A little of something for everyone here! Loved how I could pick this up and put it down, or even jump around! Each one was short and sweet. Some of them made me want full fledged stories. Faves include but not limited too: Praise DILF, Bound to Primal Prince, Blue Moon, Night with Blue Millionaire, And red space!
Highly recommend if you’re looking for a quick spicy alien read :)
(( I received this as an Arc and was so incredibly thankful! I was not endorsed or paid to write a review or read the content. ))
This was my first foray into alien romance so it was definitely a bit of a “culture shock.” Is alien romance my thing? I’ve discovered it’s not really my thing, but I’m also not opposed to it now. Did I enjoy the book? I actually did! Some of the stories were a bit much for my alien romance virgin self, but it was still fun to widen my horizons a bit. Each story was interesting and unique and the writing was good overall (some stories/writing better than others). Would I recommend this to everyone? Probably not, but that’s mainly a genre thing. If you’re into alien romance, definitely recommend! If you’ve never tried it before? Maybe try one a little less “crazy alien anatomy” intense first 😂
Thank you authors/publishers for the ARC of this book! I enjoyed it
I wasn’t able to read the entire 15 story anthology, but what I have read has been incredible! This book is HEFTY in all the right ways… aliens of different types mixed with some sultry chemistry with their partners. It was so much fun! I can’t wait to keep reading.
The Vibes: I mean, it's an alien romance anthology. You know the vibes. You know. YOU KNOW.
The Basics:
A collection of short stories and novelettes about getting down and dangerous with people from outer space!
The Review:
I shall confess: I am rather choosy about my alien romances. I select them sparingly; I am sometimes not in the mood for them, I shall confess. I picked up this ARC because I knew Charissa Weaks was included, and I'm so glad I did. Her contribution was great—but it's not the only story that makes this worth reading.
Standouts—
Weaks's Bound to the Primal Prince gave me everything I wanted and things I did not expect. I discovered Weaks this year, and honestly, I'm obsessed. If you love her work already, you're gonna love this. If you don't, then read this and then go on to her Witch Walker series, because she is legit. This story is an arranged marriage alien romance, in which the arrangement leads our heroine to discover that "primal prince" translates to "fuck alien". OKAY THEN.
At the same time, there's some genuine sweetness and romance and fighting monsters. I was sold on Thane and Adeira. Those crazy kids are gonna make it work. Also, he's kind of like, a fish. But not in a Shape of Water way, in a "he doesn't need to breathe underwater or under pussy" kind of way.
Resonant Drives by Erin Fulmer was another standout to me because like... You know. A girl loves some kidnapping. This does have some light dubcon, but for MEEEE, when I read a human/alien romance I kinda... want that. This is an abduction story, and it's well done.
The Twelfth Ambassador by Mindi Briar... Not to give too much away... He's like... a butterfly... A hot butterfly....
There are 15 stories in all here, however, and I truly think there's something for a lot of readers. They're on the higher end of the heat scale, some of the stories feature very humanoid creatures (like Weaks's) with a few extra appendages, while others have... Very non-human creatures. Which is to say, we're all leaving with something.
And you know what else? I didn't even realize there was ART. Each story comes with accompanying art! How cool! I'm so down for this.
The Sex:
Literally... pick it, and you'll probably find it here.
Like any anthology, you'll get great stories, you'll get good stories, and you might get a couple that aren't quite for you. But with 15 total, from an array of talented authors... This is a deal. And not just for the alien experts. The uninitiated will find something here, too!
Thanks to NetGalley and Storybook House for providing me with a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you so so much to all the amazing authors for writing this and sharing an ARC copy of it with me !!!!
