The first three titles in the Louisiana Shifters Series: Shifter In Ascent, Shifter's Dream, and Shifter's Legacy all conveniently packaged together for a reduced price!
Shifter In Ascent: Tessa Anderson has been dragged, wide-eyed, into the world of Shifters – beings capable of changing into wolves. Unfortunately for Tessa, her new world is fraught with danger from Shifters and human enemies alike. She finds shelter from the storm with deeply conflicted Shifter Jace Copeland, and a breathless passion is sparked – but when all the secrets come out, Tessa will have to choose whom to protect.
Shifter's Dream: Emma Cauley is pretty sure she's finally lost her mind the day she looks up and locks gazes with the tall, dark, and smoking hot man of her dreams... literally, she's pretty sure he's a figment of her imagination. Before Emma knows it, she's being drawn into the world of the Louisiana Shifters - and straight into Connall's arms. A dying boy, a white rose, and a mysterious man that can take the shape of a wolf.... as the pieces of fate's puzzle begin to fall into place, a fierce passion will be unleashed, and the events will change more than just Emma's life forever...
Shifter's Legacy: What would you do if your childhood dreams came true? What if everything you ever wanted was yours, and it was turning into a nightmare? Louisiana Shifter Madeline “Maddie” Copeland gets a lot more than she bargained for when she agrees to take stubborn, sexy Alpha male Jasper McDonough as her mate. She plans to kill two birds with one stone - help her brother Jace throw Jasper off his scent, and also settle herself with a mate that won’t get in her way. After all, Jasper and Maddie were childhood sweethearts. To Maddie’s thinking, there could be no better solution. What she didn’t plan for is that Jasper won’t settle for a mateship in name alone. Proud, damaged Jasper is determined to have all of her... body, heart, and soul. Too bad Maddie’s not interested in offering him any of the above, and he won’t settle for half-measures. The resulting situation is more than undesirable; the honeymooners can more than share a bed, but not a civil word.
Favorite Lines “The males fight for your attention, and of course you females fall all over them.”
“Jace would see to it that she understood the rules soon enough. He would show the little temptress the error of her ways, and enjoy every second of it.”
“Tomorrow I hand her over to Declan. She deserves a mate who will respect her, not some wolf who cowers from his little sister.”
“Not by a long shot, kitten.”
"You’re still here,”
“Shaking her head, she decided that she’d probably grow old before she ever really understood what went on in Jasper’s head.”
“In that moment, Maddie realized that she’d been very stupid. Jasper was her mate, her everything. She’d wasted her life, wasted all this time with him, never realizing that what she needed was right in front of her”
Now that's how all books should be! Three amazing couples packed in one great book! These 3 stores have everything needed to grab onto you and keep you turning the pages while sighing completely satisfied! I can't name a favorite because they each have something I loved! Jace and Tessa because they would both do anything to protect there family ever sacrifice there own happiness! Connell and Emma because they held out for each other when they only knew each other in there dreams! Maddie and Jasper because the fought as fiercely as they loved and were both heard headed! I loved reading about the fights the making up, and how they all came together when their packs were threatened! These legion wackos need to be flayed alive! I can easily see this author turning this series into at least10 books that I would devour and recommend to all my friends! Keep them coming!
I was given this book by author in exchange for an honest review
I received this collection in exchange for an honest review from the author through the Goodreads’ group “Lovers of Paranormal”. The Louisiana Shifter Collection contains three stories, two of which are full length novels (Louisiana Shifter Series #1, #1.5, & #2). This series brings you into a world of shifters, with a little dose of witches, magic, and more. The world the author has spun runs parallel with the real world, thus hardly derails from what real life is like. Because of this, a reader can find her/himself believing that actual portals and paranormal beings could possibly exist in some way. It is hard to make a paranormal romance story believable, but I believe Wood pulled this off. The intimate scenes were very steamy, and I thought there was just the right amount to balance out all three stories.
Here was my dilemma. I can read a book, and overlook grammar mistakes if it doesn’t interfere with the story too much. What I can’t overlook is inconsistencies. When I read a book, I like to picture the story, and get lost in the words. I hate when I am jarred out of that when something doesn’t make sense. Most happened in the first story, Shifter In Ascent. Just a few examples; One moment she’s sitting and he’s kneeling in front of her, and the next, she “stood on tiptoe” to kiss him. I went back to see if I missed where they stood up, but it wasn’t there. There were so many of these. She’s naked but then he has to remove her clothes, talking to someone in a raid but not three pages before it mentioned that he stayed behind. Even little things like tossing a quarter to the couch, but the next paragraph, he opens the door so they can go inside. All of these things threw me off too much that I couldn’t enjoy the story. By the end of the first story, I didn’t want to go on, but I gave my word that I would read them all. By the end of the second, I still didn’t want to go on. The stories seemed to have no climactic event and felt like they fizzled out at the end. I still went on though, and I am glad that I did. The third story, Shifter’s Legacy, was everything I look for in a good book. I was hooked from the very beginning. It was as if all the grammar mistakes and wrong names of characters in the other two stories just disappeared. There was action, suspense, and had me at the edge of my seat. I was so happy until the very end when there was another inconsistency and it threw me off once again. If I mention what it is, I would spoil the ending, and I can’t do that.
