And in spite of Bryce being there for her every time she needs him, Lucy’s not about to lose her heart again to a man and a little girl who aren’t hers. But sometimes, taking a chance in life brings the sweetest rewards.
Lucy tries to welcome her parents’ new neighbor with some special brownies, but they do nothing to sweeten Mr. Grumpy’s disposition. Too bad since he’s drop dead gorgeous. Anyway, she’s sworn off men since her heartbreaking marriage and divorce. Bryce enjoys his solitude ever since his fiancé left him to pursue acting. The neighbor who stops by intrudes on that, especially since her beauty does something to his peace of mind. His tranquility is really blown when he finds a baby left on his doorstep courtesy of his ex. In a panic, he calls on the only person he can think of—Lucy. And so it begins...
The Bachelor’s Baby is by Marilyn Shank. It is a quick book to read and it is interesting. You wonder how he will do raising a child. Bryce Wellington just moved into his house. He is a professor at the nearby college and enjoys a quiet life. He is not particularly social but does enjoy an occasional night out. He is definitely not looking for a woman and resents any woman trying to strike up a relationship. He is not particularly nice to Lucy Albright when she brings over some cookies as a welcome to the neighborhood. He is blunt and to the point but not unkind. However, it is enough to warrant Lucy recipe. Lucy is staying at her parents’ home until they get back from their vacation. She is trying to start with her business, Delectable Desserts and get it situated before they return. As a token of friendship, which her parents would have done had they been home, she took a plate of brownies to him. After being rebuffed by him, she returns to her home glad she made the effort; but now she can ignore him. When Lucy has problems with her van, Bryce steps in to help her out. They begin talking and decide they might be able to be friends. Later that evening, Bryce finds himself in a bind and calls Lucy to get her help. A former girlfriend left a baby on his porch- his little girl. Knowing nothing of babies, he calls Lucy for help. Lucy’s last boyfriend had a little girl and after they broke up, she hasn’t been allowed to see Isabel at all. Can she help Bryce without getting involved?
A quick read, fun, heart wrenching, would make a cute chick flick. Or with your boyfriend, if you are persuasive enough.
I liked spunky Lucy, loved the girls. The expectations, the suppositions (usually wrong) of both Lucy and her professor. They maybe could have taken a communications class. But that is also what made the story fun.
I enjoyed this story it kept me turning pages until I finished the book. I liked the characters, each having their own problems and coming together to help each other.
This was another fun story by Marilyn Shanks. I liked how the main characters' relationship grew from total strangers to neighbours, to friends, to ...love. Interesting and unique storyline, mature writing style that flows at a nice, easy pace. A great novella to escape from reality.
Bryce went from bachelor to father in an instant. Lucy was trying to recover from her marriage to a man with a daughter. They both had recovery issues. Since they were temporary neighbors, they agreed to help each other. A fast paced book with much humor.
really great storyline, funny and engaging characters. sweet love story and a happy ever after. really enjoyed reading this book. definitely recommending