Some of my absolutely favourite author writing short spicy alien romances … I’ve hit the jackpot!!! I was definitely having a blast and I was there for a long time !!! The stories were pretty short and that made the experience even more enjoyable. There was not need for us to get into the depth of the characters but we can all enjoy some good spicy times with aliens in a sci-fi setting and have the time of our lives doing it !!! The more the stories went on, the more thrilled to read the next one I was. There was not one couple or one alien love interest I was not falling in love with !!!! And the spice … oh boy, did it hit !!! I felt it through my bones !!! And thing is … not one story felt like it had less than the others !!! It truly was a work of masters put together and working for our enjoyment !!! And the tropes!!! Oh goodness, the tropes !!! From strangers to lovers to friends to lovers to forced proximity to bodyguard romance to oh so many I couldn’t write them all in here !!! But at the bottom of it all … these men, or male, or whatever, having such a mouth !!!! Wow !!!! And when I got to the end … let’s just say that by that point, I was simply dreading the last page. These short stories did feel very much like a go to sleep, good girl kinda little tale. Be prepared to be enchanted by them!!!
Thank you to BookFunnel and the authors for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
This is an anthology with one distinct commonality: aliens. There are 15 novellas, each written by a different author, with most taking place in unique universes that contain customized world-building and species.
I had a lot of fun with this! Each novella felt original, and more than one had me wishing I could read more.
Standouts to me were Charissa Weaks with Bound to the Primal Prince, Lisa Edmonds with Swept Away in Stardust, Lita Grey with Cosmic Cravings, and Megan Van Dyke with One Night with the Blue Billionaire. I really enjoyed the world-building with these and would have loved to hear even more about the MCs after the story, or even read more adventures in those worlds themselves.
While none of these novellas needed to get too deep to get the point across, I did appreciate that they made the effort of getting you acquainted with that specific planet or species to get you into the story.
This anthology truly has something for everyone. It's a very inclusive anthology with lots of diverse representation. I will absolutely encourage others to check this out once it hits shelves!
Firstly, I want to thank Flavia for the beautiful art that made me want to read this book. Secondly, thank you to authors who gave me an opportunity to read the ARC of this bad boy.
I gave it 5 stars because it quite literally has something for every lover of alien romance in here. It has comedy, banter, tension, suspense, sometimes a little bit horror-y. And the SPICE was Spicing! These authors are so talented and I look forward to reading more from all of them.
As for my fellow alien lovers, I think you should give this book a chance and don’t let the number of pages deter you! Speaking as a seasoned alien romance veteran, this has all the freak nasty things we like and you KNOOOOW what I am talking about🙂↕️🙂↕️
For the newer alien romance girlies, you are in for a wiiiiild ride of fun, sexy, and interstellar romance adventures. I 10/10 recommend this dilfdamn book ;)
ONE LAST BIG THANK YOU FOR THE ARC AND I WANT TO GET MY HANDS ON THAT CELESTIAL VERSION SO BAD ITS GORGEOUS!!
As a contributing author, I can't comment on my own piece in this anthology (except to say that it's like if The Twelve Dancing Princesses met James Cameron's Avatar, with a handsome butterfly alien).
I can, however, comment on the quality of the other stories in it, and HOLY CRAP Y'ALL. You know how sometimes you read an anthology and you have one or two favorites that stand out? Yeah, this anthology is ALL FAVORITES.
I'm so honored to have my story included alongside contributions by so many incredible authors. There is such incredible variety and talent... truly something for everybody! And don't forget the incredible character art for each story!
I am a huge fan of alien romance books and these novellas were absolutely perfect! They were great little palette cleansers that I could easily just jump into and read and kept me entertained!
I received an ARC copy of this book and am leaving an unbiased review.
As a fantasy romance lover, this book was right up my alley. There is a story for everyone, and I highly recommend visiting the anthology website to view the triggers to get an idea of what to expect from each story. I also loved how you get a sneak peak into different writing styles of each of the authors. Based on their stories, I have a few new books to add to my TBR.
My favorite story was Bound to the Primal Prince by Charissa Weaks. Would highly recommend this book, especially for the price!
✨I want to thank all 15 authors for the opportunity to read this ARC Anthology! My thoughts and opinions are my own in the following reviews. So far I have 5/10 stories read, but I'll be adding more reviews as I can get to them. All reviews have a brief summary of what each story is about, trope list you'll encounter when reading and then my review of it.✨
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thoroughly Thrashed By S.L. Choi ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Quick Rundown: Alien MMC that can obmitt pleasure inducing pheromones sets his sites on a Human FMC, convinced that she is his mate. While she finds him attractive, all the FMC wants is to retire in peace. That's kind of hard to do when the hunky Alien MMC is so tempting...