What’s funny is that my favorite story was obviously the third one, but my favorite part was from the first story. I LOVED the GAME. It was fun to read, a great way to introduce new characters, and had me smiling the entire time it was being described. Overall, I believed the author did very well setting up the Shifter world, and if it wasn’t for the inconsistencies, I would probably have given it a higher rating, but I just can’t. If it wasn’t for the last story, the rating would have been possibly a 2 or 2.5.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal)
Jace and Tessa If Jace was a doctor his bedside manner would suck. *smirks* his little sister even worse... mostly. First Jace “rescues Tessa, did she need rescuing?” In reality she didnt put up much of a fight. As a shifter book they didnt do a lot of shifting, but the rest of the story made you keep reading. A pack of misfits, everyone has a story in the past. This small group will have to go against a organization that is out to terminate all shifters. Jace will have to battle his own demons, as will Tessa. But neither can deny the pull. A tragic past has Jace in a undeserving, grouchy alpha male hardened attitude. Tess is into more than she is revealing. One lets the tragic past rule the present, while the other's future make be shorter than they know. The sex is hot and hard, emotions run high. Take a ride with Jace and Tessa see what magic surrounds them.
Connall and Emma A bored person can be very dangerous(smiles).. Lets go meet Emma the dreamer. Side note – Emma's friend Staci is more than annoying. Now Emma has been dreaming over a year of this sexy male, only actually see him live and in person. Neither seem to know the who's or whys, but then he is determined to find out. Oh dont you love “get away from my female... “ not once was their a discussion or a trade in thoughts. *tsk tsk.. males. (smiles). Emma is what exactly she doesnt know, images put in someone eles mind, her waking up in other places.(but Connall will be helping her find out.) Again the Legion is mentioned, she dreams about the men in black camo gear. Are her dreams of what will happen? Or what has happened? Men are forever telling the women to stay put.. as if.. like really? Winks “I have been chasing you for a year, and now that I have you Ill worship you everyday of my life.” .. that right there is why we love our men.
Jasper and Maddie I was wondering when we would get to their story. Yay! You have to love Maddie, strong, sassy more of a tyrant than her brother Jace was known to be. Jasper he isnt what he looks like, some tough situations has made him what most people think he is. But really is he as bad as everyone thinks? Now Jasper was set on challenging Jace for Tessa(the female Ascent now mated), before that could happen maddie jumps in and saves the day. Finding herself mated to Jasper of her own free will. But why? Jasper has some mighty big shoulders to carry the weight of his world on. You have stubborn plus stubborn, mixed with hot yumminess. Enough to leave the sheets scorched. Both Maddie and Jasper are quick of wit and intelligence. They will both need it to tone down , their hardheadness.
As I finished these books the first thing came to mind, keeping secrets will only bite you in the end. Holding on to the past hurt makes you a lonely person, fighting ghost of the past will test your sanity. I loved all 3 books, I liked the first one the best. All of the story lines were fun and intriguing. The characters came to life! I really liked Kat, and hope to see what happens with her. Enjoy
Would like to thank the author and LOP for gifting me this book for a honest review.
Love reading about shifters, this was another different twist. Louisiana shifters collection included 3 books, Shifter in Acent, Shifters Dream and Shifters Legacy. The first book Shifter in Acent is about Tessa and Jace, Tessa is kidnapped by the Legion a group or clan that hate shifters or any paranormal, they see them as demons. She is forced to help them or they kill her sister. She is taken in by Jace a member of the louisiana pact, theres a instant attraction between them, Tessa doesnt want to trust Jace and struggles with what she has to do to help her sister. Jace doesnt want to fall in love or have a mate, he tries to distant himself from her, but finds it harder and harder. We meet alot of good characters, Kat, Maddie, Delcan and Jasper, enjoyed this story, I think it was good book to start off the series. I just felt like it was lacking something, Jace just didnt do it for me, Jace could really be a jerk. Tessa was good, loved the love she had for her sister and that they were close. Tessa was super torn on what to do if she should trust Jace and tell him what was going on with her. Overall good ending.
