His Best Friend's Girl: A Best Friends to Lovers Contemporary Romance

Rate this book
True love might be patient…but how long is too long?

Ethan Bravo had been in love with Matilda Hunt since…well, since before she was Matilda Hunt, actually. Because he and Gabe Hunt had been best friends since high school. So Matty was off-limits to Ethan. Even now, after Matty has been a widow for three years, he considers her forbidden fruit. It was easy when she lived in LA, but now Matty’s moved home for good. And instead of betraying his best friend’s memory and revealing his heart, Ethan settled for being her confidant.

Except Matty is pregnant with the child from her now ex-boyfriend — a man who wants nothing to do with Matty or the baby. So Ethan is stepping up, becoming the one man Matty can trust. Sharing his true feelings now would shatter that trust. And Ethan can’t risk losing Matty — again. He can be the one man she deserves, even if keeping his secret could break his heart.

I’m very late to the Bravo clan but I didn’t feel lost among its many faces as I read. I loved the tropes of he fell first and friends to lovers. I had to laugh at how Insistent Matty was that her and Ethan’s “arrangement” was temporary and they would resume their friendship as before. I think she had too much LA smog in her system. Once you cross a certain line there’s no going back, ever. I despaired that she would ever realize the absolute prize she had in front of her. My heart broke for Ethan several times as he was willing to settle for heart crumbs until he wasn’t. Sometimes a person has to walk away for their own self preservation. Ultimately, everyone got their heads in the right places and the Wyoming women could woohoo it with their hunky men! Thanks to Christine Rimmer and Harlequin for the early copy.

Matilda “Matty” Hunt has come home to stay. Her life changed significantly in the last few years. Matty became a widow and had a disastrous relationship when trying to move on, which resulted in an unplanned pregnancy that she wanted her baby to grow up like she did. Ethan Bravo moved home to Medicine Creek years ago, his reason was that he missed home, but that was only part of the reason. He'd moved to Los Angles along with his best friend and his wife to go to college. Ethan is now a lawyer in his hometown and thinks he's moved on from falling in love with his friend's wife. That is until Matty moves home for good, and Ethan becomes her best friend. Will Ethan be able to resist Matty who was His Best Friend's Girl?

His Best Friend's Girl is the latest book in the Bravo Next Generation and Family Ties in her on going Bravo series from Christine Rimmer. Matilda “Matty” Hunt has come home to Medicine Creek to stay after a disastrous relationship and an accidental pregnancy. She's taking over her family's bookstore from her mother. She wants her child to have the same upbringing that she had. Matty's first visit was to her & her late husband's best friend. All three of them went off to college together with Ethan Bravo moving back to their hometown. His reason for leaving Los Angles years ago was he missed home. Ethan has now become a lawyer in their hometown. And he's the first stop Matty makes after moving home. As they days go by and they spend just about every waking hour together their relationship takes on a physical aspect. It's supposed to be a friend with benefits until her baby is born. Things don't go as planned because neither of them really wants it to end. Matty and Ethan have to figure out their feeling and what will happen to them.

Christine Rimmer's newest book in her long running Bravo series is His Best Friend's Girl. This story is about Ethan Bravo and Matty Hunt who are friend and when she moves home to Medicine Creek become more. Rimmer continues with His Best Friend's Girl which is the 69th book in the Bravo series and 26th in the Family Ties sub-series and number 6 in her Bravo Next Generation series. This series is focused on the children of the Bravos in the first nine books in the series her were just children when she wrote them. His Best Friend's Girl takes the reader on an emotional ride with the two main characters. A man realizes that he's still in love with his late best friend's wife even though he thought he was over her. Matty widowed when her husband died three years ago thought it was time to move on only to have a monumental disastrous relationship and accidentally getting pregnant. She moves home to give her child the life she had. She doesn't want another relationship, but an affair would be great until the baby is born with the person, she considers her best friend. Rimmer keeps the heat of the passionate physical relationship between them. A deal just may result in more for both of them. This reader is a fan of Christine Rimmer and a member of her review team. So, I honestly can say that I loved the book and her Bravo characters. There is conflict, drama, passion, and lives who are meant to be together if they can leave the past behind them and concentrate on the future. It takes quite a bit of emotion for a book to make me cry but Christine Rimmer always seems to put so much emotion into the relationship of her characters. If you're a fan of Ms. Rimmer's, then this is a must read for you. If you're looking for a new author who can tug at all your emotions, then His Best Friend's Girl is for you. I can't wait for the next book in these great series and which Bravo will find their true love. Thank you, Christine Rimmer, for these wonderful stories about a wide and vast blended family who will love from the first book you read.