Tropes: Pleasure Pheremones, Fated Mates, Dangerous Mission, Spicy Times, Foreplay♋, after care
Review: Thrash is a hunky Alien MMC that obmitts pleasure pheromones that can be cured with a suppressant. Victoria is a stubborn human FMC that's slightly pining for Thrash, but also is denying the attraction because it's her goal to retire in peace. Once they face a cave-in while on a risky mission, all bets are off and the feelings between them heat up. While their spicy moments are sizzlin', I love how attentive Thrash is to Tori. He's just so sweet with her. Aside from the romance, action and spice, I really enjoyed the humor sprinkled in and all of the unique worldbuilding. Combined together, it made this story feel more like a complete book than just a novella. Overall, I really enjoyed this one!
Quotes: "Dangerous. That strong, sweet man was dangerous, to my sex drive and to my heart."
"As much as I liked my fellow crew, I didn't trust a bitch not to rifle through my shit. They'd steal my snack cakes, smuggled wine and smut books that got me through these long, celibate months in a hot nanosecond."
"I looked at Thrash. As usual, he carries no weapon. My nostrils flared with frustration. Was this man anything more that an aromatic aphrodisiac? How did he even end up on this team?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Red Space by S.C. Grayson ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Quick Rundown: Human FMC saves winged Alien MMC from disaster when she finds his ship cleaved in two via a distress call. Finding that his species takes fresh blood to heal, she offers his parted lips a few drops of her blood. Little does she know, sharing her blood holds a bigger, spicer meaning.
Tropes: Healing/Care, Fated Mates, Pierced Peen, Alll The Spice, Consent
Review: Eacus is a swoonworthy alien MMC who has wings, a tail, a pierced peen and drinks blood from his mate to establish a psychic connection. Natalie is a lonely human FMC that is selfless, caring and nurturing when she finds Eacus. Despite her past trauma she is resilient, using her cybernetic eye to help her gain info on Eacus' unconscious form. Once Natalie finds a way to heal Eacus, that's when things start to get toasty between them. The spice in this story is off the charts hot!🥵 Especially considering the mental bond and that they can feel what each other is feeling... whew! Overall, this was a very quick, spicy and well written read!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dream Breaker by J E McDonald ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Quick Rundown: Human FMC gets stranded on an alien planet when she runs out of credits. She turns to a Dream Walker Alien MMC to hire her out for her dreams, in exchange for credits. Little does she know, he's her fated mate.
Tropes: Humor, Fated Mates, Dreams Mixed With Reality, Spicy Dreams
Review: Khor Drath is a dream walker hottie who's been waiting centuries for his Fated Mate. Monroe is a humorous human with a great imagination and a ton of courage. I loved how Monroe's dreams were mixed with reality. It made this story a really fun and spicy read! I also loved that Khor Drath was a hardcore snacker. I'm not a pickle person, but the variety of pickles he had stashed away cracked me up. I also loved how beautiful and cool his appearance was as well. From his character to the unique world he came from, the world building was definitely very creative in this story!
Favorite Quotes: "God, his voice. So deep. It made me want to roll over and call him daddy. Space Daddy."
"This guy's appeared to be a true alien pickle aficionado."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bound to the Primal Prince by Charissa Weaks ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐(4.5)
Quick Rundown: Human FMC (political figure's daughter) has to pick an Alien Prince (MMC) to marry. Little does she know, the MMC she picks is a Primal Hunter and his scent does things to her.
Tropes: Forced Marriage, Fated Mates, Adventure, Action, Spicy Times, Extra Appendages For Extra Fun.
Review: Considering how short this story was, the worldbuilding and romance were top notch! I loved the chemistry and romantic tension between Thane and Adeira. It felt real and authentic. I also loved that there was a little bit of action and adventure tossed into the mix. There were some small parts that I would have liked to have seen a little more fleshed out, but overall this story was well written! Thane is the swoonworthy, panty melting MMC that we didn't ask for but 100% need!😍
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Resonant Drives by Erin Fulmer ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Quick Rundown: Alien MMC (they/him/colony) abducts a Human FMC to become a mate. Little does she know, he's about to rock her world.
