Invaluable Resource for Parents of Autistic Children
This book is one of the best resources I have ever read about dealing with children with autism. It breaks down the challenges parents face into easy-to-follow chapters with sub-headings. In addition, each chapter includes a comprehensive summary that is easy to use as a quick reference tool. The material in this book is a valuable treasure for those navigating the waters of a child with autism and especially those who feel as though they are drowning in the alphabet soup of the education system. Even those intimidating acronyms are addressed in an easy to understand and totally useful way. This book is a tool, a resource and a life preserver for parents of autistic children. I found many helpful suggestions myself, as a grandparent of a young woman who is autistic. Anyone who is involved in caring for a child with autism will find this book and invaluable tool and a godsend when the solution is hard to find. The remedies offered here are practical and easily applicable. This book should be on all of the shelves of every parent or caregiver who has received the diagnosis of ASD (autism spectrum disorder). It offers hope from someone who has walked the road before you and who has blazed a trail for you to follow. The encouragement and empathy in this book are priceless and I cannot recommend it highly enough. All opinions expressed are my own.
I have a nephew that is autistic, but on a lighter scale. The tips on being patient while showing love is really good as well as the redirection tips. I find this useful. With any mental condition, show love and patience is a big proponent in Keeping any situation from getting out of hand. Doesn't mean those moments never happen. but they can define be minimized with the tips given. good stuff.
