3.5 stars

I struggled with this rating. The main reason was that my enjoyment was higher than the quality of the writing. However, this is the first novel by this author so I am giving her some slack.

The troupe is one that I enjoy but I know some do not. Abused heroine seeks shelter away from her abuser and finds a new man.

This heroine was abused but she did not allow herself to be a victim for that long. She did the right thing protecting herself and her baby. I liked Deanna. She was not TSTL at all. Was not weapy or whiney. She did not close herself off from men or the world because of a bad experience. She embraced her new life and the people in it.

Nate was a sweetheart. It was love at first sight for join with both Deanna and her baby Holly but he was willing to give them time to heal. Big hulking biker on the floor blowing rasberrys at a baby will injure your street cred. But Nathan did not give two shits. Hell he had the boys decorate the clubhouse in pink and tiaras for Holly's first birthday. This should clue you in that this is not really a biker or MC book. Yes the plot is set around the MC but this is not at all what people think of when they think biker book. These are nice guys that work on bikes, do charity runs and have families. There are some single guys who party hard and hook up with chicks but not at all what you see in other books and you do not actually "see" it in this one.

The writing of the book was ok but not as smooth and connected as I would prefer. Plus the multiple POVs drove me a little crazy. We would be in Deanna's head, as we were most of the time, then it jumps to Nate for a minute, then his brother, then back to Deanna. It was too much. Dual POV is plenty. You can get the other perspectives from conversation with the main characters. I get the brief bad guy snippets. Those you have to do, but I do not need to be in Ethan or Alice or Logan or Megan's heads.

The H/h relationship was solid but I was not connected to them in the beginning. It took 30% of the book to clarify the Vanessa issue and that was too long to wait. I was not invested in the main couple for that period as I believed Nate was still dating her so I was unhappy that he was flirting and clearly interested in Deanna when I believed he had a girlfriend he had just not gotten around to cutting loose. It bugged the shit out of me! I have no clue why the author left me hanging that long. I get that there needed to be some "mandatory" ow/ex drama, but we could have had that without the uncertainty.

The story had an interesting twist at the end. It was not a relationship cliffhanger but was for the suspense plot. I am going to jump right into the second book.

Overall I enjoyed the story for all its cheesy sweetness and thought it was a strong first effort for the author. It was an easy read and I look forward to the next one.

Okay...so I'm not really sure how to rate this book. I don't even know where to begin.

I will start with things I liked:

-I'm a sucker for a damsel in distress with a knight in shining armor. Deanna fit the bill. I loved how she didn't let her abuse make her a weak victim and she grew stronger.

-I love babies and children in romance books...especially when one of the main characters becomes the mommy or daddy. Holly seemed to be an adorable child.

-I always want to try and read a MC book but there always seems to be too many things I can't stand such as the hero having sex with club whores or the men calling women bitches. I found none of that here and I appreciated it but...I'll address that later. They did a lot of good in the community which was awesome especially the cancer ride, which I personally can appreciate.

What I didn't like:

-The most obvious was the writing. It was more of a "telling" and not showing. While there were plenty of descriptions of scenery etc. around Scotland, I just felt it was lacking where I can actually "feel" the emotions or the characters. I was not emotionally invested in them at all. At one point, I was actually bored but I kept going.

-The whole crazy ex thing just didn't work for me. You mean to tell me that no one could locate this guy? Not the MC, not the police, not PI's, not a security firm? Nobody? He kept sneaking around and looking for her but no one could locate him? What about when

-As I said above, I don't usually do well with MC books but this was so mild in that department I don't think it was an actually club. Oh, there were a few club "bitches" thrown in there (they never called them that), a few fights broke out, and a few of the older members were your stereotypical bikers of pot bellies, long hair, and beards

But for the most part, they were just a group who got together and liked bikes.

Hey, not trying to get anyone's panties in a wad just telling you what I read...

-And the one thing I wanted but didn't get was a bad ass MC president. What I got was a guy in charge but I don't know how...he never seemed alpha to me at all. Oh, he growled, and threw wrenches in the wall or slammed open doors. But, I wanted him possessive, knocking people around, warning people off....taking charge. I just didn't see the appeal. I'm sure he was gorgeous especially with his tattoos (I love tattoos) and in his biker gear on his motorcycle. But, he just didn't have the personality to go with the looks.

