Miss Carolyn Ashford wants one thing from love. After spending one informative season in London, she discovers the rarity of the emotion. Resigning herself to a life of spinsterhood, she leans on her brother’s charity. When she stumbles upon a secret garden on the Duke of Demoon’s property, she sets to restore it. As the garden comes to life, so does her spirit, as though she’s finally found her place.

Edmund Marsham, Duke of Demoon, for over a decade hasn’t shown his scarred face—the only outward sign of surviving a devastating fire in his youth—to anyone outside of Moonlight Castle. Seeking sanctuary from his callous mother, he rides off to his grandmother’s secret garden. Once there, he is surprised to find a young woman has brought life back into the neglected place. Although he keeps his identity from her, they form an unexpected friendship. Before long, Edmund begins to want impossible things. Things he knows he can’t have.

Carolyn knows her time with Edmund is limited considering he has no desire for a wife or child. With another man vying for her attention, she knows with him she will have everything that Edmund denies her. She attempts to distance herself from Edmund, but her traitorous body has other plans. Will her heart survive a temporary romance with Edmund, and will those memories be enough to satisfy a lifetime without him?

Enchanting the Duke of Demoon
Touched by Fire Series Book 4
Jenn Langston

This is the story of Edmund Marsham (Duke of Demoon) and Carolyn Ashford. A love story long overdue.
Years ago there was a tragic fire, one that brought together 4 young boys. All of the young boys were injured in the fire and scarred for life. Three of them remained life long friends but the one who was rescued in the fire became a recluse. This is the story of that recluse.
The Duke of Demoon had his face burnt and scarred at the age of 16 in a fire that consumed his fathers body that was layed to rest in a remote cabin.
Fast forward to the present, Carolyn Ashford loved time alone. She had no interest in finding a husband, whe wants only a love match not marriage of convience. While out one day she came across a long forgotten garden belonging to the reclusive Duke of Demoon. Each day she would sneek into the hidden passage to work on restoring the beauty of the garden. One day she was surprised by a man while in the garden. Unknown to Carolyn the mystery man was indeed the Duke. Since no one has seen him in many years she had no way of knowing it was his garden she made into her secret happy place.
The two forge a friendship although they agreed not to know each others last names.
The Dukes cousin Thomas has been courting Carolyn Ashford for a year but she has made it clear she will never return his feelings.
Unknown to either Thomas or Edmund they both want the same woman.
One day Carolyn and Edmund give in to mutual passion. Can one night of need repair the years of pain for Edmund and longing in Carolyn or will it confuse things more? What will happen when the truth of who they are comes out? Can years of mistrust and pain be healed by strong love or will tragedy pull them apart forever?
Secrets will be revealed, hearts will be tested, mysteries will be finally solved.
Enchanting the Duke reunites our heros and the strong women who saved them from the previous books.
Ian Caldwell – Viscount Knightly and Claire Ashford
Gordon Ashford – Baron Dailey and Annalise Hera
Marcus Hera – Earl of Starsen and Isabella Rossland
Edmund Marsham – Duke of Demoon and Carolyn Ashford
Each book in this Beautiful series can be read as standalone stories but trust me when I say you will treasure each and every one of them.
I fell in love with each book, more than the previous one, that being said I LOVE the Duke and Carolyn.
Jenn Langston has a wonderful talent for Historical Romance. I have yet to read one of her stories and not loved it.

Edmund Marsham, Duke of Demoon, as a child was caught in a fire which burned a portion of his face. He became a recluse and no one saw him for eleven years except his family. Carolyn Ashford lived on a neighboring estate, she tend a little garden that she found.
I really enjoyed this tale of a lonesome man, hating himself and his father. The characters were realistic, the dialogue fit the action and the plot while complicated was well written and kept your attention. It was an easy and fun read. But I will say the duke likes to brood. It has intrigue and the end may surprise you.
I received this Arc free and voluntarily reviewed it.

Uncaged Review: If the rumors are to be believed about Edmund that he has indeed caught his father’s temper and is mad then I pity any unfortunate soul to cross his path. After a brief conversation with a stranger at one of his gardens, Edmund finds himself intrigued with the beautiful woman. Carolyn has caught his eye in a perfect story of love, tragedy, and betrayal. This conclusion to the Touched by Fire series which can also be read as a standalone novel. I really enjoyed this book and I’m sad that the series is finished now. That being said I’m now a fan of this author and can’t wait to see what she comes out with next. Reviewed by Jennifer

Now I am sorry I have not read the first book of the series because the plot did not interest me.
These stories have been one better of the other, I liked them all.

The author is very good at confounding ideas and coming up with big revelations at the end, which is something I always enjoy, the characters are never cliché, they are multifaceted and they shy away from useless drama focusing on more important matters.

Here the h sounded like Demisexual and it was an interesting aspect of her. I hope the author will get back writing soon, she really can bring out very good stories.

Intriguing

I have really enjoyed this series. The characters in this book and the previous ones are memorable. These were the first books I read by this author and will look for her other books in the future. I hope Mr. Thomas Avery gets his own book.