Terrific friends to lovers story. Three years after the death of her husband, Matty heads home to Wyoming. Her attempt to move on after Gabe's death leaves her pregnant with the child of her ex-boyfriend, who has no interest in the baby or Matty. She moves back to Medicine Creek to raise the baby in her hometown and run her mother's bookstore. She looks forward to seeing her best friend, Ethan.

Ethan was Gabe's best friend throughout school, and that friendship extended to Matty when she and Gabe became a couple. They hung out together in college, with Ethan a frequent visitor after Gabe and Matty married. He returned to Wyoming to attend law school and set up his practice in their hometown. He never let on to them that he was in love with Matty. To him, she was, and still is, off-limits.

The first person Matty wants to see when she gets home is Ethan. She feels overwhelmed, and Ethan is her anchor. They spent more and more time together, from cooking to watching movies. Ethan insists on helping her prepare for the baby, including volunteering as her labor coach. Ethan realizes quickly that his feelings for Matty have grown. He keeps quiet about them because Matty is emphatic that she will not marry again, and he doesn't want to ruin their friendship.

Matty does her best to ignore the attraction she feels for Ethan until the day the sparks burst into flame. Once they recover from the shock of the experience, Matty suggests a pre-baby fling. Take advantage of the lull before the storm, and when the baby arrives, go back to being friends only. She firmly believes that she can keep her heart safe. She was clearly fooling herself, and I ached for Ethan, who wanted so much more. I cheered for him when he stood up for his needs and hoped Matty would finally realize the truth of her feelings for Ethan. I loved the emotional ending and seeing her let go of her fears.

There was a secondary story about Matty's cousin Heather and her husband Billy. Heather frustrated me through most of the book - I just wanted to shake her. I liked that Matty didn't give up on her, but I could feel her frustration.

Another wonderful Bravo story!

What can I say? The Bravo Family has become one of my favorite families and that is including all the branches of this huge family tree. Ms. Rimmer has revisited Medicine Creek, Wyoming and this time we are getting to know and love Ethan Bravo and the long-time love of his life, Matilda “Mattie” Hunt. Ethan and Mattie grew up together, but Mattie fell in love with Ethan’s best friend, Gabe. Together, the three of them moved to California for school and the trio were family for each other so far from home. After Ethan returned to Medicine Creek, Mattie and Gabe continued in California until Gabe tragically died. Mattie remained in California for a few more years until she returned home to take over the family bookstore and raise the baby she was expecting. The first person she had to break the news to be her best friend, Ethan. Ethan was still secretly in love with Mattie which is the reason why he came home to Medicine Creek and he takes this opportunity to help Mattie in any way that he can and to be there for her as much as she will let him.

Ethan and Mattie quickly became one of my favorite couples. They balanced each other and were truly yin and yang for each other. This friend to lover story is heart-warming and well done. When I first opened the book and started reading the first couple of pages to get a feel for it, I had to make myself put the book down and I was already 30 pages in. This story had many facets with Matty’s relationship with her parents as an only child and the side story of Matty’s cousin Heather, who is like a sister to her but having her own relationship struggles with her husband Billy. Heather made me want to scream at times, but it was nice to see how Mattie was able to deal with her other relationships along with her new relationship with Ethan. Another great story from Ms. Rimmer and I am anxiously awaiting the next one!

Fans of the original Bravo Family Ties series will find this latest installment an enchanting “friends to lovers” read. "His Best Friend’s Girl" follows Ethan Bravo, a character whose family was introduced in "Practically Married".

