Did you know the Bible contains hundreds of fulfilled prophecies made centuries in advance? And did you know that no other book in the world can make that claim? Britt Gillette didn’t. At age 14, he found himself struggling with the universal questions of life. Questions such Who am I? What’s the purpose of life? What happens when I die? And does God exist? So what did he find? He found the answers – every single one of them. And his life has never been the same. In Coming To Jesus, you’ll • Proof of the Bible’s divine authority • Evidence that reveals the Messiah’s true identity • And compelling reasons to believe Jesus is the Son of God Most of all, you’ll find that God really does care about you. When Britt Gillette set out to find the truth, what he discovered changed his life forever. Maybe it will change yours too. More About Coming To Jesus For readers who love Christian apologetics, Christian inspirational tales, or most Christian non-fiction books, Coming To Jesus provides a rare glimpse into the spiritual journey of one man struggling to find answers to the great questions of life. Have you ever wondered, “Does God exist?” Have you ever questioned the purpose of life? Or wanted to know who Jesus really is? Britt Gillette asked those same questions, and he found the answers. Coming To Jesus provides insight into his journey in an easy-to-read, conversational tone most readers will find easy to relate to. If you already know Jesus, this book might bring you closer to Him. If you don’t know Jesus, it might just be the most important book you’ll ever read.
I found this book to be a Curate's Egg - in other words, it was good in parts. First the good bits:
Britt Gillette manages to lay before us the Biblical proof of the existence and life of Jesus and that He is the Messiah foretold by the Prophets. He does so with elegant simplicity and his biblical references are suggestions, therefore the reader can explore at will without the narrative being interrupted. In an era where the Bible is not taken as a factual account by most, I would have liked to see other references from archaeology and history - they do exist - but that is not what the author is about. He is a firm believer in taking the Bible word for word.
Now this is where I foresee a major difficulty and reason for debate. Unless you are fluent in Hebrew/Aramaic and have access to copies of very early Bible texts it is hard to take it too literally.
Let's take this one vital phrase from John 14:6-
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
There are many translations of this. Now I was brought up with the King James version myself (bearing in mind King James was quite a flawed character, but this was the English Anglican tradition for centuries).
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
The word is BUT not EXCEPT, a small nuanced difference, but still a difference in meaning.
Young's Literal Translation on the other hand is:
"Jesus saith to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life, no one doth come unto the Father, if not through me"
Now that would imply something else altogether more inclusive of non-Christians, wouldn't it? If you come to the Father, you must have done so through following Jesus' teachings in some way?
Why is this important? Because Britt Gillette is the kind of Christian who believes literally in Heaven and Hell and that it doesn't matter how you behave on this Earth because if you call on Jesus you will be saved even if you have behaved wickedly and yet, if you don't you believe in Him, you will be damned even if you behave and live like a saint. This is the case because God so loved the world that he gave his only Son to die for our sins. Did he give him to die only for Christians' sins I find myself wondering? Now that doesn't seem like a very loving Father to me and this is the part of his book that I personally found distasteful. Mr Gillette is of course entitled to his own beliefs but I believe to base this doctrine on one translation of one of Jesus's many sayings is not going to help any thinking person come to Jesus, on the contrary it could drive people away. The very people who need to find Him.
He alludes to some of his own experiences and shortcomings and how Jesus helps him to overcome those and that was a very positive thing to share, for that I am grateful. Worth a read, but more about evangelism than self-help.
I'm going to give this book at 4. When I first started reading it I found myself almost putting it down but as I kept reading it picked up my interest. This book is geared more towards non-Christian rather than a Christian for which I am. It starts out are telling you about the circumstances in his life which lead him to search for the truth. After this he goes on showing how through fulfilled prophecy that the Bible can be trusted and is true. Then it goes on showing you how the Old Testament predicts the coming of the Messiah and that it is Jesus Christ. At the end of the book he gives a gospel message how to come to faith in Christ.

I don't want to ever knock anyone’s faith, but the arguments for believing in Jesus here were just not convincing. This isn’t about religion—it’s about the way arguments were built, and honestly, they fell short. Telling readers to “just Google it” (several times) isn’t a real argument, and it definitely didn’t make me want to keep reading. I was hoping for more thoughtful, grounded reasoning, not mental shortcuts. Overall, it just wasn’t a good read.