Overall, I'm going with 2.5 stars. Most of those go to Deanna because she was strong enough to remove herself from the abuse and make a new life for herself and her baby. Hell, she even got and she came out of it like a champ.

I don't really know if I'll read the next one...maybe later. The poor girl just can't catch a break!

I thought this would be a great story, and the idea behind it is what caught my attention...little did I know I would be reading a book report instead of a book.

That's how this story is written, the author is so detached from her characters that it's hard to get into this book. Because of this I HAD to quit reading after 33%. I tried to force myself to continue but I just couldn't!!! Her writing style...whatever it is, is HORRIBLE!!

I am surprised at how much I ended up enjoying this. The first half was only a 3 stars read for me but the second half was really really good. I started to get invested in the story and it left me wanting to read to more about Nate and Deanna. Nate was a fantastic hero and Deanna was sweet yet strong. I also like the fact it was set in Scotland. Also it is a sweeter biker story (not a 1% story). Looking forward to reading book 2.

I enjoyed the story/Plot as it had great potential. The writing style however was lacking. The author kept "Telling" instead of "Showing" if you know what I mean. There were parts that were descriptive when not needed, but then she summarized whole important scenes. She would change whose feelings and history she was summarizing out of the blue too. The cliffhanger ending annoyed me too because I will not bother picking up a sequel. The romance was even very lackluster.

Honestly I'm not trying to be mean. It takes a lot to finish a book, let alone publish it. So I give the author props, but all these high rated reviews have to be done by friend and family or people who just don't read good MC books.

Deanna Grace is running with her young daughter to get away from her abusive boyfriend. She knew it was just a matter of time before he killed her, her best friend has found protection for her with the Ravens MC.

President of the Ravens, Nate Gunn is smitten from the minute he meets Deanna and her little girl. Nate knows Deanna needs time and he is willing to give it, but when it looks as if her ex has located her, Nate does everything he can to protect her.

Great story, however I did not realize that it was more a serial. The Ravens were an unusual MC, they are more of a community not outlaw club. Deanna I had to scratch my head with a bit on how she got into the mess she did. Will pick up the next one for sure.

I was lucky enough to be gifted this book by Vampy's Ramblings so that I could read it and have a discussion with her about the characters and the book in general.

I don't think I've read an MC book before, so I wasn't sure how MC's actually operate. I lay in bed and read this book in little over an hour. Overall, the story was quite good but I do have one kinda big issue that I found somewhat unbelievable.

I have always had respect for a woman who removes herself and her children from an abusive relationship. It takes a great deal of strength and courage to do so. It takes time to pick up the pieces and stop looking over your shoulder.

I really enjoyed the fact that the story is set over months rather than weeks. It made a nice change to see a relationship build up over time instead of a Happy Ever After happening after several days/weeks but With 'Freedom to Ride', I have to say that I was somewhat disappointed by the sudden transition from battered spouse to ready to have a relationship and I think that somewhat put a blight on Deanna's character. Especially from the get go.
"What's wrong with that?" I hear some people ask. Well, bear in mind that her now ex-boyfriend kicked the living daylights out of her, she's been 'looking over her shoulder' since she escaped the house, fearful that her ex will come and get her, do you honestly think that she would feel ANYTHING that quickly for a man she has only just laid eyes on?
I can only imagine that any woman who had been through what Deanna had experienced would be in shock, feeling terrified and in a lot of pain. Not eyeing up a new man some hours later.

With Deanna's character I did like the fact that she pulls herself together and decides no more tears, but yet she doesn't get complacent as she is still aware of the dangers.
Nate's character was refreshing for me. Sure, he's portrayed as Deanna and Holly's protector but he's not made out to be some kind of Superman who is afraid of nothing and no-one. He too has fears, and he worries about things, like any man would do.
Suzanne Clark's character balance is pretty much spot on. Although, I found Nate to be a bit of a nymphomaniac LOL. Does the man not ever be tired?

There was three parts of this book that made me laugh out loud: Logan's dare, how Deanna hides Nate's birthday present and when Deanna gets feisty with some tramp in the bar. All three of these scenes made me chuckle out loud.
The sex scenes didn't bother me as they weren't overly graphic and they did fit in with the story. They sort of became a natural progression of the relationship.

