In my review of Her Surprise Amish Match, I said that Florene’s story in the next book promised to be a powerful one. And now that I have read that next book – Her Amish Refuge – I can report that Florene’s story more than lived up to my prediction. We reunite with the youngest Schroder sister, who last we knew had left home and the Amish faith to run off with an Englischer, at the proverbial end of her rope – pregnant, battered, and abandoned to the elements during a rare Texas snowstorm. The first lines – “She’d made a mistake. And she was going to die.” – dramatically capture Florene’s mental, physical, and emotional state as she lays at the bottom of a ditch, tempted to give in to the impending hypothermia that’s already hovering. And to watch her rally and push to her feet out of sheer determination and adrenaline… Well, needless to say, I was engrossed from the very beginning. Wright’s writing in those first few paragraphs is some of her best and really put me there in that snowstorm with Florene as she searched for shelter.
God tends to send redemption in unlikely ways and through unlikely people but always at the right time. Florene’s story definitely demonstrates this, and so does Gilead’s. This almost-seven-foot-tall gentle giant hasn’t ever been anybody’s idea of a hero, not even his own family’s, and you’ll fall in love with him even as he’ll tug at all your emotions. Wright sketches him so endearingly that, like Florene, you’ll quickly see past her rescuer’s outward appearance to his kind heart. The fact that this woman who has walked away from the faith truly sees him and believes in him too – more than anyone else in his Amish community or family does – makes her just as much of an unlikely refuge for him as he becomes for her. Oh how I loved this aspect of the tender relationship that grows between them, and I was so moved by many of their interactions. I kept thinking of the old hymn/spiritual, “There is a Balm in Gilead” and how much Gil felt like a balm to Florene and she to him. (Not balm-like? My feelings and purse-whomping urges toward Gil’s brother and sister-in-law… especially his brother. I’m still glaring at them in my mind.)
Bottom Line: Her Amish Refuge by Pamela Desmond Wright is a sweet and tender romance between two hurting people whose affirmations of the other’s true worth in God – and the subsequent discovery of their own – truly touched my heart. Gil’s steady faith encouraged me, but so did Florene’s honest struggles to believe and her path home. Not just home to her family (a scene I really loved) but home to the God who has been waiting for her with open arms. Wright beautifully weaves in some powerful object lessons and allegories that emphasize the theme of finding our value in God’s definition of us and not anyone else’s, making this my favorite of all the books I’ve read by this author so far! Looking forward to her next story!

What an emotional journey Florene and Gil went on in this story! Even though things were far from perfect at Gil’s family home, Florene did find refuge there both physically and emotionally. She had a lot to work through, from recovering from being in an abusive relationship for the past three years to finding herself pregnant and wondering why she felt no connection to God…if he existed.
Gil had a beautiful faith that helped him stay calm in the face of constant belittlement by his own brother and sister-in-law. I was appalled at the way Eli treated Gil and it made me really feel for him with all of the verbal abuse that he had suffered for years.
This story kept me turning the pages to see how things could possibly work out when it seemed as if things were only getting worse. But the author wrapped everything up with an uplifting ending and happily ever after.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Florene Schroder is back near Burr Oak, Texas, having left the Amish several years earlier. She’s alone and pregnant in the middle of a blizzard. Thank the Lord she stumbles across a barn… Gil Kestler lives with his mother, brother, sister in law and new baby nephew. He breaks and trains wild horses. Gil is a giant of a man, and the target of most of his brother’s barbs. Gil finds Florene and takes her into the house to ride out the blizzard with him and his family. Just like Gil knows there is a gentle heart inside a wild horse, he sees Florene has a heart worth fighting for. Likewise, she is able to look past all the assumptions people have of Gil and find a smart, amazing man within. Her Amish Refuge captivated me from the first page. Author Pamela Desmond Wright has stitched her words together beautifully, creatively, and carefully, much like the craftsmanship of an Amish quilt. If you’ve not met the Schroder sisters of Burr Oak, Texas yet, the time is now. This book is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone. I received a complimentary copy of this book, but my opinion is entirely my own.
I absolutely ADORED this story. From the very beginning, I could not stop reading to see how this would all turn out! Yes, it's an Amish romance, but there also is suspense as well in there that really has you at the edge of your life seats.