I am familiar with this author from his contributions to the Rapture Ready Forum, I enjoyed reading his work. An exception I have with this book is the God shaped Hole reference. This concept stems from Pascal and Saint Augustine and I feel it is too easy to get off on a humanism path with this sort of preaching. My heart is desperately wicked, I don't need a hole filled, I need a new heart. Mr. Gillette has done a fine job with this book and I highly recommend it for both new and seasoned believers, but don't stop here; There is a storehouse of great articles from Mr. Gillette which are well worth the few minutes and keystrokes to find and absorb.
think every person should read this book from front to back ! It made things so clear to understand! Opened my eyes to things I did not know! Britt has a clear calling from God!! That's for sure!!
I have to take exception to some of the things Mr Gillette said in the first half of the book, No where in the OT or the NT for that matter is the term AD used. None of the predictions of His death referred to AD. I am not sure when BC and AD were first brought into being but would guess some time around the rule of Constantine.. Since AD or Anno Domini means the "Year of our Lord". As small thing, but as I have always known that, "the devil is n the details." It gives people a hook to grab onto and discredit and entire treatise. I daresay that a statement like that given is a dissertation for a Doctorate would get it disqualified.
I enjoyed Gillette's story of how he found Jesus and was saved. I am a Catholic and while reading this book I came to realise the Mr. Gillette may well be a Born Again Christian, though he doesn not say he is and I am only guessing from the content.
He gives good direction on finding Jesus and living in Jesus. I recommend this as a very good read and instruction manual. He is clear in all of his thoughts; there is little if any ambiguity. Overall a very good read.
I enjoyed reading this mans journey to becoming a Christian and found it helpful in relation to my beliefs. If you are unsure whether Jesus exists or want to explore your beliefs then this is the book for you. I liked the way that he didn't always quote from the book but told you where to go in the bible to read it for youself
A fast-paced argument for Christianity and why it makes sense. Gillette's arguments are a bit simplistic and don't always align with my own but interesting to read. I prefer a bit more in-depth and nuanced religious texts, but this would be a good introduction to the idea of Jesus as Messiah for many.
Good read for the Christian to think about his/her beliefs. Also for the open minded seeking for answers
A lot of things to think about. For the believer shows we're the bible fits into Life. For the open minded may give something to think about,. If not for your self it may help you understand your Christian friends and family
I found this book very enlightening. If you want to get closer to Jesus, and understand the Bible more, this is the book to read. Very informative and very well written. Just about to start reading this author's next book that follows on from this one, then on to the others he has written too!
Clear, cogent and rational presentation of the way to God
I appreciate the reminders of the many prophesies (historical as well as about Jesus Christ) that were fulfilled with precision. These promises truly compelled me to be a diligent student the prophecies of the return of Jesus Christ. I highly recommend this serious and life-changing book.
Britt is an excellent communicator, both in writing and verbally. If you don’t know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, his account explains why you need Him. If you already know Him as your personal Lord and Savior, use this book to share with others!! Great job, Britt!!
I really enjoyed Britt Gilette's book. Not raised in church, he nevertheless had many questions, such as why am I here and what is my purpose in life. These questions were answered when he came to Jesus.
The author has written a very interesting book that will help the lukewarm believers come to have a much better understanding of the Bible. His beliefs and words will be a great influence on many of the nonbelievers.
Wonderful GOD'S word focused study of the Biblical prophecies about JESUS. Reading them for myself was so enlightening. I pray my joy will reach out to all the people I encounter and strengthen me to share Christ.
Easy going casual style with a lot of common sense behind it. This book is an apologetic for that Christian faith. There are no concerns or complaints concerning this book. It's brief style makes it easy to master.
The author has done lots of work researching the subject, but encourages his readers to check out his findings for themselves. Material is presented in a very logical fashion which made it easy to read. The author seemed very humble to me.

The author details his experiences with 'coming to' the Lord, or coming to Christ. It's a fairly good read inasmuch as the author is quite honest in his narrative and expression of how he came to faith in Jesus Christ.
I enjoyed reading this book through its simplicity and factual narrative of the scripture. It puts many things that are found in the scripture into perspective especially about Christ.
to anyone seeking the truth about who we are in Christ. He gave us eternal life. Britt thank you for sharing your story with everyone for free. May God bless you for your obedience to Him.
I was looking for help and encouragement. I certainly found it ! now I want to find csearopies of the book so I can share it with friends and family ..
This is the most wonderful telling of one man using God's gift of curiosity and intellect to find the truth about Jesus. As a Jew, I walked with him on this journey... rejoicing.
Loved this book, loved the honesty and down to earthess of it all. Learnt some wonderful things that can be applied in our daily lives. Just what I needed to hear at the right time. Lovevyour work britt. I am also a child of the king. Amen
Chose five stars because this book is that good. It can change your life. It changed mine. I would recommend this to anyone who does not know Jesus Christ.