Overall, I did quite enjoy 'Freedom To Ride'. It was an easy read, quite easy to keep in mind who was who. A nice twist at the end gave me an OMG moment and I would definitely like to read more from this author. Due to the fact I didn't like how Deanna quickly gets over her ex (I'm sorry, I truly don't find that believable) 'Freedom To Ride' will be getting 4 Shamrocks instead of 5.

It's told on a third person and I have to admit i enjoyed the story.

I've categorized MC's in 3, Bad, In Between, and Good. So this is a Good MC. They don't get involved in anything bad. They are totally free of drugs which is a good change for starters, all there business in legit and still there MC is well known.

So we have Deanna, who was beaten by her boyfriend and runs away with her baby girl with the help of her friend. Her friend being the sister of the VP of the Raven's MC offers them a place to stay.

Nate, is the President of the Raven's MC.

I like the story because it's goes on pretty fast. Both fall in love with each other but both know Deanna needs time to overcome all the manhandling of her ex boyfriend. When it comes times for them to try it, they don't hesitate on trying. That's completely a plus to me. I hate when girls think they are not enough. Deanna went thru some crappy stuff and she was unsure of herself but that didn't stop her from trying to have a relationship with Nate.

You must love Nate. He is reasonable, compassionate to an extreme that is just wonderful, protective and you just can't stop yourself from loving him.

Really looking forward for the next book. Because, we sure don't like cliffhangers, but this one I just thought it felt right.

This was an interesting book. It was a more tell then show me book. However, it was a summarized telling, and glosses over parts as well as time frames being fast forward... I surprisingly liked it, for the most part.

I had only wished that I was able to have been allowed to invest more emotionally into the characters. The author doesn't allow the reader to become involved like that. There's not enough in the way of the characters to get to know them on a deeper level other then what they briefly tell the readers.

Decent writing style. Doesn't pull me into story as much as I like--more describing events instead of thoughts and dialogue. Good characters. Really liked the H in this one--super alpha/possessive. Time line jumps forward rapidly--a lot. Makes the flow a little confusing. All together, a sweet, more laid back MC book.

I don't know how to begin with this story as their is so much awesomeness and yet not wanting to give anything away, so to sum it all up, I'll start by saying that, that the overall story itself is just beautiful & raw (based on the heavy topic that is addressed and I feel handle with care, and even at times given others in a similar situation hope that things will & can change & that their are choices and people out their that do care, which I thought was awesome) & a story line that is awesome and intense, but flows easy and stays on point from start to finish. It is told in multiple pov's at all times making it different, but in such a fabulous and awe inspiring way, that it just added such much more power to the story it self and increasing the raw beauty of it at the same time, the characters all of them are done to perfection and are strong & easy to bond with & I love that it's done with their accents which I absolutely adore and fell in love with (special with how talented the author is by how I was able to hear in my head their accents just by the way she wrote them on paper, which I found completely magical and mind blowing) & then you add suspense, drama, mystery, humor, action, passion & love all on the highest level and rolled into one incredible and breathe taking adventure,. what a extremely phenomenal 5 star heart melting and edge of your seat story, I seriously recommend this story as a must read & I'm so looking forward to the second book in this two book series <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 well done :)

I picked up this little gem for 99 cents yesterday and wow...what a cute, sweet and at times very violent story.
Deanna and her baby girl are taken in under the protection of an MC in Scotland to escape her very abusive and crazy EX.
I loved the setting being in a different country than the US or Australia (which is where most of the biker books I have read come from) and even though the language and expressions were foreign at times, it was not too jarring and easy to follow.
The story itself was different as was Nate...the big, bad, sexy, alpha male biker, who happened to be the most gentle protector of a baby girl and her mom ever!
This book has much of the familiar clubhouse action, family drama, girl on girl fighting over a man and whatnot...and just when things calm down, you just know trouble is never far behind.
Although you get a sort of HEA at the end...there is also a surprise twist and some things are left unfinished, which leads me to believe there will be a sequel in the works...hopefully?
All in all a really enjoyable read at a great price!