Florene is fleeing from an abusive relationship and back to her Amish community. When she's left stranded jn the middle of a snowstorm,God was looking out and she ends up in Gileads barn. Gil is a childhood friend and a gentle giant. He sees Florene needs his help and is struggling and he comes to her aid, and she helps him in return. Florene has no place to go, so she takes up residence with their family for the time being. But the more time she spends with them, the more she desires more for her life. But so much she is unsure of. She has a secret. Her abuser is still out there. She doesnt know if she will be accepted back into the Amish community. Will her family take her back? Could she and Gil have something more?....and would he even want her, once he learns her secret?
This isn't just a romance story, I felt I also gained so much insight spiritually as I read this story. The fresh start that Florene is seeking is such a realistic desire we all want. The way she doubts God and questions his acceptance of her is also a feeling we can all fall victim too. But the faith of Gil, regardless of what was being thrown at him ... was just so powerful. He is just a living testimony in this story. I loved this! Can't wait to read more by Pamela!
I give this 4.5 stars, rounded up to 5!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. This review reflects my own opinion.
This is the type of book you sit down with in the morning and then go through all the emotions before you finish it in the afternoon. There's so much to absorb between an unplanned pregnancy, an abusive husband, and a "gentle giant" who changes everything.
Florence Schroder left her Amish community as a young woman to be with an English man she fell in love with. If she hadn't missed the signs of what type of man he is, she wouldn't be stranded out in the middle of nowhere, beaten, hungry, and afraid. And pregnant. She makes her way into a barn that turns out to be owned by one of the men, Gil Kestler, in her former Amish ordnug. Gil finds her when he goes in to care for the animals and immediately starts to care for Florence.
Gil is not your typical hero in a story; he's almost 7 feet tall and is considered unintelligent. Because he doesn't get noticed (at least not in a positive way) anyway, he's let himself go and is scruffy, often unshaven, hair unruly, and his clothes aren't always the cleanest. But Gil will grab your heart and show you what God truly values long before he cleans himself up and cuts his hair. His heart is on display from the minute he enters the barn and sees Florence lying there.
Florence is so scared of what she's done with her life and what is in store for her unborn child. But, despite everything she's been through, she looks past the exterior and sees Gil for who he truly is. Her struggle with faith is so genuine. If you've ever doubted or felt that you aren't worthy of God, even for a millisecond, you will understand Florence and connect with her.
Desmond Wright is a wonderful writer, and she has outdone herself with this book. If you love Amish romance, stories of forgiveness, God's love, or unexpected heroes, this is must-read.
I received a copy of this book from the author. All opinions are my own.
What an uplifting story of hope and faith as Florene meets her destiny in her search for refuge from her abusive partner and from a blizzard! This story captured my heart and my imagination from the first page and kept me engrossed in it until the end. When Florene was tossed out of the car during a blizzard, she had no way of knowing that her rescuer would be a gentle giant named Gil. Taking shelter with his family, Florene learns the meaning of true faith and being willing to reach out to help others. I liked the dynamics between the characters and how realistically they were portrayed, with their raw edges exposed. I really enjoyed the story that had a hint of mystery to it involving the brother Eli’s shenanigans and desire to be free of his family’s homestead. The faith foundation was an integral part of the story as Florene needs to find her way back to God before she can be whole again and gentle Gil gives her the example she needs to do just that. This is a book that should not be missed by anyone who enjoys Christian romance with a hint of danger and a lot of family love and romance. Disclaimer: I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not required to post a positive review, and all opinions expressed are my own.
I LOVED Florene’s story! It was just as it should be!
The story begins with Florence being slapped and thrown out of the car, Zane speeding off and leaving her alone, freezing cold, in the middle of nowhere!
She’s awoken the next morning by a huge, burly man, in whose barn she found refuge from the freezing cold temperatures and the driving snow. Recognizing him as Gilead Kestler, she is relieved to know that she remembers him and his family. Gil recognizes Florene, too, and tells her she should stay with them as they wait for the blizzard to pass.
Even though Florene had left her Amish community, Burr Oak, in a headstrong rebellion against her sisters’ advice years ago, leaving behind her faith-based upbringing, she is glad to be surrounded by a family whose ways are so familiar, a way of life that comforts her. Gil’s mother, Almeda, welcomes Florene in and motheringly guides her and makes her feel she is providing help that they need.