Ethan later appeared as a little boy in Starr Bravo’s story, and is now a fully grown man. The female lead character, Matty Hunt, is Ethan’s longtime friend and the widow of his deceased friend Gabe. Matty, in the throes of trying to figure out how to move on from her late husband, ends up expecting a child with an ex-boyfriend who has no intention of being a father.

This slow-burn, "friends to lovers" romance takes a compelling twist as Matty comes home to Medicine Creek, and re-kindles her friendship with Ethan, but also must face her feelings for him.
Their relationship is laden with the theme of "fear of the unknown". This theme is mirrored in the subplot involving Matty's cousin Heather and her husband Billy. Both couples must work through breaking old patterns and embracing new beginnings.

Ethan, now a lawyer, has grown somewhat cynical about true love after handling numerous cases where relationships fell apart. This skepticism adds an interesting layer to his character as he and Matty navigate their deep-rooted friendship, both wary of risking what they have for what could be.
This book is a testament to the enduring charm of the 3 original Bravo Family Ties books, appealing to long-time fans and newcomers alike. The author excels at maintaining the integrity of both the main and secondary characters, ensuring they remain true to their original personalities, while seamlessly introducing new characters into the mix as well.

A return to Medicine Creek is always a great read!

I always enjoy a great story especially when the family owns a bookstore, and the daughter comes back to town to run it. I really enjoyed Ethan and Matilda (Matty), and I loved how it didn’t take long at all for them to catch up and go right back into being the best friends they always were before time and distance. After Matty’s husband passed away and some other things that happened in her life, she decided it was time to come home and run the family bookstore and also become a single mom. I just really liked watching these two just hang out, cook together and be there for each other, just like old times. Ethan stepped up to be her birth coach, but he kept a secret from Matty about his girlfriend and I have to admit that I wasn’t surprised when everything there came to a head, but I wasn’t a fan of her making a scene like she did. Matty’s cousin Heather was also part of this book, and I have to admit at first, I wasn’t a fan of hers and I was definitely team Billy but as the story progressed, she definitely came around. We did have a little road bump between Ethan and Matty when Ethan finally admitted the big secret that he'd been keeping for years, and I don’t blame Matty for acting like she did. I was however beyond excited when the big day came for Matty that her cousin Heather stepped up and saved the day. I really liked how everything came together in the end and things ended on a good note for both Matty and Ethan but Heather and Billy as well. Can’t wait to see what is coming next from this author.

Matilda Hunt has had a rough few years. With the loss of her husband three years ago and then she finds her new boyfriend in bed with another women, she has decides to head home. She’s pregnant with her loser boyfriend’s baby and he wants nothing to do with it. So she has a plan. Raise the baby on her own and run her mother’s bookstore. She can’t wait to see her best friend, Ethan Bravo. He’s an attorney. He’s kind, smart, handsome and a guy who will have your back. Ethan never told Matty that he had a big crush on her. She and his best friend have been together since high school. He knew she was off limits. As the two spend time together, the feelings start to bubble up again. Can he confess his feelings to Matty? She’s not interested in another marriage. She had her one true love. Matty and Ethan start a fling before the baby arrives. What can go wrong? Everyone can see that they have chemistry. Will she walk away? Will he confess his feelings? Can they become a family? Can they both let go and realizes that they are still young enough to have a second chance with each other? Her husband isn’t coming back. The characters are wonderful. They need to move forward with their future and not let guilt get to them. I was rooting for these two. Wonderful read. Loved it. I received this book for my honest review. I give it voluntarily