Tropes: Alien Abduction, Fated Mates, Spicy Times, Alien Way Of Thinking, Shadow Daddy vibes.
Review: Cassiel was such an interesting character. I loved how scientifically, analytically, clinically and accurately he talked and viewed things. He had such a robotic and alien way of thinking and living before meeting Kat. This is honestly the first time I've ever encountered a character like him. I loved seeing how Cassiel was a colony of thoughts that gravitated and changed toward a more human line of thinking to be the perfect mate for Kat. Kat was a very relatable and likeable character. I think we would all have a 'wtf' moment after waking up on a spaceship after a big 'o'. One thing to note is that I would have liked Cassiels colony to have been explained a little more. For a novella this was very well written, but the colony was a lot to wrap my mind around. It was just kinda hard to envision. Still, this was a very unique and cool concept!
I was very excited to have received this ARC and I am very grateful for the opportunity. I originally wanted to read this because Charissa Weaks is one of the 15 authors that make up this anthology of novellas. I absolutely love her work and though I am new at alien romance, I wanted to give it a try because of her. I have to admit that I wasn’t able to finish the whole thing, but what I did read was great. I am pretty open to anything apparently. The alien romance did not phase me and the spice was….chefs kiss. I like that it’s a collection of short stories and I don’t have to follow a particular order. I look forward to finished the rest of the anthology. It’s great as a palette cleanser between series or bigger books.
Tempted by Celestial Bodies: An Alien Romance Anthology is an eclectic collection that brings together a diverse array of tales, each with its own unique flavor and style. From steamy romances to intriguing sci-fi concepts, this anthology offers something for everyone.
Aurelie Bell's Praise DILF! A Casino Caper kicks off the anthology with a wild and steamy adventure, and is filled with insta-lust and quirky names, making it a fun read for fans of fast-paced romance.
Charissa Weaks' Bound to the Primal Prince presents a compelling enemies-to-lovers tale set on the high seas. Though the story feels incomplete, it’ll leave readers wanting more.
Elisse Hay's Crocheter’s Guide to Alien Conservation offers a unique take on language and communication, reminiscent of the ST TNG episode with metaphor-speaking aliens. The world-building and anatomy exploration are fascinating, making readers eager for more.
Erin Fulmer's Resonant Drives explores the concept of a sentient AI with desires, providing a complete and intriguing short story. Fans of science and space travel in their erotica will find this story captivating.
J. E. McDonald's Dream Broker is a fast and spicy tale that leaves readers wanting more. The story's humor and imaginative setting make it a standout, perfect for those who wonder about the mysteries of the stars.
The anthology continues with jem zero's An Indelicate Negotiation, a truly alien encounter, and Kristin Jacques' Ratchet and Clanked, which may not appeal to everyone due to its unconventional approach.
Lily Riley's Blue Moon and Lisa Edmonds' Swept Away in Stardust both offer intense and emotional stories with strong world-building potential. Lita Grey's Cosmic Cravings stands out with its pure smut and satisfying epilogue.
Megan Van Dyke's One Night with the Blue Billionaire is a delightful tale of love found in unexpected places, despite its unappealing title. Mindi Briar's The Twelfth Ambassador and S.C. Grayson's Red Space provide contrasting experiences, with the latter's vampire bird in space being particularly memorable.
The collection rounds out with S. L. Choi's Thoroughly Thrashed and Winter Elliott's You’re It, exploring unique relationships and potential for further development.
Overall, this anthology offers a diverse range of stories that cater to various tastes, from steamy romances to intriguing sci-fi concepts. While some stories feel more complete than others, the collection as a whole provides an entertaining and eclectic reading experience.
Thank you to BookFunnel for providing me with an ARC of this anthology.
I was very excited to be selected as an ARC reader for this book. Thank you authors!
Overall this was a really fun book to read. The book consists of 15 paranormal romance stories by 15 different authors. The stories all contain spice and end with an HEA. There were several tropes throughout (fated mates, bodyguard romance, billionaire romance, bounty hunter/thief romance etc.). I really enjoyed the variety! There are a few possible trigger warnings that readers should check before reading (kidnapping, sexual exploitation etc.). A full list for each story is available on a website linked in the e-book.