In Shifters dream, this story was about Emma, who has been having dreams about a man, hot and steamy dreams, and some not so great dreams, but hes always there, then one day out with her friend she runs into him, the man of her dreams Connall. This story, was also lacking, I was left with unanswered questions, like what is Emma??? Why does she have these dreams?? She also doesnt waste no time sleeping with Connall espcially being a virgin. I think this book should of been a whole book, longer.
The third book Shifters Legacy, is about Maddie and Jasper, newly mated. I enjoyed this one more than the last 2 books. Maddie and Jasper both stronger characters, both have alot of issues to work on. Both wanting to be together, but not wanting to be together. Maddie at times really got on my nerves, she was such a brat at times!! She really needed to work on that. Jasper and Maddie what they really needed was some communication with each other, if they would of just talked, but all they did was have sex the whole book, thats what it felt like, ya some of the scenes were really good, and very hott!!, but it just seemed thats was what preety much what happened in all 3 books, we did get some other action between the packs and the legion in the first and third book, but not alot. I felt like I needed a little bit more than just them getting it on. but I did like the books. Thanks again!!! :)
Louisiana Shifters Collection by Vivian K Wood I received this book in exchange for an honest review by the Author and the “Lovers of Paranormal” Group on Goodreads.com Welcome to the wonderful world of the Shifter, with just a touch of magic and witchcraft to spice things up a little and grab the reader’s attention. This book is a collection of all three books from the Louisiana Shifters Series, namely Shifters in Ascent, Shifters Dream and Shifters Legacy ... all packed into one fantastic book. These books are rich and descriptive. They are well crafted stories with plenty of suspense, adventure and a generous helping of romance and steamy sex scenes which unfold in a smooth and effortless manner. The elements of each story are well balanced out, and are fun and intriguing which will keep you turning the pages until the very end. The writing is descriptive and flows well, and the characters are well described. The only downfall is the editing and continuation, which was a little disappointing. I can’t decide which of the story’s I liked the most, as each one is different and has its own merits and down falls. The first book has a wonderful story, but it needs some attention with the editing and continuation, the same can be said for the second book. The third book is better edited and easier to read as a result. Despite the flaws I loved these books which I found to be a unique and creative spin on your typical paranormal romance book. A very entertaining read from a talented author.
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review for LoP.
The premise of the story is good but the editing is awful. I can forgive typos on every page but not plot flaws and story flow inconsistencies. It’s like the author forgets from one scene to the next what was happening. The reader is often left with the feeling of “Did I miss a chapter somewhere?”. There just isn’t a connection between many events. I blame this on poor editing.
The story starts with abductions by the "Legion" a possibly fanatical religious group that wants to capture or kill all super naturals. Not really sure of their motivation but they provide the threat and the action between sex and romance.
The male shifter is stereotyped as dominant, macho to the extreme, gorgeous and well endowed. The sex scenes are erotic and entertaining. Sex seems to play the largest role in all three books.
I read all three books because I promised but I could have quit at any time.
All three titles in this collection were amazing! I love the characters. I am going to recommend this series to all my friends who read paranormal books because it was such a great read. I am going to keep this one in my favorites to go back to in between new books. I already miss Tessa, Jace, Emma, Connall, Maddie and Jasper. They are so good I could not stop reading. I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal. However I plan on buying one to give as a gift soon.
Oh Shifters how I love you. I loved this books. When it came to the novella, I liked it and wished there was more story about Emma and Connall. They make an appearance in the second book, but it was all too brief. I can't wait for the rest of the series.
I was given a free copy by LoP R2R for an honest review.
The Louisiana Shifter's Collection is Edgy, Complex, Action Packed and Down Right Sexy. Overall: ★★★★★
Vivan Wood manages to create a steamy, sexy series that titillates and plays on your heartstrings as she weaves a tale of a shifter clans Louisiana and Alabama. Packed with romance, hot sex, and even hotter Alphas I stayed up long into the night reading this awesome trilogy. None of her characters fall flat as they develop, providing a sultry tail that had me on my toes, always wondering what would happen next.
The Louisiana Shifter’s Collection includes: Shifter In Ascent, Shifter’s Dream, and Shifter’s Legacy.
Shifter in Ascent follows the story of Tessa and Jace. Tessa is a confused, grief stricken woman who wants nothing more than to rescue someone most dear at almost any cost. But that is where Jace gets in the way, tugging at her heart strings and pulling her into the Shifter world. I felt like I was on an emotional rollercoaster with this piece, clinging too tightly to Tessa that I could feel what she felt and experience what she experienced. Desire what she desired. Between the action and the plot twists I felt like I was on the edge of my seat, scared and excited to find out what happened next. I found myself always wanting to know what happened next and crying out (to the dismay of my slumbering husband) when the story was finally over. If you enjoy a steamy story and lots of action that leaves you feeling like you just can’t read fast enough, this is for you.