Christine Rimmer has done it again with her wonderful new Bravo romance His Best Friend's Girl! Matilda Hunt has finally returned home to Medicine Ridge after a life full of adventure, tragedy, and heartbreak. Her husband, Gabe, died in a tragic accident three years ago. When Matilda tries to find love again, she falls for a cheater and is now home after 12 years single, pregnant, and wiser. Home to her beloved family and her husband's best friend Ethan Bravo.
Ethan Bravo has always loved Matilda but would never betray his friendship with Gabe by pursuing Matilda...until Matty takes matters into her own hands and admits her attraction to Ethan. How can he resist the woman he has always loved?
I just loved this romance!!! The heat sizzles between Ethan and Matty! His Best Friend's Girl is just a wonderful heartwarming romance that you will not be able to put down. The attraction between Ethan and Matty is electric and their love story is captivating.
Rimmer is brilliant at creating gorgeous, sexy heroes that you will fall in love with and realistic, complex, smart heroines.
I am always so excited to read Christine Rimmer's gorgeous, sexy romances! I can't recommend His Best Friend's Girl enough! You will just love it!!! Can't wait for the next compelling Bravo romance!!!

Amazing read! I could not put this down. Ethan Bravo & Gabe Hunt were best friends in school and then there was Gabe’s girl Matty who became a group of 3 all the way through high school, college and after. Matty & Gabe married and Gabe dies suddenly in a plane crash while on a photo assignment in Africa. Fast forward 3 years and Matty gets on Tinder to try to move on, meets a man, moves him in, walks in on him cheating, kicks him to the curb but he left her a present. She finds she is pregnant and he wants nothing to do with the baby. Matty moves from Los Angeles back to Medicine Creek to take over her Mom’s book store and Ethan is also there. Ethan has secretly loved Matty all these years but respectful of Gabe even after his death, keeps his feelings to himself.

This is such a wonderfully written story that also includes Matty’s cousin from her Moms side in it, that I do not want to give anything away. I promise you that from page 1, you will be sucked in and will not want to put this story down!

Love, love, love this 'next generation' of Bravo's. This book focuses on Ethan Bravo and his best friend's widow Mathilda.

Coming home to Medicine Creek Wyoming, Matilda 'Mattie' Hunt has decided to leave Los Angeles, disgusted, exhausted, and pregnant. Her husband tragically died 3 years ago. After finally dipping her toes in the dating pool, she finds out her live-in boyfriend is a cheater. She is done. She is looking forward to reconnecting with her family, old friends, and especially Ethan, a friend since she was first with her husband.

After reconnecting, Mattie and Ethan pick up right where they left off. They just work so well together. They have a friend history, that is rapidly becoming so much more. Deciding to act on their attraction, but not forever, makes them realize that maybe everything will work out for them.

This is another feel good read by Christine Rimmer. I so enjoyed this book and look forward to more books in this series!

Matty, Gabe and Ethan have always been friends. They all went to California to go to college together. Matty and Gabe at one and Ethan at another. Matty and Gabe eventually got married and they settled into careers. Ethan went home to Wyoming to finish law school. After a unfortunate accident, Matty winds up being widowed. After a few years she decides to start dating again and that was a disaster. She decides to go home to Medicine Creek to have her baby and take over her mother's book store. Ethan has a thriving law firm and is happy to reconnect with Matty. He still views her as Gabe's girl even though Gabe is gone. Fate has other plans for these two. Even though Ethan tries to fight his attraction to Matty. She has other ideas for a pre baby fling. Read the story to find out what happens to both Matty and Ethan. You won't regret it.

Poor Ethan Bravo. In love with his best friend’s girl for years. He had moved to the West Coast to be near them, but went back home relatively shortly thereafter. His best friend dies, but the girl he loves stays on the West Coast. Now she has moved back home to Wyoming, too. Pregnant from an ex-boyfriend.
“His Best Friend’s Girl” proved to be one of those hard-to-put-down books. “Watching” Ethan and Mattie renew their friendship, become best friends themselves, was a treat! Do yourself a favor and buy this book. “Watch” this book and see how Ethan and Mattie travel from friends, to best friends, to….. You won’t regret the money or time spent.

Another great book by a fabulous author. Christine's books are well written. Make you feel like you are a part of the story.
Matty and Gabe were married. Gabe died and Matty moved back to Wyoming. Ethan and Gabe were best friends. He considered Matty off limits. Matty finds out she is pregnant with her now ex boyfriend's baby and he wants nothing to do with either of them. Ethan decides to be the man Matty and the baby need. A man she can trust. He can't share his feelings with her, as he feels he would loose her again, and he can't bear to risk loosing her again. Pick up the book to see how this story ends.