But Florene has secrets she’d rather not discuss and a fear of what Zane will do to get her back. Florene is carrying Zane’s baby, which excites and terrifies her.
Eli and Nella, Gil’s brother and sister in law, also live in the home with their young colicky son Isaiah. Eli is my LEAST favorite character besides Zane, of course. Gil is a gentle giant, always seeking to do God’s will and do right by those around him, but he’s constantly teased by Eli for not being able to read, having been kicked out of school at a young age due to an unfortunate experience. Florene offers to help Gil learn to read and Gil jumps at the chance!
Eli and Nelly are constantly whining about their living conditions and continually throw a damper on any peaceful discussions between the family. They want more than what they currently have and seem to want everyone to be miserable with them.
Gil makes Florene feel safe, and she sees in him a different type of man than what she had seen in Zane. She longs to be at peace and feel loved, much as Gil does! Through long discussions and time spent working together, they begin to feel hope that things could be different for them both. Their fear and reluctance to be vulnerable make it hard for them to let go, but they are beginning to feel more and more like they have a chance to be more than just friends.
But just the snows begin to melt and a brighter days lie ahead, things start to fall apart. Both Gil AND Florene are confronted by circumstances that make the future frightening and uncertain. Will their budding relationship be able to survive the consequences of the events that unfold?

Pamela Desmond Wright delivers a stirring story of overcoming low self-esteem in this delightful sweet, clean faith-filled romance.
From the first scene, the author pulled me into the story, as I wondered if Florene would survive her first night on her own. I loved the way the author portrayed Gil as both strong in his faith but insecure in himself. So many of us suffer with an accurate view of self and I loved watching both Florene and Gil’s example of growth in this area.
Though Florene escapes from an abusive relationship, the author handled this topic delicately. Only a few scenes mention some aspect of the abuse and the author kept it from feeling too heavy.
While Florene tries to get her life back together again, the drama in Gil’s family adds just the right amount of dramatic tension to keep the reader turning pages late into the night. The story builds with a slow-burn, squeaky clean romance.
Fans of Amish romance, Christian romance, and clean romance will enjoy this inspiring read.
Romance: No kissing. Very light description of attraction. Faith: Gil remains strong in his Amish faith. Florene confronts her faith and comes to a truly saving faith.
I received an advanced copy of this book courtesy of the author. All opinions are my own and I’m not required to give a favorable review.
I want to start by saying I received an ARC of this book. This is an inspirational Amish romance book. The main characters are Gil and Florene. Florene left her life in the Amish years ago now she has ended up back on an Amish farm. Gil’s family takes her in during the snowstorm. I loved how loving and gentle Gil was to Florene. I didn’t like how Gil’s brother just talked down to him making him question everything. I loved watching Florene come back to her Faith with the help of Gil. I loved how he was there for her when she needed it the most. Will Florene tell him about the abuse she went through? About how she is pregnant? Will he accept her and the baby into his life? Will the baby’s dad show back up and try to get Florene back? I loved how this story played out. Gil needed Florene and Florene needed Gil. God has a plan. He will never leave you. You may not feel him but He is there for you. It is never too late to come back to God. This book had me invested from the very beginning so I couldn’t put it down. This is the first Amish book I have ever read and it did not disappoint me. I can’t wait to read more by this author.
She was thrown out of her Enlisher husband's car, in the middle of a blizzard. Pregnant, freezing & alone, Florene seeking shelter, makes her way to a barn just before collapsing. Later when Gil returns home, on his familys farm, he finds a girl lying in the barn.
Upon waking, Florene & Gil dicover they are former classmates, from their small Amish school. Gils mamm allows Florene to recover in their home as long it takes. Slow healing begins to take place mentally & physically from the abuse Florene suffered from her husband. Gil, a giant of a man, was taunted & made fun of by classmates for being basically illiterate, but Florene begins to see the kindness, compassion & caring, behind the man.
What happens to Florene & her baby & does her husband ever returns to find her. How does Gil recover from the emotional abuse he suffered as a child? Pick up the book to find out; you wont be sorry!
Ms. Wright is a new author to me, but I will definitely be reading more of her books. I was given an advanced readers copy of this book, but was not required to leave a postive review of the book. All thoughts & comments are my own. #1bookworm
This is the fourth book in the Texas Amish Brides series.