I just finished this book and although I liked it I really feel it could have been alot better. It needed more feeling to it and although I love some love at first site romances, I cant fall for the she is half beaten to death and feeling romantic feelings for a man that just stepped off a motorcycle.I have been in an abusive relationship and I can guarantee at no point in time after being knocked around did I ever see a man and be like oh I want that man.not everyone's opinion I know but it is mine.
The hea is here in this book for a brief second. Wth is up with that last paragraph?
I would still recommend this book just because even with all the negative things I think or wrote it comes down to the fact that this book is about a woman who has survived atrocious actions to her and still manages to trust and love the man of her dreams

This was amazing story, 1- about domestic abuse... Deanna was abused by her boyfriend Lee but she had a BFF Megan that helped her and her daughter Holly escape from England and went to Megan's twin brother, Logan(VP) MC to hid away until she can find a job and a home. 2- Love, She fell in love at first sight with Nate the president of the Ravens MC and they become inseparable all the times she has been there. 3- Revenge, The ex Lee is on the hunt for Deanna and now he found her and will take his revenge for leaving him and also what her father did before she was even born. 4- Payback, Deanna had to become a victim yet again from Lee's attack, but this time she went down legally and paying for his sins. This has a cliffhanger in a way but you will have to read this to know what all is going one.

This book is one of my all time favorite books. I love the straight but yet. Vulnerability Diana shows, and the protective news yet gentle and loving side of Nate. The way Holly goes to Nate so freely and openly and how secure she feels with him helps to show what a good man Nate really is and it also helps you Hannah feel safe and secure and know that what she has chosen to do is the right thing for her daughter The way the love story unfolds between the two is a unique but very sensual story to read I love how the MC is not one of the bad ass lawbreaking groups but instead law-abiding and brings a good name back to the biker world this book has inspired me in more than one way and I look forward to reading more and hope that the ravens MC will have more stories to tell soon

This was an enjoyable read. Different from other mc books I think because it has more of a romantic feel. The club life is more subtle rather than hardcore like the other books. I think that's what I liked. Don't get me wrong, I love all the other mc books, but I guess this was kind of like a breath of fresh air so to speak. The h has been through the ringer with her crazy ex and moves with her friend to the brother's house who is a member of an mc. When she sees the prez it is love a first sight and from there the story goes. It was a happy feel good read for me. I will read from this author again.

OMG.... I loved this book. I have to say for a first time author that you did great. I don't normally do reviews, as I am not as picky as most but felt that this one needed the attention. Their were some misspellings and things I didn't understand due to the British dialect.
One thing I was not sure of was the idea of a MC being straight... (I.E. no drugs, guns etc). But as it turns out it worked great for this book. The sex scenes could be a little more detailed, and use a little more spice. All in all I would give this book a 4.5 out of 5 stars. Thank you Suzanne Clark!

This book was boring, it lost my interest when the author kept narrating the story. It lacked emotional depth and description. The domestic abuse captured my attention but then was lost, as I couldn't connect with the characters. For an MC book it was over the top goodie two shoes. Get real, to us outsiders biker's are suppose to be dangerous Harley ridding badass, who don't take crap from anyone. Sure that stereotyping, but as a reader that's what I expect.

A mom escaping an abusive boyfriend who wants to see nothing but this woman destroyed. She makes a friend who helps her escape and moves under the protection of the Ravens MC.

There, love at fist sight for both her and her baby girl.

A very sweet tooth kind of read. The drama is pretty brutal but its more love/love and hunting than anything else.

Cute read, but at times wanted to just skim through to get it over with and find out what happened.

Not your average mc novel. I absolutely loved this book because the characters are very sweet and it's not like your tipical mc novel where there is a bunch of cheating and killing and of course the terrible story plots. This one had a very different plot then the rest and trust me I have read my fair share of mc novels this spring. But I enjoyed it and I do recommend

Loved it.

This book was amazing, Nate is the perfect guy, sweet, protective, kind, generous, and how he loved Holly like she was his amazed me. The girl, Deanna isn't whiney and helpless and always playing the victim and I liked that. This was a good book and I would recommend it. It does have a little bit of a cliffhanger though.

CLIFFHANGER
Kinda hard to describe.
First 75% enjoyed the story felt emotionally detached. Last part started to feel a connection & finished really creepy.

About a woman & baby fleeing from an abusive man, finding new life, love, contentment & family. Then to have her past lead practically to her door by vindictive women.
