One wish changes my life forever. Now I’ve got an extra-grumpy “married at first sight” orc husband.
Getting caught blowing the whistle on a mob boss isn’t the worst part of my day. No, that would be getting sucked through a portal to Faerie. Or finding out I’m a witch who can fly… very, very badly. Or fighting off a soul-sucking fae who wants to drain me dry.
Or getting stuck in a tree, flashing an orc my hot-pink panties.
Actually, that last one might not be so bad. Dravarr’s scowls highlight his smoldering eyes and sharp cheekbones, and his touch makes me swoon. Especially since he has to hold me all day and night to keep me from floating away.
But the soul-sucking fae come back. And a meddling goddess plays matchmaker and marries me to the grumpy orc warrior! I don’t want to be Dravarr’s wife of duty. How can I become the bride of his heart?
Bound to the Orc Warlord is a steamy fantasy monster romance featuring a grumpy orc warrior who falls hard and a sunshiny heroine ready to soar. Welcome to the Moon Blade Clan, where heart-melting romance, toe-curling steam, magic, and adventure combine into stories you’ll devour.
Krista Luna writes spicy fantasy and paranormal romance featuring otherworldly men and the strong women they can’t live without. She loves combining sizzling romance with thrilling adventure, laugh-out-loud humor, and cozy found families full of best friends and talking animals.
When she’s not writing, you can find Krista reading or watching her latest fantasy or scifi favorite, all while eating chocolate. Because there’s always chocolate.
After getting caught trying to get information on her shady boss, Ashley gets sucked into a portal into the Faerie lands. Once there she discovers she's a witch who can fly, very very badly.
Dravarr is a grumpy orc warlord who would love a moon bride like his brother, but isn't expecting one. So when he stumbles upon Ashley in a tree flashing her panties, he's not impressed. Because he doubts her abilities, he hides their marriage from her, which hurts Ashley and their budding relationship when it all comes to light.
Everything does work out for Ashley and Dravarr in the end, but I feel like I was more interested in the side characters (Midnight and Drake) than I was their relationship. It was still a good time though!
“Bound to the Orc Warlord” by Krista Luna, or the art of writing a big, grumpy green orc in a way that you end up falling for him. This book was simply adorable, filled with heart-felt moments, side-kicks that will make you laugh-out-loud and two main characters so delightful, you start rooting for them for the very first moment they met.
💚 I was provided with a complimentary copy by the author, and the following review reflects my honest opinion.💚
The story unfolds once Ashley, a spunky human, detects the embezzlement scheme of her boss and is caught by him only to find herself whisked away to a fantastical realm where she discovers newfound powers. Enter Dravarr, the rugged yet endearing orc warlord, who receives a divine message calling him to wed a mysterious moon bride. Their paths intersect when Dravarr stumbles upon Ashley, quite literally stuck in a tree, flashing him her pink panties.
With Luna's skillful storytelling, “Bound to the Orc Warlord” unfolds as a charming story of acceptance, the hurt of rejection, redemption, and unexpected connections. As Ashley and Dravarr navigate the twists and turns of their relationship, you get drawn into a world where love knows no bounds and where even the most unlikely pairings can find solace and belonging.
That being said, there were a couple of minor hiccups worth mentioning. Dravarr's character was incredibly well-developed, with his doubts, inner struggles, and eventual realization adding complexity to his personality. However, in comparison, Ashley's character needed more depth. Her inner thoughts sometimes jumped ahead, robbing readers of the opportunity to truly connect with her. Additionally, the instant attraction she felt could have been explored further. Lastly, given Ashley's history of rejection, her emotions should have been more prominently featured once she learned the “truth” of her marital status.
Overall, “Bound to the Orc Warlord” is a charming read that will leave you smiling and rooting for love to prevail. I'd go with 3.5-3.75, but will round up!
Sometimes, you need a lighthearted, steamy escape, and Bound to the Orc Warlord delivers just that. While it wasn’t a groundbreaking read, it was exactly what I needed, a low stakes, easy-to-digest palette cleanser after all the horror and dark romance I’ve been diving into. This book offered a welcome breather with its simple plot, playful humor, and sweet moments.