Travel with me to Burr Oak, Texas while visiting with Florene Schroeder and Gilead Kesler.
Florene left her Amish home but after several years she returns unexpectedly at the home of Gil, a friend from her school days. She has been in an abusive relationship and needs to find a place to hide from her boyfriend. Gil finds Florene hiding in the barn, cold and hungry. Gil is a tall large man and has been the subject of a lot of ridicule espically by his younger brother. Feelings start to develope between Florene and Gil but when her secret is told will Gil turn her away or will he accept her as she is? I very good story of second chances, learning to forgive one’s self and love. If you enjoy reading Amish fiction you will need to order this book or get it as soon as it hits the shelves.
I really enjoyed being in Burr Oaks again. This time we get Florene’s story & boy were we in for a treat. Florene has the left the Amish community & become an Englischer. After being gone 3 years, she’s stranded in a blizzard with nowhere to go. Thankfully, she stumbles onto Gil Kestler’s farm. As she waits out the blizzard, she gets to know Gil and his family. It was quite a ride & I enjoyed every second of it. I loved getting to know Gil & the rest of his family. Florene has really grown up & changed. I loved these two. It’s a wonderful story. It made me cry happy & hurt tears. I loved the epilogue & of course I teared up there too. I can’t wait to read the next Burr Oak book. I hope they never stop.
This is such an uplifting read. Florence Schroder it’s thrown out of her husband Zack’s vehicle in the middle of a winter blizzard. She is pregnant, abused, and scared. She has bruises left on her body by the abuse of her husband! She left her Amish community years ago and realized what a mistake that was. Gil Kestler find her in his barn near froze to death. Gil is a giant of a man. And for some reason, I kept picturing him asLou Ferrigno. He’s also a man with a tender heart. He has taken much teasing in his life, but because God is his savior he does not rebel. He gets the worst treatment from his very own brother. I was very intrigued with this book and the patients that Gil showed to his brother. And the tender care in which he took care of Florence. I highly recommend this story and cannot wait to read more by Pamela. I was given this book from the author herself in return for my honest review.
Her Amish Refuge is my favorite book so far in this series. Florene's character is strong willed but comes to realize that God has been with her all along. Gilead the gentle giant has a big heart but lets his brother run over him. His character is one that you will fall in love with. Through in a snow storm, and abusive exboyfriend and a family in turmoil because of family strife and you have one book that you will fall in love with. I was given an copy of this book and I am under no obligation to give a positive reviews.
One of my favorite book's by Pamela Desmond Wright. Once I started reading I had a hard time putting the book down. I got so invested in Florene and Gil's story and couldn't wait to find out what happened next. The story of how Florene stumbled into Gil's life and the two of them slowly fell in love while Florene struggled with finding her way back to the Amish way of life and back to her belief in God was so beautifully written. I was so happy when Florene and Gil got their happy ending. I definitely give this book a five star rating.
I absolutely loved Her Amish Refuge!! This sweet, very emotional, heartwarming story is about second chances, hope, forgiveness, family, friendship, faith, secrets and finding your way back home!! No matter what we are going thru God want leave us. We have to trust him to lead us in the right direction!! Ms. Wright kept my attention throughout the story. I couldn't put it down!! A must read!! I was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
This book starts out with Florene being thrown out of her boyfriend's car and he abandoned her in the middle of a blizzard. She found shelter in an amish family's barn that was part of the amish community that she grew up in. she landed in the barn of Gil and his family. They take her in and help her. What will happen to Florene? Will she stay English, go back to being Amish? Will she go back with her boy friend or fall in love with Gil? Pick up this book and find out. I'm giving it a 4 star cause there was some big words in there I had to google and some Amish words I was unfamiliar with. I wish she would have included a glossary. I was given a advance readers copy of this book from the Author. I was asked to give a honest review. This is my honest review.
Her Amish Refuge by Pamela Desmond Wright is the fourth book in her Texas Amish Bride’s series. I have read the first three so it was nice to come back to Burr Oak and read rebellious Florene Schroder’s story. Leaving her Amish faith and marrying an Englisher her life went tumbling out of control. Having a fight with her husband he leaves her broken on the side of the road in a snowstorm. God guides her to a barn where Gilead (Gil) Kestler finds her. I didn’t want to put this book down. I was rooting for Gil and Florene to find forgiveness and redemption for their past mistakes. This book is full Faith, Family, Forgiveness and most of all Hope! Put this on your to be read pile! You won’t be disappointed. Can’t wait for the next book #Pamela Desmond Wright. I was giving this Arc book to read, this is my honest review.