My favorite stories from the book were Bound to the Primal Prince (Charissa Weaks), An Indelicate Negotiation (Jem Zero), One Night With the Blue Billionaire (Megan Van Dyke) and Dream Broker (J.E. McDonald). I have summed up my thoughts/brief descriptions of all the stories below. Please beware of possible spoilers!!
• Praise DILF – A casino caper – Rescue mission with fated mates trope. Funny. A little over the top. Doesn’t take itself too seriously • Bound to the primal prince - Marriage for political reasons. Monster hunting. Enjoyable characters, entertaining story. Good dialogue! • Crocheter’s guide to alien conservation – Rescued by an Alien. Funny language misunderstandings. • Resonant Drives – Hive-mind alien. Not my favorite. Kidnaping trope. More trigger warnings than most • Dream Broker – Stranded human selling her dreams for money. Fated Mates. Great mmc. Funny story by a Canadian author!! • An indelicate negotiation – The most unique story in the anthology. Trans mmc. Alien is non humanoid. I really enjoyed this story! • Rachet and clanked – Cyborg with changeable parts. Possible triggers (i.e., sex slavery). Good story. • Blue moon – Alien believes the FMC is a goddess and leaves sacrifices. Entertaining. • Swept away in stardust – Alien secretly in stasis pod. I need a part 2 to get some answers! • Cosmic cravings – Barter sex to pay a bill in an alien diner. Follow up chapter 2 years later that closes story. • One night with the blue billionaire – Really liked. More “believable” story. Great mmc. Praise kink • The twelfth ambassador – Butterfly boy with sentient trees. Involves solving a mystery. Fated mates. • Red Space – Vampire alien rescue. Mating bond. • Thoroughly Thrashed – Planet Terraformers. Fated mates. Follow-up chapter gives closure to relationship. • You’re it – Crime for a noble reason. Enjoyable characters. Least explicit.
An awesome feature of this book is that there is beautiful artwork that accompanies each story! The colors are spectacular, and the pictures help visualize what the characters are supposed to look like.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys alien smut!
This was so fun to read. I loved that each new novella started with art work, that helped so much with visualizing the characters. Full break down below ⬇️
Steamy🌶️ and sweet🍭 short stories by 15 best-selling, award-winning, and debut authors in 791 kindle pages (702 paperback pages). Too many to review, so here are a few of my favorites with sweet and spicy ratings:
FORCED PROXIMITY: 🍭🍭🍭🌶️🌶️🌶️“Crocheter’s Guide to Alien Conservatism” by Elisse Hay. When cynical human Eve’s space ship crashes, she wakes up by a purple sea, saved by a gentle (non-cynical), lilac-skinned, water alien named Irosabsuul (Dreamdiver).
FATED MATES: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️”Praise Dilf” by Auralee Bell. Imprisoned gold-skinned Lluran scientist Zyn is forced to work as an exotic dancer in a space casino. Human Roxy, soldier for hire, must find and rescue him from among the 3 dozen alien species in the gangster-run casino.
FATED MATES: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️”Bound to the Primal Prince” by Charrisa Weaks. In a political betrothal, Human/Krythian hybrid Adeira must chose which of 6 princes to wed. She instinctively choses Cenian Primal Prince Thane, even though he is absolutely opposed to their marriage.
FORCED PROXIMITY: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🍭🍭“Thoroughly Thrashed” by SL Choi. Feisty human Tori (32) is Team Lead terraforming a planet of lavender sand and purple rocks. It’s her last space job-6 days until retirement so no attachments. But scaled, horned, Drakovian crew member Thrash floods everyone’s senses with his pleasure pheromones-and he wants her as his mate.
What to Expect: 👽Alien Romance 🔥15 Authors 👽15 Stories 🔥ADULTTTT!!! 👽Spicy 🔥LGBTQ+ Stories 👽Sci-Fi Romance 🔥Anthology -
As my first Alien Romance, and my first Anthology, I saw this and had to give it a go. I’m so glad I did—so many of these stories were great and I most likely would’ve never chanced reading them, outside of this Anthology. Each of the 15 novellas brought its own unique spin on the genre, creating an anthology that’s adventurous, SPICYYY, and even unexpectedly sweet.