The grumpy-sunshine dynamic between Dravarr and Ashley was enjoyable, though I had mixed feelings about Ashley’s character. At times, her naivety and childlike demeanor felt out of place, especially in a story with mature themes like grief, graphic violence, and steamy romance. On top of that, the keeping-secrets/miscommunication trope (one of my personal pet peeves) didn’t do much to endear the plot to me.
One of the standout aspects was the representation of Ashley as a curvier girlie, which is refreshing to see in fantasy romance. That said, Dravarr’s constant fixation on her body sometimes veered into fetish territory. While I appreciated that he found her beautiful in every way, it became repetitive and overemphasized.
The writing itself leans toward the elementary, which felt like a strange contrast with the adult themes. Still, the story’s simplicity made it a breezy read, and the steamy scenes were undeniably fun. Sweet, spicy, and even laugh-out-loud worthy. I also loved the prequel, Bound to the Orc Ranger, which I picked up on Stuff Your Kindle Day. Its shorter length worked well with the straightforward storytelling, and I think I preferred it slightly for that reason.
All in all, Bound to the Orc Warlord earns a solid 3/5 stars from me. It’s not without its flaws, but it’s a delightful pick-me-up for when you’re looking to escape into something light, steamy, and just plain fun. I’ll definitely be continuing the series when I need another break from the doom and gloom of my usual reads.
Such a cute grumpy sunshine romance with a powerful orc and a human FMC coming into her power. Ashley was rather insecure after a lifetime of being an outcast and Dravarr’s surly and skeptical nature didn’t ease her into Faery. He was physically protective of her, but reluctant to claim her as his when it was clear she wasn’t some fierce warrior. They both had their own little growth ARCs; hers for self confidence and his for easing up on the need for perfection. They were a cute couple together and I’m absolutely looking forward to the next book!
Spice: 4/5
Triggers: brief imprisonment/threat to life, fatphobia, animal attack, parent loss (off page), fire, severe injury, violence, gore
This was a cute, low angst, medium spice orc romance that I really enjoyed reading!
Ashley finds herself in a dangerous situation and wishes for a way out. Little does she know she's about to travel to another world, find out she's a witch, and meet her fated mate. Dravarr is burdened with the stress of being a clan leader. One night the moon goddess sets him on a path to find his bride, but when he meets her he's not sure. Could the moon goddess have made a mistake with his chosen?
I really liked the relationship development between Ashley and Dravarr. He's hopeful but unsure of his chosen bride. While Ashley throws herself into the new world she's in and her witchiness, but doesn't quite know what to make of the guarded orc who comes to her rescue. Watching them work to understand each other, and fall in love with each other was a highlight of the book for me. and of course that medium burn leads to a spicy payoff for the wait!
This is another great read in the Moon Blade Clan series, and I'm looking forward to more!
✨This book was sent to me by the publishers for review consideration, but all opinions are honest and my own.✨
Rating: 3.5/5⭐️ rounded up! Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
I really liked this book! I read it after a very hefty and intense book, and in my opinion that was the perfect time to read it! It’s a perfect palate cleanser when you want something heartfelt in the fluffy romantic way without intense angst. So it was much needed for me and I really enjoyed it.
If you want a classic romantic adventure with a gorgeous feywild backdrop, read this book! It was really comforting because the tone and setting was very reminiscent of nostalgic fairytales, so reading it was like eating comfort food. But that being said, it was NOT childish - in fact it was pretty spicy and adult, with a great balance between the nostalgic fairytale tone and adult adventure and spice.
All the characters were great, and the side characters were genuinely really funny and sweet. There’s a certain adolescent dragon who will stay with me in a special spot in my mind. :)
Overall this was a very nice and sweet romantic read and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for something fluffy and heartwarming!
This was so bland and boring. Like the definition of mediocre. Felt like it had the minimum effort put into making an original story.
But what made me quit were the repetitive and frankly kind of gross intimate scenes. Clits kept springing to life, cocks were released with a pop 🙄🙄🙄, whining/constantly groaning/growling, fluids dripping/soaking, blah blah blah BLAH. So fucking boring at this point! Nothing original, at alllllllllll
FMC was my least favorite archetype. Pathetic, helpless airhead needing to be saved.
Listened to it as an audiobook and both narrows also sucked. Idk nothing to recommend
3.5 ⭐️ 3 🌶️ This was a fun read, with plenty of spice and plot to boot. The story was a fun read through, and the characters were a lot of fun. The spice is extremely well written in this one, and I definitely suggest this for someone who likes humor, a bit of adventure, and plenty of spice in their books. I will probably be reading the next one eventually too.