I'm normally a fan of Christine Rimmer books but this one was a huge let down.

I felt like so much of the second half of the book was taken up with Heather and Billy's story. I had no idea who these characters were beyond Heather being Matty's cousin, so I didn't really care about what happened to them.

Why didn't Rimmer focus more on Matty and Ethan's story instead of wasting time with this couple?

And the discussions between Matty and Heather when Matty was trying to get to the root of their problem was downright tedious and repetitive. Disappointing read.

Mattie, Gabe and Ethan had been friends for a long time. They did everything together. Mattie and Gabe were married but Ethan still hung around and they all did everything together. When Ethan lived near them in LA he decided to move back to their hometown. Then Gabe passed away in an accident and Mattie came home for his funeral. She went back to LA and put some distance between her and Ethan.

Now she is back home and she wants her friendship with Ethan again. Check out this story. As with any book by Christine Rimmer you won't be disappointed.

What a great story, Matty and Ethans from friends to lovers.
Ethan Bravo had already had feelings for Matilda (Matty) Hunt. But Matty had always been his bestfriends Gabes wife. But Gabe had past 3 years before and now Matty is back pregnant from her ex boyfriend.
Once Matty told Ethan she was pregnant he stepped up to be her pregnancy coach and the romance started to bloom from friends to lover's from there.
I loved all the extra characters that were brought in and their storyline as well.

Another wonderful Bravo story from Christine Rimmer! Ethan had feelings for Mattie years before when she was married to his best friend. After losing her husband and a failed relationship with another man, Mattie moves home to take over the family business. It isn't long before friendship turns into love between Ethan and Mattie. This was a fast read and a great story. I look forward to the next Bravo story!

This was the first book in this series that I have read but it won't be the last. I liked it so much I will go back and read the previous books. The characters were likable and I enjoyed getting to know Matty and Ethan. There was chemistry between them from the beginning but it took till the ending of the book for Matty to realize Ethan was the one for her. A happily ever after is always the right way to end a book.

A delightful trip into the Bravo generations
His Best Friend’s Girl is a delightful read with lots of “historical” Bravo characters. (Book #26—here!)
Ethan and Matty were HS classmates. Best friend Gabe dies tragically (off page). Takes each of them a while to realize what is right in front of them. What a great short read for a cold winters day!

Thanks for the great story, Christine Rimmer

His Best Friend's Girl is the twenty-sixth book in Christine Rimmer’s Bravo Family Ties series. Matty and Ethan are great characters that have been through so much together. I loved seeing them have fun as they built their relationship. I always enjoy when Ms. Rimmer takes us back to this iconic family. I highly recommend reading His Best Friend’s Girl along with the other books in this series. I received an advance copy which I chose to read and review. This is my honest opinion.

Matilda has decided it’s time to move back home, the big city wasn’t what she wanted anymore.
Her parents are happy she’s back as is her cousin and her best friend, Ethan. Ethan was also her husband’s best friend before he passed away.
This is a great story of coming home and the things you can discover there.
Christine Rimmer is a fantastic storyteller and has woven a wonderful tale and amazing characters. Grab this book, I’m certain you will enjoy it!

I enjoy how you still get to see his past characters are doing. A must read if you love the Bravo family.

Matilda “Matty” Hunt's life has changed, and she has come home to stay. Matty is now a widow, her relationship was not good, and she is pregnant. She wanted her baby to grow up in the same environment she did. Ethan Bravo moved back to Medicine Creek a few years back. He missed his hometown and is now a lawyer. Matt and Ethan become best friends. He is having trouble falling for his best friend's girl.

I LOVED the slow burn aspect of this book!! Ethan Bravo has been in love with Matilda Hunt for years but kept his distance because she was his best friend’s wife. But Gabe’s been gone and Matty is back home! The friends with benefits arrangement works until he tells her he’s in love with her. Christine Rimmer has done it again with this newest Bravo story. I literally couldn’t put it down.
