Albert ΕΝΑΣ ΓΑΛΛΟΣ ΑΡΧΙΤΕΚΤΟΝΑΣ ΣΤΗ ΔΗΛΟ ΤΗΝ ΕΠΟΧΗ ΣΤΗ ΜΕΓΑΛΗΣ ΑΝΑΣΚΑΦΗΣ 1908-1911/Un Architecte Français à Délos au Temps de la Grande Fouille 1908-1911 was published on the occasion of the exhibition presented in August 2008 at the Municipal Cultural Center of Mykonos. In the summer of 1908, Albert Gabriel (1883-1972), then a young architect, joined the archaeologists of the French School of Athens (EFA) who were working on the great excavation at Delos. He would have a decisive experience there for the rest of his career, becoming one of the most talented archaeologist architects of the 20th century. One hundred years later, the exhibition reported in this catalogue offers a broad overview of the work carried out by Gabriel during his various stays on the site. The drawings presented, and in particular the watercolours, bear witness to his scientific rigour in his research devoted to the architecture of Delian houses. A series of photographs from the period provide a moving vision of the excavation at Delos and of life on Mykonos. Bilingual text in Greek and French.