✨ARC Review! I received an early copy of this book and this is my honest review.✨ … “The stars can wink out one by one, and I’ll still love you. The sun can fall dark in the sky, and you will still be my light, my life.” … Bound to the Orc Warlord is the second installment in the Brides of the Moon Blade Clan. The prequel gave us an intro to the world, but this book really dives into world building while giving us a sweet grumpy/sunshine romance! I give this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!
I really enjoyed all the characters in this book! Ashley and Dravarr really rounded each other out and I loved how supportive they were of each other.
Ashley is a firecracker! She’s very determined to do the right thing and isn’t afraid of a challenge. She’s not too concerned about ending up on another realm because it allows her tap into her family’s long lost witchy magic! She’s so sweet to everyone, even her grumpy orc companion. Her relationship with Drake was my favorite! He was so patient teaching her how to fly and their friendship was so cute!
Dravarr is a little complicated. As warlord he’s used to being a brute with rough edges. He has no room for emotions or soft things. Ashley coming into his life as his moon bride really flips his world upside down. He’s very hesitant on her being his bride as she’s not what he would picture for himself, but he slowly falls in love with her over the course of the book. She really brings out a softer side of him that I think helps him be a great leader (especially during the big fight at the end!).
The spice was 🥵… Dravarr is a very attentive partner. His piercings are made for pleasure and this man loves putting in the work! There’s a scene using a broomstick to restrain Ashley and oh my godddddddd… it’s 🤌🏻!
I adored the sidekicks in this book! Midnight is sassy and not afraid to voice his opinions to Dravarr. Drake stole the show though! He’s so dang CUTE! His youthfulness made him so playful and he was so eager to tag along on the group’s adventure.
Finally, the world building in this was fantastic! We got more lore behind the creation of the realm and the magic that surrounds everyone. We also got to see two common enemies of everyone team up to try and take over the orcs. This causes the leaders of the different clans/tribes to meet which was cool to see!

I'm honestly shocked this book has such positive reviews. I totally understand that it's pretty light-hearted and a silly monster romance but it seriously reads like a teenager wrote it. The story line is ridiculously basic and the world building is simple and one dimensional. The story about Ashley working for a charity but they are crooks and she has to break in and reveal the scam, this goes absolutely nowhere and adds very little to her character development. She just accepts that a giant moon ball transports her to a new magical land, she requires no time to acclimatize at all! She's immediately attracted to a giant green skinned man with tusks? She can ride on the back of a unicorn for hours and sleep basically on furs on the ground with no soreness or stiffness. The thing that bugged me the most was Ashley's attitude. She was just so happy to be there! She took everything in stride, accepted everything that was strange, knew within 2 days that she loved Dravarr and wanted to be with him, and fell in love with his village after being there for one day? I think this book has a lot of potential but as it is now it's not good. I did enjoy the banter between the unicorn and dragon.

Such a sweet and fun read! This story follows Ashley, who was orphaned after her mother lost her life in a fire survived only by6 Baby Ashley. When she is forced into a dangerous position, she grips the only thing left of her mother, a crystal necklace and wishes to escape. Dravarr is the Orc Warlord of the Moon Blade Clan. He is awoken one night when the Moon Goddess selects him to have a sky gift or a Moon Bound Bride. When Ashley is thrown into Dravarr’s world, the two are not able to speak, however their connection is apparent. The journey back to the Moon Blade Clan is riddled with adventure, danger and above all a chemistry between Ashley and Dravarr that is explosive. I could not put this book down and I kept thinking ‘I don’t want it to end.’ If you are looking for an instalove, human/orc adventure, don’t sleep on this one! Grab as soon as you can, it is so worth it!!
Urgh. It’s all I can say about this. The smut is bordering on gross, the writing is poor and the FMC is insufferably stupid.
How am I to believe that this world of incredible magical beings hadn’t thought of trapping the bird-like enemies in a net before? The fact that it kept being brought up as her amazing invention was almost insulting, it’s a net for god sake 🫠 also mad cop out that she enters this world gets a magical power and it’s not even the thing that helps them defeat the bad guys, she just makes a net 🙄 something that literally anyone could have done.