Shifter’s Dream is a short piece, but a beautiful one, following Emma and Connall as the male shifter reaches out after the woman of his dreams, literally. It had a great plot, awesome action sequences and dreamy characters that could fuel any reader’s dreams.
Shifter’s Legacy was my favorite, by far. Edgy and fast paced, the story follows Jace’s little sister, Maddie as she finds love in a place she wasn’t expecting. Her own mate. I loved the feistiness and stubbornness of both characters and was really excited (double entendre intended) to experience romance through the characters’ eyes. The Legion is a big threat, topped with inner turmoil of the clans and Maddie’s own inner monologue I couldn’t put it down. I loved the way it followed her while still updating me on Jace and Tessa, giving me that closure I so desperately wanted. Another action packed romance that I had to see through to the end.
My own question is: Who’s next? Rhett, Declan, Kat or Shaw, I have to read more.

I received a copy of the Louisiana Shifter Collection from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review. Where to begin? First there are three stories in one, two full length novels and one short story slapped in between them. I am unsure even how to rate this as I didn't mind the first book, couldn't stand the short story and actually liked the last book.
The problem I have with the three books in general is that with the exception of Maddie the rest was one big ole romance novel cliche. The male characters were completely interchangeable, dominant alpha males with a big dick. That's not necessarily a bad thing just do something to individualize them, Jace and Jasper had pretty much the same background, Legion wiped out family and both are orphans...yawn.
The Legion as the bad guys was really interesting, but needed more background. Why were they taking shifters? What were they after? It had a lot of potential for tension but the whys weren't really filled in enough. In the first novel there were some minor characters I wanted to know more about; Kat, Camilla, Declan and even Maddie. They made the novel worth reading but alas in the last book it was essentially all Jasper and Maddie.
Maddie was the only character I could even relate to, I get having no brain mouth filter and being torn between the desire to travel and your responsibilities at home. I get not wanting to be tied down. Tessa though while interesting I just couldn't connect.
To all romance writers out there I implore you, on bended knee I beg, get rid of the f&^$ing virgin heroine. It has been done to death! This is not a regency romance, it is 2013 for the love of every reader you hold dear create a character that actually owns their sexuality. Thus lies my problem with book one and the short story. Overall I did like the books and would probably read a third one in the series if/when it comes out.
Although I am a big fan of paranormal romances that feature shifters I had trouble with these stories. The basic plots seemed pretty interesting, however I had a hard time getting through these. I can usually finish books pretty quickly, but I had to prod myself to keep going with these. Sometimes you just can't put your finger on why you don't connect with a story or characters and that was the case for me with these stories. I think that the story needed to be filled out more. The reasons for why the shifters were being taken wasn't as detailed as I would have liked. I want more than that the shifters were looked upon as abominations and needed to be destroyed. There were lots of pieces in the stories where things were not fleshed out enough for my taste. If there had been more details I may have liked the stories much more. I think that Wood has a great concept it was just the execution that fell a little flat with me. All in all it was just an okay read for me.
I received a copy of this set from the LOP group in return for an honest review.
I was given this book to read and write an honest review.
***********4.5 Stars*********
I could have stayed up all night and read this book in one sitting. However, my kids and husband needed me to be awake the next day.
Wood has a writing style that keeps you interested and engaged. There were some typos and a few inconsistencies, but if you can overlook them, the book is wonderful. I took it down half a star. Her take on Shifters is new and refreshing. I even broke my virgins turning into world class, orgasmic lovers boycott and finished the first book. There was enough storyline, action and heat to make the books great reads. The novella was a quick read that bought two interesting characters together that could have sustained a full length story. I am anxiously awaiting the next installment.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LOP or Lovers of Paranormal). It was a very interesting combination of three stories. First story was sweet. The second was engrossing. Third one was very very hot. All three stories connected, but it was unevenly. But the stories captivated me to where I wanted to read the next story. I can't wait to see what's next. With some minor flaws, I would highly recommend this book . I Can't wait for the next book and see what will happen between The Legion and The Pack.
**I received this book in exchange for an honest review, LoP** I liked how this series kept me interested from the first chapter, throughout the series, to the last chapter. I enjoyed the 'shifter' aspect of this story. It was well balanced with action, suspense, drama, romance and hot & steamy sex. The characters were interesting to the point of wanting to know more about them. I look forward to reading more in this series. Well written. A great add to your tbr list. Recommended read.
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review for LoP. This book is steamy and hot. Jace is protected Tessa from an old friend Jasper. Tessa and her sister Camilla were kidnapped and tortured. They let Tessa find the shifters so they can kill them. Maddie is Jace little sister. She is mated to Jasper. They are stubborn to the small things. I highly recommend this book!