Hope & redemption is a recurring thread running throughout this book. A fresh outlook on forgiveness is refreshing in this book. God's redemption is portrayed in multiple lives within these pages. Experience the redemption for yourself.
A very sweet and quick read, Her Amish Refuge carries the message that we all want to be heard and accepted, and the freedom that comes when you find the right person. I cozied up with this novel on a cold, rainy Saturday afternoon, and it matched my vibe perfectly.
My heart instantly went out to Gil when I read about how he’d been treated for how he looks and his illiteracy. It’s clear that despite his limitations, he has a sweet spirit and a heart of gold. Watching how Gil’s brother and sister-in-law treat Gil and the other members of the family is infuriating to read but really highlights just what a saint Gil really is and highlights the wonderful writing of Pamela Desmond Wright.
Florence joins the Kessler family after escaping an abusive relationship and quickly sees what a wonderful man Gil is and the life she could’ve had if she’d stayed in the Amish community. Florence and Gil share some truly touching moments and the acceptance that Gil must’ve felt, something that he’d craved for so long, had to have been the most soothing balm on a painful wound. They give one another what they’ve both been needing, and it’s beautiful to witness.
This character-driven novel is a quick read, but it’s packed with depth and flows perfectly. You find yourself rooting for these characters and craving a happily-ever-after, which comes in the best way possible. It doesn’t get much better than this!
*I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher. All views and opinions expressed are completely honest, and my own.
Agreeing to review for a new to me author can be equal parts exciting and scary, but in this case, it was more than worth it. Pamela Desmond Wright is now on my list of must-read authors. From the first sentence, this book grabbed my attention and propelled me into an exciting story full of desperation, faith, and hope that was very difficult to put down. I finished it in just 2 days. I have read so much Amish fiction that it can start to feel like they are all the same, but this one remained interesting, unpredictable, and unique. I especially appreciated the realism that not everything is happily ever after, and it takes time and work to get to that place of peace and acceptance in life. I could easily relate to family struggles, doubting God, and losing hope in trials. But a clear Biblical direction drove the story to resolution. I did not know that this was number 4 in a series until I finished the book. It easily stands on its own. But I am going to look for the other 3 to get the sisters’ backgrounds. I have no doubt they will be worth reading. If you enjoy clean Christian fiction from authors such as Wanda Brunstetter, Beverly Lewis, and Patricia Johns then do not let this series pass you by. I give Her Amish Refuge 5 emphatic stars! *I received a complimentary copy of this e-book courtesy of the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions shared here in this review are my own.
I read Her Amish Refuge by Pamela Desmond Wright as a stand-alone as I did not realize it was part of a series. It read just fine on its own.
Her Amish Refuge starts out with Florene Schroder being kicked out of the car from her abusive Englisher husband into the middle of a blizzard. She is alone and pregnant and walks as best she can to a nearby farm and collapses in the barn. She is found the next morning by Gil Kestler. Gil is a tall Amish man who is a gentle giant. His family takes her in for the time being. However, Gil's family has its own troubles as Gil and his brother Eli struggle to get along. This is complicated by the fact that Eli's wife misses living in town and feels trapped in the country with their new baby. Gil's mother is a widow and his dad originally owned the farm through his family for generations.
There is a gentle love story between Florene and Gil as the book progresses. Florene also must decide if she will return to the Amish ways and the Amish faith. She longs to go home to her family but she isn't sure if she will be welcomed. There is a faith element woven through Her Amish Refuge that is realistic too. There is a lot going on with family issues on all sides and it is interesting to see it all wrapped up in the ending. I don't read many Amish books but this one seems to be well written.
I received a copy of this book from the author. All opinions within this review are my own.
