Omg this book had me on my toes the entire time, but it was amazing! Impeccable writing as always! This book picks up right where book 1 left off. We get more characters and different povs but it’s so easy to follow along. Ron’s writing is so poetic. I kept finding myself going back and forth between the pages, re-reading something I had just read. We get more of clay, Ava, Arianna, and of course Az, along with so many more characters that we met in the first book. Book 1 left off with Clay escaping, back into the real world, but not as himself. Meanwhile Ava and the rest of the crew, who is in purgatory are doing their best to find out what happened to Clay. This book gave off Hunger games vibes as well as a little bit of Phantasma, all the different trials and tribulations they went through to save not only Clay but themselves also. It’s an amazing, and emotional thrill ride. I’m excited for book 3.

This book was so good that it will be stuck in my head forever. Broken Reflections is the second book in Ron's trilogy. It picks up where book one left off, and the more you read, the more you want to know. In Broken reflection, Clay and Ava are still in purgatory, with Clay going back and forth from purgatory to the real world. We also get more of John in this book as Az is using him to do his dirty work.
The characters in this book are so colorful, and Ron did an awesome job bringing them to life.
If you only read two more books this year, I would highly recommend that you pick this series. Book three is coming out real soon, and I can't wait to read it to see what happens.

A multiple pov continuation through purgatory. Azreal, Clay, and Ava are all back in book 2 where it picks up right after the harrowing cliffhanger of book 1.
We add three other pov's John, Arianna, and Grayson.
Through Clay's trek through the afterlife we meet a new cast of curious people who help/hinder our friend's quest to be with the one he loves. Finding enlightenment might be one way to defeat the entity that is Az but will it be enough?
A few typos, and the multiple POV was a little disjointed at times. At one point we go from Arianna in a maze to back on a cot, then back in the maze...I thought maybe the first time was a dream, the way of her processing but no it was a real situation and I became very confused and had to go back to read her chapter with a fresh gaze. This is sad to see because I know the editor of this project totes this as being one of her stronger projects. I'm sure it could be easily fixed.
My other problem was the stakes. They are dead...can't be killed, they proved time and time again that their 'deaths or injuries' in purgatory are only mental pain and therefore whenever these 'life or death' situations would come up I was bored. Because what was the point? Letting go of his anger? Didn't do that, so there was no character growth.
That being said it was a good continuation but opened so many questions, I hope these questions are answered in book 3. Mainly how does Ava handle being a guardian of light and what actually happened to Clay? Will they be together or was Clay's quest ultimately a waste?
Quick read, great for those into paranormal or looking for a not preachy not Christian interpretation of the afterlife.

As the second book of author Ron Shaw's purgatory series, Broken Reflections does not disappoint! Picking up right after Echoes of Reckoning, Ron fills us in with where the characters ended up at the suspenseful end of the 1st book. He then introduces new characters along with unique twists and turns into the chaotic world of Purgatory and the dimensions that lie between that and the land of the living. Wonderful addition to this unique concept!

Broken Reflections is a dark, mind-bending story that explores identity, loss, and what it means to be truly alive. When Clay Mitchell wakes up in another man’s body after escaping purgatory, he’s thrust into a surreal world of betrayal, manipulation, and blurred realities. The book dives deep into psychological and supernatural darkness, touching on grief and the haunting cost of redemption. It’s eerie, emotional, and thought-provoking with some interesting twists.

I absolutely loved this book. You do NEED to read book 1 to understand what is happening in this book, but it never states this, so that's why I am putting this at 4.5 stars! This book is about purgatory and contains parts with Egypt and Greek gods. Never read an adventure like this! Will keep you turning the pages!

So deep and meaningful!
After "Echoes of Reckoning" (book 1 of the series), I had high expectations... And this book is everything I wanted it to be!
The story kept me guessing all the way, holding me in the mysterious darkness. I am still intrigued now... and I'm looking forward to the next book! 🙂

Ron Shaw has done it again with Broken Reflections! This book is a masterpiece that kept me hooked from start to finish. The character development of the main characters was extraordinary. The characters didn’t veer from Echoes of a Reckoning but they were expanded upon. Reading about their trials, internal struggles, and how they all come together was incredibly moving.

The story kept moving along and kept me guessing throughout. It was a fresh and engaging way to visualize the afterlife. I cannot say enough about the visual depictions throughout the book - it was done perfectly.

Ron delivered a flawless sequel and unforgettable read. I highly recommend this book for people who love independent characters, a fresh take on the afterlife and emotional depth. This is a story that will stay with you.

In Broken Reflections, Ron Shaw takes readers on a wild ride through a supernatural world that is both chilling and captivating. The unique concept of shattered reflections as a gateway to hidden truths adds an eerie layer to the narrative, and the character development is top-notch. Ava’s fierce drive to find Clay and Arianna’s strength in the face of overwhelming darkness will keep you hooked from start to finish.

With unexpected twists, emotional depth, and a masterfully crafted world, this book is a standout in the genre. If you're a fan of supernatural thrillers with real heart, Broken Reflections is a story you won't want to miss.

What a tangled web we weave...

This tale of deception experienced across the fragmented existence beyond the world of the living truly captivates the reader in both its epic saga and the sublime poetry of Ron Shaw. Continuing the story of Clay and his beloved Eva, this volume introduces more view points, helping to create a kaliedoscope of perspectives on what it means to be alive, to die, and to live beyond this mortal coil.

Also, maybe stay away from mirrors.

Ron continues his purgatory series with Clay's story right where book 1 left off.
We have five POVs, Clay, Ava, Arianna, John, Grayson.
Azreal is back and just as evil as ever. We get to learn more about his motivation. We meet new characters and powerful entities.
I have so many questions for book 3 and I cannot wait to dive into it.
Ron has a clear and easy to read style of writing even with the pov jumps. The purgatory world he has created is deep and full of more.