Some big highlights for me included: Weaks's Bound to the Primal Prince as a definite standout. It’s about an arranged marriage alien romance that introduces us to a “primal prince” in all the best and steamiest ways, Resonant Drives by Erin Fulmer, which featured an abduction romance with a dash of dubcon, and The Twelfth Ambassador by Mindi Briar, with a hero who’s a hot alien butterfly—yes, really an ALIEN BUTTERFLY! This is not to say the rest weren’t great, but these just stood out to me!
This anthology is on the spicy side, with alien characters ranging from humanoid to very much not, so there’s something for every adventurous romance reader out there. If you’re new to alien romance or a seasoned fan, this collection has enough variety to keep things fun, fresh, and absolutely filthy!!
This was my first foray into alien romance and let me tell you that it was a fun time! I loved the breadth of alien types we get in this anthology/in this story. One thing I truly enjoyed was that by introducing aliens it felt like it opened it up more naturally to just be more inclusive of the types of romance and the types of characters we get. Some of the stories that stick out for me are:
“Bound to the Primal Prince” by Charissa Weaks (kinda like space pirates... but make it royal) “Ratchet & Clanked” by Kristin Jacques (loved the representation in this - it felt varied for the characters we get) “Thoroughly Thrashed” by S.L. Choi (so stinking cute, but also hot) “Red Space” by S.C. Grayson (it's like space vampires!)
All I’ll say is that the stories are varied, and they do range in spice. I feel like if you like romance you’ll find something in here that you’ll enjoy and you might also find something that might make you go… huh! If you like romance, inclusive stories, and you like bit sized bits that range in spice, this might be for you! I'd say something like 3.5 stars maybe. Anthologies are hard for me to rate.
I love this book! Tempted by Celestial Bodies is an anthology of Alien romance short stories by 15 amazing authors published in a gorgeous cover with spicy characters arts, each story is different from one another and have satisfying ends and of course very spicy. you'll find arranged marriage, fated mates, a human girl who kidnapped by outer space species, meeting their mates in nightclubs, finding mate when broke, and there also a celestial creature who bring corpses as gifts for his mating rituals, I can't choose which is my most favorite because all the stories are awesome, I thoroughly enjoyed each story. once I started it, I found myself difficult to put it down, because they were engaging! if you love spicy romantasy especially sci-fi and alien romances, I highly recommend this book! This anthology was such a treasure!
▸Alien romance ▸celestial creatures ▸fated mates ▸insta-love ▸arrange marriage ▸lgbt+ rep ▸short stories ▸one bed ▸dreamwalker
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. huge thanks to the authors for giving me an advanced copy of this book!♥️♥️♥️
Run, don't walk to read this book if you love a spicy alien story.
Honestly, I wasn't sure what I was waking into, I just knew there were 15 stories from 15 amazing writers sharing their no-holds-barred sexy fics and said - yep I'm in. What I discovered was some laugh out loud, hilarious, sweet, thoughtful, and incredibly spicy stories. It was nothing yet everything that I expected.
As always in an anthology, some of the stories were stand-out, you would devour 1000 pages of their stories, and some were just good, but lacked a little spark that made them truly amazing. But on the whole, I found my attention snared, my imagination captivated, and because I didn't have to invest in an entire plot and backstory, I read this really quickly.
The artwork at the beginning of each story was gorgeous and kudos to the artist who completely aced the assignment.
If you want 15 guaranteed HEAs from bounty hunters, terraformers, lone crash survivors, cargo transporters to arranged royal marriages - then you need to check this book out.
Did I mention some of these fics are incredibly hot? I feel like maybe I did, but it bears repeating...
