where the writing was poor and wondered, countless times, whether it had been thrown together without i second glance. Spelling and grammar mistakes stopped my flow of reading but I carried on and I'm pleased that I did.
This story-line was so nice to continue exploring as David & Matt grew closer and closer. There were bumps in the road but the acceptance of close family members meant that they could go on and blissfully, too. Though, In every story, there is a third wheel that is not suspect to one side of the naive and smitten couple, and when he rejects him to go back to his man...Hallelujah!
Thoroughly enjoyed the plot, but was greatly dissatisfied with the quality of writing.
I loved this story and I only had one problem..... Chad Lane needs to fire his editor because there are so many incorrect words used or spelling errors. I loved the story and was really disappointed when I finished, that there were not any more to read. I've read all of Chad Lane's books and the stories are great, you just have to get over all the grammatical errors in every single book.
Really sweet series about two college guys and total opposites - David and Matt - falling in love and dealing with everything that comes with coming out.
Sweet, easy read about their relationship - most of the sex if off the page.