Also, if I had to hear about her pink underwear anymore I was going to scream 😭 It’s so rare I really don’t get on with a book but it’s safe to say this one is not for me.
Best part of this book was the unicorn and dragon companions but even their characterization was repetitive and bland after the midway point.

“Note to self: when portaling to other worlds, bring pizza.” 😅
This book was exactly what I needed. A total slump buster! it’s cute, cozy, lighthearted and absolutely addictive. There’s a fun magical world with unicorns, dragons and witches oh my! and just the right amount of wicked spice to keep me hooked. It’s faced paced, adventurous and had me kicking my feet with pure joy.
The burn between Ashley and her gruff orc warlord simmers so deliciously. And when it crashes? Whew. 🔥 Dravarr may be a fierce warrior but he develops a soft safe side just for her. They may be moon-bound mates but he’s determined to earn her love and not take it for granted. Swoon.
I hope the rest of the series is the same level of cozy spicy perfection. Ooh and I recommend the audio.
This isekai-type story was the perfect road trip read. Sweet and entertaining, Ashley and Davarr kept my attention as the miles flew by. Davarr thinks he's not worthy of Ashley, and there's some miscommunication when he doesn't tell her they're married by the moon goddess. Of course she finds out, but they are able to resolve their differences with the help of some meddlesome bad guys and a fancy peen with piercings, a knøt, and a magic barb that shapeshifts to match desires. Apparently, this is all waiting for you after you whistle-blow on your mob boss' financial diversions. So what are you waiting for?
Enjoyable read. Really liked Dravarr & Ashley’s pairing, though the lack of actual communication between them did get a little frustrating further along, but that was easily resolved in the end so didn’t bother me too much.
Loved Midnight & Drake, can’t go wrong with some animal sidekicks in my opinion.
I will say though, I would like to see what happens back in the ‘human’ world after them leaving, like do they cease to exist there?, do people forget about them?, do they get listed as a missing person? They had a whole life back in the human world but we never hear anything from that side after they’re in the orc world.
A lighthearted, hilarious and spicy read that made me forget about reality! The world building, the characters, the imagination behind it all - I was so engrossed I felt as if I were part of the adventure. The idea of the FMC was pure genius and made for funny and schmexy moments. This book is like a shot of happiness; try it and find yourself smiling throughout and after!... And considering buying a pair of hot-pink panties :P
Such a fun story! There's just enough intrigue and tension here to keep this story engaging with it still being just a nice cosy read that you can sink into and enjoy. I loved the introduction of all the different species and the fleshing out of the world as a whole and I will definitely be continuing with this series.
This was... not it. Unfortunately. I saw a teaser on Instagram and this was just one of those that I sadly didn't like. The premise was interesting in the beginning but it just seemed to drag on. Honestly happy I dnf'ed this. I know. I said it.
My first book from this author, and I’ll be reading g the next story. I enjoyed the Orc world. It was interesting, and fun meeting all the Fae. The story was fun and sexy.
Okay—before anyone laughs at me, hear me out: sometimes you need a lighthearted, low-stress book to help you escape real life for a while. For me, this series is exactly that. It feels like a cozy little hug in monster romance form.
The world of the Moon Blade Clan is charming and oddly comforting. People get yeeted into Faerie because the moon goddess said so? Iconic. It’s chaotic but soft. The whole magical matchmaking-by-fate thing feels whimsical in the best way, and the powers tied to each bride’s amulet add just the right amount of humor and magic.
Dravarr is the classic grumpy orc with a secret soft side, and our sunshine heroine balances him perfectly. Their dynamic is sweet, with plenty of cute forced proximity (literally—he has to hold her so she doesn’t float away). There’s a bit of danger with soul-sucking fae, meddling gods, and flying lessons gone wrong, but it’s all delivered wrapped up in a nice little bow.
That said, this isn’t a literary masterpiece—and that’s not a bad thing. It’s a little silly, a little cheesy, and yes, kind of childish at times. But it’s self-aware and sincere, which makes it work. I gave it 3/5 stars, not because it wasn’t enjoyable, but because it’s just not meant to be deep or groundbreaking. It’s meant to be fun. And honestly? I will be reading book two the next time I need a break from darker books or when my anxiety spiral demands something soft, spicy, and fated.