4.5⭐ It is really hard to review an anthology, especially one with 15 different stories in it. As it often happens, some stories were more to my taste than others, but they were all solid. I think the easiest way to do this is to provide several one-sentence descriptions with no context.😄 Oh, and the art is PHENOMENAL! - Alien aquatic prince looking for a love match. - The hive-mind concept done in a really unique way. - The fated mate trope, but make it a dream-walking alien. - Cyborg-courtesan and the mechanic who fixes them. - A cerulean-skinned alien on the eternal search for a goddess finds a lonely human engineer. - The living embodiment of an earth fae prince gets stranded on a derelict spaceship with the retired human mercenary who saved him. - 50 Shades of a Blue Bajillionaire. - Space vampires with wings! - We stan a male who immediately recognizes his fated mate, and allows them to still choose. This is simply a great (horny!) anthology, and it was super fun to get lost in for awhile. 😊
I had been wanting to read an alien romance for a while now and when I saw that Charissa Weaks (one of my favorite romantasy authors) was writing a story in this anthology, I took it as my sign to read one (or 15!!)! This anthology is comprised of 15 different alien romance stories written by 15 different authors.
There is something for everyone in this book! Well, as long as you’re into alien romances and realllyyyyyyy SPICY reads 🥵🔥🌶️ lol. If you’re not into those two things, this book is not for you…but, if you are, or you’re curious, totally check it out!
Some stories made me chuckle, some were totally swoony, and all made me hot and bothered 😅😮💨🫠. You’ll find many different romance tropes in the different stories. I enjoyed some more than others and I found that I enjoyed this book more when I read a story here and there in between other reads.
Overall, it was a really fun and enjoyable read that I’d only recommend to readers who like or are open to alien romances and really spicy reads.
If you are looking for a fun anthology of short, spicy sci-fi and you have an open mind-- then this is the book for you!
The things that I enjoyed about this book: - Variety! There is a story for almost every taste. - Well written! The authors in this anthology clearly love what they do and care about doing it well.
Things that did not enjoy about this book: - I would have liked to see one story that was M/M. There were such a variety of couples, that the fact that there wasn't one M/M story just kind of stuck out to me.
Overall, I am impressed with this collection. I feel like the stories were well thought out and compiled nicely. Usually I am kind of a slow burn girlie myself, but most of the stories did a good job of providing good backdrops and lead-ups to the smut. Each story ended with a short bio about the author with some mentions of other works, which I think was a nice touch. It felt like I was taking part in a sampling menu, and being gently guided to where I can find those I liked the best.
It’s hard to rate and review such a large anthology of stories! I loved some of these stories, some were decent, and others were too much for me. It was hard for me to read so much erotica at once. I could only read one story at a time when I was in the mood to give it a try. Not a huge fan of the first story because of the extreme ridiculousness, so I recommend continuing to check out the stories if the first one is too much for you like it was for me. I almost didn’t continue after reading a particular story in the middle…
But here’s a list of the stories I enjoyed the most! Bound to the Primal Prince by Charissa Weaks Resonant Drives by Erin Fulmer Dream Broker by J. E. McDonald Cosmic Cravings by Lita Grey Thoroughly Thrashed by S. L. Choi
Ultimately, this was a really fun and entertaining collection of stories! So many steamy scenes! Thanks so much to the authors and publisher for the advanced reader copy!
15 stories by 15 authors, Tempted by Celestial Bodies has it all! This alien romance anthology has varying spice levels, but most of the stories are explicit. Each story is pretty short and contains plenty of spice. I liked that I could "sample" each author's writing style to see if it meshed with my reading style.
I found out about this anthology through Charissa Weaks, I love her other books and knew I would like her story in this as well. It did not disappoint! Where is my primal prince??? I've come across so many new (to me) authors through this collection of stories and can't wait to read more of their books.
Also, the art for each story??? Amazing! Make sure to view it through the Kindle app on your phone for the color version, if color isn't supported on your Kindle.
Thanks to the authors for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This is such a fun anthology! Given all 15 stories are fairly short you have to be ok with a fast burn to be on board, even though many provide *reasons* for the speed. Fated mates anyone?
That out of the way, the writing for nearly all of these is top notch and the amount of world building - er, species and planet building? - packed into every one of these short stories was unreal. I was blown away again and again.
Some stories were sillier, but most had a touch of heart and sweetness.
And the spice? Phew. Some was fairly tame but many got creative here too in the most delightful ways. Overall would give each story 🌶️🌶️ assuming you’re down with unique appendages.
I would definitely recommend this for monster and alien romance lovers looking for quick spicy hits, or a light-hearted, addictive binge.