I enjoyed Her Amish Refuge by Pamela Desmond Wright. I was quickly drawn into the story, and I kept reading until I finished reading it. I liked that the story had romance, family drama, and suspense. Gil was a unique main character. He is a tall fellow (around seven feet tall) which would make him stand out in an Amish community. I felt for Gil and how an incident from childhood shaped his life. I wanted to strangle Gil’s brother, Eli, and his wife. Talk about a selfish pair of individuals. They did not seem to appreciate the wonderful life that they had on the farm. My heart went out to Florene. I liked that she could look past Gil’s size to see the wonderful man inside. Faith was beautifully woven into the story. I marked several passages that spoke to me. I was especially drawn to the area where Florene speaks to Pastor Michael. I was amazed at the strength of Gil’s faith. I wish mine was as strong as his. While Her Amish Refuge is part of the Schroder sister’s series, it can be read as a standalone. It was great to catch up with all the Schroder sisters. Her Amish Refuge is a tender tale with a raging blizzard, a gentle giant, an injured lady, a narcissistic couple, a bawling baby, a compassionate mother, and a hopeful future.
Her Amish Refuge: An Uplifting Inspirational Romance Kindle Edition by Pamela Desmond Wright Her Amish Refuge is a wonderful story of redemption and forgiveness by a new to me Author, Pamela Desmond Wright. This story is totally unlike any other Amish story you have read.
Ms. Wright might be a new author to me, but to say the least, she does a great job. This might be my first Wright book, but it definitely will not be my last.
This is the tale of Florene Scchroder’s returns to her childhood Amish community due to the abandonment and abuse by her boyfriend. Florene is rescued from a horrible snowstorm by a gentle giant-like-man, Gil Kestler. These characters are so realistic, one can not but fall in love with them. As Ms. Write introduced each character, we learn a little about their background.
The setting, a farm, in Texas, in the mist of a snowstorm, brings in the prefect arena for this story.
I highly recommend this. 5-star book. I was given and ARC by the author, but was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts are my own.
I absolutely love all of Pamela Desmond Wrights work. Her Amish Refuge is another amazing story of hope, second chances, forgiveness and faith. After fleeing an abusive relationship Florene, lost and cold finds shelter in a barn. Once discovered by Gilead her life begins to turn around. Questioning her faith and acceptance in the church and community she speaks with a Pastor who assures her that God never leaves us. She prays with the Pastor and accepts Jesus. Her family welcomes her as well as the church. Which allows her to fall in love. Her story will pull you in from the very beginning and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I couldn't put it down. I was completely engrossed, at times holding my breath. You can feel all the emotions of each character as if you are living it as you continue reading it. I was given a complimentary copy and the opinions are mine and mine alone Don't wait to get your copy. Pre-order it if you can.
Florene has abandoned her Amish upbringing to leave with an Englisher that she thinks she loves. After 3 years, the abuse she has endured becomes too much to bear and she tries to leave. Instead, Zane leaves her beaten and broken on the side of the road in a terrible blizzard in the middle of nowhere. Florene is pregnant and struggles against the blizzard to get to safety. She ends up in the Kestler barn. When Gil Kessler discovers her the next day, his Amish family takes her in and nurses her back to health. There are many twists and turns along the way. Read this story to see how things are resolved. This story is about faith, love, family and second chances. I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed are my own. I enjoyed this book. Release date is April 29th.
This sweet Love Inspired inspirational romance was easy to read, had interesting characters and plot that kept my interest from beginning to end.
I liked reading about Giant Gil and Florene's friendship and how they complimented each other in many ways. I also liked how welcoming Gil and his mom were to Florene when she finds herself back in her old Amish community after a heartbreaking experience. The multi generational Amish house setting was realistic and showed the joys and struggles of all living together.
I really enjoyed reading this sweet, family romance about growing in faith, love, second chances and real life hardships. I have read other books by this author and her Texas Amish Brides book and have enjoyed reading them all! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions and views expressed are my own.
This is a fantastic story whose storyline is a little different from what one might expect, but in a good way. The story deals with many elements. There is romance, faith, hope, overcoming, and a touch of suspense. It also deals with the sensitive topics of physical and verbal abuse. Without giving anything else away, I will say that once I began reading, I didn't stop until I'd finished.
The story is about Florene and Gil, both of whom have had their share of difficulties in life. For Florene, they have her questioning her faith and more. For Gil, they have molded him into a wonderful and caring soul. They seem to be on two sides of the spectrum, but spending time together, along with the situations that arise, begins to bring the two sides together. It's not all smooth sailing along the way, but the result is a beautiful and touching story.
